  1. Great Updates Over First Chirp. I was excited to try out the Chirp 2 after having the initial Chirp for the past year. I have noticed some great improvements worth the difference. Some of the highlights to me:1. The three transmission cones – It has been fun to play around with the different angle of scanning cones the Chirp 2 offers. I am sure a more advanced fisherman than myself would get even more usage out of this feature, but I am starting to use it for more target orientation.2. Increased battery life – To be perfectly honest, I never had an issue with the initial Chirp’s battery life, but the Chirp 2 is a huge improvement. The battery far outlasts me in a day on the water. I’ve found that battery life is so good on the Chirp 2 that I can take it for a weekend camping trip and never need to worry about a mid-trip charge!3. I’ve read other reviews about the increase in wifi range. I can’t say I have tested it to the maximum, but I will say I maintain a very stable connection within my usual realm of <150.Overall, great product that I have enjoyed using!

Fun gadget. My boys are fisherman and this was a fun thing to get them. Works really well.

As advertised. Everything worked. I was able to charge, install and connect to the unit. NO PROBLEM. IBobber on the other hand?

  6. It works. I have used this for shore fishing and trolling from a kayak for chinook salmon all summer. The battery is impressive for it being so small and charges pretty fast. My phone battery, iPhone 14 pro, will die before the fish finder. When fishing on my kayak I drilled a hole on my pedal drive and mounted a RAM system to hold my phone. I just place the sonar in one of the scupper holes and it works 90% of the time without issue, some times if it is not angled right it will not read very clear, easy fix. I have also had issues with the app freezing but just resetting the app fixes it right away. Honestly this is a great tool for kayak fishing, no need to install a battery and mount a huge fish finder. I would recommend it.

  8. Great product and support. The first unit I received worked briefly, then failed. After contacting their support they very quickly provided return shipping label, looked at the unit and determined there as an issue with it and very quickly shipped me a new one. The new one is working fabulously, and I can’t recommend this castable fish finder enough. We were able to get depth, temperature and fish location information on their app providing us the information we needed. Easy to setup, easy to use, portable and works as advertised. Very happy with the purchase, their support and look forward to using it a lot.

  12. I love it buuuuut chirp 2 is not worth it just get the cheaper one. when I go fishing this is with me every time, so one thing to know is the chirp pro plus is not available in America and if im being honest the chirp to the deeper pro is the same thing I cant find any signifanct difference to justify 200 plus on the chirp 2 so don’t waste your money on this one get the cheaper on you won’t be missing out on any important info

Make sure you know what you want…. If you like fancy GPS – you cant get fancy ChirpIf you want shallow water and chirping beams (like me) you can’t get GPS ….GPS and shallow waters – OK but then you have to give up chirping beamCheck their website and real PRECISELY all functions, otherwise you’ll be returning back and forward

  16. Worked great once. It was easy to get this set up and started, without all the mumbo jumbo. I actually was looking at having this for crab fishing, and knowing how deep the water was BEFORE lowering pots. But I also saw how convenient this would be for gathering other important info. The first time I used it, a lot of people were wondering why salmon liked a specific piece of water and anyone getting within 20 feet of a certain spot would have a short wait before catching a fish. By running the sonar downriver over it, we were able to see certain bottom structure that ‘channeled’ the fish to a specific place. We had THOUGHT the fish were holding there, but the sonar showed few fish pings, but we were catching a lot. Which meant that the fish were just passing through and not holding, so we adjusted out lures accordingly and increased our catch. EXACTLY what this was designed to do. That was back in October. No ice this year, so I did not use it again until this spring.Took it out on the dock for the opening of trout season. Swung it over the side and it showed 21.8 feet of water. But it showed a LOT of fish and that made no sense as the fish do not hold in water like that. I thought that the sensitivity was set too high but I could not find how to lower it. Went online with a friend’s phone, and watched a vid on setting things. Oddly, we could not access the menus shown in the vid. So I had an expensive depth sounder to tell me the depth that I already knew from over 50 years fishing there.Frustrating. Later in the day, I caught my biggest fish there in over 50 years. IT would have been nice if the fish finding capability had been functional as that fish would have, surely, shown up being straight down from the ball on the bottom.I went to try it in a local river to find some spring chinook. When it hit the water,, it would take 7 to 9 seconds to realize it was in the water and start operating. Reeling in and quickly casting, it would reset before hitting the water and take another 7 to 9 seconds before operating. and, then, the indicated depths were wrong (known from experience) and, if it was to believed, there were fish EVERYWHERE! We knew that was not the case.Still trying to figure out what was wrong, I went home and placed it on the charger. No LED indication it was charging. I tried two chargers, and three cords. Nothing. I tried some medical equipment with same chargers and cords. It was charging. I did not mean to, but I left the Chirp on the charger by my bedside. I woke up in the middle of the night with the LED flashing (indicating it was charging). Kind of shrugged and covered it with a towel so I could sleep without seeing the constant flashing. Woke up and the LED was solid green, indicating fully charged. Unplugged it.. and the green LED stayed on… meaning it sensed it was still on the charger. See the photo. LED is on and no charging cords attached. It will not connect to your phone while it is charging. So, after 7 weeks of trying to get hold of Deeper Sonar, this is where we sit. I have a VERY expensive paper weight. Searching online, the only contact given was [email protected]. I sent nearly ten emails, NONE of which were responded to. I finally pulled out the box on the shelf in the garage to find out warranty info, and found the chat line. I called the chat line and spoke to someone. They said they could not handle these types of things (why have the line if they cannot handle problems?), and would have someone contact me through my email within two days. That was a week ago, and I still do not have any contact info, I have a paper weight. So, reliability = 0. Customer support = 0. Five year warranty = 0. Ability to function as a paper weight = 5 (out of five stars). Being a foreign company (Great Britain), there is not much a complaint to the Better Business Bureau can do for me. It might be a good piece of equipment and I just got a bad one. It certainly helped us target fall salmon in a single popular hole a lot better. But I really did not need to spend hundreds of dollars for this information. You do not need to spend that much, either.Update. Seems they are a little more innocent. They (for some reason) were unable to contact me through my email address. added a new account, just for this, and they are making arrangements to warranty the ball. We’ll see. Changed my rating from one to three. May get more if this can be done swiftly.

  17. Bad connection battery dies. This doesn’t connect well with my iPhone 13 Pro even when I cast and am connecting it literally right in front of my phone. Also, it’s really annoying how I have to plug it into the charger to even turn it on initially so I always have to make sure to have a portable and the micro usb cord on me. Doesn’t help that when it’s out in the water it’ll turn off periodically and I have to reel it in. Maybe I got a faulty product but it’s not working for me.

  18. Very nice. Pretty nice quality. Sends out accurate readings and depth as well as records onto the app. Very good value. Has night mode as well. The battery life on the sonar is great but it will eat your phone battery. So when I’m not actively using this I’ll close the app (even if it’s in the water still) and recheck it every so often. Another thing you could do is to bring a portable power pack for the phone/tablet/ whatever you’re using. If you cast it I recommend using a heavy weight rod with a good solid weight line (I use a medium heavy rod with 14lb mono). I use this rod because I had it around but for the weight a heavier rod would be better.

It’s important to know that I received the product I ordered. I ordered this castable fish finder to use when I get my kayak. I had the product within 3 days of ordering. Very good service. The product box was in excellent condition, no visible shipping damage. I used the deeper chirp 2 locator from my boat dock & it functions even better than I hoped. I found crappie on the screen & managed to catch my lunch. Great product. Thanks
