Pays for itself! Yolink saves the day! (And the food). The media could not be loaded. I bought these back in January 2022 and set one up for use in our new chest freezer and the other I put in my home office. The unit is inside the freezer and reports data perfectly to the network equipment. I most impressed that with an average temperature of -0.2f and being installed inside that it can work properly. It’s a winner!April 2, 2022Recently the power went out for a few hours on Friday afternoon. Unknown to me that the freezer GFCI tripped and the power was disconnected from the freezer. I received several alerts over night about the humidity increasing above my set point. The freezer wasn’t running! And the temperature was sloooowly rising and at almost 20 degrees. Two things about this situation. 1. The Yolink works well and reporting is timely. 2. My freezer only increased 20 degrees in 21 hours!I reset the GFCI and the freezer is running properly now. In under an hour the Yolink reports the temperature is falling steadily and is at 12 degrees with the humidity falling to 54%. Should be back to 0 +/- a couple of degrees in another 40 minutes.Great freezer and Yolink saves the day!Apologies for the crappy video.—===UPDATE===— July 30th 2022Still loving this sensor! My thoughts after 7 months of use…Works flawlessly and continually reports temperature and humidity that is out of range. My only fault with this device is that I received no, (read, ZERO) alerts that the batteries had died or reached a low voltage level in the sensor in my chest freezer. I discovered today that the batteries were dead. I will now be setting a reminder alert on my phone to replace batteries in 5-6 months. On another note, it’s amazing that the batteries (factory installed AAA alkaline) lasted 6 months in temperatures in the 0-5 degrees F.Also, I did not have to re-pair or reconfigure the sensor. Slap some fresh batteries into the device and powered up immediately and instantly received a text message on my phone saying that the humidity was high and temperature was out of my designated safe range.A NOTE TO YoLink:Please upgrade the device to send alert when battery life is near it’s end.
Things to be desired, but otherwise not bad. A quick explanation on wi-fi for the less technical consumer. A have a thermostat in my Freezer (couple of inches of not wi-fi friendly material), a floor down and on the other side of the house from the hub. I have no issues getting data. The setup explicitly states this device should be connected to a 2.4ghz network, and as long as you’re not using the internet providers access point (you really shouldn’t, they’re not designed with your security in mind) you should be able to set-up a 2.4ghz network and a 5ghz network. 2.4 is a stronger signal. It is slower, but it reaches much farther. Devices like this one, your smart toaster, and robot floor buffer should be on the 2.4 ghz network. Keep your phone and computers on the 5ghz network, because it is much faster. If you break your network up your devices will preform much better. More so because they won’t all be trying to share the same space. In the modern world the air is getting crowded, so divide your network for the things that matter, and read the manual.I can’t vouch for Alexa, but Google Home picked it with no issues. The packing of the parts (not the amazon packing, I’m not judging for something outside the manufacturer’s control) left something to be desired. One of the thermostats was already “on” in the package, apparently my mail box was 97.2 degrees today. I’m willing to let that slide though because it showed me that the thermostat has no on board memory. If it disconnects from the hub, it’s just another thermostat. @Yolink, you couldn’t include a little bit of ram storage on this thing? If the hub loses power I’d like to not have a gap in my data. Otherwise easy set-up and legibility.
Amazing product, amazing technology, excellent value. The penetrating power of their “unique”(?) “LoRa” RF signal technology, is pretty amazing. We’ve been testing it in a six story concrete and cinder block building with great results. We need to monitor the temperature inside a sealed metal control rack that houses our elevator controls. The RF signal very successfully penetrates through five precast concrete slabs, a diagonal cut through a cinder block wall, and a metal electonics enclosure. This signal is going from our boiler room in the basement to our elevator motor room on the building roof, and still gives a “good (-108db)” reliable signal. Alternatively we also have a temperature/humidity sensor in our garage which has to penetrate six cinder block walls and one 8″ thick concrete floor slab, over a 200ft span, with a “good (-96db)” reliable signal. The temperature/humidity sensors also measure relative humidity which is unique and invaluable. We have deployed several of their temperature sensors so far. YoLink has great, reliable products at very attractive pricing.
Damn is this good. Previously I’ve searched for freezer monitors after a freezer full of food died. And the built-in alarm died with it. Well, this connects the sensors on something else, not Wifi or BT, into a tiny hub that just into any router. You download a fast smartphone app, and then scan a qr code on each device. They configure themselves! You can set temperature range alarms, and get alerts by SMS and email to your devices. And the system can add home alarms, more sensors, alarm sirens, all sorts of things. The LCD readout on each sensor can be read by itself, and the displays don’t crack or freeze. You get to read a temp and humidity chart for each sensor. You can see how self-defrost really changes the temperature, and proof that a FULL freezer keeps a much steadier temperature. I’m in love with this thing. So simple to set up (if you look at the instructions) and such great information and performance. I’d actually give it SIX STARS if I could, and I’m a hard customer to please.
Works incredibly well, good app. I’ve lost 3 freezers full of food when (twice) a chest freezer lost power when a cord was bumped out of the socket and (once) a freezer door didn’t close fully right before we left for a long weekend. Hundreds of dollars of meat down the drain and I finally decided to try this out.It works better than I hoped for. I had some issue setting it up with wifi so I plugged the main unit into my router and then it set up very easily (and the issue may have been my wifi settings). It sends notifications to your email, the app, or both. They send out almost instantaneously – if I spend too long with the fridge door open, increase the humidity/decrease the temperature, by the time I sit down I get a temperature warning (I have a pretty low threshold for variance). In addition, you can see logs of your temperature and will learn more about your fridge temperature cycles than you probably ever wanted to know.I’m considering adding in more sensors just to track my basement temperature and as an emergency detection sensor in the event of a flooded basement.I haven’t tried the Alexa integration so can’t comment on that.Highly, highly recommend.
Surprisingly good product. Easy setup and long distance. I got this for our freezer to monitor temperature inside. It came with a hub and two temp. humidity sensors. One went into the freezer, the other into our well house. At a glance i can tell the temp and bat health. It sends me email/text message if the freezer temp gets above set temp and the sensor in the well house sends a text/email if the temp gets below a set temp. Wellhouse is least 600′ feet up hill and away from our house, where the hub sits. I’ll be getting other products from yolink.
Works good, after getting connected to wifi. Be aware, this device will only use 2.4Ghz wifi. Cannot be used with 5Ghz. Most routers have both, but can be a little tricky unless you are familiar with logging into your router and messing with settings. I had to change a couple settings in my router and disable the 5Ghz band before it would connect. The instructions will tell you to do this, but you’ll need to either use your router manual or search the internet if you do not now how to turn off your 5Ghz band if your router is set to Auto Select.Once you finally get the wireless connected, the thermometers and app work fine. I like being able to get temp alerts and email notifications when temps are out of range. Bought these to alert me if one of the freezers fails.Seems to be a good product, but just be aware it may take a little effort to get the hub connected to wifi. Not sure why they designed to only work on the 2.4Ghz.
Easy setup. Seem accurate and able to SMS temp messages to cell. SMS feature is free, but they only allow a couple hundred SMS messages for free per month, but if you’re getting more than 10, you’ve obviously got a problem! Also shows temp and humidity graphs which basically tells you approximately when the doors are opened. Worked so well at home, I installed them in the freezer and walkins at my restaurant and the signal does indeed travel through the big metal doors without issue. The phone APP fires up very fast. You can also add other users and specify which temp sensors they can monitor or edit. These are nearly commercial grade and the price is really good. I have used other temp sensors 2x or 3x the cost that had less features. Tested temp performance with digital and analog thermometers and they are +/- 1 degree. The included main Hub/WiFi router is easy to set up and the instructions are well done and intuitive.
Outstanding. Where has this been all my life? Very easy to set up, accurate, and the app keeps a record of temperatures in my fridge and freezer so I have peace of mind knowing that my food is being held at safe temperatures and my appliances are working properly. Excellent product.
Great product. I purchased the two sensors with hub. I plugged the hub directly into my modem and it was immediately online. Next, I put one sensor in my garage freezer and the hub (several rooms away) could still see it. I put the other on the back porch outside (again, not near the hub) with no connection problems. Though this is only day one, I’m very impressed with the ease of setup and connectivity. The app is easy to understand and navigate, and I’ve setup temperature ranges that I’d like to see (and therefore, alerts will happen outside of those ranges). I already know that this works as the freezer quickly began to send me alerts that the temperature was too cold prior to my setting an acceptable temperature range for that sensor.
