Very pleasantly surprised. I’ve tried four different methods for securing my phone in my car. This is the only one that worked.I have a 45 minute commute, and I use my phone for audiobooks, hooked to the car’s bluetooth. I also use my phone as my GPS. I have a TomTom, but my phone works better, so the TomTom never comes out anymore. So I really needed something to attach my phone to the car.The first method I tried was the sort that clips into your vent and grips the phone from the sides. That method didn’t work. The holder itself was large and heavy, and because it caused the phone to jut out from the vent by about an inch, the vent tilted down and you couldn’t see your phone. Plus, not all side-grippers work with all phones, and it’s a pain to put the phone into the device. You can’t do it once you start driving. The second method I tried was the grippy rubber mat you put on your dash. Supposedly nothing slides off it, so your phone can sit on it. So long as you don’t put your charger cord in (inevitably tugging the phone off the dash) it works OK… until the rubber gets dusty. Then it doesn’t stick as well. Getting dust off rubber is not easy, let me tell you. And any method you use compromises the mat’s stickiness. The third method I tried was one of those devices that sticks into your CD player. It didn’t fit into my CD player, though I tried. I even shaved the thing down to try to get it to work. No dice. Even if it had worked, I wouldn’t be able to listen to CDs. Having been a teen in the 90s, I still listen to music on plastic discs. The fourth method was this magnet. It’s amazing. I put the large flat no-stickum metal plate INSIDE my phone, right on top of the battery, so you can’t even see it. Nothing is adhering to any part of my phone. Nothing is glued onto my car. No rubber mats. Nothing jammed in my CD player. How well does it work? You’d be suspicious that the magnet wouldn’t work. It does. It holds my Galaxy S4 very well. I’ve tried taking some turns hard just to see, and it doesn’t budge. It holds it firm, even with the charger cord plugged in, dragging it down. If you have the charger plugged in, the phone WILL gradually rotate out of landscape orientation, though, so you’re stuck with portrait orientation if you’re charging, unless you wrap the cable around the steering wheel or use some other sort of shenanigans.”But Jon!” (you might say) “The S4 is not as big as my phone!”Yes, true, the S4 is a little smaller than a lot of smartphones. But I had a rubber case on, making it larger. OK fine. It’s still relatively small. To test it with a bigger phone, I tried it with my wife’s Note 4, also with a rubber case on. Nobody would say a Note is a small phone! It stuck on just fine, and I took a turn pretty hard to test that one too. (Howard County Police, please forgive my driving. It was for science!)As for vent tiltage (see failed method 1, above), no problemo! The magnet dohickey only sticks out about a quarter inch, so the phone winds up being flush with the dash, and it doesn’t tilt.It also looks good. The black is a little on the grey side, which matches the dark grey of my air vents almost perfectly (Hyundai Sonata) and the device looks attractive and subtle. I can even use the air vent (for AC, but not heat – but you should be using the floor vents for the heater in winter anyway!) because it only covers half the vent with the phone on.All in all, I was very pleasantly surprised how well this worked, especially after trying three other, crummy, methods. Get this thing. It will improve your life.Edit. Weeks later still works fine.
Highly Recommend. I bought this WizGear product hoping to get a relatively cheap car mount for my IPhone 6S. The goal was to be able to have my phone at eye level to view maps, phone calls, etc, while not compromising a hand to hold my phone. I was hoping to get a reliable product that was easy to use, easy to assemble, and that wouldn’t require extensive additions to my IPhone. The WizGear Universal Air Vent Magnetic Car Mount has everything I was hoping to get in a phone stand. The magnet is easy to adhere to the backside of the phone and I had no issues attaching the magnet, even though I have a semi-thick phone case. I placed the magnet in-between the phone backing and the phone case, though I imagine you could also place the magnet on the back of the phone case. The magnet is thin enough that you don’t notice it is even there after applying. As for the strength of pull between the magnet and the car mount, I have had no issues with my phone sliding or falling off during driving and it has been easy to attach and pull away from the mounted stand. As far as the mount goes, the device has prongs that allow for you to easily attach the black stand to anything that the prongs can fit around (ideally to the air vent). The prongs are sturdy enough that they don’t move over bumps and the general jostling of a car, but also flexible enough to allow easy slide on and slide off from the vent. Swiping, touching, and pressing on my phone don’t move the phone off the stand either. The only potential negative I could see to this product is not being able to hold your phone wherever you want on your dash, but obviously the description says “Air Vent Mount” so there shouldn’t be any ambiguity in what you think you are buying.Overall I have been very pleased, and if you are someone who is looking for a phone stand that clips on an air vent, this product is simple, affordable, and effective in accomplishing that task. I would highly recommend this WizGear product. Great investment!

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. This thing is super awesome. At first I was concerned about the magnets because I have an Otterbox Commuter Wallet case for my iPhone 6s, and I didn’t want the magnets to damage either the credit cards or, God forbid, the phone. I did a fair amount of research and found that although this magnet is pretty strong, it generally takes a super-strong electromagnet to damage either of them. So, I went ahead and ordered it, and I’m so glad I did!The base fits snugly onto the vent, and although it eliminates the ability to change the angle of the vent, that isn’t a huge deal for me. Once it’s in place, I can almost toss my phone up to it (no, I don’t actually do that). The magnets hold it strongly in MULTIPLE positions, it doesn’t have to be centered on the plate for maximum hold. The rubber coating on the base assists with this, preventing the device from sliding around and breaking magnetic contact when you hit bumps in the road. My phone covers about half of my vent when it’s installed, which is fine, because the other half is pointed right at me 🙂 and it only blocks half of one vent. (I have a 2013 Dodge Caravan so I’m sure different types of vents will produce different results)Even with my AUX and charge cables plugged in it doesn’t affect the strength of the magnet at all. I can have it in normal or landscape orientations (useful when using a GPS app) and coupled with Siri it makes it incredibly easy to use the device handsfree in the car. The magnet is strong enough that it prevents the device from spinning on the base (gravity pulling the heavier side down).Another neat feature, and I’m sure this has been noted before, is that because the phone is attached to the vent it keeps it cool while charging on hot days, or when using GPS (the screen produces a fair amount of heat when it is on and at full brightness for an extended amount of time). I haven’t used it in the winter when the heater is on, but I usually turn the heater to the defrost anyway so it isn’t blasting warm air directly into my face.Another important note is that this magnet base may work with many phones without the included metal plate – My wife just bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 and has a clear PC case on it, and without the metal plate the phone sticks to the base with no issues. Again, the magnet isn’t strong enough to affect the components in the phone aside from perhaps the digital compass in a smartphone, but if it is affected strongly most smartphones have an alert that lets you know. My iPhone 6s has no issues with the compass while using this base and my wife’s Galaxy S8 also has no loss of functionality in the digital compass (and the magnet is attracting directly to something inside her device!)Five stars and two thumbs way up for this simple, cheap device that has revolutionized the way I personally use my phone in the car.

Bought this mount based on overwhelmingly positive reviews — but I found this mount to be mediocre at best (updated). I haven’t had this mount for long and already I can tell that it’s not going to be one I put to active use. The magnets themselves are strong, the metal plates work well, etc., however the strong magnets require a strong connection for the mount to be less of a headache to use. Even with care, removing my phone pulls the mount out of the vent the majority of the time. There’s no way to adjust the tension of the prongs that grab onto the vent, so you’re kind of stuck with them in that position. Likewise, there’s no way to angle the phone towards you, which can be a little bit of a hassle when you want a perfect frontal line of sight when using navigation. The magnets and metal plate do not work with my phone case, like, at all. I have a Motorola G5 Plus and a pretty heavy duty case. The magnets barely even recognize that there’s a metal plate inside the case as there’s next to zero grab. The magnets, when in contact with the plates without the case involved, grab very firmly. It’s not so much of a design flaw since it’s obvious the magnets are strong, but buyer beware — this does not work well at all if you have a heavy duty case.My search continues for a vent-based car mount with a magnetic base, but this time I’ll take a closer look at the connection mechanism to ensure the device can grab the vent firmly, and likewise, I’ll certainly look for a pivot feature so I can angle my phone accordingly.UPDATE – I was sitting in my living room looking at the mount wondering how exactly it works. Clearly it had to be using metal prongs under the rubber, right? With minimal force I separated the 4 prong rubber sheath to expose 4 metal prongs underneath. It looks like there was an adhesive used here to ensure the sheath stayed attached, but I got it off without too much fuss. I looked at the prongs and busted out a pair of pliers. I slowly bent each prong closer together in an effort to aim for a tighter fit. With the prongs now closer, this became a bit more difficult to get the rubber sheath back on, but I managed to do so. The mount is far less terrible than before. It actually stays latched onto the vent. If I don’t twist the phone (which would lessen the pull pressure) and pull the phone off the mount straight (thereby putting more pulling pressure on the mount), I can eventually, after a number of tries, get the mount to finally detach and let go — far better than before where I’d twist the phone to minimize pull pressure and would still manage to yank the mount with it nearly every time.Considering the potential differences in manufacturing (and hey, possible differences in the thickness of one vehicle’s vent fin vs the next type of vehicle), I understand that not all of these mounts may be identical down to the last nanometer regarding the angle of these prongs. After reconsidering my review, acknowledging that there’s clearly no swivel in the picture (thus it’s not like I can hold that against the product), I changed the rating from 2 to 4 stars. I mean, hey, it was only a few bucks, and after some minor tweaking it’s more functional than before. Only remaining thing I may do is pull the rubber sheath halfway off and dump in some gorilla glue to rebind the rubber to the metal. Reason being when I *do* manage to get the mount to begin to pull off, it’s mostly due to the rubber sheath slipping off of the prongs. That’s it for now. We’ll see how long it holds up from here.
Finally. I think I have tried every car phone mount on the market. I do a lot of research on the products I buy and have tried 4 + star reviewed brands only to be disappointed immediately upon installing it or only after a few uses. I gave up until I saw this product and after researching a bit decided to purchase. All I have to say is that it’s amazing and installation is a breeze. Just simply slide it in your vent and put the magnetic strip on your phone and that’s it! It comes with a round magnetic strip and a another larger size so you can use it for any size or shape you need. I have a iPhone case that had the pop socket included so the round magnet fit perfectly. I’ve had it now for approximately a month and NOT ONCE has my phone fell off the mount. I am extremely happy with this Wixgear product and would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a sturdy phone mount.** I have used it for both a iPhone 8 Plus and a iPhone 14.
Strong magnet, lasts for many years. I purchased this six years ago in 2017. The rubber that attaches to the vent eventually came lose. I glued it back on, but it won’t hold onto the vents any longer. It worked great for several years so I feel I got my money’s worth.

Está muy cómodo y el imán pega super bien. Me gustó mucho.
