Just got this shoe, looks nice and fits comfortably. I won’t be able to give a fully detailed review because I just picked this shoe up about two hours ago. This will be more of a first impressions review.I’ve wanted to get Sperrys for a while now because a huge percentage of my friends have them, I just never got around to it. This weekend I was waiting in the shoe section for someone so I tried on some Sperrys. I liked the way they looked, so I decided to go ahead and order some a few days ago.I debated for two days between the Sahara and Oatmeal color. I ended up getting the Sahara, and I could not be more pleased with the color. I was hesitant about getting it because of the Amazon picture, which is misleading. In the picture the color looks like a reddish dark brown, but in reality they are a more tan version of the Oatmeal, or a light brown, which is exactly the color I wanted.I also ordered them a half size below my usual shoe size because that was the overwhelming suggestion in what I had heard about Sperrys. People said they stretch out when you break them in, so it is recommended to get them in a smaller size than your usual size. After I got them, I tried them on and walked around for a bit and they were pretty comfortable. They will need some breaking in, but for day one they were pretty good. Also, I was pleased with how they look because I was wearing some stupid looking pants today for a Halloween prank and even on those the shoes looked pretty good so they must look nice when worn with normal pants.The best part about these shoes is that you can wear them with pretty much anything and they will look nice. I have seen my friends wearing them with jeans or khakis and they look good. They are casual enough that you can slip them on with some jeans or shorts, but not so casual that you can’t wear them khakis. My friends also wear them with khakis and they look good on those too.Overall, these shoes look good and from what I can tell, they are comfortable so far. As for whether they are worth the price tag (usually around $80 I think, mine were $75), that just varies from person to person. In my case I had a bunch of Amazon money from gift cards I’ve gotten, so it wasn’t a big deal. Also, I really like the way they look so in my opinion my purchase was worth it. For a pair of shoes $80 is fairly expensive, so I cannot give a definite yes or no answer as to whether or not they are worth it. If you are looking for comfortable shoes that can go with many different types of clothing, definitely consider these shoes.
The real deal if price is marked down, order half a size down. Just got mine today & they look authentic. did a lot of research so will try to put everything I looked for in this review.1st: the fit: it’s pretty common knowledge to order half a size down, I usually wear 11 & ordered these in 10.5, they fit great, the leather will stretch with time so it’s probably a good idea to order half a size down.2nd: authenticity: They look original to me, checked everything, a good surprise is that these were made in Dominican republic & not in China. I bought them through Amazon and the color is Sahara. the quality should be the same regardless of where they’re manufactured but we all know that isn’t always the case, so that was pretty good.3rd: QUALITY: MOST IMPORTANT PART: obviously it’s still the 1st day so can’t comment on longevity but the sperry quality is fabulous and these look pretty much the real deal, the only thing is that I’m a niptick type of guy and I examined these thoroughly since they’re an internet buy. the stitching on one of the soles was subpar, and while you can’t actually see it while worn, you’d expect better. the left tongue was damaged and scratched by being pressed by the laces, while it’s not a very big deal as well, again, with this brand and price you’d expect better.4th:Color: got the Sahara since it’s the most popular. Something noteworthy is that I thought Sahara and nutmeg are the same thing since I couldn’t find the 2 colors in the same store at the same time & figured it must be 2 names for the same thing, apparently sahara is darker, I eventually saw both at Macy’s, the 10.5 size at Macy’s was a bit more roomy as well btw, not 100% sure, but I think so.BOTTOM LINE: You know what to expect with buying a top sider, it IS the real deal if you’re afraid, I’m just not 100% sure if these are considered an outlet version with very minor defects or if that even the ones on the original website have these sometimes. if you’re buying some odd color with a bargain price here, go ahead and buy it, if you’re buying one of the main colors (Sahara,Tan,etc) like I did with the same price as Macy’s and Sperry’s website for 95$ then I’d probably buy them from an actual store next time, but if you don’t want the hassle then you can go ahead, I’ll try these for the day but I’ll probably ened up keeping and enjoying these. Definitely runs small for some reason. Don’t ignore the Amazon alert about sizing (and the countless other reviews) like I did. I bought these in 11W to replace my previous 11W, but these are at least a half size shorter. Sending back for a bigger one, which should never be the case. I generally don’t buy wides, but I find the extra space helps with air flow on these, but my big toe was pressed up against the front of the shoe in this case.
I’ve had good luck buying sperries from amazon. If you are thinking of purchasing a pair of Sperry Top Siders, you should go right ahead. The only thing is deciding where to purchase the Sperrys from.I purchased a pair of Sperries in 2020 from Amazon. Those were excellent – and I still wear them today. I purchased my next pair of Sperries in 2021 from Zappos – those were not so great. The soles feel different on the ones purchased on Zappos.So I decided to buy my third pair from Amazon again. They are just as advertised. They have the classic soles and the classic fit of the Sperries that I know and love. For reference, these are actually my 10th pair dating back over 10 years.If you need sizing guidance, I would go true to size. Especially if you have wide feet. If you want to wear Sperries with socks, definitely go true to size. I’m not a style snob – I just love wearing Sperries, even in the winter. Or sometimes I am running a quick errand, and I can pop into my Sperries with the socks I already have on. Plus true to size is a much more comfortable, breathable fit than going a half size down like some people might suggest.For me, a Sperry Top Sider is the ultimate comfort shoe. More than a running shoe, more than birks, more than slippers, more than sandals. I wear Sperries so frequently and that’s because I really love everything about it from the style, to the feel, to the comfort, to the low profile, to the versatility
Happy with purchase. First purchasing shoes like this but am happy with the purchase. They don’t feel like any breaking in is necessary. Purchased my size 11.5 and they fit perfectly. The light brown one came with some scuff Mark’s which gave them a rugged look that I love. Am somewhat disappointed with the lack of scuffing on the dark brown one which makes it looks very formal but I guess with time the will get the distressed look am looking for. The comfort I will determine after wearing them a few times.
Nice Price, How long will they Last. The shoes are on sale and are exactly what I wear throught-out the year. However, several 2023 reviews show, with pictures, the soles coming apart within a month,I carefully inspected them. They look perfect and feel comfortable. So I will wait. I have shoe glues to fix them if they do start showing signs of falling apart. Hopefully this is an isolated problem. I will add to this review if the shoe develops problem.
Lasting on sandy/dirt roats with no wear. Update 9/28I have been walking about a mile every day for a month on dirt trails and pebbly sand roads with daily abuse; no wear. I did apply shoe glue on the gap on around the bottom of the shoe… I am not sure if that makes a difference. I have not been kind to these shoes.Since I mostly only wear mocasins, I find these outside mocasins extremely cofortable. I like them.My guess is if the front of your shoe, that sticks out a bit, gets caught under anything; the shoe toe will fail.I have another “sale pair of Boat shoes. I have not worn them “yet” just to see if how the shoe fails.I am surpriesed that Sperry does not reply to the shoe failures seeing that they all have the same problem and most all 1/2 feedbacks have pictures.Getting a refund on these shoes would be impossible. Great purchase. Great purchase for good money! The only thing that is not clear is: what shoe polish should be used to care for such leather shoes and how to protect the thread seam from possible damage?
Sperry Docksiders. These Sperry shoes seem to be a better quality product then the last ones I owned. I believe these shoes were made in China bc and these were produced in Indonesia.
Exactly what I wanted. I’ve been wearing Sperry’s for over 15 years and this design and color is my favorite!I’ve never bought shoes online and was slightly disappointed this specific pair is much tighter than identical black pair I’ve had for 8-years. (This said, perhaps 8-years of wear stretched my black pair out…)Sperry’s get my Seal of Excellence! They are SO comfortable, durable, and good looking! I use them for cycling, for yard-work, for construction work, for coffee-shop visiting, and for going out – versatile and timeless!5/5 – the 2-Eye Boat Shoes are a must own!
Perfect fit. I bought them for my husband and he simply loved them. The fit, comfort and ease to put on, are exactly what he looks for in a shoe. They’re great quality. I purchased a second pair in a slight different color and style too. I highly recommend.

Great boat shoe but fine for family type restaurants. I love these. I’ve been wearing these for 50 years. YIKES !!! At any given time, I have my rattiest pair for car washing and boating etc, a nice pair for casual but nice restaurants and an almost new pair I keep a shoe horn in for nicer stuff. A good price for what you get.
Poor Quality Control. I’ve been wearing Sperry Topsiders for awhile. Usually I get a year or two out of them before the threads holding the uppers to the sole wear through and leave the toe flopping around. By then the uppers are pretty worn-looking and I don’t mind replacing them. I bought the tan with white soles this time (usually tan with gum soles) and quality was worse than usual. This time, the rubber on the sole itself tore, releasing the threads that hold the upper to the sole, essentially tearing the front of the sole off of the shoe. This happened after fewer than 10 wears, mostly walking to and from the office from the parking garage.Maybe it’s the white sole that’s different because I’ve never had that problem with gum soles. Maybe it’s just this pair because this particular failure has never happened with the others that I’ve owned. Whatever the case, something has changed with recent manufacturing and I wish it would be unchanged. Pity that you can’t trust that the quality is what it used to be, especially as the cost of the shoes has risen significantly over the last decade or so.
Sperry Top-Siders Original version. Best looking and fitting of all the Sperry Top-Siders shoes. High quality product, lightweight with excellent traction. I’ve tried other models of Sperry Top-Siders, and some have synthetic interior materials and lug/treaded soles that are not are slip resistant as the Original Top-Siders soles.
Awesome. Well, they are Sperrys! I just love the black with the amaretto highlight. It is an extremely beautiful shoe. Of course they fit perfect, and they are absolutely gorgeous. I’m so happy with them!!!!
Perfect as always. Very good, comfortable and durable model. It’s my third pair in a row, previous two of different colors are still alive, one of them is already 6 years old and I wear them every season. Really affordable price for this thick type of leather (comparing to price of any nowadays sneakers)
Classic Sperry. Lightweight. I always use inserts in Sperrys. Buy your size if not wearing socks. Suggest going up half a size if you plan on wearing with socks.
Feel like Slippers. I hadn’t had a pair of top-siders in years and forgot just how comfortable they are. Seem well constructed. Only improvement suggested would be offering the Amaretto color in a slim fit. Very pleased with my purchase.

Nice looking and sturdy. I loved the look but my roomie wasn’t crazy about the color. It’s a rich color and I would recommend. Bought another pair for my brother in this color.
High quality and comfortable from first day. Comfortable to wear without socks. The insole and outsole are firm but flexible and supportive. I am glad I bought 2 pairs
Fit just right. Got these for my Dad to replace an older pair of the exact same style. He loves them.
Good looking shoes, though you can barely see the color. May hurt your foot before break-in. Pics: 1- Shoes in natural light, you can’t see the red at all. 2- Damage to my right foot from wearing the shoe for a few hours in 2023. 3- The shoes 2 years later in 2025, you can see the red in this light.Pros: Look good, comfortable enough. Can dress up or down. Very durable as I’ve had them two years and they are doing great (though, they also are very slow to break in….)Cons: These seem too tight near the toes – or at least on mine the right one is always pressing in against the base of my big toe. Picture 2 shows that it actually cut in to my foot to the point of blood after wearing a few hours. 2 years later it’s broken in enough that it only leaves my foot a little red there after hours. The shoes fit fine and are easy to take on and off so it’s not like I bought them too small. Plus my left foot is perfectly fine (I’m assuming my feet are slightly different sizes, not the shoes)Things to consider: I really liked the shoes having a slightly red color to them, unfortunately that color is almost completely missing from the actual product. You can see it in perfect lighting and that’s about it. In my picture with more natural light you can’t see the color at all, but the yellowish light lets you see it.Ultimately I like these shoes and would buy them again if they ever wore out… I’d just order a larger size.
Been wearing them about fifty years…. Ordered yesterday, arrived today, wore them around the house for awhile, felt new, walked a sidewalk mile. Still felt new but okay. No blisters. No problems with uppers.More later if things change.

Great shoe but leather stretches. This is the third pair we’ve bought for my husband as they’re worn out over time. He loves the style and flexibility of outfit pairing with these. First pair was size 14, they were big and stretched too much. Second pair was 13, closer to a better fit but ended up stretching too much again. This time I bought him a size 12 W. They are snug indeed but he plans to follow the break-in instructions to mould them to his feet. Hopefully these are the right size so they’re not some flippy floppy over time

I’ve been wearing a lot of moc-toe loafers and boots, but I didn’t have anything casual enough to wear with shorts and still look put together enough for a nice dinner.Pro’s:The toe box is nice and wide, toes. Lace system goes all the way around the back. It’s a true moccasin construction, stitched through to the sole. Very comfortable. More casual than a loafer, more formal than a sneaker. Very lightweight. A great value at $100.Cons:The sole is of course pretty thin, and I don’t know how comfortable these would be if you had to stand around all day in them. The insole, while contoured is a little thin and flimsy. I’d like to put my own insole in these, but It’s glued in. I’m. Sure they should pull out easy enough. I’m guessing they do that to keep the insole from shifting around.All in all, I’m going to stick with my 5, because I knew what they are when I ordered them, and they exceeded my expectations at $100. A very versatile, and comfortable preppy classic.
