Great for watching my digitized movies. I originally bought this because I didn’t want to fill up all the space on my iPad through iTunes Sync. I wanted to be able to carry my digital movies with me so I could watch them wherever without having a to carry a bulky portable hard drive along with me everywhere I went and worry about it getting damaged. Well, even though I can’t carry my *entire* collection with me on here (it’s only 256GB), this little device fit the bill nicely. I easily filled it up with enough movies and TV shows to keep me occupied for days (if only the iPad battery would last that long. lol!). It also makes it easy to transfer other types of files between my computer and iPad without always having to do a “sync.” What I think I like most of all though is the iPad app you can download that goes along with this device. It’s kinda pricey but to me it’s worth it. I spent a lot of time embedding information in my digital movies when I was creating them from my DVD collection, like adding the graphic covers, synopsis, actors, etc. even creating the .srt files so I could turn captions on and off if I wanted. The SanDisk iXpand app allows me to view my .mp4 files on the stick and actually *reads* the metadata I put in the file (so I can view it just like it would look if I had purchased and downloaded the file from iTunes). That’s a big deal for me. Generally you would only see a screen from the movie (not necessarily a title screen) and a file name out to the side and that’s the only way you could tell what movie you were about to watch. But with this, I can actually scroll through my movie covers instead of reading a long list of filenames. Best of all, I can spend time on long trips or waiting in long lines, etc. and not have to be dependent upon internet access, wifi, cellular, or whatever to be able to watch.

Great for phones without enough storage space. My wife uses an iPhone with only 16GB of storage. She complained to me that when shooting videos at horse events the storage fills up too quickly. I did some research and this iXpand drive seemed to solve her problem. While many users will simply use it to transfer music, photo and video files in and out of the phone, my only interest was the ability of the camera to store new photos and videos onto this thumb drive rather than in internal storage. It does this job perfectly. My wife only has to plug this into the Lightning port on her iPhone and the iXpand app (free at the App Store) launches automatically. She launches the Camera app from within iXpand and that’s it. When she gets home she spins the drive around to expose the USB connector, plugs it into her MacBook laptop and imports the photos and videos into Photo. It’s super simple.Cons:1. Yes, it sticks out out of the phone but it’s quite small and doesn’t normally interfere with holding the phone vertically or horizontally for shooting. You’ll want to unplug it after each use.2. If the phone is in a protective case, it may be difficult or impossible to plug the drive in because the plug is wider than a typical Lightning cord’s plug. In this situation, if the case is flexible enough simply peel it away from the end of the phone enough to provide access to the Lightning jack.3. The small size makes it very portable but also easy to lose. It can be mounted to a lanyard or key chain when not in use but a key chain would definitely interfere with using for real time camera storage. The iXpand can also be used as a generic thumb drive for other purposes. I’ve had very good results with other SanDisk thumb drives and don’t expect to have issues with this one. Highly recommended to users who need more storage on their phone.
SanDisk 128GB iXpand Flash Drive Go for iPhones. After plugging the drive in, it prompts you to download the companion App from the App Store. It copies okay, hoped it would be faster like USB 3.0/3.1/3.2. Either way, it did not disconnect every few minutes like my lighting cable did connected to a Windows 10 laptop. After opening up the App, you select the photos/videos to copy. Then wait for it to finish. Didn’t test a full load but I managed to copy about 350-450 photos & videos in under an hour. My only gripe is that it does not keep the files organized by date, everything is jumbled together. In Windows, I had to add the “Date Created” tag in order to separate files by month or year. The ‘Date Modified’ tag shows up by default when you create a new folder. Another quirk, if you delete the files off of the iXpand Drive, when you connect it back to your iPhone, it will show that you haven’t backed up any files yet. I can live with that. Good product, could be better. But better than a USB cable connected to a PC.
Purpose. I did purchase this IXpand drive flash Drive from Amazon, because my first impression was that it was needed to free up space. I wanted it kept on a secure flash drive. I was going to put drive in safe. But upon reading it, it says that three files should be put on the Mac Computer. Well, first of all of your an Apple Customer & have Apple products including an iPhone, you are most likely sharing or have an iCloud account. And iTunes. If you have an Apple ID, then you know that all you info, iPhone and computer is backed up to the iCloud. If not, then all you have to do is connect your iPhone charge cord to iPhone and then to computer through the USB end and transfer over to your computer. Then the matter is, do you have sufficient memory on your comfort, like a couple of Terabytes!!!This is redundant! Unless you are able Top download pictures & videos to the drive and then store the drive away, without taking up other memory in either device- iPhone or Mac!! As far as transferring them, you don’t need this flash drive at all!So therefore I have wasted my money!!!!!So unless this drive does something different… and if so ( please tell me what & if it can be used as a storage device) then you should tell people. Which by the Way, there are tons of YouTube videos that explain hope yo transfer your photos from iPhone to Mac to help you. Next time… Google and YouTube it!Thanks for not telling me Amazon!!😳

Worked with my iPhone 6 and MacBok Pro. However, my wife’s iPhone 7 and MacBook Air combination did not work well. Some files from Photo did not copy onto this device.
Super convenient, but doesn’t have a guard. I love that this is compact & portable but it only has a protection mechanism on one side. Unfortunately the phone end broke when I forgot this was in my back pocket & I sat down. But it works so great I bought another. Go figure.
SanDisk 256GB iXpand Flash Drive Go for iPhone and iPad. Simple to use just plug it in. It then brings up the app needed. Downloads within seconds and you’re ready to use. Downloaded my 2500 photos and 100 videos in very short time. I bought several less expensiveflash drives but they were junk. This one works great. Highly Recommend.
Easy – solves storage issues on long trip. This does the job – on long trips, was running out of space on my iPhone. I’m not a fan of buying storage, so was looking for another solution. This device does the trick – easy to use with the reliability to expect from SanDisk. You plug it in – gives you some instruction where to get the app (i recommend downloading the app before any trip you take) and the app directs with the rest. After some typical set up (like allow all photos, etc) you choose the photos and done – gives you the option to delete the photos off your phone. Easy Peasy. But the biggest benefit I didn’t expect is how much easier it is to transfer photos to my computer. I’m a PC user and it seems to take forever to transfer my photos and videos (especially when there’s a lot) i tether my phone to my computer directly. This device saves me on that time – i just transfer the photos over via this dongle, and then i put the dongle into my computer – easy transfer. Other benefit is – it doesn’t tie down my iphone any more.Only con of this flash drive is the rubber cover only “protects” one side of the drive. either the USB end or the lightning end will be covered, so there’s risk of damaging it if you just throw it anywhere. I have a small pocket in my carry bag so it’s not an issue, but just a warning in case you just want to keychain it or throw it around. It does the job – and gives a ton of storage – and honestly makes it easier to transfer photos to my computer vs the nightmare of plugging in my phone directly.

Easy to use. This is the perfect USB to get to download and transfer files and photos from your iphone to your desktop/laptop. It has the lightning adaptor on 1 side and a usb on the other side. It takes a few tries to get this usb to work correctly. When I first tried to copy my iphone photos it didn’t recognize my photo albums. After a 2nd try, it worked! Super easy to use once you download the app necessary to use the usb drive. Saved me from having to pay for extra cloud space!!

It was easy to use. I plugged it in and so far have loaded 250 photos. I have not yet checked on them with my computer, but this worked so well and is a name brand, I don’t anticipate any issues.
I already had a scandisc for my iPhone to do YouTube videos . Always work great. Had one before . To transfer videos from my phone to my laptop for you tube videos on evaluate and repair channel .Wanted one with more space .works great as my other one did or should I say does. I gave it to my grandson since he wanted one
High capacity and well made product. This is a Sandisk device, which right off the bat tells you this is a well made USB stick. The dual connectors are well made and fit tightly to their counter parts on your computer or IPhone.Data transfer rates are very quick.I recommend this flash drive for anyone wanting a good capacity and well made product.
SanDisk iXpand flash drive. Using this flash drive to transfer photos from an iPhone to a laptop. It’s very simple to use – download the app, plug it into the phone, backup the photos to the drive, then plug the drive into a laptop, and copy/paste. I love how simple it is – no website to log into, no accounts, just file backups. There’s plenty of options in the app to set up scheduled backups, save contacts, etc. But for my needs – this works perfectly. I needed to free up space on the phone, and still save all the photos without paying for “cloud space” every month. Very fast file transfer – over 6,000 photos (all before the movie I had playing in the background finished).

Very useful. This Flash Drive has helped me to share my videos and photos between my PC and my iPhone in a very easy way.
Works. Ok, this drive didnt work at first but i restarted my phone and wiped the drive clean. Then it worked perfectly
Works Well. Product delivered as expected and works as advertised. Easy to save photos for emergencies or to improve phone space.
