Great toothpaste. Our boxer loves it. I chose Sentry Petrodex Enzymatic Toothpaste for many reasons, the first of which is safety. Human toothpaste is not formulated for use with canines, so you need to be sure to buy a dog toothpaste if you’re going to brush your Fido’s teeth. Sentry Petrodex Enzymatic toothpaste for dogs is a veterinary strength toothpaste that uses patented enzymes that work to control plaque, prevent tartar from forming and fight bad breath. It’s a non-foaming formula that doesn’t require rinsing – perfect for squirmy dogs that would not enjoy having a small glass of water dumped into their mouth. The formula produces hydrogen peroxide, which not only helps to clean your dog’s teeth, but it will leave them sparkling white with regular use. We’ve used other canine toothpastes in the past, and although some of them clean the teeth, they leave the yellow stains behind. Its poultry flavor entices your dog, and it is specifically formulated for pets. I also like that this canine toothpaste is made in the United States. We tested about 10 different products, but each time we kept coming back to Sentry Petrodex Enzymatic Toothpaste for Dogs. The most important thing for me is that our boxer, Chloe liked it, and I’m sure most other pet owners would agree with that. Chloe loves the flavor. She’d lick it out of the tube as a treat if I would let her. Also, the texture of the toothpaste wasn’t gritty. I wasn’t sure about Chloe, but I know I wouldn’t like something gritty being rubbed all over my teeth. The texture was great and Chloe liked the flavor. But did the product actually work?Yes! It was amazing. Chloe had noticeable tartar buildup on the bottom of her teeth, and within just a few short days of using this toothpaste from Sentry it was markedly shrinking. I used this dog toothpaste twice a day for the first month that we had Chloe because her teeth were so bad, so the results would probably take longer to notice if you weren’t using it as often. The only thing I will say is that Chloe’s breath still isn’t very good. Honestly, I think the toothpaste helps, but her dental hygiene was so poor when we adopted her that her breath will never be normal. The best thing about enzymatic toothpaste is that it works with the natural power of enzymes. I don’t have to worry about harsh chemicals hurting her teeth, irritating her gums or making her sick when using Sentry Petrodex Enzymatic Toothpaste for Dogs.
Good preventative. My dog loves the taste. Two thumbs up for that!I have been brushing my dog’s teeth literally almost daily with this since he was a puppy. Only missed for the occasional day I was on vacation or out of town. Although I think it is a great preventative for build-up, I don’t know how great it would be for treatment of already built-up plaques (as it claims). I think it is probably better to begin early. Even so, my dog has some mild build up on the back teeth (despite my best efforts). But overall, I think he has faired excellently for 3 years old. (don’t mind the different-colored gums, he’s a spotted dog! 😂)I will say, don’t waste your money on the multi-sided toothbrushes. We tried those once… They are a WASTE and don’t work. At all. Get a baby or child’s soft toothbrush (for smaller dogs) or an adult soft toothbrush (for giant breeds). Take it to both/all sides of the tooth. Just sit with them daily as they learn to tolerate it. They will. My dog sits for me own his own at this point, because he likes it (the taste of the toothpaste). It goes quickly every morning now. Reward with treats after.Do need to “re-load” the toothbrush with more toothpaste pretty often, I’ve found. I do it with a fairly liberal amount of toothpaste about 5ish times while brushing. Hope this helps! Also, my dog has a VERY sensitive stomach/food allergies. He gets hot spots, had severe HI trouble, and even had eye swelling when he was a puppy related to food allergies… I have NEVER found this product to give him any GI issues or allergy trouble whatsoever.
Dog loves the flavor & actually helped control his plaque. I have nothing but nice things to say about this toothpaste. I started fostering my puppy 2 months ago and he came to my house with very concerning teeth. I initially got a different toothpaste that wasn’t flavored and my dog hated it – it was a nightmare trying to brush his teeth every day. I thought switching up the flavor might help so I gave this product a try and it’s been amazing! My dog loved the taste so much he even chewed through it when I wasn’t looking 🤦♀️ It’s been so much easier to brush his teeth since receiving this product. Not only this but after 2 months of brushing his teeth every day / every other day, I have noticed such a huge improvement which I’m very impressed by. Take this with a grain of salt though because I not only brushed his teeth but gave him dental chews every day as well.as gave him hard chews to hopefully get some plaques off while he chews through them so it might be something else or a combination of some of these that did the trick. I am very satisfied with the results though!
My Dogs Love It. I have used the poultry version for years. I felt guilt that I was not using enzyme toothpaste and got a $25 poultry version of that. The dogs hated it. The only way I could get them to happily use it was to alter Petrodex with the enzyme version every other day. But you could see the dog’s reaction when they realize it wasn’t Petrodex. I know all dogs are different so no way to know how your dog will react. But I will stick with this product. And, I did not see any difference using the $25 enzyme toothpaste. I forced the dogs to use it only for a while and I did not see the stains disappear. any faster Seems to me Petrodex worked about the same.Anyway, I am using Petrodex exclusively now. Not sure it is the best thing to do but the dogs are sure happyier
This toothpaste used to be $5.64 in November 2021. This toothpaste works for two of my rescued Pomeranians. They wouldn’t let me brush their teeth. Now they do.Back in November 2021 the price was $5.64. Now as of September 2023 it’s $12.41.Still better than paying for large dental vet bills but we have been Bidened. I like the product. The price not so much.
Great size for a dog toothpaste. I personally think this toothpaste smells horrid, but I’m sure that’s part of why my dog loves it so much. I brush my pups teeth every night and he always licks the brush clean afterwards. This toothpaste does keep plaque at bay, so it works!
Dogs prefer this brand. I have been using this product for years and it is the only toothpaste my dogs have liked. They are so excited every night for toothbrush time that they do all the work themselves, all I have to do is hold the brush. (I squeeze the toothpaste in the brush, not just on top of it) When I puppy sit, all the dogs have enjoyed their toothbrush time. My vet has never recommended their teeth to be cleaned. I never had to get my 15 year old yorkies teeth cleaned after using this toothpaste and he always got compliments on his pearly whites.
Used this with our pups for 5+ years. As you can tell from my smiling puppy, she is a fan! We’ve been using the product for the last five years, and both of our Aussies (and also our daughter’s Aussie) are excited to brush their teeth every night. One tube lasts a long time, maybe 3 months for 2 dogs with daily brushing. (We also switch out their toothbrushes as soon as they start to fray.) It doesn’t stain, seems to get the dogs’ teeth as clean as they can be with a good toothbrush, and has prevented any veterinary dental cleaning so far. That will happen in the next couple of years, but postponing it easily saved us hundreds of dollars. Definitely recommend!
Works Well. I’ve been a longtime user for my dogs and cats. First everyone loves the flavor so they are cooperative with the brushing. Second, it really does help a lot. My cat had horribly inflamed gums and plaque. After about 6mos her teeth and gums look perfect, vet even said not necessary to doin cleaning. One of my dogs is a mix that is notorious for bad teeth. Well she is 12 years old and has all her teeth and they are all still healthy.I brush their teeth daily so I go through these tubes quickly but they are so worth it
My dog loves it. I have been using this on my Jack Russell Terrier for years. She is now 9yrs old, her teeth are in great condition. No decay. This is important for your dogs health. & she loves the taste. Irs chicken flavor. It doesnt smell bad and it cleams very well. Removes plaque too.
