An Easy-To-Clean Water Dispenser. The reason I bought it, and why I like it, is because it has a wide mouth opening on the water bottle. This allows me to easily and thoroughly clean the bottle every week. It takes a few minutes. Additionally, if you like filtration, it has an activated charcoal filter at the bottom which is extremely easy to take out, clean, or replace. Also, you can remove it if you don’t want it. Usually you can use the activated charcoal filters for a long time, and they can be re-charged by boiling them for a few minutes in the microwave. On top of the highly functional design, it is inexpensive. I wish it was stainless steel, but I can live with the way it is. That’s it, but if you are interested, I have more comments in support of this type of water dispenser for cats, which you can read below (or not). The biggest problems I have had is to keep the water fresh in the dispenser for a week at a time, and to get a through cleaning at the end of the week. I also do not need a large sized container because that just wastes water for the one cat, or even two. The usual dispensers of the type we are discussing here have a very narrow mouth. It is practically impossible to get a through cleaning. Gunk builds up on the sides and near the mouth; it can’t be good for your cat. I had even more buildup with the battery powered fountain type of dispensers. Here the bowl is easy to clean, because it is not a narrow neck bottle. It takes me about 45 minutes to clean the two of the battery powered fountains every week because the buildup in in the tubes and narrow places. On top of that, it is not a fun job. My cat is also ambivalent about the fountain vs the regular bowl. When the power goes out for a day or two, you have to use an alternate. I have decided that the powered water dispenser, as good as it sounds, is actually not a good thing because it cannot keep the water fresh. With the one we are talking about here, you can change the water every day if you want – it takes no more time than it takes to get a glass of water for yourself.
Good for one cat, sticky glue hard to remove. The waterer itself is great quality, but for some reason the manufacturer decided to use some very sticky and difficult to remove adhesive to attach the product labeling to the inside of the water jar. Not impossible to remove, but annoying for something like a water container that you really want to be completely clean of weird substances of unknown health impact.I also don’t know why they put water filters on these things. Anyone who is concerned about filtering water is just going to have their own water filter of some sort and can just fill the thing from their filtered water source. Needless to say, I don’t bother to use the water filter because I can just fill the thing from the fridge. The capacity is certainly enough for one cat, and not unreasonable for two cats if you don’t mind refilling it more often.
A Practical Water Solution for Happy Pets – Bought Multiple. My approach to making sure my pets drink enough water has been completely changed by the Petmate Replendish Automatic Gravity Waterer. I like this product so much I have now purchased 4 in total.**Perfect Storage Capacity:** The 1-gallon storage capacity strikes the right balance between convenience and space-saving. It’s great for my small dogs – as its small enough for them to drink out of- but has enough water to last. It ensures they have access to clean water throughout the day.**Smart Design for Hot Weather:** While I noticed that the water “disappears” a bit faster in hot weather, I can’t fault the product for that. It’s just the nature of pets needing more hydration during those times as well as evaporation. I appreciate that this waterer accommodates their needs seamlessly.**Practical and Compact:** I’m a big fan of the smaller size of this waterer. There are larger size options, however this size is perfect for me. It doesn’t take up much room, making it a great addition for my home as well as a practical space-saver that doesnt compromise on water availability.**Minor Design Quirk:** I can confirm a few have come with a slight warp in the plastic that causes the waterer not to sit perfectly flat. However, the weight of the water itself offsets this issue, ensuring it remains functional and sturdy. In conclusion, the Petmate Replendish Automatic Gravity Waterer is a true gem for pet owners seeking a hassle-free hydration solution. With multiple purchases to my name, it’s clear that this product has earned my trust. While there are minor quirks to consider, they don’t detract from the waterer’s overall performance and the price is not bad at all. If you’re after a convenient and reliable way to ensure your furry friends have access to clean water, this product should be at the top of your list. It’s a game-changer that’s earned its place in my home!
Easy to Use and Clean – Lasts a While – Good filter. Great product. it does help ensure that we don’t have to replenish their water daily as it lasts our two 50lb dogs multiple days. The locking mechanism is secure so if it were to tip over it would not come undone. This is a helpful preventative for spills. It is fairly easy to clean because it comes apart so you can clean the bottom dish and the container separately. It is also dishwasher safe which makes it even easier to clean. It’s really easy to use, and I appreciate the filter that comes on the lid for the gravity water container, as it ensures that the water we give our dogs is clean.Love that it’s BPA free. Great price for the quality!
This might be TOO big. I originally purchased this to provide water for 3 cats but it was so big, I had to set it aside. It really is a MASSIVE waterer for cats. Make sure you check for sizes before you order! I ordered the biggest and it was almost TOO big. I ordered the 4 gallon version and it is just…HUGE! As in, you might struggle to find a spot to deploy it.It might be great if you ever take a vacation and need a long-term waterer…but for daily stuff, the 4gal version is just too big for daily use.
Filter ‘Floats’ Loose ALL THE TIME. While this has been beyond convenient for having a high capacity of filtered water for my dogs who consume water in excess, my only complaint is that the small plastic device used to keep clip the filter in place FREQUENTLY pops loose after changing it. It’s about a 25% success rate for me, and I have to continually replace the filter after just changing because I immediately notice the filter just floating around in the chamber two minutes after securing it.
This thing is huge, bring muscles. We have 2 golden retrievers that can drink a crap ton of water per day. We had a 2 gallon water fountain and they would literally drink that thing dry before evening, which then would run the pump dry, which then broke the pump. After a few rounds of CPR on the 2 gallon water fountain….. my partner ordered this 4 gallon water feeder.Let me start by saying…. this thing is massive. It’s a giant dog water barrel water keg. And I’ll add to that by saying this: one gallon of water = 8.34 pounds. X 4. = 33.36 pounds. THIRTY THREE POINT THREE SIX POUNDS of water in a keg. That you are going to PICK UP like a fat greased pig and FLIP OVER aiming the lid (which does not prevent water from coming out)…. aiming that into the properly aligned notches…. And then TWIST to lock it in.Sounds super easy.It goes more like this….. keg runs dry. You unscrew the barrel while steadying the base with your feet. No problem. Unscrew the lid and set it to the side. Clean the keg so your dog has clean water. Fill the keg on the counter by stretching your kitchen sprayer over to it (bc you can’t pick it up out of the sink without causing a hernia). After about 5 minutes of water running, your keg is full. You clean off the lid and screw that back on. Right about now you’re feeling confident… until you go to pick this keg of water up off the counter… then the awkwardness of the whole ordeal is suddenly realized. You may set the kegger back down and try a different approach. Feeling certain this new way is an improvement over your first attempt you will waddle on over to your dog bowl looking something like a mother carrying triplets. You arrive at the bowl (which was a whopping 3 steps on a regular day but 10 shuffles carrying this thing). You look at the bowl and plan your descent, visualizing all the ways this could (and will) go wrong. You decide on the controlled approach, but as you make an attempt at this bright idea you realize your kid will not hold the water in when it is upside down and your give the wall a little shower. No biggie, it’s by the down bowl and probably needed a little cleaning anyway. 2nd attempt – the pigeon kneed flip over…. It sounds as wild as this one will go. You squat with your knees together, thinking your knees can support the weight as you adjust your grip for the flip….. aaaannnnnnndddd nope. You drop the whole keg and water is peeing out the holes in the lid and gushing out from around the filter. You scream, scramble to right the keg and stop the flow of water onto your kitchen floor. You curse a little and clean up that mess. Then you realize you still haven’t placed the keg into the water bowl, and the thing is now ON THE GROUND by your feet. Ugh. This time though, you’re wiser. You study the lid and formulate a plan. You get close as possible to the front of the water bowl, line up the notches on the lid to the notches inside the water bowl. And 1-2-3 oof. OMG OMG. Ok. Not too much water. But now what?! Aaaaahhhhh!!!! Hurry up hurry up!!!! SCREW IT IN!!!! And BLOP! The thing is seated. Gulp gulp gulp. The water bowl starts to fill up. Dogs come running at the sound. And you’re standing there wondering how in the world this could be made easier. Hahaha.So. The pros, this thing holds enough water for 2 golden retrievers for 2 days. That’s a fast enough turn over to not spoil the water and a slow enough return that I’m not having to fill this thing (and repeat the above scene) every 18 hours. The dogs love it. The cat tolerates it but really the water bowl is below his level of class. The cons – it’s big, awkward, heavy, slippery, and takes some planning and a towel or two to execute. I would say, whoever is the strongest person in your household…. this becomes their new responsibility in your home. The good points – pretty much the pros repeated. It holds a lot. I’m not filling the 2 gallon water fountain every 18 hours. It’s easy to clean. It takes little square charcoal filters that go into the lid.The bad points – you need muscles and it’s almost impossible to reseat without a pretty good sized cleanupIf you have big animals and a strong person to do this, buy it. If you don’t…. Go another route.
Very small… but works perfectly. It’s for a very small dog or a cat… I bought it for some rescue Doberman pups but when I got it I realized that I had made a mistake by not checking dimensions. So I decided to keep it for my little 5 pound chihuahua and 8 pound cat to use as their community water bowl. Its so blue you cant even tell the water is in it until you reach in and feel, its so clear… I move it all over when i clean so its extremely easy to move around and it has a clear top to see when you need to refill and you can make sure your animals are drinking enough water. It’s very easy to fill up and as long as you put it in correctly, it pops right into place and fills the bowl to the proper amount and stops on its own when it hits about an 1/8″ from the top. I love the color and appearance. Its super cute even being so small. Performs exactly as I expected it to. Hope this helps in deciding whether its for you or not. I think it holds maybe 1/2 a gallon. It lasts them about a week.

Not the most stable. Good and does its job, just isn’t very big and our cats drink a list of water, but it’s nice that it is BPA free so the water stays good, very portable and easy to use. Although our cats our troublemakers and like to spill the whole thang.
Perfect. Love this small 1/2 gallon water bowl. it’s a great size for my cat, holds plenty of water, is easy to clean and I love the filter! Very happy with this!
Great dog water. Just purchased my second one, the first lasted for years. The quality is good and it’s easy to use. Holds a lot of water but easy to set down and to clean.
Great water dispenser for pet cat. I have been using this water dispenser for my pet cat and he loves it. It is very easy to use and clean all three pieces, the water tank has large mouth top to clean inside easily, the lid-filter holder cleans up easily, and the base and water dish part also cleans up really easy. The base-dish is heavy and durable plastic as well as the water tank and screw on filter holder lid-dispenser. I really like using this and my cat loves to drink fresh water from the dish. Great item all around value and high quality.
Works well, takes almost a gallon. Easy to fill jug and inv3rt to reservoir. Not as easy to get it out to clean and refill. The jug is awkward to hold. They should have incorporated a handle ( like on a bottle of milk) for easier handling.
A Great Find. My cat wouldn’t drink standing water so I always had an electric water fountain. It was a pain to clean. It was all my 20lb dog Max ever knew and he has always had stomach issues. I finally tried this gravity waterer. He took to it immediately! He drinks more water, has more energy, and acts like a pup not the almost 14-year-old dog he is. Most of all he seldom has an upset stomach. This is so easy to clean I do it every few days because Max has long hair and a little beard that acts like a crumb catcher. I got the filters. This change has made a major improvement in my dog’s life!
