  1. This Stuff is a Godsend! Helped Our Dog’s Severe Irritation Immensely. Our beautiful boy has severe allergies and his skin gets extremely red, itchy and then raw from the irritation and scratching, especially when allergy season is at its worse and he lays in the grass. We don’t want to keep him from doing what he loves and living his best life so I researched lotions, creams, ointments and balms for dogs and this is by far THE BEST one I found!! Most of the others either weren’t natural, or if they were, it wasn’t safe for dogs to lick the product. How frustrating would that be?! This one checked off all the boxes! All-natural ingredients, made here in America by a trusted company and it’s safe if the dog licks it (and what dog isn’t going to try licking it?) He doesn’t like to be touched or fooled with unless he’s being pet or player with, so that presented a challenge. But, we just followed the suggestion that came with the product of putting a treat in front of him to distract him. We put a bowl of peanut butter down in front of him and wow! I could have been cutting his leg off and I don’t think he would have noticed, lol! (Not that I would ever do that, of course. But these days, you sadly need to point out the obvious- and that was obviously a joke!) I was able to get a perfect amount of the balm on his lower belly, groin area and inside his legs (under all 4), and he let me even though the skin in those areas is very tender and sore. With just that ONE application, we noticed a marked difference!! He wasn’t chewing and gnawing at the area incessantly like he had been. In fact, he didn’t pay any attention to it at all, which was a clear indication that he felt a lot better! He licked the balm a bit here and there because I really went crazy slathering it on as quickly as I could everywhere, lol, and I think the greasiness felt a bit odd to him. But nothing to the point of being bothersome to him. He was much more relaxed and at ease since he wasn’t in pain or itchy anymore. He was visibly relieved! Which took a huge weight of worry off of our shoulders. He already has to deal with grand mal seizures after his recent diagnosis of canine epilepsy. This is now one less problem for him and for us to have to worry about. The vet was going to put him on some sort of steroid cream, which would have required he wear a cone of shame (which we’re extremely uncomfortable having him wear when he could possibly have a seizure at any given moment), and an antibiotic, all which would have cost a lot more, including an expensive vet visit. This saved us the trip and expense and it saved him the anxiety of going to the vet and suffering needlessly with the cone and meds he didn’t even need. His skin is healing so nicely now and he still hasn’t been bothered by it at all. The itch was so intense it would make him cry and gnaw at it for hours. What a relief for both him and for us that he’s no longer suffering! I plan to add more as needed but so far, one good coat is all that’s been necessary and it’s been a few days since I applied it. I got the 4 ounce tin so there is plenty left. It’s definitely worth the cost and saves you money in the end by not needing a vet trip or expensive meds (though be sure to consult with your vet about any new rash or skin irritations on your pet. This review does not constitute medical advice for your pet whatsoever). Thank you for creating such a wonderful, effective, safe and natural remedy for our precious pup!

  4. It has helped, but not a miracle cure. This does seem to help some with his licking problem, he isn’t licking as many times a day. Was hoping for a miracle just so he could be back to normal. I think we all would like to find a miracle cure. They are not so easy to find.

  5. Great salve to stop itching. This salve is wonderful my dog is allergic to something and developed all kinds of rash on his shoulders, and behind his front leg I used the Salve. He quit digging immediately, and it didn’t take a day for it to start clearing up. It is so good and it is so soothing for them.

  6. Dog ointment. This stuff is wonderful and works within days. My fathers dog is a Boston Terrier and ner belly is all red. We finally figured out the problem. All the grass and weed killers on the lawns are irritating her skin. Therefore, she can only go on his untreated lawn.

Quality of product. I like this product, HOWEVER, the past order the item was not smooth and creamy, but broke into pieces. Was very dry. I returned it and when they sent another one, it was the same. This produce was never like that. They should get rid of the old batches and send new ones. But the product does work and stops the itching.

  8. Great for my guy’s irritated skin. We have been using this for a while now and I love the new packaging. I guess we will see how the cardboard tube holds up, but I like the new direction. Nice pleasant scent, rubs in easily, and doesn’t leave greasy stains. When I am done massaging it on him, I just rub the rest into my hands and enjoy. He likes it, I like it.

  9. Great stuff. Skin Soother works great. I have even recommended it to others. It was recommended to me by a friend I now keep it with me at all times. you never know when you will need it. Best stuff ever.

  10. a good product but how you store it is everything. This is a good product for your pets that gives them instant relief when you find them scratching ears and getting them red on the inside. The compound is not as stable as chapstick or candle wax so it gets mushy and breaks down rather easily and then you will go right thru it which makes this way too expensive for what you get unless you store this stuff in the fridge in between uses. i bet we went thru 10 of these b4 we realized the best way to keep it from breaking down was to keep it cold.

  11. Very effective, but holds dirt in hair. The product worked effectively immediately on our cream and tan shih tzu. However; she went outside after rubbing the balm on her skin, and when she came back in, she was filthy. Typically, she goes outside briefly and has never gotten dirty. So, although the balm eliminated the itching, it sticks to her hair and hold dirt. Quite frankly, I will have to find a product that doesn’t stick to her hair.

  12. Good but goes quick. I do have to say that this stuff has helped my dog. She gets hotspots and has had a lot of seasonal irritation. The product was good and it’s helped her. But… where is the product? I bought the 2oz stick a WEEK ago, and color me surprised when I am putting it on her sides tonight and it’s all gone! I may be heavy handed in some things (like a glass of wine) but there is no way I went through a whole stick of this in less then a week. The packaging is a crock and now I wish I would have rolled it out to see how much there originally was. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe I’m not… but it’s going to be hard to convince me to spend that money again.

  13. A good part of a regimen. My dog got a few small hot spots on her lower stomach from squatting really low on the grass to do her business during the humid summer buggy season. To help fix this I did three things: 1. I put ear cleaning solution onto a cotton ball and used that to swipe the area clean. This works great as it had antifungals and soothing ingredients that are good for calming down the rash. After it dried I would put a layer of the balm on top to seal it in and keep it moisturized. Finally, I supplemented her food with fish oil or hemp oil to help support her skin and coat. It cleared up in a few days which was amazing! Just make sure to take your pet to the vet if the issue is persistent because it could signify that something bigger is going on. Also keep an eye out for any negative reactions from your dog. The scent can be aggravating and uncomfortable for some animals.

  14. It’s works ! Definitely recommend. Smells great! Not to heavy of a product but creamy enough and definitely moisturizes My dog got shaved down low and has dry skin sometime breakouts into rashes. She was skiddish and skin was red and she was itching, product was applied and she’s back to normal. And it smell great smelled up the whole house.Love it !

  15. IT WORKS! But your dog may not like the smell. I got this for my dogs, they were itching like mad due to the weather changing and they were causing red marks on themselves. It’s easy to apply, its like a giant chapstick, but your dog may or may not like the smell. My one dog was fine with it, the second one ran off once he smelled it, but after he realized it was stopping his itching, he dealt with the smell. After a few weeks of using it, their red marks were gone and their constant itching was gone.

  16. Almost impossible to open. This product works great and has help my puppy, but the tin can is extremely difficult to open.

  17. Dry nose fixer. The Natural Pet Company’s Snout Smother is an incredible product! The quality is outstanding—it’s made with natural ingredients that are gentle yet effective for my dog’s sensitive nose. It’s been a lifesaver for keeping my French bulldog’s snout moisturized and healthy. The packaging is both practical and attractive—the sturdy tin is easy to open, keeps the product fresh, and is portable for travel or on-the-go use. The formula itself works like a charm and has become a reliable part of my dog’s care routine. If you’re looking for a dependable solution to protect and soothe your dog’s nose, this is it. Highly recommend!

Good Product. This product really does work to soothe inflamed skin. Pleasant smell and consistency.

  19. Christina Franzese January 16, 2025 at 12:00 am

Great value. Long lasting and keeps my dog from picking all the time. Easy to clean. Works as it should. Very calming to my dogs skin. The taste must not be horrible cause it’s never made my dog sick. Will definitely buy again.

  20. Soothes skin. Love the smell, my dogs not so much. They run when I pull this out— even though it seems to do the trick (I have very short haired dogs that always get chapped a bit in the winter). 3 stars because the deodorant style container worked a lot better than their updated paper tube.
