Unexpected but great results. Our new pool is going on it’s third season. Every year we have battled green algae despite near perfect chemistry. Part of the issue may have been Scentrific lemon scented chlorine tabs that the pool store started us with since the Cyanuric acid was always on the high end and climbing and as a result our chlorine levels had to be high and I started using liquid chlorine nightly and shocked more. We were still vacuuming green algae off the pool bottom weekly. At the end of the season we closed the pool ourselves. The chemistry was good and the water was just finally clear again. We only shocked with liquid chlorine and covered, nothing else. Upon opening this season in early June the water was slightly cloudy but not green, a good start. This year I went to a different store to test the water and it revealed high Phosphates something the other store didn’t even test for. This turned me onto this product although I should have bought the other to lower the phosphates first. Since starting this product and despite fertilizer splashing in and trees dropping pollen and seed pods constantly; we haven’t seen a hint of algae despite water temps in the 80s. It’s still early but I have already spent a fraction of the time vacuuming and trying to keep chemistry and water clarity right in the first month. It’s the first time since owning the pool we have had crystal clear water more than a day or two.Full disclosure I also made one other change and that was a switch to Chlorine Tabs purchased at Sam’s club. I had done that at the end of last year but didn’t notice a difference. This year my CYA has stayed low but our Chlorine level has stayed high with the chlorinator on its lowest setting. It seems to me the tabs are dissolving slower and keeping the chlorine up=using less cholorine. This prompted me to check on this products supposed uses and reviews more closely and found many people have the same experience.I have used zero algaecide, zero clarifier, and only added liquid chlorine to shock the pool once to knock down the total combined chlorine which will always be required. I haven’t had to use anything else and other than 3 capfuls to start I only added 1 to 2 capfuls 2 weeks after the initial (not weekly as I should) and things are still going well.I admit it’s not scientific since 2 changes overlap but I am very happy with the results this product has seemingly provided. Unless those other Cholorine tabs that were replaced last season were the absolute worst you could buy (same active ingredient percentage) and I just didnt give them enough time or this stuff really works, or both.Definitely worth the price for the season for one bottle especially since i don’t need the other products and seem to be using half the cholorine.I do think it adds a smell to the water. Its slight but it makes me think of chemicals which I try to reduce my family’s exposure to. I use less than recommended until I have a problem.
Use it once a week and you’ll be happy. Over the years I’ve noticed a lot of pool stores no longer test for phosphates like they used to for some reason. Most likely if your pool is outdoors it’s going to have phosphate simply from leaves and bugs and everything else. Also from anything on your body that gets into the pool and even some chemicals you put into your pool can cause phosphates. This means that regardless of whether or not you think you have any you just should put a phosphate remover in once a week and be done with it because they are going to be there if you don’t. If this happens not only can you get scale build up on your pool where it feels slimy but it can eventually cloud the water. This should be a weekly thing along with clarifier for every pool owner regardless of how sparkling clear your pool is. It’s nearly as important as chlorine for removing things that keep your pool from looking perfect. Just know that not all brands are the same so some of them will be clear and others like this will be brown. I thought it was wrong at first too until I looked into it and it’s just the way this chemical looks. It shouldn’t discolor your water or if you use cartridge filters it shouldn’t turn them brown or anything like that. That seems to be most people’s problem once they get this as they think the color means it’s no good but it’s just the way it looks. It’s definitely a better deal than bottles half the size that your pool store that cost twice with this does. This could possibly last someone an entire pool season because you get so much more for a better price.
We use this regularly. We installed our pool in the Fall of 2006 and have used this product faithfully since then. I wish more people would use it! It kills the “food” that algae feed on so it dies. So many friends don’t use this and they seem always to be fighting all kinds of algae and having to buy all different kinds of chemicals to treat the water. this prevents that! We have a 24′ above-ground pool and use 2 capfuls once a week. Nice clear clean water always.
Helped lower phosphates in my pool. Phosphates were very high, and I did not want to drain pool during summer months. After second gallon of treatment, I started to see results.
Sparkling water. Keeps water clean and chemicals balanced.Never cloudy water. Less algae growth.I use 1.5 cupful once a week.
Eliminates “bathtub ring”. Works great Very effective at keeping the black scum ring at bay I have used it for about 10 years wish I had known about it for the prior 10 years
Works, much better deal than buying at the pool store. Because of a slow buildup of phosphates (probably due to leaves that get into the pool and have to be scooped out), I decided to go with a weekly maintenance product. The pool store where I get my water tested was pushing me to their product, but it seemed pretty expensive so I thought I’d check out online. This product appears to be from the very company that makes the product the pool store sells, just branded differently and costs less. So, far it seems to be doing its job. I just put a capful into the skimmer approx once a week while the filer is running. Water is crystal clear, no issues with algae. To be clear, this is a maintenance product to keep your water clear once you already have your water clear. This is not for fixing an existing problem.

YOU NEED THIS. I’ve been a pool owner for 15 years and this product has been a game changer! For years I fought yellow and black algae infestations spending 100’s of dollars for pool shock and algaecide treatments as they occurred from time to time even though I maintained the pH and chlorine levels religiously. The black algae is the most insidious as many may already know especially for an in-ground plastered pool. Once it permeates the plaster (especially older plaster that has become somewhat porous) there is little hope of removing it completely even with constant scrubbing and treatments. The jet black stains remained no matter what I did. I discovered the best answer by visiting dozens of pool blogs on the internet. The answer was in the phosphate levels. Recommended levels vary but most pool store tests advise 0 to 300 ppm. Algae of all sorts thrive on phosphates (it’s like fertilizer to them) and the hidden truth is you want zero (0!) phosphates period! Of course algaecide and shock treatment manufacturers don’t want you to know this therefor the 300ppm recommended upper limit. That’s way too high. Last year I purchased a bottle of Natural Chemistry Phos Free for the initial treatment to eliminate phosphates and a bottle of Pool Perfect + Phos Free for weekly maintenance and have continued the weekly maintenance since. The results have been amazing! Algae infestations have been eliminated (knock on wood!). Even the permanent black algae stains have faded until they are almost imperceptible with no additional scrubbing required. It took a couple of months for them to fade so don’t expect overnight results, be patient, it works! I highly recommend these two products.

Great product, fantastic price. I have been using this weekly in my skimmer to keep my pool sparkly clean. So far, it has done a great job of keeping my chemicals balanced and my phosphates low. Much better price than my local pool store, and produced by the same manufacturer.
Reduces phosphates, slows algae, but requires backwash. Does what it says. Algae doesn’t take off so easily. However, I thought this would be like the “weekly” liquid had before that you can add each weak without backwashing, but you have to: (1) add a considerable quantity, (2) run your pump for 48 hrs, and (3) backwash. Major pain compared to the weekly stuff. That said, it is effective.

Great Stuff…but what is the sediment I am hearing inside the bottle. I have used this for over 7 years, but the last few bottles I have ordered look different in color…not as creamy-coffee looking as before, and I can hear sediment particles in the bottom of the jug. Obviously, it is not affecting the performance, but there is a lot of solid stuff slosshing around in the bottom….Anyone else??
Remove Phosphates. This worked amazing and I have a pool cleaning business
Great Product. Use all the time, have for years helps keep pool balanced against phosphates.
Best deal. Best price! Works great
