  2. Best price and doesn’t raise the CYA levels in your pool. As a pool owner in Texas, our pool gets really hot during the summer, especially this summer with triple-digit temps for the foreseeable future. We are constantly battling algae due to the really warm water and shock (stabilized) often. Sodium Dichlor (stabilized shock) contains Cyanuric Acid (CYA), which allows your chlorine to last longer in the sun—UV rays don’t burn it off as fast. But, using stabilized chlorine also causes the CYA levels to rise in your pool water. If those levels get too high, it does the opposite and reduces the effectiveness of chlorine. The only way to reduce these levels is to dilute the water in your pool, meaning drain some water out and replace it. When you pay for waste and water, it raises your MUD bill. It also messes with the chemical balance of your pool, so it turns into costly and frustrating cycle.HTH Pool Shock Advanced is not stabilized, so it won’t affect your CYA levels. You can safely shock your pool and not worry about CYA leveled rising. The downside is that your chlorine degrades more quickly, so you have to use more chlorine but if you figure out a routine, alternating stabilized and unstabilized chlorine, you’re golden. This is the best price I’ve found for the HTH shock. I used to get it at Costco, but finding it there is hit or miss. What’s also nice is that you can put this on your subscribe & save and get it even cheaper, which is what I have done. Highly recommend.

I can’t get over how amazing this shock is. I read all of the reviews for this product and needed something that wasn’t so expensive, like what you get from the pool stores, but that was going to be just as strong, if not better than what you’d get from the pool stores. This is it!!!!This summer has been HOT in the SE region and I’ve battled algae a couple of times so far this season…but before buying the expensive algae killer chemicals, I threw three of these bad boys in the pool late one afternoon. I mean, the pool was already turning a dark green/dark yellow and was definitely a long ways a way from the crystal clear water I’m used to. Literally by the next morning, I walked outside and to my utter amazement and total surprise, the pool was crystal clear. I wish I had taken pictures to show how well this worked.I’ve continued using this product every week along with a chlorinator and I’ve never seen a shock work so incredible well. I’ll be buying this brand for life or as long as they keep selling it!!!

  4. Good option to maintain my pool clean. I was spending a lot of money buying chlorine, anti algae, PH +, PH – and etc and my pool always got dirty and green at least once a week.So I bought this pack and I’m using one pack per week as suggested by the manufacture and my pool has been clean since I started.Sometimes you will need to use 2 packages depending on the amount of rain in your region. But was the better option that we found.

  5. Great Shock without risk of stabilizer creep. I use Liquid Chlorine for my pool. All Chlorine types have disadvantages… Liquid Chlorine adds total dissolved solids to the water…. the problem with most shocks is that they add cyanauric acid (CYA) (stabilizer) to the water… a little CYA is good, it provides sunscreen to minimize Chlorine escape. Too much CYA makes it nearly impossible to keep your pool balanced. It’s VERY hard to get CYA levels back to normal once it goes over the top.Anyway… this is a calcium hypo shock… you must have a working level of CYA in your water to use this… If you don’t know what your stabilizer level is… take your water to a pool store for analysis or use a test kit… accurate and inexpensive kits are available on Amazon. I don’t trust test strips….too inconsistent. We had a rain storm while I was on the road… I had the start of yellow algae…. I put one gallon of bleach and scattered 1 package of HTH in the pool… and the next morning the n pool was sparkling again. Ad with ANY shockplease limit swimming until the Chlorine levels reach a safe value.
