Nice looking product but assembly instructions are terrible. I have been recently working on setting up my home office. We moved into an apartment 7 months ago, and until this month were basically just using the office space for a storage. I am all about being thrifty whenever possible & found this item for a ridiculously thrifty price (I paid $66.98 for the desk & matching book shelf!), so I have to say that made me very happy. I did not have high expectations, considering I am a firm believer in that you get what you pay for as a consumer, at least in most cases. But I have to say, I am quite pleased with the product. It is the perfect size for a small office. It’s not big & bulky like many of the other desks I viewed. I wanted something simple, compact, & a good size to work on my laptop while doing homework. This product is just that. I would not recommend having a full size monitor, although I imagine it would be sturdy enough as long as the hard drive is kept on the bottom shelf. My only complaint is regarding the assembly instructions. I felt like I was figuring out some obscure logic puzzle. During my young adult years, I often bought cheap assemble-it-yourself Ikea products & never had any difficulty putting the items together. This assembly process took me much longer than I had expected. The biggest issue was figuring out where these wooden pegs (I forget what they call them in the instructions) go. The parts are also misleading because I was only supposed to use 4 of these wooden pegs to attach the desktop to the “legs,” if you will, but I used 6 because there were 6 holes (3 on each leg which they refer to as B & C or something like that) & I was even more confused because they kept referencing that there were 8 of these things.I also got kind of annoyed because I didn’t hammer the wooden peg down far enough on the legs & when I attached the desktop the peg started to poke through the particle board. So make sure you hammer it down far enough before attaching the desktop.Bottom line while assembling: use 4 pegs to attach the desktop to the legs (2 on each leg), use 2 to attach the small board on the right of the laptop in the pic to the desktop, and 2 to attach the top shelf. Be sure to hammer the pegs far enough into the legs so that you do not damage your desk. The finished product looks great & the matching bookshelf pulled the office together. I will write a separate review for that one.
Good option for cheap and small desk needs. I purchased 2 of these desks to turn a living room into an at-home office while working from home for the foreseeable future. The reasons for purchase were:1. Price – I wanted something cheap because I envision putting the desk into storage after I return to work2. Size – I needed something smaller and light-weight because I have limited space and need to be able to shift things around when my “office” transforms back into my living room on weekends3. Function – I wanted something that held a laptop and extra monitor, maybe had extra room but not a ton was neededI got what I paid for. Assembly was easy and yes, it functions as I expected. I can fit my things on the surfaces, and while it’s slightly cramped on the main desktop area, it’s still usable. Size of the desk is fine for me (I’m 5’2″) but a little bit small for my husband. The extra shelving is nice for notebooks, pens, water bottles, etc. The pieces of the desk are somewhat scratched and scuffed, and were very dirty when taking them out of the box. I’ve wiped down a couple times and still find dust/dirt spots, so may take a few more passes. Regarding assembly, there are small plastic “feet” that nail into the bottom, though I can’t tell if they actually help because the desks are pretty wobbly and wouldn’t stand up well if accidentally bumped. I’m not worried about it falling over as I type, but there is some wiggling going on with gentle movement. May need some tightening on the screws (but both are like this – one worse than the other). The only big issue I have with the desk is that the edges of the desktop are quite sharp. Not to the point of drawing blood, but definitely not comfortable when resting my arms against it while typing. The edges could stand to be rounded to maybe minimize this. I may end up finding some way to cover it to provide a little more padding to prevent my forearms from bruising.Overall, yes, I’d recommend this product for a person looking for a cheap desk option that can be moved around as needed. It isn’t the Cadillac of desks by any means, but it does serve the purpose, especially for what it cost.
Decent. Let me start by saying I pretty much never have bad experiences with purchases on here and i always give benefit of the doubt to companies- but i guess i was due for one non-smooth purchase. The desk is reasonably priced and I love the faux-washed wood design. It is sturdy but not enough to trust an older computer on it. Laptops or new slim monitors only. Highest top shelf is 15.5in x 11.5in so maybe a slim mobile printer like Canon Pixma ip110 might fit. Looking into it myself. The desk looks just like the other photos here. Now as far as my experience pre-build: I want to say based on the other reviews, people these days think a reasonably timed build is the same as easy-install. It is NOT. For one, not only do you need a screwdriver for this but you NEED a mallet or hammer. Once you start needing more than 1 thing outside of the package- “easy” install phrase starts losing points. (& NO everyone does not have a screwdriver and hammer wherever they choose open their packages.) I had to wait a month just to order a tool box to complete the desk. On top of that the actual instructions are simple to people whom are used to putting similar things together BUT to a person not used to it, it makes them sit and analyze for many minutes before even touching a single screw.. which also knocks off “easy” points. Did i build it fine after waiting for the tools needed to even make it? Yes. But i have had other things bigger and more pieces than this item that literally came with a baby screwdriver and had simple instructions just stated put A to B then C to D etc. This is more on the Ikea side compared to other easy-install truly up-within-15-mins, sturdy desks on here. Also: Remember its all particle board, if you dont screw straight it could split the pieces like ppl in reviews have stated. All in all, you get what you pay for. Lol decent price, decent (not easy) install, decent desk.**UPDATE: I did purchase the Canon Pixma ip110 printer. The newer model is Canon Pixma tr150. I would Google (not just on here) the most reasonable price and get it! Mobile printer that you can take on a road trip and print in the car if you buy the extra little ‘mobile’ battery and prints via computer or off smartphones. I love it. When i close it, you cant tell what it is and fits perfectly on this desk. Very neat.
Manual. First of all I want to say that the product did not came with the manual on how to build it in my situation. I instead read the manual on pdf in here, but was disappointed when the steps were all over the place. There were some stuff that I would’ve preferred for them to put in step before even everything together. For example for the (9) nut, I found out later later at the end when my table was wobbling that I wasn’t suppose to put it in first but afterward when (A) was placed on (B)and (C). Because then the (9) nut would do the job of tightening the screws from (A) . If I have the resources to add more nails and screws maybe I would too because they messed up on my (G) as the hole they made to connect (G) and (D) were not at the right place. I had to force one of the screw through . I would not recommend this to a friend as it is difficult to overcome the situation if it was happen to be worse than what I encounter. Good thing about it is that it does not take too much space and good if you need a workspace for laptop cause I also have my own computer set which had took over the whole table. I would be worry if it ever fell backward because of an accidental kick . But yeah it looks nice just the labor that took me awhile. Not sure of the reliability but it looks doable for now.
Great value. This desk was less than $40! Looks great. LOVE the color! Not extremely sturdy, so I wouldn’t recommend it for heavy items or children’s rooms. But it looks great and will easily work as a small vanity or work from home space! You can see a standard dining chair under it is a bit tall, but I wanted a smaller desk. The bed next to it is 30in tall. Frame 18in mattress 12in.We were having the same issues the other reviewers mentioned when they said they shelves were not alligning with the poles. We had the shelves upside down. Try flipping some pieces of things aren’t fitting right! There is also a video on YouTube for assembly.Overall I would recommend this to a friend as you get exactly what you are paying for! A cheap desk that gets the job done 🙂
This desk is great. Awesome desk, amazing price- I got it on sale for less than $30! It took me about half an hour to put together and it’s the perfect size! Definitely sturdy enough for a teen to do their schoolwork at, I would advise to wipe it down as you take it out of the box though or else the flaky styrofoam specks will get all over. All I needed was a Phillips screwdriver and a little bit of patience. Instructions were very clear and easy to read, just pay attention to the holes/positions of planks in the pictures so you don’t get anything backwards. Excellent purchase would highly recommend!
Easy, Stable and Sufficient. This small desk is adequate for what I got it for and that’s for a tight/small space requirement. It does the job nicely and not something you’d want to have if you need something bigger. The instructions are easy to read and assemble by, save for maybe some of the diagrams and pieces require a little squinting. It is by the numbers an easy process to get this built in under 10 minutes. As for the final product, it’s presentable and it’s something you need that’s affordable. Quality wise, to give an idea, it’s up there with what you’d expect out of a Mainstays product from wal-mart. However, you’re paying less for this than $35 for the same thing.
Compact but useful. I was looking for a desk with some storage or shelving on it and all of them either had poor reviews, weren’t the right size or didn’t have enough shelf space for what i was looking for. I ended up deciding to try for a smaller desk and get a bookcase as well and i found this desk and fell in love. Assembly was so easy, i had it put together in under and hour. All the things i wanted on my desk fit where i wanted them and it looks amazing in my open living/dining room area. I haven’t had any issues with it wobbling or feeling unsteady, if you were rough with it when putting it together or if it was handled roughly during delivery maybe the quality doesn’t seem good but in my experience it has great support and can hold its own.
Used in my college dorm. I used this in college next to my bed as a nightstand/desk/vanity considering I had limited space in my dorm. Sorry I have no pictures from when I had it. But, the triple shelf worked great as I used the top shelf for my makeup, the middle shelf for my perfumes, and on the bottom shelf I had a 3 tier Desktop organizer which I used for my school supplies (folders/binders/misc). With these desk shelves, I made sure to put my makeup on the top as it was light/ easy everyday access.. the middle shelf for perfumes because they were light, and the bottom shelf for my school stuff because it was the heaviest stuff. On the desk part, I had a clock lamp in one corner & a stand up mirror in the other & still had space in the middle. On the perfume shelf, I kept a coaster there too for when I wanted water next to my low-to the ground bed. It doesn’t come with a chair but I used a stool chair from 5 below & it fit perfectly & could tuck under. It was easy to build, and the color was great, looked like real wood. In terms of sturdiness, I had it on carpet which helped, but it was a bit wobbly. This is not a desk that would be comfortable for adults unless they are 5’3 or smaller like me but it is functional for a great price! Hope this helps!
Good Compact Desk. This desk is a pretty good option because of it’s compact but decently comfortable size. It wasn’t the hardest thing to out together and overall is a good quality. It doesn’t feel the sturdiest, but it can still hold things. Overall a good value desk.
Computer Desk. What I like about this product is that This desk is very budget-friendly, making it accessible for me, it’s a basic work desk without breaking the bank. The desk’s small footprint makes it ideal for tight spaces, such as dorm rooms, small apartments, or home offices with limited space. The inclusion of square shelves offers extra storage for books, office supplies, or decorative items, helping me to keep the workspace organized I find the desk relatively easy to assemble, often coming with clear instructions and requiring minimal tools. Lastly, I love The Espresso/Black color combination provides a sleek, modern look that can fit into various home decor styles.
Perfect size and price for my projects. The only thing I disliked about this product was the delivery. The package was delivered incorrectly, with damaged packaging, and broken parts. I can make it work and am in the middle of a project so I don’t have the time to return and replace. This is more a frustrated critic of the only driver to do a bad job. All of the other deliveries have been fantastic.
Not particularly sturdy. So I realize this is described as a laptop desk and with that in mind I gave it 3 stars instead of the fewer I was tempted to give. While I expected it to be small, wanted small in fact I really wasn’t expecting it to be quite so flimsy. It still works for my purposes though I do question it’s probable longevity so I won’t be returning it but I would likely pass it by in favor of something that looked more sturdy if I had it to do over. And honestly I would not be surprised if I’m looking for a replacement in a few months because this thing just didn’t hold up.I am using it for an actual computer and said computer is an old vintage model with a crt monitor but I do think the items on the desk still fall within weight limits. 😅 I just worry despite that the whole darn thing might collapse eventually. I’m probably not giving it enough credit and hopefully it defies my expectations I just won’t be holding my breath. Now onto the general stuff. The particle board on all components is fairly thin. The “legs” are just that same thin particle board. Obviously no storage beyond the shelves but that is sufficient if you don’t have a ton of stuff. If you use an external keyboard with any setup you put on this I do recommend a keyboard tray because really the space on the desk itself isn’t going to feel adequate for more peripherals than a small laptop and mouse. Also I’m 5’4″ around 128 pounds and while the height and size of the desk is completely fine for me I’d bet for anyone particularly tall or large it might feel rather cramped.
100% worth its value. I must confess the desk comes a bit scratched with its pieces but nothing that ruins it completely. its true to size perfectly fitting in my room. Its so easy to build as a 18 yr old girl building it by hand and the shelf on the side not inly LOOKS good with its raised side but also is PERFECT in holding everything I need maximizing the space I need. Its not wobbly whatsoever and Has no chances of breaking anytime soon with its quality.
Well worth it. Fairly easy to assemble. Fairly sturdy materials. I bought this as a temporary/starter desk area for my laptop and PS5, thinking it would be a delicate piece of furniture, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. It’s certainly not solid hardwood, but it won’t sway and flatten by accidental bumps and kicks.Measurements given in description are very accurate. The bottom shelf area comfortably fits a PS5 on it’s stand. This thing might just be more permanent than I had originally anticipated.
