Great coffee and a cold brew system built to last. This rugged and economical setup makes great cold brew coffee — and you’ll never need to buy a disposable filter.I’ve tried several systems, but this is the best value so far. The Ball jar is nearly bombproof and very easy to clean. Lids are standard, so you can pick up extras (and replacement jars) pretty much anywhere. The screen filter is stainless steel, also easy to clean, and should last for years. The only thing that’s likely to wear is the silicone seal. Fortunately, they’re inexpensive, so you can stock up.I’m used to weighing my coffee, but you can be much more casual with this brewer. In my case, I started with a good-quality but inexpensive dark roast, Seattle’s Best #4. The pre-ground stuff works fine, though you’ll want to grind it more coarsely if you work with whole beans. The instructions aren’t kidding when they say leave at least an inch of freeboard as you fill the filter. If you don’t, it will be hard to pour the water through your grounds. I actually leave a bit more space than that (maybe 3 cm).Just spoon your coffee in loosely. Don’t tamp it down and don’t stir. Once you’ve poured water through the grounds to about the 1.5-liter mark, seal things up and give it a good shake. This is what fully wets the grounds. I usually reopen the jar and pour a bit more water on the seal and top of the screen to remove any grounds or sediment before setting the jar aside to steep. For me, 24 hours at room temperature yields a rich brew. You can leave it longer for stronger coffee, but you will run the risk of natural fermentation the longer it sits. This can be offset by brewing in the fridge. If you go this route, you’ll also double the brewing times. And who has time for that? I’m ready to get at my cold brew as soon as possible, even running two brew jars at a time. With the coffee and method described above, I use the concentrate full strength for cold coffee with a splash of milk over ice, and cut with water by about a third for hot. Your mileage may vary. There’s no one right way to make coffee. I still use my Aeropress for metro and lighter roasts, and pour-over fans will probably feel the same. Those methods give you more control for bringing out the best in top-quality beans. But my French press is feeling a bit lonely since I started using this system. It’s easy to get hooked on the smooth, sweet-tasting finish of cold brew, and this is the most economical and convenient brewer I’ve discovered to date.

  2. First time cold brew user – get this one. I wanted to make my own cold brew after having it for the first time a few weeks ago. As every online article will say, “it’s so simple and easy to make.” They’ll also go on to tell you the hundreds of variables and nuances and formulas for different recipes and methods. So despite the inherent simplicity of the method, the bar to entry can actually seem a little high (or at least like you’ll mess something up if you don’t read enough). That’s all to say that I research WAY too much before picking this cold brewer. It should absolutely be your choice to start making cold brew at home, for these reasons:1. The mason jar itself is, well, a mason jar, so it’s exponentially more durable than other cold brew carafes at this price point (if you read the reviews for some other common products, you’ll notice the carafes can break or shatter–some have even added rubber covers to keep this from happening. There’s no danger of that with a thick mason jar). 2. The parts are more or less interchangeable if you have a second mason jar, and they can also be ordered individually from the manufacturer if you break or lose one. That’s huge–so few companies do that these days. There’s no danger of needing to buy a whole second set to replace one gasket or lid.3. The non-mason jar parts seem to be really well made. As with all cold brew, you can’t grind the beans too fine, but even after I made my first batch after grinding a little too fine, the filter barely let any seep through. It’s a quality metal with no sharp gaps or overlaps. The lid screws on tight, the flip cap works well for pouring – it’s all good. And they can all go in the dishwasher…can’t get easier than that.4. Especially if you get the bigger size, it’s so important that this actually screws airtight, which will keep your cold brew fresh for much longer than some carafes, which simply have a cork top or loose lid. If you’re going to invest the time and grounds to make a large batch, it’s better to have it last as long as necessary. Some reviewers complained about the price given that it’s essentially a custom cap and filter for a pre-existing mason jar. That’s part of the beauty, and isn’t a negative in my opinion. The whole thing is well made, from an American company, is incredibly easy to use, and seems like it will last a long time. If you are on the fence about which cold brew maker to get, don’t hesitate to start here. It’s well worth it.Because every review also offers the author’s individual recipe, let me just say that I didn’t even bother measuring or portioning out a ratio. I eyeballed the grounds into the filter according to the booklet, left some space at the top, and poured purified water into the jar (our tap water isn’t the greatest here). 24 hours in the fridge, then pulled out the grounds. Splash of half and half into the cup, pour the coffee in, done. All it takes. You’re welcome to experiment with different combinations of counter and fridge time, or some regimen of shaking the grounds as some have mentioned, but it’s really not necessary. Don’t be put off by those particulars.Get this cold brewer.

  3. Durable and Functional, Tasty Coffee. This is an awesome cold brew maker. I’ve had it for almost 6 months now, and have enjoyed using it every time! (The “recipe” I use is at the bottom of my review).PROS:• Mason jars are known to be very durable, resistant to breakage, and can handle wide temperature fluctuations. This large two-quart jar is no different.• No leaking. The seal on the flip top of the cap, the seal around the mouth of the lid/jar, and the seal that the filter rests on are all working great. I’ve never had issues.• Easy to clean. The brewer has the same size mouth as the standard Ball wide mouth mason jar, so my small hand (and probably most others) fit easily inside to clean. The metal filter is very narrow so I soak in warm, soapy water and scrub with a bottle brush. The filter is a fine mesh, so it does take a while for a thorough clean, but I only clean it thoroughly after a few times of use.• Tastes great! I followed the instructions in the booklet it comes with. You’ll probably have to play around with the coffee to water ratios to find your perfect taste, but the good news is if it’s too strong you dilute with water, too weak and you add more grounds and let it “brew” longer.CONS:• If you make cold brew with the grounds in the filter and then you want to drink some a bit early, but want to let the grounds still stay in the filter to steep, you will have to take the filter out each time to pour your serving. The lid does not have an additional filter inside it to keep the grounds in the filter from going in your cup. The coffee in the filter is water logged so you’ll have to set it in a bowl so you don’t have coffee running everywhere. It’s just a bothersome process. A way around it would be to put the grounds directly in the jar with the water, add the filter empty, and then you wouldn’t have to take the filter out to pour the brew. This is not a deal breaker for me, but is only mildly annoying. It’s literally the ONLY con I could think of. You won’t be disappointed if you purchase this product. This product would be above and beyond awesome if:• If the cap had an extra filter (either permanent or removable) so the inner filter (full of grounds) wouldn’t need to be removed to pour the cold brew.• If the cap was a solid color. The jar would look more aesthetically pleasing on the counter or in the fridge if it was a solid black or solid gray. Obviously this doesn’t affect performance of the product, and many people may not care what it looks like, but clean aesthetics DO improve some people’s experiences of products.SWEETENED COLD BREW RECIPE (makes 2 quarts):• 2 cups hot water• 1/4 cup sugar• 1.5 cups ice cubes• Coffee grounds, coarsely ground, filled up to 1” from the top of the filter.• Cold tap water, filled until 1/2” from bottom of lid. *** Pour ice cubes in cold brew maker. Heat water, dissolve the sugar in the water. Pour sugar water over ice cubes to cool the water temp and melt the ice. Water will now be at room temp or a little colder. *** Add coffee grounds in filter, place in mason jar. Pour cold water through filter, swirling jar to mix with the sugar water, until at correct level. *** Leave on the counter or in fridge for around 12 hours. After it has brewed to your desired strength, store in fridge and use within 2 days for best taste. *** Pour sweetened cold brew over ice, add half an half (or other unsweetened creamer/milk) to the top and watch the pretty swirls😍 Enjoy!

  4. ❤ BEST TASTING – SMOOTH; NOT BITTER; LESS ACIDIC TO STOMACH ❤. I discovered cold brewing coffee and tea a few years ago. (I do 12 hour cold brews of coffee and various teas in the refrigerator.) I was delighted by the smooth, bitter-free taste of cold brew, compared to hot brew. … I’m thrilled by the quality, practicality and durability of THIS cold brew system. I wash the silicone gaskets by hand (takes only seconds). I wash the handled lid and filters in top rack of dishwasher and 12 gallon mason jar on bottom rack. I keep plain tea or coffee only in the 12 gallon jars, so feel comfortable brewing two or three batches before putting in the dishwasher. I have 3 half gallon jars in my fridge at all times, one with decaf coffee, one with a random herbal tea, and recently for summer, I brewed a batch of green tea. I used the green tea to make a 12 gallon of fruit smoothie (+ cherries + plain yogurt). I drink a cup of the smoothie with breakfast, to pack in a quick serving of fruit & probiotics. It’s delicious and easily sustainable. I usually brew all 3 jars at once, and empty the grounds & tea bags into a small zip lock baggie for a mess-free disposal.

  5. Couldn’t Be Easier. I have had this for a few years now and am going back to get a second one for my parents. I love cold brew but hated the idea of needing to get expensive pre-portioned packets which can get expensive. The device has no frills and is simple to use. Fill up the filter with coffee grinds and then let it sit at room temp for two days or put it in the fridge for three days and then remove the filter and dump the grinds. I found that the quality of the grinds didn’t matter too much so i opt for the cheaper bulk product for my cold brew as this takes a fair bit of grind if you are going to fill the filter completely. Highly recommend this product to all cold brew lovers.

  6. High Quality and Simple to use. I have owned this product for almost a year and a half now. This makes the smoothest cold coffee and it’s so simple. I corse grind a medium roast Caribou coffee. Fill the stainless steel filter to about an inch from the top. Slowly add quality water right to the top, no city chlorinated water. Put the lid on and place it in the refrigerator. I like 48 hours to really extract the flavor but 24 hours cut the mustard if you can’t wait.I have a Caribou glass that has air in between to insulate and keep the coffee cold once pored. I prefer not to add ice so I retain the strong, smooth, acid free taste. It is the best cold coffee you will ever make at home. I do like hot coffee in the winter months but hot summer morning require cold brew. Friends and family that have tried my cold brew can’t believe how wonderful the coffee taste. This is made of quality stuff and still looks like new after almost a year and a half. Get it before this hot summer is over!

  7. Impressive Filtering. I really like this cold brew jar and filter. The jar is heavy duty but what really impressed me was the coffee filter. I use a typical ground coffee sold at just about any grocery store and there are no grounds in the coffee. The finer sediment is minimal. I wish I purchased a larger one.

  8. So easy to use. I spent time reading reviews of cold brew coffee brewers. This one had great reviews and seemed easy to use. It comes with an information brochure that tells you exactly how much coffee versus water to use and even provides a few recipes. I followed the instructions and am really happy with the results! I did brew the coffee about 16 hours as opposed to 12. Hint: to get the foam like you see in coffee shops- just use a frother and half and half. Delicious!

  9. I am absolutely thrilled with my Cold Brew Coffee Maker! This Mason Jar Pitcher has become an essential part of my morning routine. The design is not only charming with its classic Mason jar aesthetic but also highly functional. The durable glass construction ensures that my cold brew stays fresh and delicious for days. What’s great is the simplicity of the brewing process – just add coffee grounds and water, let it steep overnight, and wake up to a smooth and flavorful cold brew coffee. The stainless steel filter is a game-changer, making cleanup a breeze and eliminating the need for disposable filters. Plus, the pitcher is easy to store in the fridge and pours without any drips or spills. It’s convenient, efficient, and produces the perfect cup of cold brew every time. Highly recommend!

This cold brew pot is crafted from sturdy and durable glass. It operates efficiently and does not leak when pouring coffee, ensuring a mess-free experience.

  11. Very easy to use, good quality materials like thick glass and a tight seal. I stored it on its side in the fridge to test the seal for camping and it held up. Makes delicious cold brew. Make sure to use coarse grind or you may end up with some very very fine coffee grounds in your coffee. I find 24 hrs makes the perfect brew. I would buy again.

  12. Nice Quality- made “concentrate”. Ive always bought the cold brew “concentrate” from the store where i was able to just use one cup of the concentrate and then mix equal parts with whatever mix (water, creamer, premier protein, etc) and that was enough for my daily coffee.I was worried this wouldnt be strong enough and id have to use more, or that it wouldnt be more cost efficent over just buying the bottles at the store.I saw someone in the reviews post that it came with specific instructions for concentrate for them but mine did not, so ive included a photo of the current instructions as of Aug 2024. I ended up brewing mine for 48 hours and I am happy to say that it came out nice and strong and i was still able to do my 1:1 mix of coffee vs creamer.Over time this will work out being cheaper as the bottles i was buying were 11 bucks for 4 cups of coffee.I bought a bag of coffee from target for 8 bucks (which i could probably shop around for a cheaper option). I bought a 10 oz bag and used over half of it, so it does take a good amount of coffee to brew. Either way though, ill get 3 rounds out of 2 bags of coffee at 16 dollars versus 33 for 3 bottles. The coffee tasted really good and smooth and there were zero grounds in it. The process is super easy and the bottle is actually very nice quality. (I got the 64 oz one with a handle).Hope this helps someone who might be wondering about the strength!!!

  13. It is the perfect size. I needed a 1/2 gallon container to make tea. It is a square shaped Mason jar. Very strong. It stores in the fridge very well. The pour spout/ handle is strong. It looks nice and is easy to use. There is no after taste like there is with plastic.

  14. Perfect container. This is a perfect sized glass container for keeping my brewed coffee cold. Easy to pour out later for iced coffee. Easy to handle, easy to clean. Love it.

  15. Best product. I bought this pitcher and am in love with it. The pitcher is gorgeous, sturdy, easy to fill and easy to clean. It arrived quickly and well packed. After seeing the great quality of it and went back and purchased two more for my children. This pitcher is not only aesthetically beautiful but so functional. Definitely a 10 out of 10. If i could I would give it more than five stars!
