Easy to assemble but…. We received our stools today and I immediately assembled them. I used my own allen wrench because it has a more comfortable handle. Assembly was simple and fairly easy if you don’t fully tighten everything until you have engaged all the screws and dowel pins. All the parts and screws lined up well and after engaging all the dowels and screws I tightened them up. The instructions advise not to leave any gaps at the joints and you have to use a good bit of ‘elbow grease’ to turn the screws into the pilot holes. While ‘snugging up’ the joints, one of the screws snapped. (See included the picture) Fortunately, enough of the screw was still protruding so I was able to clamp on with some vise grips and remove the broken screw. Now, I’m not a weakling but I am just months away from turning 70. I spent many years working in the furniture business which included lots of assembling of furniture and I snapped off a few screws in doing so with a power driver but not by hand. The screws could definitely be better quality than those provided. Since I’m not the only person who’s mentioned this issue, it might be nice to include a few extra screws in the event one breaks.Other than the issue with the screws, the stools look nice and are as expected. I noticed the voids that some mentioned (I assume these are knots or voids in the wood that have been filled and finished over) on the black stools we purchased, these look pretty natural so it’s no biggie.I just need to head to the local hardware store and buy a screw or two that shouldn’t have broken.
Great barstool if you can get one free of defects. These counter height barstools are study and nice-looking… if you can get your hands on a set that is free of defects. I needed 4 barstools so I ordered 2 sets of 2. I ended up needing to order 2 more sets, so 8 barstools in total, in order to end up with 4 barstools that were free from defects. The defects were on the seats. There were places that looked like defects that were filled in with some sort of wood glue or other filler product and were then painted over. The glue, or whatever it was, was slightly raised above the surface of the wood around it. These defects were very noticeable. Once I was able to get 4 of the 8 assembled, I was happy with how they turned out.
Scuffed but solid. Reading other reviews before purchasing I figured I may get stools with scuffs and I did. That’s the reason I’m taking off one star. They won’t come out either BUT considering the quality and what I paid I’m overall satisfied. Seeing made in Thailand on the box initially put me at ease. The seats themselves are very heavy duty wood with good weight to them. I believe the legs are a different wood as they’re lighter but they don’t feel cheap. I didn’t realize there’s a stainless foot rest on one side of the stool so that’s cool. For the love of god DO NOT put this thing together using the included Allen wrench. You’ll be there all day killing your hands and it won’t get tightened or torqued properly. I used a ratcheting screwdriver and made darn sure everything was super tight.
Surprisingly perfect. I’ve been nervous to try any Amazon branded products. I bought these because we were having a party the following day and needed additional seating; these were so inexpensive that I thought, “well, they only need to last the day to have been worth the money”.I was impressed by how well they were packed. The boxes had obviously been mishandled but no damage was done to the product inside. They only took 10-15 mins each to assemble and they are sturdy, comfortable, and minimalist in look. They also tuck right under the island perfectly when not in use.I have no complaints with this product.
Sturdy Solid Wood, Great Buy Overall. These are solid wood and has some weight to it so you can tell it would hold up well (they have a 300 lb limit). They were easy to put together although my fingers did hurt a little because I assembled 4 for them using the tool provided. They were pretty sturdy. I only had 1 chair with that looked like the seat was filled in/fixed for slight imperfections which I don’t mind because it’s hardly noticeable. There were very few, minor tiny scratches that are also unnoticeable. I only had one chair that had a very slight unevenness/wobbling which was a quick fix by using double the felt pads on the leg that’s uneven. I read a bunch of reviews before purchasing and also checked and counted each piece for any damages or missing pieces. They mostly looked great and the pieces were all complete. The 24-in were perfect for our counters as they are not that high. They don’t take a whole lot of space. The paint on them look great. I like the little metal piece on the footrest. The best thing about it is that it feels like quality solid wood and it’s sturdy. Secondly, I think it looks great! I recommend this product! I would rate it 4.5/5 but I can’t give it a half point so I rated it 4/5 just the few slight imperfections.
