Good enough for a low budget apartment. I actually got three of these green shelves and they seem pretty consistent. I feel like my photos don’t do the color justice because it’s really a soft light green, and these make it look more like a sharp yellowish-green. I do like the color. And as others have mentioned, it is a bit of a shame that the directions aren’t clear about the direction to connect the shelves. I had to reference the photo that showed how all the pieces will attach as well as coming back to this page to see how the colors align in order to make sure I was doing it right (especially in those first steps for the top shelves). They’re pretty decent shelves as far as having a good amount of space on each shelf, the height, and being small enough to fit in a small apartment yet actually helpful for storage. The assembly is straightforward if you have experience with these kinds of projects but I had a few concerns. I believe the biggest problem is that it gives you the exact amount of all the pieces, meaning that if some come broken, you’re just out of luck. Usually for shelves there will be one extra of most pieces. As shown, I did have a couple come broken and a wooden peg that split when I tried to use the mallet. With all three, I struggled when connecting the top shelves to the bottom shelves. When connecting, the circular metal connectors (I don’t recall the exact name for them) are meant to turn 180° to secure the screws. But not a single one on any of them could. It felt like I was going to break the shelf itself, or threatened to strip those connectors. So there’s a small gap there on each one, and nothing I tried was able to get them to connect snuggly. That and trying to screw in those black pieces behind the shelf were the hardest parts. It was pretty hard trying to screw into the shelf with no prep hole, with the screwdriver right up against the shelf with no room to hold it well. This shelf should have been really easy to put together (especially for someone like me with a lot of experience assembling furniture), but I ended up having hand cramps a few times. All-in-all they’re what I needed so it will be fine. I just have to be careful with the one that has the broken peg since that one will be less safe (especially because it’s at the part that can’t connect properly). I do suggest getting your own straps to secure these to the wall, especially if you have kids or pets, because they’re only stable as long as it doesn’t get pushed on.Edit – I forgot to mention that the wood is a bit rough around the edges. The photo shows discoloration on the green, and that part feels really rough. And that is something that was consistent on all the shelves of the three units that I bought. It isn’t necessarily a deal breaker for me, but it’s something that you should be aware of before making a decision.
Great Bookcase for Small Spaces. I was looking for a storage unit to use behind my crafting desk as a kind of “credenza” to store additional crafting tools I like to have handy. The challenge was how low the windowsill under the large window sits. But set up horizontally instead of vertically, this bookcase did the trick! The 4 “shelves” create 4 “cubbies” I was able to fit some existing wicker baskets in, and still have the whole top surface for additional storage bins – exactly what I was looking for in that small/low space under the window. And the black color coordinates great with all the other furniture pieces I have in that room. I can’t speak to the longevity yet, but I’m sure with proper use it will hold up well over time. One word of caution, as others have pointed out: Be VERY CAREFUL when nailing the back panel onto the frame – the fiberboard frame will split/flake apart VERY easily if you have to pull them back out for a second try. I did lose a few small “chunks” by miscalculating placement, but since it was on the back side facing the wall, I was able to hide my mistakes. Overall, very happy with my purchase – it is the exact size I needed, sturdy enough for my purposes, fairly easy to put together, a terrific value, and super quick delivery. Hope this helps anyone on the fence. 🙂
Easy to assemble but you get what you pay for. It was easy to assemble, just need a Phillips head screwdriver and a hammer or mallet. However, the screws are not set in, so they stick out about 1/8 inch off the bookcase. The manufacturer provides simple white round stickers to cover the screws. They barely cover the screws, do bot match the laminate on the shelf, and do nothing to help with the screws poking out from the body of the shelf. I ended up pushing the edge of the stickers into the gap between the screw and the shelf. It doesn’t look terribly professional but is much better than the stickers floating in air. Also, take care removing the sticker labels used by the manufacturer to mark the components for the instructions. You can inadvertently peal off some of the finish with the sticker. I used extra white stickers for the screws to cover 2 tears. All in all, it was cheap and easy to put together. It suits my immediate needs well. I will be looking for something more quality for long term use.
Some physical imperfections. I bought the 5-tier white bookcase. It’s nice but not without some physical flaws. My item has a few small nicks in the wood, and one dent was painted over (likely by the manufacturer) with white paint (or maybe white marker). It was a pretty unsightly 2.5-3″ mark, and located on the top-front of the item. I was debating returning the bookcase, because of this flaw, but my partner tried rubbing at the white paint and it just came right off… The original nick doesn’t look half as noticeable as whatever the manufacturer tried to cover it with, so I’m just going to keep the bookcase. The 5-tier white bookcase also comes in two parts… Top portion and bottom portion. The top is made up of the top, back, sides, and two shelves. The bottom is made up of the back, sides, bottom, and two shelves. They are suppose to slide together, but mine does have a little gap and I wish the pieces were flush.I also want to note that the second to last step of the instructions might require a drill! They ask you to add 4 plastic support pieces to the back, with 8 small screws, and there were no holes created by the manufacturer for this step.Despite these things, I do really like the size and height of this bookcase, and I’m going to give it a chance.
front porch bliss. I was in need of a small cubbie bookcase to spruce up my front porch, and I stumbled upon the perfect solution! This little gem not only looks great but also provides fantastic functionality. The best part? I added small cubes from Dollar Tree and white dish pans for the bottom, transforming it into a personalized storage haven. Assembling it was a breeze, and it didn’t take long to put together. For the finishing touch, I painted the windows Chalk White, giving it a charming, cosy feel. Now, it’s a wonderful addition to my front porch, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!If you’re looking for an affordable and versatile storage solution that’s easy to customize, I highly recommend giving this cubbie bookcase a try. It’s a great value for the creativity and style it brings to your space.
overall nice , but kindof tricky. the 2 things i would say is the instructions do NOT help you very much at all i had to look at the 3d picture on amazon. that helped me more it took like 4 hours to build and had to take it apart over 3 times to redo it and i know directions good so kinda ehh.. BUT once built its nice and pretty , and the paint chips very easily so be very careful
Looks nice but is not high quality. I got this bookshelf on sale for $30 and I’m glad I didn’t pay more. The shelves feel like the same quality you would get at Walmart. After I put it all together and started peeling off the letter stickers some parts of the paint peeled off with the stickers. The included screws didn’t always sit flat when screwed in, but if that is a fault of the shelves or user error is hard to know. I think for the cheaper price I got it at everything is fine, a little inconsistent with the paint job but it is a spot covered by books so no big deal.Things I do like, the colors are really cute. I got white and blue and it looks great in my little play area. The instructions included are good and clear, though keep a picture handy since the directions do not tell you anything about what direction the colors should be facing. I would probably recommend using a drill if you have one, it isn’t required but it will go much faster. Overall I’m satisfied with it because at the end of the day I just needed a cute, easy to assemble, small bookshelf that was cheap.
Great for kids playrooms. Not too hard to put together, just a bit tedious. I think it’s too small to use as a bookshelf, but it works great for kids toys and playrooms. It’s short enough for our son (12 months old) to reach the top shelf, we just made sure to buy wall anchors to attach it to the wall to make sure it wouldn’t fall over. Love how it looks in our son’s playroom and can definitely see us buying more once our son has more toys
Attractive & sturdy. As other reviewers have mentioned, this is an attractive piece that is sturdier than a lot of other particle board furniture. The instructions were super clear (which was really surprising but nice). My only complaint is that they included little matching stickers so you could cover the screws to hide them, but the screws are not recessed, so the stickers would just be sitting on top of the screws, which are already sitting above the surface. But the screws are gold/brass, so I don’t really mind being able to see them. Also: just a note that in the photo the compartment with the door is on the bottom, but the top and bottom surfaces are identical, so I flipped it upside down so the compartment with the door is on top. The door opens from the other side, but that’s the only difference.
It’s good but screw heads come out of the furniture. The overall quality is great. There were minor scratches, but no major cracks, and since the screw head protrudes out, a white round sticker was included. It’s easy to assemble and the size is perfect for a baby’s book. It was a good purchase at a low price.
Perfect. Repainting and refreshing my home. Decided on the color scheme of gray/white trim. Needed a white bookshelf to place in the hallway. This was the perfect height, width, & color. It was super easy to put it together. I had no issues. It took me about 45 minutes whereas the instructions cites 30 minutes. I had my husband help me place the top of the shelf onto the bottom. There were no issues of the holes lining up perfectly, the color was perfect as well as the material. The boards and other materials weren’t flimsy or warped. The plastic pieces were good too. It’s very sturdy and looks great. It wasn’t heavy either. I had no problem moving it to its new home. I initially used a Phillips head; however, I changed to the electric drill. It went much faster and the screws were tighter. I recommend this shelf for the ease of putting it together, the look of the finished product, the size, and the price.
It’s perfect. I got the 7 cube shelf and I love it. It’s easy to assemble and looks great, and it can fit in a variety of spaces because it’s not too wide or long. The quality of the wood is good and it’s overall sturdy. Also it shipped and arrived very quickly after I ordered so I was surprised! It’s a nice touch to my room and makes a good home for my books (and some yarn),Thank you!
It’s ok. It’s a great little shelf for the price. Definitely not the sturdier high end looking but it’s looks presentable and gets the job done. I don’t like the back panel showing as pictured. And that the screws are exposed. Those areas probably will be a little hard to clean. It’s have a great shelf size. I use it in my guest room.
Best value for the money. This is the best product the best value for the money it’s about the seventh one that I bought. We are extending our kitchen cabinet down and making a coffee and breakfast bar area and I needed the extra storage. I was able to actually stack two in front of each other to make it deeper and using it to build my actual cabinet frames around it to save money. I’m absolutely pleased with the sizes and the way they fit together. I can’t wait to post pictures of the finished product, the material is amazing. The fit is amazing. It’s very strong. It was easy to assemble. It’s going to add a great addition of storage and space to our kitchen, thank you to the seller thank you to Amazon Amazon .
Stickers peel off finish. The build is all right, it’s definitely not really worth this much money and I expect it’ll be wobbling in a couple of years. Unfortunately the stickers with the letters on them marking which piece is which don’t peel off easily, leave a sticky residue and pull off the finish with them, leaving holes in the paint. Pretty annoying, I just put it together and now it has all these blemishes. I’ll be putting stuff over it so it doesn’t really matter, but it’s pretty discouraging to spend that much money and then have that happen. Would not buy again. Also, the instructions don’t draw enough attention to when to put the back panels in, I built the whole thing before I realized I needed to insert the f panels before putting the top and sides on. I’m not taking it apart again, so I’m just going to live without the back panels. It gives a little more depth for books without them anyway. I would recommend purchasing a wooden shelf from Fred Meyers or Ikea for the same amount of money or possibly less.
