  1. A Bit Harsh If Your Baby Has Too Much Irritation but Did the Job When All Else Failed. I recommend this product, but advise caution if your pet has badly irritated ears.My cats got ear mites from a stray the neighbor was feeding. I’m in my 60s, have lived all around the country and have always owned cats. None of my cats have had ear mites since 1995 and, based on personal experience, California ear mites are the WORST in the US. My three cats are all Siamese blends, so they have very sensitive skin. That makes finding a safe product difficult, especially as the standard treatment for ear mites (pyrethrin) is toxic to cats.In the past, taking cats to the vet for ear mites didn’t work, so I’ve learned to use either mineral oil or olive oil. My cats’ sensitive ears didn’t tolerate mineral oil, so I switched to olive oil. The infestation was unbelievably bad and had spread quickly. I’d seen great improvement when I used oil, but it didn’t get rid of that last little bit of yuck.So I decided to try this product. It arrived two days ago. Because of their sensitive skin, I decided to do a sort of patch test. I treated only one of their ears, and used just a bit on a q-tip so as not to cause irritation if they had an issue. I got a little too much in Jackie’s ear, but he was the only one that behaved as if it bothered him.As it turned out, his ear were so raw that the product did cause a some swelling. One other cat had a little bit of inflammation, too. I felt like a cat abuser! There was also more of the ear mite “coffee grounds” the following day, but what that tells me is that the oil missed some mites while the product killed what was still there.Better out than in!So I cleaned their ears again last night without using anything but a damp Q-Tip, then used a dry Q-Tip to make sure no moistness remained. Duffer apparently like the product so much that when I set up the stuff for Jackie, Duffer came right in to wait his turn! He also appeared much better, and a bunch more ‘coffee grounds’ emerged, but after his ears were cleaned, he clearly felt more comfortable & no longer flattened his ears.(I use a head lamp to see into their ears, and make certain I go no further than the outer ear. Do NOT shove a Q-Tip any farther into their ears than that, or it could puncture their eardrum. BTW, I spent seven years working at animal shelters in two different states and I’ve also had medical training, so I know what I’m doing. Also, be very careful & quick to jerk the swab out if the cat starts to shake its head!)This morning, my Tizzy has no sign of ear mites! The inflammation has almost entirely vanished, just a slight puffiness at the lobe. Not only that, but for the first time in month, she let me scratch her ears with no flinching! And I didn’t even use it as directed, by filling the entire ear with the product as instructed.I posted a photo of Tizzy’s ear so you can see how much it’s improved. No sign of ‘coffee grounds,’ and for the first time in months, I was able to scratch her behind the ears without any flinching, ear flattening or head shaking. The puffiness is almost gone, so it will probably be all better tomorrow. Haven’t gotten a change to check the other two yet, since my sis let them out before I got up, but if there’s no improvement or any worsening of their condition, I’ll come back and add those details to the review. Otherwise, assume it all went well.My advice is to start slow in the beginning, especially if the infection is bad or your pet has sensitive ears. I’d do only one ear at first, using just a swab dampened with the product, and try to build up their tolerance. If their ears are badly irritated, of course it will cause inflammation! Judging by the black crap that came out of Jackie and Duffer, it’s clearly doing the job, so I’m going to try it again in a few days to see if they do better after their ears heal a little.Nothing else I’ve tried has worked so well. Though it’s caused a bit of inflammation, it’s working when nothing else has—and the puffiness and pain are going down very fast, so I don’t see it as much of a drawback compared with the fact that it’s actually getting rid of California’s Super Villain Ear Mites. Some of the other reviewers here stated that the product caused their pets a great deal of pain. My guess is that their poor animal’s ears were so irritated, and their ears filled with so much of the product, it’s no wonder it was painful. So if your pet has an extremely bad infection, go slow with this product. It’s like being treated for cancer: chemo sucks but it can save your life. This stuff appears to be saving my cats from a stubborn infestation that went on far too long. So be careful, but don’t let the claims of horrible pain put you off. Just use it sparingly at first, and allow the ear to heal between applications if you see any puffiness. My sister’s cat also has ear mites, so she’s trying it next. I’ll add her response later, after we see how it goes. I also posted a photo I took of the outer Tizzy while snapping a shot of her ear and posted it, because she’s cute and you deserve a little bit of “Awwww” if you’re dealing with ear troubles in your pet!

  2. Didn’t help my cats initial issue, but does work as it should. My cat was a rescued feral barn kitten, and came with a slew of issues like flea infestation, roundworms, kennel cough, and ear mites/infections. Of course we treated all of the above both at home and with a vet, but despite several rounds of treatment for ear mites, our kitten (now cat) continued to have bouts of ear problems, shaking head, digging ear, hotness to the ear when touched, tenderness, liquid sound in the ear when rubbing below the ear, and a brown gunk inside. After much internet research, I came to believe that she was experiencing recurring ear infections opposed to ear mites. I decided to try this product to see if cleaning the gunk out as the internet suggested, would help. It did not solve it, and after seeing a vet, I learned that in our kitty’s particular case, antibiotics were needed, and she likely may have recurring episodes requiring medication. BUT, vet said cleaning her ears was all the more important for her, so we will continue using this product. Some info/tips from my experience with this product:1.) It has a pleasant smell that isn’t strong, and doesn’t seem to bother the cat.2.) The cat does NOT enjoy letting me out this in her ears, and I learned the hard way (the claw way lol) that it is worth placing the bottle between my legs or under my thigh to warm it up to body temp-ish. She doesn’t like it, but will tolerate it without claws and fleeing if it is warmed up like this.3.) I also learned the hard way that if you aren’t prepared with a washcloth and whatever else you need ahead, you will be repeating this process again in 10 minutes. I also learned that placing the drops and IMMEDIATELY folding her ear to her head and rubbing below ear to help move the drops into her ear is the way to go. Otherwise the cat will immediately shake their head and displace all the liquid, both wasting the liquid, and failing to clean out the ear. The cat has gotten used to this, and while it’s not her favorite thing, she tolerates it, and when I let her go she shakes her head, but minimal liquid comes back out. This allows me to then wipe the ear gunk out with the tip of a rag or washcloth after it has softened it some, and helped it work its way out of the ear.One last thing to note: this cleaner is mild compared to the ear mites stuff available on Amazon, and while the ear mites stuff claims to only require a few treatments a week or two apart, and this cleaner may need to be used 2x a day for up to 2 weeks to get to a place where you can do it weekly for maintenance, the ear mites stuff can be very irritating and harsh, especially if your cat has dug into their ears and has scratches etc in there like mine did. Using those caused her pain and discomfort. This cleaner needs more commitment and application, but was gentle enough that it didn’t cause her irritation and pain. This product is not a quick fix or cure all for ears in your pet, but does what it claims, and with a few pointers, is relatively easy on both you and your pet. Would buy this again, although it is a rather large amount, so I expect it will last us quite some time. Good value for the money.

  4. AMERICAN BULLY EAR PROBLEMS. I have a 10 month old American boy that has suffered from your problems since we brought him home. We have battled back-and-forth over ear cleansers and I got to the point where I just couldn’t take it anymore! I found this as a last option and MY GOD YALL! His ears look great! It has been almost a week of using it! I did it twice a day for the first two days and now once a day and his ears look SO much better. If you have a bully with chronic ear problems, this is your stuff! Bottle is hella little so grab two! I clean his ears with special pet ear wipes then use this and then wipe them out again after. Try this YALL!

  5. Good stuff – buying again. Our Brittany has long ears, and she has been prone to infections. This usually warranted a pricey trip to the vet, followed by antibiotics. We bought this a year ago, and she has had some ear irritation on a few occasions. Each time, we started flushing her ear with this twice daily, and the irritation & drainage cleared up completely in every instance. Not one visit to the vet for ear problems!

  6. Worked great. If your pet is suffering from ear issues, this is it! My baby (12 year old pit mix) has ear infections & instead of spending a ton at the vet I decided to try some at home things and this worked like a charm. Her ears are clear and no constant scratching. This & a little bit of coconut oil (for dry skin around ears and eyes) worked great!! Buy it now!

  7. Worked exactly as advertised, even on a wild child. I used this product on two cats. 1. Nutmeg, my easy-going 2 year old, and 2. Hera, our insane 4 month old heathen.1. Like I said, Nutmeg is easy-going. I rescued her at about 4 days old. She comes when called and pretty much let’s me do whatever I want to her because she’s so trusting. She got a bacterial infection in her left ear, for which she is going through a round of oral meds (clavamox) + these ear drops. There was a good amount of blood/pus in there, which is why I got the drops. I tested a couple of drops on the back of her neck first to ensure she didn’t have a reaction. The liquid is clear with a pleasant odor. It doesn’t smell harsh or chemical-y at all.I swaddled Nutmeg in a tight little purrito to give her both the oral + otic meds. I gently held her head and put a few of the drops in her left ear, massaged a bit and then let her go. I gave her treats after every time as a reward. Her ear was re-checked after 1 week of treatment and there was no blood or pus left! Totally clean ear canal. It was a very easy process and worked like a charm.2. Hera is a wild child who we rescued as a feral 6-week-old. She’s a sweet little girl now, but her reactions are definitely more like a “stereotypical cat”. Hera is very opinionated, and definitely doesn’t trust humans enough to mess with her, especially when she doesn’t want it! When we got Hera, she could barely hear due to the amount of ear mites and debris in her ears. Despite them being cleaned out and treated, a few days ago I noticed some dirtiness in/around her ears and figured it wouldn’t hurt to try these drops on her.Again, I tested the drops on the back if Hera’s neck. I swaddled her and she totally hated it. It took two people to get the drops in her ears and I opted not to try holding her head still. I got the drops in real quick and then we let her go. She clearly doesn’t hold grudges though, because every time she runs off I shake a treat bag and she’s right back for her reward. It definitely seems to have helped cleaned her ears, at least from what I can see (after 2 days of use).Overall, these drops were worth the money and I would buy them again. I definitely don’t think you need to have an animal as easy as Nutmeg to use them. Even though I did not keep them in Hera’s ears for long or massage them, it does still seem to work. I highly recommend making sure your cat’s nails are trimmed and they are swaddled tightly, and always give a reward after!
