The first one I received must have had some nasty handling in transit and had both a broken glass and the rotating section was seperated, but a replacement was sent out immediately and it is fine. This is a beautiful piece. I didn’t fully understand how it was going to work. You pour your liquid (whiskey or whatever) in the large glass flask. Inside the flask is a glass sailing ship. As the level of liquid goes down in the flask (from drinking the liquid), more of the sailing ship is exposed. With power, the flask slowly rotates around, but to pour out of the flask, you pull the flask out of the cradle then return the flask into the cradle. It comes with a USB power cord and it needs power to (slowly) rotate. In the base, is a battery compartment. I didn’t read the part about requiring 18650 batteries, and I installed AA batteries, which are almost exactly the same size. It seemed to work fine and charged up the AA batteries just fine, but 18650 batteries have a much higher voltage, so long term charging on AA batteries is probably going to be a real problem – aka – a fire hazard or likely ruin the unit, so don’t do it. Pickup the correct 18650 batteries if you want to use the unit without being plugged into a USB power supply.
