Updated review, and happy now. UPDATE 05/09/20:Everything in the review below is still true, however, after resetting them again, they have been working flawlessly.Tech support is still slow, and relegated to email, but the app seems to have many more bells and whistles, and also includes a plethora of additionalDevices that may be added. I do like the fact that you don’t need a hub, so all things considered, I’m pleased and would definitely buy again.FORMER 3-STAR REVIEW (PERFECT AT FIRST, THEN USESS 3-MO LATER…)I downloaded the app in conjunction with my purchase of (6) KMC Sockets on Amazon about 6-months ago to use with various light. My intent was to schedule times for them to be on and off for safety and convenience at both my personal home, as well as for three Airbnbs.Regarding the sockets —I loved the size as compared to other, larger options, the price, and the ease of setup and use between the devices and the app. There was a small learning curve, but the added benefit of not needing a hub, made up for it.They worked perfectly until yesterday, when I opened the app to turn off a couple of light in the evening, I first noticed my app no longer required the passcode pattern I had set. Then, once the app was opened, it not only looked entirely different, “all of my devices had disappeared.”This is a large problem, because I will now have. to wait until my Airbnbs are vacant, then physically drive to each house and reconnect each device individually — not an easy task. Then, when I sought help via the app on the “FAQ/Feedback” option, the form only allowed 300 characters, required 3 photos, and also, asked specifically “which” device was in question — and “ALL” of my formerly missing devices, showed up in an option window. So, the specificity of my request was narrowed down to a single device, when in actuality, it’s was systemic, and involved all six.My final attempt at procuring assistance, was via the Apple app store’s app listing “Developer Website.” Although I wish I read/spoke many other languages, the entire site was in Chinese (I believe) without any option to translate to other languages. So, that was a dead end.I am hopeful that someone from the developer sees this and contacts me with some solutions. I will have to go and reconnect all six, but would like to know how/why this happened to be proactive in the future or Ill have to choose another option with better customer support.
Works pretty well. UPDATE:KMC responded promptly to my inquiry, asking for further clarification of the problem, but in the meantime I figured out how to reset the plug and it’s apparently working fine now. Not sure what caused the connection problem; maybe a glitch in the wifi, or a power surge, or maybe someone unplugged it and then plugged it back in. Whatever the cause, it resolved when I plugged the thing in and held the button until it blinked, at which point I just had to go through the “add device” procedure on Smart Life and then on Alexa. I’m adding back a star because the problem was fixable and the company was ready to step in. It would be five stars if not for the hassle involved in reconnecting it and the fact that it’s still not clear what caused it to stop working.ORIGINAL POST:These smart plugs work with Alexa through the Smart Life app. In general, they all worked pretty well, although there’s an audible click when they turn on or off, and a second or two of delay. However, the first one we installed lasted less than a month before it became completely unresponsive. The LED indicator light, which is supposed to indicate that the plug is working, suddenly became dim. I’m waiting to hear back from KMC to see if they’ll replace it. I’ll update this review with the results. Meanwhile, the Smart Life app doesn’t offer any obvious way to delete a device, so I had to rename this one from “bedroom lamp” to “defective” in order to replace it with a spare.
Great with what you get for the price. I was comparing different smart plugs and went with this one as a lower priced option. The Bad:When separating the plugs after taking them out of the package- one of them had it’s plastic casing pull apart. Luckily I noticed and clicked it back into place no harm done. So durability is not where it excels. For me I’m not too concerned- I’m using it for inconvenient areas to get to in my home with pretty basic power draw (lamps, TV’s etc). However if you plan to put them in overcrowded areas like under a computer desk then I’d be wary- accidentally kicking it or furniture shifting and something cracking the casing in a high traffic spot that’s difficult to see… It’d be possible to do that and not notice exposed wire. The Good:Connecting it wasn’t too bad- it has a QR code which pulled up fine. I didn’t have to search online or in the app store to download it. Logging into the app is pretty simple- but I wish that instead of a password that you could make an account with a pin. It was VERY easy to connect to Google home. You have to have the product app first however after you set it up and it’s connected in your Google home app you CAN delete the product app if you wanted to and still be able to control the plugs. Personally I’m going to keep both for convenience sake.I’ve been testing to see if there’s and overheating and there’s been none. Big concern of mine is fire safety especially with outlets so I’m very happy so far. I haven’t tested it with anything that might be a more demanding power draw (like a fridge, extension cord or space heater) and definitely don’t plan to personally so keep that in mind with my experience.Oh! And I was trying to tell beforehand if the plugs were bulky enough to block the secong plug on a standard outlet and they dont! So you can use a smart plug without excessive overlap!Compared to similar products it lands in the middle of the low end for price per plug and has significantly better reviews than similar priced stuff and lower.Overall- it meets my needs, I feel comfortable that the durability factors are not a concern based on planned usage and it was priced well enough that I feel I got a great deal.

You’ll have to install an additional app. Yes, you will have to install an additional app on your mobile device before Alexa will ‘talk’ to the smart plugs. But after following the instructions I find that they work pretty well. It’s so rewarding to lay in bed and control the lights.
Decent smart plug. Plugs work well. Had little trouble with their software. Kept asking me for my wifi password and trying to connect to my 5ghz internet for some reason
The Clapper of the 21st Century. My generation was treated to endless commercials advertising The Clapper (“Clap on! Clap off!”) and, at that time, it was mildly intriguing. But we were young, spry teenagers who had no particular reason to want lamps or TVs or other devices turned on and off remotely. Fast-forward 35 years and here we are… sluggish, exhausted from decades of mind-numbing adulting, only wanting to sit on our sofas and sob quietly in between sips of alcohol and handfuls of ibuprofen. Thankfully, our smart phones can do so much more than just scroll pictures of cute kittens and TikTok videos. They can also be used to control your lamps and other devices, even if you don’t have one of them fancy Alexa type thingys watching your every move. This particular product was very easy to understand and set up with only a phone app and a WiFi connection. No need for any other infrastructure. Once the app is downloaded and linked to each smart plug, it’s super simple to figure out how to turn the plug on/off, and even to set up daily or weekly on/off schedules. I didn’t read any of the instructions because I’m a typical adult male, and I’m tired. Hence, this self-explanatory product was perfect for me.As a recreational electrician, I would add that these smart plugs should probably not be used to control large-draw appliances such as air conditioners, washing machines, bandsaws, refrigerators, drill presses, pizza ovens, deep fryers, space heaters, etc. Stick to lamps and such.Clap on, friends.
Great little problem solvers. Very compact and substantially made. I got 4 of these for 16 bucks on sale. They are rated for 15 amps so I wanted to control a plugin bathroom heater but was was at a loss trying to think of uses I had for the other three. Then as I was exploring the configuration options, I realized that the power up options of (off/on/or remember last state) would solve a problem where my water softener would regenerate after the briefest interruption of power. This would either force my generator to supply my well pump while it ran for 20 minutes or if the power dipped a couple of times, the bladder tank would empty and there would be no water pressure until I got power back. I considered putting the softener on a UPS to prevent this but now I plugged the softener into one of these switches that was configured to default to (OFF) after any power interruption. That fixed the problem. All I had to do additionally is schedule a turnon event once a day, say at 1 AM to put the softener back in operation. If the power is never interrupted though, the softener will already be on so the scheduled turn on event just leaves it on.Then there was a grow light illuminating some indoor plants that I wanted to control. I had a manual switch on the wall to control this light but wanted to switch the light with Alexa too. Putting one of these units downstream from the light switch and configuring the power up behaviour to (ON), gave the light switch control even if it had been turned off by Alexa or by the schedule. The device app allows on and off times by time of day or by some interval before or after local sunrise or sunset. That’s in addition to control via an Alexa routine or voice command. Then there is one Kitchen light/ceiling fan that blinds me if it happens to be left on when I kick back in front of the TV. Instead of replacing the four lamps in the fixture under the fan with expensive smart bulbs that have four points of failure, there is enough room to mount the fourth one inside the light fixture itself after some modifications. Now I’ll have to get more…
These work very well – a little too big though. First off – definitely buy these, because they do what they say they will, and they make life a whole lot easier (and your home more aesthetically pleasing). Note that I am only using them with the KMC Smart app (not Alexa, voice, or other options), so this review speaks solely to functionality on that app (installed on iPhone). The Negative:1. They are a bit large; if you are installing them on a crowded strip, or even a wall plate with a tight squeeze with a neighboring plug, you may not be able to fit them.2. Slow to pair initially, and sometimes you have to repeat the process before the app connects.3. Sometimes the app shows the connection as offline for no reason. Restarting the app helps. Just a little but annoying glitch.4. You can create a setting that turns ON at a specific time of day (good for Christmas lights), but for some reason, adding a second commend to turn OFF doesn’t work.5. I read that they lose all functionality after a blackout, so you have to start from scratch in that instance (pain in the you know what when you have several). However I haven’t experienced this personally (very few blackouts in my area). The Positive:1. Well-priced at around $5 apiece2. App is easy to use3. Name each plug whatever you like4. Eliminate the need to keep unsightly cords and switches accessible/visible in your space

Easy to use, connection range is great. Affordable priceWorks great w Amazon AlexaWorth the moneyPrice is excellentWould buy againI use this to control my Garage lightingBoth LED and hexagon Lights
Easy to use; Works well with Alexa. I was going to buy a timer for my seedlings so that my grow lights will go on at 5 anm and go off at 9 pm. But then a gardening YouTuber suggested that I use a Smart plug with my Alexa. So I ended up buying this plug which was much cheaper than a timer plug or power strip. And I can control everything from the Alexa app on my phone. I’m very happy that I did.
Inexpensive solution. Great price, good all, works with Alexa. Easy to just use for one plug or move around. I used it for Xmas tree and single lamp.
Great buy for this price. I purchased 4 KMC smart plugs and I must say, it’s well worth the money.First and foremost, the ease of use is outstanding. Setting up these smart plugs to control my garage lights was a breeze. Within minutes, I had them synced with my Google Home, allowing me to easily switch between multiple devices with just a voice command. The capabilities of these smart plugs are impressive. Not only can I control my garage lights remotely, I can also schedule them to turn on or off at specific times, adding an extra layer of security to my home. The ability to integrate seamlessly with Google Home enhances the overall smart home experience.Additionally, the build quality of the KMC smart plug is top-notch. It feels solid and reliable, ensuring long-term durability and performance. The compact design also means it won’t block adjacent outlets, a common problem with other smart plugs. All in all, if you are looking for an affordable yet powerful smart plug solution, look no further than the KMC Smart Plug. It offers unparalleled convenience, simplicity, and reliability, making it a must-have for any smart home setup.
Easy set-up. Got 2 lamps in the living room my mother is chilling in while recovering from being a 70 y/o lady who took a tumble from covid related weakness, and needed an easy way to operate them. 2 of these paired very easily with the 3rd gen echo dot we’re using as a sound bar in that room and work those lights easily. I’ve said that smart plugs are the overeducated grandchildren of the Clapper, and my case is made. Not an insult.End? Cheap, easy, and they work.
Works great. Works as expected. Paired in app with alexa, straight forward
Initially bought these for my plants. This item is amazing! When I say amazing, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! It’s so organized, there’s no lag when the timer is timed to go on or off. It’s always been on time when set to It’s schedule. I initially bought this for just my plants grow lights, but I use it for other things as well and it’s just phenomenal. Everything about it is easy to use. Connecting to wifi is easy, if you somehow managed to mess something up it just takes holding the button in for a few seconds until you see the led blinking fast and it’s reset. The fun part about this, is that it connects to alexa or google as well. It’s super fun to use!. 10/10 Recommend, don’t sleep on it! 🤩
Efficient. Plug is too big. Amazing customer service. The plugs work. They connect to Alexa easily. The app is pretty straightforward. Although I couldn’t figure out how to group two plugs together. So I emailed them through the app. The csr wrote back this LONG email with an explanation and step by step instructions on how to group. Part of the instructions were for what to do on the Alexa app. She told me those steps too. She didn’t just stop at her product. It was a good experience. I’m giving it four stars because the circle plug is just large enough that you can’t use the other plug on the outlet.
Follow up on review. Works fine. poor construction. Not recommended around small children. Seller contacted me, traded notes on issues. They offered to send me 4 new plugs for free. They all are working without any issues. Great when a company stands behind their product and work to make a seller happy. Works fine, setup was easy, works with Alexa. The problem is they come plugged into each other and when you try to separate them, the cover of the plug pulls off exposing the internal electronics. You can put it back together, but it is on loosely and could be a serious electric shock situation, especially with young children. As we have only adults in our family, I’m not as concerned. I had to put super glue on the rim to make them so they won’t pull apart. The manufacturer has one drop of glue on the cover that is supposed to bond to the transformer inside to hold it together (photo 2)
Love them. Second set of the smart plugs I have bought. Love using them on Christmas lights or lights into a room where the lamp is so far away. Easy to set up and work great with my Google devices.
Easy to Set Up. These are very easy to set up. And I don’t have to reset them every time the get unplugged or the Internet goes out. I say this because I have smart lights that have to be reset all the time and they aren’t easy to do. I love that they have a button on the side so I can turn off/on right on the plug. They app is nice too and always works when I use it. Also able to tell Google to turn off/on the plugs.

Programmable. Does not depend on internet to turn itself back on when programmed properly. They are a bit big and can prevent you to use the adjacent plug but if you can adapt to this fact these work terrific with their application. You can set schedules to turn on – off whatever is plugged into these. Of note, these switches must have an internal clock keeping time for I use of of these to turn my router off at a specified schedule and, even without internet, the switch turns my router back on at the specified time. Of course, you can also turn anything on – off manually by using their easy to use ap.
