  1. No complaints. Works exactly how it’s supposed to. I have a 55-lb pitbull and I refill and clean this about once a week. The gravity mechanism works perfectly—fills up the bowl but doesn’t overflow. I’ll admit I checked in on this multiples times the first 2 days to make sure it wasn’t soaking my floors. Luckily, no such issues. I’ve been using this for 2 months. She still prefers the toilet but what are you gonna do?!Edit 1/13/22 – I’ve had this one for over 2 years and still LOVE it. Yes, you have to clean it when you refill the water every 5 or so days. That process takes about 5 minutes, but that is totally worth not having to refill something daily. I bought my first waterer and after a couple years, the bottom piece cracked. Water soaked into the fabric pad I have underneath it. I bought a new one in Dec 2019 and have not had any problems. I still consider this a fantastic product, especially for the price. My only wish is to be able to buy the pieces separately in the case that something breaks. When the bottom plastic piece cracked, I asked Amazon if I could purchase just that piece, since the bottle was perfectly fine. They said no so I bought a whole new set. It wasn’t about the money, but rather the plastic waste! I’ve been storing the old bottle in a closet since then. I figure I can use that if something happens to the current one, although I think the bottom plastic is more prone to failure.

  2. Why did they change the design. This is my second Amazon Basics Gravity Pet Waterer. The first one (purchased in 2020) was wonderful, the dish and bottle connector were molded from a single piece of plastic (which matches the photos shown for this item). The bottle snapped on snugly and was easy to get off when empty, and you didn’t have to rotate it a certain direction to align it with the base. It worked perfectly and did not leak. The only reason I replaced it is because in taking it to my son’s house so he could dog sit for us, someone tripped and fell on top of it, cracking the base of the water dish.I am VERY unhappy with this one. It DOES NOT match the photos shown for the item. (See my photos attached to this review.) Even though it has the same Item number and ASIN, it is NOT the same. They changed the design of the dish such that the bottle connector is a separate piece attached to the dish via four screws. There doesn’t appear to be any extra seal between the dish and connector, so if you happen to tilt the dish back a little – as often happens when moving it – water pours out the back! It also traps water between the top of the dish and the bottom of the connector where mildew can grow, and it is very difficult to clean.Next, instead of an easy snap-on design, the bottle now has nubs on it that you have to align with notches in the top of the bottle connector and then twist COUNTER-clockwise to “secure” it. I put that in quotes because it is not nearly as secure as the old model that snapped on. If you think you have it aligned and you don’t (because of course you can’t SEE the stupid nubs when you’re holding the bottle upside down over the dish!), it’s possible to have the bottle fall off the stand. And whoever designed this never heard of “lefty loosy/righty tighty.” Who doesn’t know this? What other connector do you twist LEFT to secure it?Finally, the old bottle cap screwed onto the bottle and fit snugly without having to be too tight. This bottle cap has a silicone o-ring that is so loose it falls out every time you unscrew the cap (sometimes ending up INSIDE the bottle), and often gets misaligned when you screw the cap on, which causes the bottle to leak when you turn it upside down to set on the base.We have also had to put the whole waterer in a shoe tray because it just leaks. I suspect this is because the top of the bottle cap is above the level where the base meets the dish, so if the seal isn’t good the water level is too high, and again, water leaks over the side. The whole thing is such a poor design I’m just going to return it. If there is ANY way to get another of the original design, I want to do that. This one is horrible! The manual seems to indicate this is a recent redesign (V3-8/21). AMAZON, are you listening? Please give us the old design back!Update: edited to fix spelling errors.

  3. Not terrific, but does the job. I bought this for my cat to use so I would not have to always remember check the water dish every morning and night, along with being able to handle being away overnight. Turns out, my cat doesn’t like it. Also, to keep the bowl clean (stuff floating around settling in the water and ending up at the bottom of the bowl) you either have to have an animal that will empty it in two or three days so you have a chance to rinse it out or you have to sacrifice about a liter of water. So basically, this is a good product but only for the right pet. My one complaint is that the bottle attachment could use a more positive “it’s locked” feeling.

  4. Sturdy and Dies Not Leak. I like that this waterer is sturdy and the cap keeps the tank from leaking. My cat is very large. He was constantly swatting at the tank to see the water move, especially when it would bubble. I was concerned that he would knock the tank off and make a mess, but I used it for a few weeks, and he didn’t. If he did knock it off, I’m pretty sure the cap would keep it from pouring out water. The cost of this waterer was about the same as smaller ones that I found a couple of pet stores where I checked, but they did not look sturdy enough to handle my crazy cat. You could leave one of these up permanently, but I only used it while I was out of town, because it takes up quite a bit of space in the small room where I feed my cat. If your cat is normal, you might be able to get by with something smaller.

  5. Great Product. We ordered this set for our 3 cats, we are going to be gone for a long weekend and didn’t have anyone to feed and water them. We have been using them for the past couple of days and they seem to be doing the trick. The food doesn’t always dispense the way it should but the cats are able to get it to drop so we believe everything will be fine. I would recommend this product if you’re looking for something for short trips away from home.

  6. LOOK NO FURTHER…. This pet waterer is wonderful. It’s simple with no intricate parts. The box contains 3 parts; ONE-PIECE screw top for water bottle, water bottle, and base/bowl. PREVIOUSLY, I bought ANOTHER make and model, that was more expensive, and the screw top broke before I could fill it up for the second time. It had delicate plastic parts and a spring in the screw top that broke off when I unscrewed it. This one is so much better!!!

  7. Old design was easier to clean. The old design was easier to clean, because the inside of the bowl and locking mechanism was all one continuous surface that could be wiped down. This one has a narrower opening and sharper edges making it harder to clean effectively. It’s still a good product, just much less convenient now. I preferred the old design.

  8. Gravity feeder and water for pets. These are made from a durable plastic like material, and they are light in weight. Our use was for outdoor feeding in backyard. Feeding and watering a group of fixed ferrol cats. These are best suited for indoors or outdoors where likely ther are no free loader raccoons. Raccoons can easily knock the feeder on its side. The waterer seemed to work fine. But be sure it gurgles to let air bubbles raise to top of water. When home noted once that the water stopped flowing. Once i slightly touched it, it released trapped air, and was working again.Because the raccoons turned the feeder on its side, please note that small size food can get trapped on inner lip of the bottom feeder portion of the opening where the food container/jug attaches. It was a bit hard to get the residual food out of there when cleaning container. This set of feeder and waterer were best value for this size group of feeders and waterers.

  9. Much better than a fountain. I was a bit aprehensive at first because I didn’t know how easy it would be to clean. There’s always something floating in the bowl that was either dirt or dog food at one point and those things tend to make the water yucky. Yes dogs sniff each others butts and worse which is more the reason they should have a clean source of water. I also want the best for them because they bring me happiness and love during times when I need it the most so things like having a clean water bowl seem to be the least I can do for them. The bowl itself feels good in the hand. Not too heavy, not too light. It also comes equipped with some very functional non-skid pads on the bottom to prevent the bowl from sloshing about while in use. The resevoir can hold one gallon and is made from the same material the five gallon jugs use. The cap has a spring loaded stopper that dispenses water when it’s depressed which only happens once it’s fastened to the bowl. Once it’s released it stops the water from flowing out even when upside down. The jug fits snugly and has two stubs on each side that line up with an opening on the ring so when it’s mounted, the jug slides gently into place and locks with a small twist. The channel between the bowl and where the water flows from is narrow to keep the water from pouring into the bowl and making a mess. I can carry the whole thing, with water, from the hallway to the kitchen sink, and not spill a drop. This thing is so easy to clean, it’s child’s play. The fountains on the other hand, it could take me a good thirty minutes to clean a fountain and I’d still find slimy spots. They’re way too much maintenance for what they’re designed to do and this takes me less than five. The bowl is large enough for both dogs to drink from and they drink more water now. I’ve purchased a lot of pet stuff over the years and a lot of it has been a waste of money because it was either too cheaply made or didn’t function the way it should’ve. I’m happy to say that this is not one of those purchases. In fact, I’ve replaced all my water bowls with these. Wish I would’ve known about these sooner.

  13. Perfect for 3 dogs who spend most of the day outside. Pictured – the water is on the left and the food is on the right. The middle water one is a separate brand, but pictured for pros and cons.Pros:The containers turn and lock into place on the base so even when it runs out, the dogs can’t easily unattach them and end up chewing the cap or the sides which is what happened for the one in the middle. The water is more secure than the food for the turn and lock. The water container’s cap and nozzle is a fully encircled and made of thick plastic. This is HUGE plus because the middle water one from another brand has the little nozzle piece out in the open on the top of the cap and when it ran out of water in the middle of the day a few weeks ago, the dogs knocked it over and snapped the piece off because it was very thin. The entire cap itself is pretty thin which is why the Amazon brand one is superior. Both the food and water are solid with non-sliding feet which is a plus on our smooth patio.Cons: So far, none.I’ve had them for about a week so we’ll see how they hold up. I’m not worried about the brown/black and the white/black doggies pictured, as they are older and very calm but it’s the unpictured Goldendoodle puppy who is a wild child that will tell if this stays a 5 star review!

  15. great buy. I use them for my inside cats and the outside cats that I feed. I like that they now have collars on them to hold the jugs in place. before they redesign them, I use to have to tape the jugs to the base so they wouldn’t fall off the base. it’s also nice now that the water jugs have tabs to lock them to the base. cleaning the water jugs is simple with some bleach water in the jugs give them a good shake and let them sit in the base for a while. rinse and your good to go.

Great buy. Have had this since beginning of February this year…good quality…bought 2 …1 Gallon size…have 4 cats….we were going away for a week and a family member was checking in on them along with 4 other cats and 3 dogs on first floor of our home… I am beyond pleased….they drink more with this than the metal large dog food bowls I was using…1 for each cat… and we know how important it is to get kitties to drink…I change about twice to 3 times per week for 4 cats… a little awkward…make sure outside is dry so you can insert it into bottom part having a good grip on it…very easy to do. Set it down into bottom and twist to lock…..Really recommend it…my son has a much larger 5 Gallon size for his dogs…again…they seem to prefer it over metal bowls of water.

  17. Great product that could’ve been excellent. The water container is really nice and has a trigger mechanism to avoid spillage. It releases water promptly and the cats love it, they’ve been drinking more ever since I got it. It stays clean mostly but it requires basic wiping down when it’s time to refill. The food container is tight sealed and easy to fill up. It releases the food well but a major flaw being that it’s not tilted enough to gravity fill and will require manually pulling the food. To avoid doing this, I put a wedge that raises the back enough to continue refilling the bowl for the cats as seen in the picture. Would buy again IF they fix that flaw.

Quality and Value. I used to have a great set of gravity water and feeder containers for our animals. They lasted a very long time. I replaced the feeder a while back but couldn’t find quite the same product as I’d had before. The one I got ended up falling apart not long ago, base came apart with food going everywhere. I saw this set and was pretty impressed with the info so I ordered it. I’m very glad I did. The waterer is a fantastic design and works flawlessly. No spilling and very easy to put the container into the base. The feeder is absolutely great! True gravity fed with a very sturdy base. The lid snaps on so no escaping dry food which is a good feature. Overall the people parents and furry children are super happy!

  22. Amazing product. Very effective product and it works really well. Very sturdy build quality and my cats immediately used it.

  23. Excellent. Great quality! Durable! Holds a lot of water and food for 2 dogs and 7 cats. Travels well. Ease of use. Functions great. Fill it and it lasts for days if not weeks. Animals love it. Easy for the kids to fill. Be sure to lock the water bottle by just giving it a twist once it’s flipped back upside down into its base. Easy lock into place. And unlocks easily.

  24. Good flow and capacity. These feeders are double the capacity of the old feeders we had and the food feeds perfectly while our old one the food got stuck sometimes. We’ve had our about 2 weeks and they’ve been great. I can’t speak for how these perform after years but they function flawlessly now. With 2 our 2 cats it’ll last almost a month between refills

  25. Decent Water Feeder, But Smaller Than Expected. This water feeder does the job, but I was a bit disappointed with the size. Based on the description and images, I expected it to hold more water. It still works well for my needs, but I find myself refilling it more often than I’d like.Pros:✅ Easy to set up and use✅ Sturdy and well-made✅ Water flows well without leaksCons:❌ Smaller capacity than expected❌ Would be better for smaller pets or fewer animalsIf you don’t need a large water feeder, this is a solid choice. However, if you’re looking for something that holds a lot of water, you may want to consider a bigger option.

  26. Love it and appreciate the ease of use and it not being too large or heavy to fill and move. Bought a couple days ago for our new puppy. It holds a gallon of water. The dish part. Is fairly large and works great. Started using it yesterday for our new 8 week old puppy. Still over half full. When she is older and larger I might get a larger size but for now it is great. Doesn’t take up a bunch of floor space and holds at least 2/3 days of water, maybe more. We shall see. Pup has no problems drinking out of it and it doesn’t get water all over the floor. Simple to use and fill.

  27. My cats love em. So glad we bought these!! They work as they should and super easy to take apart to clean! I have 2 cats just over a year old (male and female) and I check/refresh once a week. My cats do like to tip them over but I think that’s my cats just being wild haha!I’d buy again and recommend!!

  28. Broken Top. I bought this item on December 6,2024.It works great. 4 stars because the top broke and I can’t find a replacement top. Bummer

  29. Quality is worth the price. It’s a great product, easy to neglect, just fill it up and you pretty much leave it until you have to wash and refill. It’s super easy to wash too! It doesn’t stay greasy like other plastic and even if it’s plastic, it’s super sturdy and you can feel how dense/thick it is. You do have to change the water a bit more often, but it holds really well. The kibble one has a silicone top, so it keeps the doggy kibble fresh. 10/10

A weeks worth of water for 3 cats. I have three cats, and I used to have a very obnoxious water bowl that my female cat would tip over constantly. This sits firmly on the floor so she can’t do that anymore. I also recently went on a week vacation and the tank was able to supply them water for the entire week.

  31. Great product. Best thing I could have gotten for my dog he loves it and I love it even more because I don’t have to refill his bowl multiple times for the day slip resistance easy to clean and fill holds a lot of water for my size dog

  32. Love This. I absolutely love this and so does my cat. I use to worry about getting home to feed my cat or who was going to feed my cat when I had to go out of town for a tournament. Well not any more because when she gets hungry or thirsty she will go and just eat her food or get something to drink. Ive already had to fill the water jug twice.

  33. Nice and easy. Very simple but effective and useful product. Holds a large amount of water. Easy to clean and refill. Esthetically neutral. My cat loves it because she drinks a lot of water and its always full and fresh. Easy on me because i only refill every couple of weeks but I dismantle to clean out the bowl a couple times a week. Very sturdy as well. I definitely recommend!

  34. Great dispensers – Exactly as advertised. At first, I was hesitant to buy because of some bad reviews but needed those exact dispensers. I am very glad I bought because they are great and work perfectly well. They are well-made and the price for both are great. Perfect for cats or small to medium dogs.

  35. Nice upgrade for us. Bought for our cats, and they work well. They hold a lot and we’ve had no leaking from either. Easy to use and stable enough that even our rowdy kitten hasn’t knocked them over.

  36. Great dispenser for the money. Very nice water dispenser. My dachshunds love it! It lasts about four days for three thirsty doggies.

  37. Set-It-and-Forget-It Pet Station. This feeder and water dispenser set has made pet care easier. I like that it refills on its own because I get busy with life and don’t always notice low bowls right away. The food side holds plenty, the water stays available, and both pieces are easy to take apart and clean. Simple, reliable, and does what I need.

  38. Great for dogs. I got this Amazon Basics Gravity Pet Water Dispenser for my cat and it works really well. It holds plenty of water, refills automatically, and keeps the bowl topped up throughout the day without me having to constantly refill it. The design is simple and easy to clean, and it’s been reliable so far. My cat uses it every day and seems to like that fresh water is always available. I’d recommend this if you want a low‑maintenance water solution for your pet.

  39. Great Water Dispenser for Cats (and Dogs). We’ve been using this water dispenser for years and it’s been great, especially for our cats (and dogs too). We keep it in our bedroom so they have access to some water when we’re gone, but not a huge bowl that gets spilled everywhere. It’s simple, reliable, and easy to refill. Nothing fancy, but it does exactly what we need it to do.

  40. 5 stars. Game changer for me and this. It helps give my dogs water and I’m not constantly filling up a water dish. Very sturdy. Size is great and so far has held up in the heat
