Related Product Deals & User Reviews

  1. Works REALLY well, but kind of expensive and definitely hard on the skin. It works really well – way better for the baked on smudges than water or glass cleaner. I took off a star for the expense of the product and for the caustic quality of it. If you want to commit a crime, use this stuff without rubber gloves, and you’ll be fingerprint-free for a while. But I love it for those hard to remove spots that are baked onto the glass. I have found the most efficient use of the product is to hold a paper towel up vertically against the glass, spray on product so that the paper towel is plastered in place on the glass, but not so much that you get dripping off the bottom of the glass. Then let it sit for a minute or a few minutes before wiping off the soot with the same wet cloth. This way it doesn’t drip so much on your hearth, so there is less mess, less wasted product, and it stays in place longer on the glass to do its magic.

  2. Cleaned my doors like magic. When I had my doors installed years ago, the guy said very specifically to never use Windex or anything with ammonia to clean them. I carefully wrote his instructions down and kept them for years until I actually wanted to clean the doors and couldn’t find the paper. So I came here and found this product, very happy with the results. I can’t imagine how bad other peoples’ doors were (from the reviews below), but mine cleaned up like a charm! Maybe it’s because I don’t keep the glass closed while the fire is raging (I only close them at the end of the evening as the embers are burning down and I’m going to bed), but they still seemed pretty dirty after probably five years without cleaning. This stuff cleaned them up in seconds and I didn’t think it was too noxious to use (though I definitely wore sturdy gloves and was careful not to get it on the brick or surrounding metals). Editing this to add a note that I asked in the Q&A but didn’t get a clear answer on until I asked the company directly–they replied almost immediately, so yay for good small company customer service! The question was about whether or not this could be used to clean my gas oven window. The answer is: “You would NOT want to use the woodstove glass cleaner on your oven door. It will eat away the gasketing around your oven door. Easy off is a better product to use for that.” I don’t know if anyone will actually see this, but I couldn’t figure out how to answer my own question, so I hope the company will come on and answer that one for good.

  3. Over the Moon. I have a Quadrafire Voyager fireplace insert. One of the reasons I chose the quad was because of the large glass window because I like to see the fire, so keeping the glass relatively clean is pretty important. Have used every product I could find and even tried a brush and ash from the fireplace. While several of the products worked ok, it was messy and time consuming. I would use at least 1/2 roll of paper towels and it would take about 45 min to an hour, start to finish…and the glass still wasn’t really clean. I read the reviews on MEECO’s Red Devil and decided to try it. 5 stars is not enough. I open my door completely and put newspaper underneath to catch the drips. I start spraying at the top in slight sweeping motion. I repeat this several times and just watch the stuff fall off and drip onto the newspaper. Then I take a paper towel and start wiping down so more stuff falls on the newspaper. No scrubbing at all and even the baked on stuff melts away. I use a damp paper towel and wipe off the glass and then I just gather up the newspaper and paper towels and toss in the garbage. The whole project took less that 15 minutes. The odor is not excessively strong and there is no scrubbing or scraping. It is amazing. Don’t want to ever run out!

  4. Sprayer doesn’t work. I purchased the creosote bricks in this brand and was very happy with them and decided to try the spray to clean the glass door on my cast iron insert. Unfortunately the sprayer doesn’t work and the cleaner just runs down my hand instead. I feel that a good quality working sprayer isn’t much to ask for when you spend $15 on a fairly small bottle of glass cleaner. I know I’m using far more product when I have to pour it on paper towels to clean the glass. It does work fairly well but I won’t purchase again after having such a poor experience. I just don’t want to get another bottle that won’t spray.

  5. Wow, So Easy to use. I wish I did a before and after photo. We tried some of the other non-chemical ways to clean our wood fireplace glass, non really worked. I was afraid to try oven cleaner as I read it could do something to the coating of the glass. I purchased Meeco’s Red Devil 701 Woodstove Glass Cleaner and within 10 minutes the glass is fantastic! So glad I decided to make this purchase. I thought the fumes would be much worse, but I could hardly smell it, every now and then I would get a whiff (almost ammonia like) (it is sodium hydroxide aka lye) that wasn’t too strong. I will definitely buy again, but I feel it will last a long time.

  6. This stuff works like a charm. I struggled with cleaning my fireplace glass for a few years, trying different methods, all of which took great amounts of elbow grease, and none of which worked very well. This stuff works like a miracle. Really. Spray it on, give it a couple seconds and wipe away all of the burnt on soot and creosote. I highly recommend it.

  7. Cresote remover. Wow, this stuff is amazing. I was a little skeptical at first. I was really tired of scraping with a razor blade. This stuff works, just spray it on and wipe off. Would buy again.

  8. Spray it and wipe glass clean, period. Works better than the rest

  9. Works and so easy. Love this product ! I have tried others but NOTHING has cleaned glass as completely with very minimal effort until I used this. Typically the only way I completely cleaned glass is to use a product similar to this following with a very sharp razor blade. Not this time ! I sprayed cold glass, set timer for 20 minutes to let it soak in then sprayed product again (first dose was dry after 20 minutes) and wiped off ! It completely removed soot and discoloration on glass. Followed up with glass cleaner and glass looks brand new. Will ONLY be using this from now on. Worth it !

  10. Works almost as well as vinegar. I bought this thinking we needed a special product that was safe for our fireplace and 9 times out of ten it worked pretty well. We had fresher wood and a lot of creosote early in the season and it needed to soak for a few minutes to break down the gunk. I didn’t want to pay another $15 to be able to clean out glass for a few months and looked at alternatives. Ends up a spray bottle of white vinegar and a bit of ash as a scrubbing agent totally break down the build up in no time and they aren’t dangerous if my kid gets into it! I’ll be using a natural option moving forward.

  11. Works very well. I was very surprised how well this worked. Much easier if you remove the glass panels & lay them flat. My glass hasn’t been cleaned in over 5 years, maybe longer. Highly recommended

  12. Really gets it clean. Very impressed! Spayed it on the wood burner glass let it sit for a minute and it wiped clean! Great product. Will continue to buy.

  13. Just flat out works. Works extremely well, makes cleaning fireplace glass as easy as any window. Spray it on and wipe it clean. Heavy buildup just requires it to sit for a minute or two, then wipe clean. No scraping, no scrubbing, highly recommend

  14. Soot residue on the glass comes off easy. Love it. Saves time cleaning the glass

  15. Awesome. This stuff works great on the glass doors on our fireplace insert! Just spray, leave on a few minutes and wipe with a paper towel.
