Odor after a few uses. UPDATE: These used to be great sponges that lasted a long time. I’m not sure what has changed, but they now get a mildew smell within a week or two of using it. The sponge side has also started turning a dark color, which I think is mildew.I’ve never had a sponge turn like this, and every sponge from my most recent package has smelled and turned a dark color within a couple of weeks of using them.Based on reading other reviews, it sounds like they have changed the material for the sponges and I will not be repurchasing. Very disappointing because they were a great sponge that was made with natural materials and nothing toxic.***ORIGINAL REVIEW***I’m so glad Scotch-Brite came out with natural sponges. I stopped using the colored ones because I was seeing blue colored soap when I was washing my dishes and didn’t want the chemicals. I was using a natural sponge without a scrubber, but really missed the scrubbing side. I even used a dish brush, but it didn’t work as well as the scrubber on some things. It’s nice to have an environmentally friendly sponge that work so well.
For gentle scrubbing. These 3M sponges are partially biodegradable and partly made of recycled material. The natural fiber Non-Scratch Scrub Sponge scrubber is made from 50% agave plant and 50% polyester. The sponge is made from 23% recycled office paper and 77% cellulose. The scrubber is not biodegradable because of the polyester.Once this is said, these sponges are doing a fair job while doing the dishes. I wash my dishes manually just because I prefer not to waste a dishwasher cycle for little things and so far, the sponges have held pretty well with normal use.I am stating normal use because my cat has taken the fancy to use one as a prey that ends up being chewed on and spat away. In those cases, unfortunately only the scrubber part seems to have some level of resistance. What provides me with a bit of comfort is the idea that she has not gotten sick since she started doing this and that most of the sponge is biodegradable.In conclusion:For normal use: 4 stars.

I don’t get these on Amazon since they went up so much but I used to. I like these cause they don’t have any color added. I’ve been using these for a long time since I switched from the 3M blue ones (I know a company with a sordid past) but I still buy them because I have found no suitable natural replacement. Now I get them at another store that starts with W where they are cheaper hint: it’s not Walmart.
My favorite sponges. I’ve been using these for a few years. They last a long time compared to other sponges. They are easy to keep clean and they don’t smell bad like some sponges do after a while. My favorites sponges.
Best I’ve found so far. Love the color and it does the job!Hate the moldy smell on sponges after a few uses, but this one seems to stay pretty good that way as long as you rinse it well etc! I don’t have a dishwasher so use it in hot water then rinse it.Will be purchasing again!
product has changed no longer loofa scrub on back. used to buy at local stores, but now can’t find. Product has changed since I last bought, which was previously plant-based with loofa fiber abrasive side. Now it says “100% plant-based sponge with 100% recycled content scrubbing surface” (recycled content undefined). I liked it better with the loofa scrubber.
Great sponges. I like to use as many natural products as I can in my home. These do a great job with all of my cleaning needs, tough enough to scrub the baked-on crusties off my casserole dishes, but it doesn’t scratch the finish.

Like them but. They don’t last long. All sponges get an odor no matter what you do so you should disinfect often.
Cleans okay. Not made from coconut shells like older version, but still cleans well. Does have that smell after using for awhile. The previous version never really smelled bad like most sponges.
The only sponge I will use. I strongly dislike using sponges because, within a few uses, they smell bad. These have been the only ones to not have this issue. They are strong enough for daily use without falling apart and I haven’t noticed any bad odor from them. I will purchase it again.

Color blends in with my kitchen. Color blends in with my kitchen, I have no idea why sponges come in these bright yellow or bright blue or bright pink colors, does that really blend in with someone’s countertop and kitchen decor?!
