This is nice when it’s working, but it takes a lot of work to (keep) it working. I am not compensated by anyone to write my review…This is nice when it’s working. My pool has two vacuum ports, and this takes one of them…It’s isn’t providing much suction so, it’s not the best. However, when it is working, it’s nice to have. First, I must say I have a 9′ x 18′ x 52′ Intex pool. It has two suction inlets. Also, just as a top item. I wish the assembly could better seal so the only way to suck in water was over the blue ring. The following is a description of that failing to work correctly. In order to get this to work properly, you must restrict the flow of the other. I have found a custom made plug, much like the gray one contained in it (only with a few extra holes from leather punch) works best. HOWEVER, you cannot leave your pool this way, as you will not get proper filtration and will have crap build up at the bottom. I usually take it off restrictor either each night, or when I think about it and let the pump run normally for a while with no skimmer attached. You could also just remove the skimmer hose, but it is a giant pain to grab again from outside the pool.It also helps to have this “skimmer” in the back corner. I thought the middle would work initially but it didn’t seem to work as well as the back edge. I am afraid I might be disturbing the proper circulation though. One MAJOR problem, air in the lines as others have stated.ADDITIONALLY, periodically, the suction will no longer pull the basket down and activate the (blue) float ring to dip letting water flow over it. So instead it basically pulls water in from under the upper lip, or from the very bottom defeating the purpose of the skimmer. I really don’t care for this design, but with some constant TLC, it will clear the leaves and bugs, etc. from your pool. My pool is next to an oak tree on one side, and a cherry tree on the other (holy moly, lots of cleaning). Essentially, I have to use whatever I can get to automate the surface. I also have to frequently vacuum, but it is worse when the skimmer isn’t working. Today, I clean an nights worth of wind blow debris in about an hour (without manual skimming), but I did have to keep resetting the skimmer, and emptying the basket about every 20 minutes. This bring out another point that many have made. A good wave or wind, maybe a large bee are all good culprits and blowing the debris in the blue ring all over the pool. One method I use, take hand leaf skimmer (the oval looking one) and depress the blue ring while skimming the top bit of debris. That cleans a lot of it without much manipulation. Depending on quick/accurate I am, it usually fairs well. For the other times, it takes a bit to catch all the stuff I just dumped back into the pool. The mounting arm is pretty flimsy, and quite annoying. However, keep in mind it is adjustable for a purpose. If you have the arm too high, the basket will be very close to the top ring and might create to much suction, which will eventually cause it to stop functioning. If however, it is too low, the suction will not be strong enough to keep the blue ring below the water (ie situation described above where the water is sucked in below the blue ring), eventually causing it to fail. It takes a balance, and a lot of attention. I have taken to ,moving mine so it is angled forcing the front of the blue ring to always be slightly in the water (skimmer moved towards side of pool). The at least delays the suction issue where the blue ring won’t dip below the water. Not great, but we do what we can.Skimmer socks (smaller cloth based filters that fit over the basket, inside the blue ring) will work great for a short while, but then get filled up with junk and blocks the port. It also makes it harder for a weak pump. I’ve tried them on the inside around just the basket, I’ve tried them around the entire assembly, which works for a bit. Ultimately, I think I might have figured out a way to keep them working, but alas, pull them off each time. The crap off Oak Trees can pass right through some of these wide filters, and reduce the suction on your pump. If you have a filter style, stop and clean it. One time mine was nearly clogged in under ten minutes (is in, I just replaced the filter with a new one, started the pump, 10 minutes later I had to pull it out and rinse it off again). I’ve also had the sand one need a backwash after a short time for similar reasons.Another note as some have stated. The blue plastic connector port for the side of the inlet WILL NOT work directly with a vacuum hose. That was an older connector design (probably around 2014 or earlier) that allowed a vacuum hose to be inserted in to the connector. Now that same area is covered by a plastic grate to prevent large debris. Apparently as others have said, the only way to get the correct attachment is the cleaning kit. I’ve just ordered one, so I’ll review it once I have it.All in all, it’s definitely a good thing to have, but it IS NOT set and forget. Sometimes it works great for a week, sometimes I have to screw with it every 10 minutes. Most of it has to do with the conditions it’s operating in.

  4. Amazing!!! Keeps our pool MUCH cleaner. The deluxe kit works well with the Intex Easy Set or Bestway Fast Set pools, which have the inflatable rings at the top. The skimmer comes with a bracket, which fits those type pools, AND a bracket, which works with frame pools. (Read description to make sure both brackets are included in set you purchase.) Also make sure your filter pump handles at least 800 gph.Suggestions for best performance:🔹1. Unless you are using a powerful filter, use the plug, which comes with the kit, to put INSIDE the second strainer cap/cover. The plug PURPOSELY has a hole in it, so it slows down the suction on that strainer, but increases the suction on the skimmer! (The same plug is used, if you connect a vacuum to the pool.)🔹2. Because high temperatures can cause the inflated ring to lose air, be careful! You don’t want your entire skimmer to slip to a slanted position, which will cause the skimmer to suction air into your filter!!▪️I discovered, if I tie the skimmer bar, where the nut is, that adjusts the height, to the strainer base, which goes through pool wall to attach to hose, it keeps the skimmer from flipping up, if the pool is left unattended. You can still change the height of skimmer, depending on water depth. I have used a “horse knot” but a regular, tight knot works fine. I wouldn’t trust a bow; the suction could untie it!! Make sure ends of tie are short enough, so they aren’t flowing into skimmer.▪️📍This year, I just used a small, ball-bungee cord to tie it down. Super easy!▪️Also, make sure the bracket is fastened pretty tightly—not so tight it could hurt the ring, but secure enough, that it’s difficult to turn it on the ring. Remember…, the inflatable ring will lose air, at times, so if the bracket isn’t tight enough, the entire skimmer could tilt up, when you aren’t looking, if it isn’t tied down, and air will be suctioned into your filter!!! If it’s tied down well, and bracket is snug, you shouldn’t have problems! (I haven’t had it tilt, since I began tying it down!! Yay!!)🔹3. The Blue case, which has the basket inside, MUST FLOAT a little above the white outer casing! I would suggest allowing 1-2” between blue top edge and white casing. Water will flow inside white casing a little, which also filters water. When the blue part floats freely, the water is suctioned over the top, pulling debris on top of the water into basket. (You will notice leaves and bugs gradually moving toward the skimmer and then flowing over the top. Once inside, they can’t get back out,…as long as pump is on.🔹4. BEFORE TURNING OFF THE FILTER, grab the handle of basket and pull it and the blue casing COMPLETELY out of the main, white casing of skimmer and out of the pool to dump debris on the ground. Then, you can turn off filter, replacing the clean basket/blue casing back into position. If you turn the filter off first…., the debris in the basket, especially bugs, will flow back into the pool! 🤦🏼‍♀️ (Sometimes, we learn the hard way! 😂)🔹5. Keep chemicals/pool water balanced. I mainly use chlorine, stabilizer, and algaecide. Baking soda can be used to raise ph and alkalinity, if needed, which will improve clarity and stability. Run filter a few hours/day. I use shock (generally liquid) and algaecide, if I will be gone a few days (leaving filter off). I haven’t had to drain the pool or had any problems flats year or this year. (I bought the skimmer last year!!! Makes a difference!!) I don’t cover the pool anymore, either, since I have the skimmer.🔹6. The handle on my basket broke during the second year of use. However, it still works great. Recently, I attached a strong cord, so I could have a handle for my basket again. (You can buy baskets on Amazon. Just make sure you get the right size.) My basket has worked for 2 years, and I only had the handle break.♦️NOTE: This year, we purchased a sand filter, which was made for these pools, and I have been AMAZED how much easier it has been to keep the pool water clean, clear, and balanced! I run the filter a few hours a day (skimmer still attached, of course) and test the water 1-2 times/week, as long as it’s balanced. I keep chlorine tablets in a floater at all times, but I don’t use NEAR the amount of chemicals with the sand filter, as I did with the cartridge filter!!! Watch for sales, which is what we did. The Bestway cartridge filter worked well on our 18’ pool, but the sand filter paid for itself, since I haven’t had to use and purchase as many chemicals!!! ✏️ We live in the country (farm land and ranch area with a dirt/gravel road), so the skimmer has been amazing for us!! It skims leaves, bugs, grass, etc, into the basket, keeping our pool MUCH cleaner, since they don’t sink to the bottom. You might wonder, at first, if it’s really working, but watch as items make their way towards the skimmer! When you clean the skimmer, you will see how much debris it captured, especially, if you live in an area, where bugs and leaves are constantly getting in the pool!! I realized that I have only had to vacuum the pool after big wind/dirt or rain storms. (It has been extremely dry here!). Of course, if I have been gone a few days, which means the pump and skimmer weren’t turned on, I will need to vacuum the pool and run the filter/skimmer, before swimming. I used the skimmer on a bestway fast set, 18’ pool last year and an intex easy set, 15’ this year–using the SAME skimmer! I won’t have another pool without a skimmer!!

  7. Effective Functionality with Considerations for Suction Power. Maintaining a clean and debris-free swimming pool is essential for an enjoyable and hygienic swimming experience. The Intex Deluxe Wall Mount Surface Skimmer aims to simplify this task by efficiently removing leaves, insects, and other floating debris from the water’s surface. In this review, we will explore how the Intex Deluxe Wall Mount Surface Skimmer works effectively, but with some considerations regarding its suction power, especially when paired with less powerful filters.Efficient Debris Removal:The Intex Deluxe Wall Mount Surface Skimmer effectively removes surface debris from your swimming pool, ensuring clear and pristine water. By attaching the skimmer to the wall of your pool, it creates a constant flow of water that pulls in floating debris towards the collection basket. The skimmer’s design enables it to capture leaves, bugs, and other contaminants before they sink to the bottom of the pool, minimizing the need for manual cleaning and maintenance. This results in a cleaner pool and reduces the strain on your filtration system.Compatibility with Filter Power:While the Intex Deluxe Wall Mount Surface Skimmer offers effective debris removal, it’s important to consider the suction power it provides, especially in relation to the filter system you have. The skimmer’s performance is directly influenced by the power and capacity of your pool’s filtration system. If you have a powerful enough filter, the skimmer will work optimally, providing strong suction to draw in and collect debris efficiently. However, if your filter is less powerful, the skimmer’s suction power may be diminished, affecting its overall effectiveness.Considerations for Suction Power:If you find that the suction power of the Intex Deluxe Wall Mount Surface Skimmer is lower than expected, it’s worth evaluating your filtration system. Upgrading to a more powerful filter can significantly improve the skimmer’s performance, allowing it to efficiently collect debris and maintain a cleaner pool. Additionally, regularly cleaning and maintaining your skimmer and filter system can optimize their performance and ensure proper suction power. It’s important to note that the skimmer is designed to work best with Intex above-ground pools, and compatibility with other pool types may vary.Easy Installation and Maintenance:Installing the Intex Deluxe Wall Mount Surface Skimmer is a straightforward process. The skimmer attaches easily to the pool’s wall, connecting to the existing pool filtration system. The package includes all the necessary components and clear instructions, making the installation hassle-free. Maintenance is also relatively simple, with the collection basket easily removable for emptying and cleaning. Regularly emptying the basket prevents clogging and ensures continued optimal performance.Value and Cost-Effectiveness:The Intex Deluxe Wall Mount Surface Skimmer offers good value and cost-effectiveness for pool owners looking to enhance their cleaning routine. Compared to manual skimming methods, the skimmer saves time and effort by continuously removing debris from the pool’s surface. While the suction power may be influenced by the filter system, upgrading to a more powerful filter can improve the skimmer’s performance, ensuring effective debris removal. The skimmer’s durable construction and ease of maintenance add to its long-term value. Conclusion:The Intex Deluxe Wall Mount Surface Skimmer provides efficient debris removal from the surface of your swimming pool, contributing to cleaner and clearer water. Its design and functionality simplify maintenance and reduce the need for manual skimming. However, the suction power of the skimmer may vary depending on the power and capacity of your pool’s filtration system. Consider upgrading to a more powerful filter if you find the suction power to be insufficient. With easy installation, straightforward maintenance, and overall value for money, the Intex Deluxe Wall Mount Surface Skimmer remains a practical choice for pool owners seeking an effective solution for surface

Great Purchase. I have owned many pools throughout the years. Our last pool was a 22ft pool that we used a few years before it was finally time to get rid of because of a hole. Last year we purchased a 15 ft pool and that is what we are currently using. In all the years I have owned pools I have never purchased a skimmer. I didn’t even know that you could purchase them for above ground pools that were from big box stores. After seeing lots of people praising how well these work I decided to see for myself. Upon opening I thought that the skimmer looked pretty big for my pool. Once I hooked it all up and got it in the pool it was a little bulky but it didn’t take away from our swimming experience. I keep our pool uncovered all summer so lots of bugs and debris end up in it. I usually vacuum the entire thing once a week. Since adding the skimmer my pool looks so much cleaner!! I haven’t had to vacuum it in two weeks and don’t think I will need to anytime soon. I can’t believe how well this thing works and for the price it is something every pool owner should have!! I purchased “socks” for this skimmer and I change them out every 5 days along with cleaning or replacing the main filter. The skimmer is always full of bugs and debris and the sock always has a gross color to it. Even when we get in the pool I notice once were out and I turn the skimmer on you can immediately see what looks like sunscreen oil pooling into this skimmer!! I cannot believe it took me so long to purchase one of these! It seems to be pretty durable and sturdy but it moves around a lot even after securing it to the cross bar on the pool. I think it will hold up as long as we aren’t super crazy with it. I think it could easily be broken if it were dropped on hard surface or kids were acting crazy in the pool.

  15. Purchased this skimmer back in 2020 and about to use it for it’s fifth pool season. One of the plastic latching bolts snapped last year and I needed to order replacements. But that’s to be expected with plastic components that sit in the sun all summer. This year the connecting hose disintegrated, when I tried connecting it, again going on five years, plastic parts wearing out is to be expected, a replacement hose has been ordered. The skimmer works great and catches nearly all leaves and debris from the surface before they have a chance to sink to the bottom of the pool which means much less vacuuming, and eliminates the need to constantly skim the pool surface by hand with a net.I’m pretty sure a higher capacity sand filter pump is needed for this skimmer to work properly. I don’t imagine there would be enough suction if trying to use it with the cartridge filter pumps that come with most Coleman/Intex pools. If your pool has two outlets, you will need to connect this skimmer to one of them and partially block the other to get the best results. I drilled a hole in one of my outlet drain plugs to restrict the water flow to that outlet and direct most of the pumps suction to the skimmer connection.

  16. No more bugs. I recently purchased the Intex Deluxe Wall Mount Surface Skimmer for my above-ground pool, and it has been a game-changer. This skimmer is incredibly efficient at catching bugs and debris before they sink to the bottom, keeping my pool clean with minimal effort on my part.Installation was straightforward, thanks to the adjustable bracket that easily attaches to the pool sidewall. The skimmer connects to the filter pump, ensuring continuous and automatic skimming. The durable polypropylene plastic construction is resistant to pool chemicals, and the strainer basket is easy to remove and clean. One of the best features is how it saves me time and energy. I no longer have to manually skim the pool every day. Instead, I can relax and enjoy swimming, knowing the skimmer is doing its job. The price is also reasonable, making it a great value for the convenience it offers.Overall, I highly recommend the Intex Deluxe Wall Mount Surface Skimmer to anyone looking for an effective and hassle-free way to maintain their pool.

  18. 19. Passar perfekt på den ”nya” typen av ram. Anslutningen för vattnet var enkel på den inre gängade delen i inloppet. Bara att skruva av yttre”locket”.

  20. Pool. This skimmer has been a life saver. It has kept so many leaves and bugs out of our pfull. We had to buy socks for it just to keep the small stuff from going down into the filter and it works perfect. You just clean the sock every so often and replace it if it gets too bad and you are good to go half. Your cleaning is done for you. It was super easy to install. And easy to run material is good quality. And there has been no leakage when it came to put in the hoses on.If you want to save time on clean and get you this one you won’t regret it

  24. Great Pool Skimmer—A Little TLC Needed, but Totally Worth It. I wasn’t sure if the Intex Deluxe Wall-Mounted Surface Skimmer would actually work, but after struggling for ages with leaves, bugs, and random debris floating around my pool, I finally decided to give it a shot. Let me just say—this thing really surprised me.I use it on my 15′ Intex Easy Set pool with a 1500 GPH pump, and it’s been a game-changer. Within hours of setting it up, it started scooping out debris, and the pool has stayed noticeably cleaner. My kids splash around pretty hard, and even though sometimes big waves knock it loose or tilt it up, a simple adjustment or tightening usually fixes it. I definitely recommend tying it down or securing it a little better if your pool sees heavy use. Here’s my quick breakdown:Pros:Great at Picking Up Debris: Easily catches leaves, bugs, and floating grass, keeping the pool much cleaner.Simple Set-Up: It only took me about 10 minutes to install. Instructions are straightforward, and you don’t have to be handy to figure it out.Reduces Cleaning Work: Way less manual skimming and vacuuming. This thing does most of the heavy lifting.Cons:Needs Frequent Adjustments: If there’s lots of waves or wind, the skimmer sometimes tilts or sucks air into your pump. It can be a bit fussy.Plastic Parts Feel a Bit Flimsy: The arm and basket aren’t super sturdy. Mine hasn’t broken yet, but it feels like something that won’t last forever without some gentle care.Compatibility Limitations: Really best for Intex pools. You might have trouble fitting it securely on other brands.Overall:This skimmer isn’t totally “set it and forget it,” but honestly, it’s been a lifesaver for keeping my pool clear of bugs, leaves, and grass clippings. With just a little bit of attention and some simple tweaks (like tying it down or adjusting the height), it works wonders. If you’re tired of manually skimming your pool every day, you’ll love this thing.

  25. Works great. Works great, fits my Coleman 16′ pool just fine. (I had to clamp it at a plastic joint instead of on the metal support, it kept floating up.) Removes floating debris without me having to skim with a net.

  26. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Must-Have for a Crystal Clear Pool! Best Skimmer I’ve Tried. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Must-Have for a Crystal Clear Pool! Best Skimmer I’ve Tried!Let me just say—this Intex Deluxe Skimmer is a total game-changer. I was honestly getting tired of manually skimming the surface of our above-ground pool every day (leaves, bugs, random debris—you name it). After watching a few YouTube reviews and seeing this skimmer in action, I decided to give it a try… and WOW.Set-up was super simple—just mounted it to the side of the pool and hooked it up to our pump (we’re running an 800 GPH pump, and it works perfectly). The moment we turned it on, I could literally see the surface clearing up within minutes. That little basket inside collects everything floating before it even has a chance to sink to the bottom. What I really love is that it’s adjustable and doesn’t take up much space, and even when my son is splashing around like crazy, it keeps doing its job. Plus, it’s super easy to clean—just pop the basket out, empty it, and you’re done in seconds. If you’re debating on whether to get one—don’t wait. This skimmer has saved me so much time and effort, and our pool water has never looked better. If you’re serious about keeping your pool clean with minimal maintenance, this is a must-have!Check out the video to see how fast it clears the surface—you’ll be impressed.

  27. Game Changer. We ordered the skimmer to help with surface debris removal and paired it with a 1,200 GPH sand filter. It works great. We also added a skimmer sock to boost filtering efficiency. The key to getting the best performance is installing the flow restrictor on the other return intake and making sure the skimmer stays level with the water’s surface. We know it’s dialed in when the surface water inside the skimmer is swirling. After our granddaughter swims, we often need to readjust the skimmer to keep it level—but it’s quick and easy, taking just 15 seconds.

Works great. Easy to set up and keeps our pool surface clean! It is durable and light weight. It fit our pool well. We use it with a sock and it catches even more of the small particles. Works great!

Works great, easy to install. Works really great. Just make sure if you have a dual outlet pool – you use the flow reducer on one side. I don’t believe the directions say so, but you might have to unscrew a small screw on the outlet covers on the inside of the pool.
