dangerous chemicals but it works well. I am a chemist. recently I was working with iron solution and some got on my shirt and dried up. the result: rust. I bought this rust remover to see what it could do and it works very well. the reason it works is it contains hydrofluoric acid which dissolves the rust quickly. what does this mean for you? first of all use gloves (if you use household gloves use two pairs at a time). acid burns are no joke. second, be careful where you use the rust remover. if you have a metal sink, avoid using it, as it will eat at the metal of the sink with the same zeal that it will remove the stain. use a porcelain sink or tub and make sure it doesn’t touch your skin. This is not a soaking solution, you should see the stain come out before your eyes. when it does, immediately run the spot under large amounts of water (or risk the acid leaving you with a nice hole in your clothes). then put it in the laundry before you use it.an alternative method which is much safer is to use a milder acid like lime juice and have it soak into the fabric for an hour or so. it will take longer, but it is cheaper and safer.

Great Stuff…Says Only For White Toilets, But Worked Great On My Light Green. Wow….This is just what I was looking for…For some reason certain spots inside my toilet bowl get rust stains…Not the whole thing, jut a few streaks here and there…Scrubbing them out is just about the toughest job I have undertaken as far as cleaning anything. I have used scratch pads with bleach, cleansers of all kind, cleaning pads like the Mr Clean ones, and nothing works without a lot, and I mean a lot of hard scrubbing….Figure in the angle of which you have to work under the rim and the fact that it’s a toilet you are sticking your hands into and its just about the grossest job around the house..When this stuff arrived I was so anxious to try it I just squirted it directly on the stains and brushed it with a regular toilet brush. The stains started fading almost immediately and with one more application they were gone. I am sure that using a scrub pad with gloves and really applying yourself would have been even faster, but I didn’t have any gloves handy at the moment…And I managed to get rid of the stains with just a long handled brush and a couple of squirts…As much as doing this kind of job can be described as easy, I have to say doing it with this stuff is near a pleasure…I’ll never be without it again…In conclusion there is one thing that I think I should mention…The bottle specifically states to use it only on white toilets..That didn’t stop me for I didn’t think this stuff could in any way make my old sea foam colored toilet look any worse, and it didn’t. Maybe with a real dark color you would have to test a little spot on it or use something else, but for me it worked perfectly and didn’t harm the bowl or color at all. Great stuff at a very reasonable price…Highly recommended..

Very Effective, but use caution. We are preparing our house for sale and the humidifier line drained in our laundry sink. Over 13yrs it left pretty good stains. As the sink was plastic we were looking for a relatively safe and effective way to remove the stains without replacing or damaging the sink. We used the product and we got this result in about 20min of trial and error. Error in that we did not let it sit like we probably should have for the first time and were too eager to wash it away, out of concern for the sink itself. We also had some problem getting it to adhere to the sides and into the corner. The liquid is thick but it does run. We are very pleased with the results and the cost was well worth it, including a new pair of gloves (I had a good pair but I know it has a small cut in one finger-good enough for somethings but not this). That is the warning. This is dilute Hydrofluoric acid, it is dangerous stuff if it gets on you. This is what they used (in higher concentration) to etch glass. Wear good gloves and eye protection in case of any splashing when you rinse. Otherwise it is a really excellent product and would by again if I needed more.
WILL etch porcelain bathtub or sink – perfect prep for porcelain repair. Ok – up front – not using exactly as recommended or intended. Have a porcelain tub with a large chip. Sand it, fill with good stuff, cover with porcelain paint – it sticks to the chipped area, but not around it. Needed to prep it out further. Recommenation is Hydroflouric Acid to etch porcelain – which is Whink’s active ingredient. It is too thin – but I placed paper towels on & around chip, saturated them with Whink. LET IT SIT 24h.Come back – the rusted area on the chip is clean & better, the porcelain around is etched rough.Wash, dry, sand with rough sand – still very rough etched surface. Filler sticks WELL, particularly where it thins out. Paint sticks to the filler & the roughened porcelain, too.How well it holds up? Time will tell.BUT… if I ever get around to complete tub refinish job – I’ll start with Whink to prep the surface. Pro’s use a HF acid etchant as prep for such a job – but HF acid is HARD to get – and dangerous – and expensive. This is well diluted, but powerful enough to do the job if you can get it to stick to the surface – saturated paper towels work for small areas, we’ll see for larger areas. I do wish it were not a thin liquid, but a gel consistency.Tried it on some simple rust stains (concrete) – poof – gone. Like that. Just gone. For the $ much better than Naval Jelly.

Awesome product. I don’t really use it so much for it’s intended but you don’t have to worry about heavy residue or damaging clothes or skin agitation at least in the immediate sense etc… I by chance you have glass with residue inside it pour a bit and heat the are of residue and lifts right off.. pour remaining onto a paper towel work off any other debris rinse with water
So happy to find this product. I am a renter and the washing machine at my house has a bit of rust on the back side of the drum. If I leave clothes in it after the spin cycle I get rust spots all over my stuff. I had tried so many things to get the stains out but nothing worked. I even threw stuff out since it was ruined. I found this product and decided to try it. A small drop on the fabric and the rust literally dissolves in seconds. Greatest find!!
It works. Took the eye, skin, surface protection seriously – it is an acid sol’n….. but it did significantly improve the toilet bowl of rust stains. I had to do a second application….but it looks like a new toilet bowl!!! I am very meticulous about toilet bowls being clean so it really bothered me bc looked like it was yellowed (like pee!!!)….. so what a great product!!! I will buy again!
It works. It works. And really…what more do you want from it. I set something rusty on my white leather car seats. And a rust stain on white leather doesn’t look like a rust stain…..it looks…. nasty. I tried several other tried and true cleaners…both meant for leather and not. None of them budged the stain one bit. I finally got around to using this. I bit of paper towel and a few good squirts of this on the paper towel and the stain came RIGHT UP. Gone. Nary a trace. It took but a minute. I was cursing myself because of course I chose the third or fourth 100º day to tackle this. I was fully prepared to spend a heatstroke inducing amount of time scrubbing. It wasn’t quite one swipe, but it was close. I literally had one piece of those “choose a size” paper towel. Seat was fine as well.I would liken the removal to removing nail polish. It takes a bit, but it comes right off.

It works very well. It is easy to use, and works very well. JJK
Good rust stain remover. We used to get this rust stain remover from our grocery store, but they stopped carrying it. My wife is the one who uses this. She says it works really well and wanted me to find it somewhere else when our local store stopped carrying it. So here we are online.
Rust remover. Takes rust stains off anything!
