Less Messy and Time Consuming than Sanding. I am currently expecting my first baby with my husband. When we found out, I knew immediately that we had a lot of work to do around the house prepping for baby. Our house was built in the 50’s and there’s a lot of natural wood, heavily lacquered trim and hollow core doors. Previous owners had painted some trim white, some doors white, and I knew I wanted all of the trim white. I also read that you could update your home and make it look more expensive if the doors were painted black.I can only be around low odor, zero VOC paint. Behr makes a primer and paint in one that is just that. I bought Polar Bear for the trim and Carbon for the doors.I used the Krud Kutter deglosser on the trim and the door. I did read through several reviews before I used it. I rubbed it on the wood surfaces with a Scotch Brite scrubbing pad. The trim was a little tricky, especially in the grooves. It does clean grime off as well so I wiped everything down with a damp microfiber cloth.It took a 3-4 coats of the white because wood grain would show through. The door was coated almost in 1 coat, second coat for touch ups.This was much easier and less messy than traditional sanding and does a good job. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because it says “non toxic” but there’s warnings not to get it on your skin or in your eyes. When I think non-toxic, I think I wouldn’t have to wear gloves to use it. There is no smell, I did have open windows and a fan going for precaution, but I didn’t notice any side effects of bad fumes. It does dry quickly and can be painted soon after application.
Does not work to remove gloss paint. Did not work to remove the gloss paint from bathroom cabinets. However did remove old stains on the cabinet doors… But that’s not why i bought it…
Works Super Well. Wow who knew how dirt the trim in my office would be! This product really really works! It’s so easy to apply and rinse off! I am so impressed! If you are preparing to paint trim I highly recommend this product! Amazing!!
Works. I bought this because I needed something to clean off my cabinets before I painted them. This is an amazing cleaner. Be sure to wear gloves when using though.
Cleaner. Did the job. Definitely a must before repainting old furniture.
It works with some elbow grease. We bought this to help get clear coat off of our doors and trim. After sanding and applying this, everything looks good. I did have to use a couple coats. The fact that it doesn’t fume chemicals all over my house was an added plus. That was the whole reason we chose this particular brand. Is it the best on the market? Probably not, but that’s most likely because it isn’t laced with these strong chemicals that work better but are horrible for your health.It’s kind of like spraying weeds with roundup vs a vinegar mixture. It takes a little more work but is healthier in the end.
Great Cleaner. I was repainting my bathroom vanity and decided to use this instead of sanding the original wood. This stuff was WONDERFUL! It cleaned great, the odor wasn’t overly powerful, and I save a step in the process because I didn’t have to sand anything! Within 10 minutes, it was dry and I was able to paint (which turned out really nice). I highly recommend!

Wow – So Easy and Effective. I bought to treat some kitchen cabinets that we are transitioning from a wood grain composite to white. This product was super easy to use and doesn’t have an horrible smell and allowed for priming within record time. I would gladly use again!!

Think liquid sandpaper. I’m painting a piece of finished furniture but sanding is messy, time consuming and almost impossible to get into those little details. I use this to insure my water based paint adheres well, and it works! Even if you want to do some light sanding on places that get a lot of use, use this afterward as insurance. And there’s very little odor so you can use indoors. Great stuff!

amazing. This saved me so much time.I was able to paint my antique bed frame that had been sitting for 18 months waiting to get painted without sanding it or stripping it from the gloss it worked as intended and now I want to try all other Krud kutter cleaners.
Great product. I used this on my wood dinner table and side table. Wanted to go black & white. Needless to say someone told me about this product and it worked great. It’s really a liquid sanding.
