Nitric oxide is one of the most important molecules produced by humans and is considered the “Holy Grail” in cardiovascular medicine. Loss of nitric oxide production is what leads to chronic disease. Without healthy NO (Nitric Oxide) levels you cannot be healthy and prevent the diseases of aging. Nitric oxide is the secret to anti-aging.This book reveals the latest scientific and medical information so that readers can understand the importance of nitric oxide for optimal health. Interesting subject. The importance of the microbiome in the mouth and gut was an eye opener. Good info. The relationship between nitrate, nitride and nitric oxide is crucial to know. This
Nitric Oxide (NO) Important in Human Nutrition. Cutting edge research on NO. Effective plan of action to boost NO, NO2, NO3 and their role in human nutrition. Somewhat repetitive and meandering writing, book could have easily been shortened. Main points: 1. NO formed in body by endothelial cells via arginine pathway and via NO3 to NO2 breakdown by bacteria in mouth followed by NO2 to NO gas breakdown in stomach (if ph is under 3.0) followed by absorption in the gut. A teaspoon to tablespoon of apple cider vinegar will lower ph in older adults that often do not make enough stomach acid. 2. NO endothelial arginine pathway decreases by 10-12% per decade, so decreases by 50% by age 50 and by 75% at age 70. 3. The NO3 -> NO2 -> NO Pathway is entirely disrupted by using antiseptic mouthwash, fluoride toothpaste, or by PPI antacid tablets. 4. Systolic blood pressure reductions of 12 mmHg may occur with regular supplementation. 5. May reduce insulin resistance in diabetics. Has many other positive effects on heath. 6. Too much causes a mild, temporary (~1 hr), headache.A good read.
