Don’t let it tilt, otherwise it’s great. Have to admit… I didn’t read the full description and didn’t realize this was JUST the strap (totally my fault.) That being said, I kept the strap to use on another mat I already had. I do like the padded area on the shoulder strap, but I wish the straps around the mat could tighten further. If the mat tilts while on your shoulder, it’ll likely slip out of the loop and you drop your mat in the mud…like I did. Just something to be aware of, but like all Manduka products, it’s great quality and I’ll continue to use it.
Love this strap. Love this strap! I like how there is an extra padding for when it’s on your shoulder. The color is great and matches any yoga mat. I personally like the fact that there are no patterns, but I’m sure Manduka has other straps that have patterns. This strap is very sturdy and feels like great quality. I got one because my friend and I ride my her motorcycle to yoga, so this made it possible to hold the yoga mat when I sit on the back. I never felt like it was going to slip off or unroll, etc. Keep in mind, I also have a very nice, gripy Manduka yoga mat, so if yours is a bit slippery, I cannot vouch for that.
It is worth buying if you are looking for affordable but stainable yoga mat carriers. I loved that the carrier was adjustable and comfy to wear. The texture was soft but sturdy and I knew it was a high quality material when I touched it. The only discomfort I had with the carrier is that I had to adjust the straps of the carrier so the buckles aligned on the carrier (just a pet peeve of mine though).
Not for thick yoga mats. It barely fits over my extra thick yoga mat and the straps have to be very close together. I have a bad back so I need the thickness.I’ll see if I can roll the mat tighter next time.
Excellent Yoga Mat Carrier with a Little Brain Power. Like other Manduka products, they make amazing high-quality products… with limited good instructions on how to best utilize it.If you use this commuter yoga strap like it shows in the product pictures, you’ll be okay-ish. Your mat won’t slip while you’re carrying it and the added cushioning on the middle portion is nice on the shoulders. But if you’re like me, you’ll probably be annoyed that leaving the mat flat in its carrier in the car or for several days will slowly loosen and unfurl (very annoying).Well! There’s actually a better way to use it that prevents this! After playing with the straps a bit, I realized you can double loop it to prevent this problem. If you look at the photo I uploaded, that’s my mat in the car in its carrier (the one on the left is my extra yoga mat in a velco carrier). Notice how it’s tight enough that the strap is biting into the mat itself. This is the ideal way to use this carrier.Now, how do you do this? Ok, so you might have to play with it a little to figure it out, but the first loop is for the buckle to bite onto itself, not for the mat to go through. If you feed the other end of the strap through that first loop, you create a second loop for the mat to go into. Tightening this causes the first loop to bite onto the strap holding it tight while you adjust the second loop down to secure your mat. Viola!You can play with how you feed the strap through to create this biting action, but it seems to work a lot better after I figured this out. Hope this helps!
Perfect for beginner in yoga. Bought this for a friend who recently took up yoga. She was using a cheaper/thinner store bought and this was such an upgrade for her. She loved it… said it made all the difference with the quality

It works with Manuka mat. After I received this I looked at negative reviews and was astounded. It is a simple, functional, well-made strap that serves its basic purpose. It self tightens enough to carry on the shoulder, it cinches just fine to hold a Manuka mat vertically. Manuka recommends rolling the mat with the bottom out so it lays flat when unrolled, that side is textured and clings to the strap. I don’t know if others are not following directions or what, but this product works just fine.

Gravity cinch is great. I have other mat straps but they have velcro which is incredibly noisy in a quiet room, or they stretch out and are useless. Bought this — it works beautifully – quick, easy – quiet.
