  1. Works, but not optimal. To preface, I’m an Asian who grew up always eating rice, so when I moved out, I was keen on getting a cheap but decent rice cooker ASAP. I’ve had it for a little under a year now, and for comparison I’ll use my parents’ Cuckoo CR-0631F, which I’ve always liked.I wasn’t expecting much out of this rice cooker when I bought it due to the price, but I trust Zojirushi so I had my fingers crossed. Overall, it’s a good purchase!Good points of the Zojirushi:+ consistently well-cooked rice+ very easy to use (just put rice, water, and then flip the switch)+ is obvious when it is on (red light emits)+ well-priced (cheap!)+ has lasted longer than I expected+ easy to clean, except for the first bad pointBad points:- has an issue with water bubbling/spilling out the top sometimes (along the steam escape hole and sides of the lid), which is annoying and messy. countertop on which it stands ends up wet and sticky with rice water. have to use a cloth to prevent this from making a mess–> good point: it doesn’t happen ALWAYS, mostly only when cooking smaller amounts of rice- no “warm” option, so any rice you cook will get cold if you leave it in the cooker. means you have to either freeze/reheat the rice or cook new rice every time- occasionally rice is very watery after it is finished cooking, but it quickly becomes the right consistency/texture once taking it out of the pot to coolFor the person/family that doesn’t often eat rice, this is a great purchase. The downsides are so minor that you won’t notice them if you’re only using this occasionally. The price is good. It is a very basic rice cooker, but it is consistent, reliable, and sturdy. However, for the person/family that often eats rice, this might become annoying, as it has for me. I’m looking into getting a Cuckoo with a warming function in the future.

  2. Very pleased with this little gem. This is our second rice cooker. Although we were pleased with the previous “other brand” that made wonderful rice during the 12 years of ongoing use, we decided to replace it with the Zojirushi based on reputation, size and looks and so far we have not been disappointed. The rice turns out perfect every time. It fits nicely in the cupboard, looks good on the counter and it is super simple to use. It has not produced any of the messiness that has been reported in other reviews (and that we experienced with the former rice cooker, which I think may be common with most rice cookers of this style). Very pleased with our purchase and highly recommend.

  3. Esta arrocera es de gran calidad y cocina el arroz de manera perfecta. No es necesaria otra.

Good product, NOT MADE IN CHINA!🤔😃👍. I cook brown rice often, and need a reliable cooker. I know most everything is made cheaply in china, and didn’t like buying from a country with their record. This cooker is Japanese, and is very fast and effective. There is one small problem, though… While it is nearly done cooking,it spits rice water and drools quite a lot of it out onto the countertop. I am going to place a kitchen towel under it in future to avoid the mess it creates. Aside from this small inconvenience I am happy with my little rice cooker, overall, and recommend it, with only the one minor exception. 🤔🍚🥢😃❤️ (T.L.P.)

  5. So easy. Love this simple rice cooker.. it makes perfect brown rice, as well as white rice. I just use the measuring cup that comes with it. It also has a small steamer insert, which I haven’t tried, but someday I will. This rice cooker is so much easier to clean than the previous one I had for years. It also makes better rice than my instapot (which I tried to just use that, once my old rice cooker but the dust) it also has capacity to make large amounts of rice.

  6. A bit messy. We have owned rice cookers for over 20 years. This one, is very very messy, with starch water spraying nearby. I need a towel over the lid when cooking even 1 cup of rice. The steam hole must be a bit larger than our older cookers and I suspect, the heating coil is hotter resulting in a more rambunctious boil. I does cook rice which is why we bought it.

  7. Intuitive Use – Perfect for Cooking Rice. This product was wonderfully easy to use and I love the fact that the electrical cord is detachable. That was the reason for a new rice cooker in my case, as the old one’s cord had split and was showing bare wires. We have had it for about 2 months and have used it 6-8 times now and, thus far, it has held up wonderfully. I love that the vegetable steaming rack is metal! All in all, this seems like a very durable, long-lasting product! Let us hope it remains so!

  8. Great quality and instructions. I like the pan’s smooth lining and exterior surface. It releases food and dirt easily after a soak in cold water.Even better are the instructions. They are clearly written and easy to follow. They include brown rice!

  9. Zojirushi NHS-06 3-Cup Rice Cooker: Small but Mighty. I just got the Zojirushi NHS-06 3-cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker in white, and I absolutely love it! This little rice cooker is incredibly easy to use. Just flip the single switch, and you’re on your way to perfectly cooked rice. The see-through glass lid is fantastic because you can keep an eye on the rice without lifting the lid, and the knob stays cool, so no burnt fingers here. The handles also stay cool, making it super easy to move around even when it’s hot.The nonstick inner cooking pan is a total game changer. No more rice sticking to the bottom, and cleaning up is so easy. Plus, it comes with a handy measuring cup. One 6-ounce cup of uncooked rice makes about 2 to 3 cups of cooked rice, which is perfect for small meals.Overall, the Zojirushi NHS-06 is an awesome little rice cooker. It’s perfect for small kitchens and cooks rice perfectly every time. If you’re looking for a reliable and easy-to-use rice cooker, this one is definitely worth it!If you’re having issues with starch-laden water spitting out of the tiny vent hole in the lid or water spraying out of the vent spout, it usually means you put in too much water or didn’t wash your rice thoroughly enough. I just cooked 3 cups (uncooked) of rice, and it came out perfect—no oversprays or water coming through the vent. Check out my pictures for reference.

  11. Great Taste, Fast Cleanup, So Simple to Use. After considerable pressure from my daughter, whose Asian friend says their family’s rice cooker is in use pretty much 24/7, we decided to buy one for our family. After researching quite a few models, I went with the Zojirushi because of its simple design and good reputation. It was a fine decision. We use this thing all the time. My kids love being able to cook rice for themselves.Pros* Controls – strike that, control singular – so simple that even your grandma who could never quite bring herself to use a cordless phone can’t mess it up* Very easy to clean* Rice tastes much better than what you get with the stovetop* Works well whether you’re cooking a lot at once or just one side servingCons* Does not require you to hook it up to WiFi, install an app on your phone, and confirm your identity just to make it stop impersonating a WiFi access point [OK, this is only a con according to engineers who work for LG]Other Thoughts*Saying it cooks 3 cups is a poor translation – it cooks up to 3 gou of rice, with a gou being a standard measure in Japan of enough dry rice for an entree-size serving. A gou is 180 cubic centimeters, or roughly 3/4 of an American “cup” measurement. Americans tend to serve rice as a side dish, and I find half a gou per person works well. As far as I can tell all rice cookers, even American and European brands, measure their capacity in gou but confusingly call it cup in English. The bottom line is that if you want to use American measuring cups with a rice maker, then figure a 3-cup cooker can only take 2 cups.*Don’t worry if Uncle Ben isn’t familiar with measurements in gou. To cook rice, all you need is the ratio of water to rice, which is usually 3:2 but can be different for certain rice varieties. In other words, if Uncle Ben says put in 2 cups of rice and 3 cups of water, but you just want to cook a 1/2 gou, you put in your 1/2 gou of rice and add 3/4 gou of water.*The cooking bowl lifts out for easy cleaning. I clean it along with the lid and accessories with a bit of soap and a sponge [sponges without an abrasive side are available on Amazon or at many Asian grocery stores]. A few quick swipes, rinse twice, and it’s done.

  14. Works surprisingly well. I’ve resisted getting a rice cooker for many years. After all, most cooks have a pot with a lid, right? Rice fixed that way has almost always turned out great and who wants another cooking gizmo to take up counter or storage space? Well, this Zojirushi NHS-06 3-Cup Rice Cooker is small enough to tuck in a cupboard and yet turns out a surprising amount of cooked rice. It’s not speedy — I can cook rice on the stovetop in 16 minutes; this rice cooker takes about 40 minutes. But it produces a great result (fluffy rice) and clean up is a snap. With a little advance planning, you can have rice for dinner without much trouble and you don’t have to keep an eye on it to get perfectly cooked rice. NOTE: as others have mentioned, when this rice cooker refers to “cups,” they mean their little measuring cup (about 3/4 cup), not a standard one cup measure. Recommended. Hope this helps!

  15. Something broke inside the main compartment. I received this a couple days ago and went to pick it up and there is something rolling around in the main compartment. I will try to see if it works, but if not will be looking for an exchange. Once I cook with it, I will update this post. The three star rating is simply for the condition of the rice maker and the broken piece rolling around and does not reflect its use.Update: I tried to use the rice maker for the first time to make a batch of Puerto Rican rice and it came out perfect. I don’t know what is rolling around in the main unit, but it makes a heck of a batch of rice. Great consistency, only browns at the bottom if you leave it on warm longer than necessary (which is a great thing for Latinos to get the ‘pegao’). Only hope is that it keeps working.

  16. Excellent rice cooker. I saw a friend use this rice cooker at his house while making dinner, and thought that it was neat; rice came out perfectly. I figured that all rice cookers are the same, so I ordered another more inexpensive model of rice cooker that’s similar size (brand starts with an “A”). The rice in that cooker burned, and so I returned it. I ordered this one, which I should have initially, and it works great. It’s well constructed (much more so than the other brand), and easy to use. Rice came out perfectly; fluffy, ideal stickiness. Easy to clean up and small so that it doesn’t take up much space. Highly recommended.

  18. Bought this a year ago, love it-. Great for our small family dinners (3 people). Rice cooker is quick (we usually use a US 8 oz. cup rather than the supplied Japanese 6 oz. one) for a 1:1 Jasmine rice to water ratio (I rinse the rice first a few times to get rid of much of the starch). Once the rice is finished, I give it a quick few turns with the provided paddle spoon and re-cover as I finish cooking the rest of the meal. It all plates together and is perfect (light, fluffy) each time. Cleanup is quick and easy.

  19. Got this rice cooker open boxed so the price was already fantastic compared to other companies. It’s super simple to use, just measure the amount of rice you want wash it and flip the switch. It’s also big enough to make rice for a family of 6. I highly suggest this
