A useless piece of garbage. I am struggling to recall a single inanimate object that has caused me as much unbridled rage as this thing. I actually got so fed up that I threw it on the ground and stomped it to smithereens.ITJUSTDOESN’TWORK.Endlessly unreliable, no matter how strong and high speed the internet is. It simply does not do what it’s supposed to do. It is rendered absolutely useless if every single time I ever leave my home it starts glitching out and failing to stay connected to the internet. 100 times in a row it will load the picture but drop its connection immediately after, so I never have a feed. I had to open and close the app over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again just to get even the remotest of an idea as to where my dog was located. I don’t understand why.I only write reviews like this when I spend money on something that has one single use and it fails to do that one thing. At that point it is as useful as a pile of rotten dog excrement. This thing has ruined so many of my nights – so many plans – because IT JUST DOESN’T WORK. IT DOESN’T DO THE SINGLE THING IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO.The most satisfaction this piece of junk ever gave me was the sensation it just gave me when I finally destroyed this thing. I hate this product. I hate it so much. I wish I could give it zero stars. It is worthless.
Good bang for buck. This is a good bang for your buck. Not a great bang for your buck. I’ve used Yi for 3 years now. The monthly service( although not necessary – I used free service for over a year) is affordable and fairly reliable/ however it seems every time I want to go back and view something important ( my child’s first steps) somehow the system “glitched”. I contact customer service, of course there’s nothing they can do. I have a stranger in my front and backyard with a weapon visible / but I can’t see anything but a blurry blob for his face in every single frame. Police department can do nothing with the images other than roll their eyes. I click live view to see if my babies are sleeping in their cribs soundly, well I can’t even see the babies in their cribs much less tell if they’re breathing or not. I suppose on 1080 being able to see chest rise and fall is too large an expectation, I don’t know. Most other times the cameras are fine for MINOR, LIGHT, BRIEF surveillance. Please consider something on a much higher level if you need to really micromanage a business for theft, or have any security issues at home or business, You will be disappointed. If you’re using these just for light surveillance at home / of your entrances , main common areas, tool or equipment storage or to watch your animals, you’ll most likely be pleased. The cameras last forever. They are easy to set up and maintain. The free service is fine, we only upgraded because we have 6 or so cameras and I like live view of multiple cameras at all times plus recorded cloud and SD memory. It’s worth the 9.99 monthly charge IF AND WHEN it happens to capture the images or videos I’m searching for. It glitches out and takes a while to view often, but as stated I’m not protecting a multimillion dollar museum of art, I use them for home security- in a safe secure area with more shotguns, rifles and rednecks than any other area of the US and I believe the cameras are just fine for that. If I lived in a high crime area I would consider another camera/service but for what we need they’re pretty ok. They mount easily. The motion detection is good. They run on 110 plug- so if power or WiFi is down, so are they, and we must hide cords in two rooms that we have them mounted on ceilings. You must purchase SIM card for cameras to function properly. You can share live feed or video via text or social media and can share camera view by allowing access and giving login to other family members/business partners through the YI account. You will be able to see if anyone has logged in or viewed your account. It offers additional password protection for uncommon areas such as bedrooms. That’s a nice feature. Over all good product. Yes I would purchase again. I’ve purchased several over the past few years and bought my in laws a system for their residence out of state. If another company were to offer a better product and better quality viewing for a comparable or even a bit higher price, I would change over in a heartbeat. So there’s my honest review. Hope it is helpful.

Reliable. I’ve purchased several of the 1080i cameras to monitor the inside of the house while away. They keep check on the pets. We had a location for this camera that has the 360 option to eliminate blind spots. These are great cameras at a reasonable price point. YI pushes their cloud service and they need to remember there are those on a budget and those like us in rural communities where internet is not readily available. When you’re struggling to hit 10 to 15mbps, having the cloud isn’t realistic, so SD cards are a must. We’ve finally gotten Starlink, so this hurdle is no more with over 100mbps. The YI cameras perform great with the network now and no lag to connect. I still won’t subscribe to the cloud, but remember YI, we are all not the same, and needs are different, and old tech is not bad tech. Oh and the SD location is in the second picture. When you turn the the camera off in the app, the camera rotates up and exposes the SD slot.
Worth every penny. This camera is great! I had trouble setting it up because for the first time ever I have a wifi router that doesn’t show the two bands, 5mhz and 2.4 mgz. So this 90scamera needs to be on 2.4. 5 mhz isn’t supported. I finally got into my router settings and separated the two bands, one for primary (5 mhz) and one for guest (2.4) Then I connected the camera to guest. It works really well. I like that I can talk through it too! This camera is worth the price. We will see how long it lasts. If it messes up I will update my review. The picture is really clear and so far the refresh rate is faster than other cameras in this price range. I’m sure it’s based on the speed of your wifi too. Mine is not fast and this still works well!
Quality images. Pros: easy to set up and moves adequatelySensitive to motionCons: Does not track motion as expected or return to last position
Purchased. I did not like the glitches that happened every now and again of having to restart system. But works for what I needed it for
6 months in and the sound abiilty is no longer working. motion detection at night time is a joke. 9 months in and the sound is no longer working. Tried to work with support to troubleshoot. they tell you delete camera from app, re-add camera. reset camera. do this do that. you know what, the camera speaker is flat out broken plain and simple. there is no mystery. so reliability is a real issue. 2nd is the motion detection is unreliable especially durng night time if the movement is within close color objects. For example, my dog is fawn color, he mix in well with my oak color hardwood floor and gray carpet. during night time, the camera cannot catch this motion. The objects literally must be opposite ends of color wheel black against white, etc. in order for it catch. and nevermind the fancy pet detection, car detection, person detection. sounds fancy but does not work. you’re lucky if you just get a detection.this camera has a SD slot HOWEVER unless you subscribe to their cloud service, the SD card will only records motions and as above mentioned it does not pickup motions well or timely. many times are clips of AFTER the motion has happened. So i do subscribe to their cloud service (the continous CVR plan) this way at least i can manually search for it. Definitely not the best camera around.
It works great. We had a few cameras that were stationary and we needed one that rotated. It came very quickly. It was very easy to install and even easier to view on our cell phone. It was packaged very well and a great price. We just might upgrade our other cameras and get a couple more. You can’t have too many views of our home and property these days.
Great Camera. I now have nine Yi cameras like this one. Need I say more.
