A fine and precision trimming instrument. Feels good in the hand, and is larger (5-10%?) in all dimensions than the comparable Fiskars trimmer, which costs about 2x this price. The blades bear against each other perfectly, and, on testing, I find I can even cut the thinnest piece of tissue paper with them, as a test of the blades’ nesting together. If this matching or proximity of the blades should change, it’s easy to tighten the Philips-head screw at the fulcrum of the tool.Handles are inlaid with non-slip rubber, a nice feature in case there’s perspiration or precipitation when you’re working.A great tool! Hats off, VivoSun!, and thanks.A minor quibble: I’ve become used to the action of the Fiskars. The VivoSun has a spring that’s a bit stronger than Fiskars’ spring. I’ll either get “used to” this higher (greater) restoring-force that impels the blades apart, or I’ll change the spring tension: How can I do that? Well, it’s easy to remove the spring, and if I heat it in a gas flame on the stove, holding it with kitchen tongs or a pliers, and let it cool s-l-o-w-l-y, the tension of the hard spring may soften (this is “annealing”). IF I overdo the softening, I can heat it cherry-red again and plunge it into water to re-harden it. Simple. No hurry! Maybe I’ll just get used to this stronger spring, and maybe it will also become a little weaker in force as I use it over months and years (yes, the construction of this trimmer is up to lasting years and decades, I’d say). The lock is very positive and easy to employ.Kudos! Again, a great tool, and it’s a bargain.I’ll use this on tomatoes, and other garden plants, for pruning and trimming of tender stems, and leaves.–Joe / Tucson AZ / USAUPDATE: May 29. 2021 >>>—-> I’ve annealed (softened) the spring in the way I mention above, and it’s just right now to my way of feeling and working. Another reviewer mentioned that he “shortened” the spring to reduce its tension, but, no need to cut it if you do the simple annealing of its hardness as I’ve outlined. Thus far, I’ve pruned six or seven cherry-tomato plants, and, oh yes, some of the larger fan-leaves from other plants that are now about 4 weeks into flowering. Excellent action of the pruner, and they are extremely precise. (BTW, laughable account by the reviewer who claims the stainless metal blades dissolved in isopropyl alcohol! Had a good chuckle… ). –JLMp.s. To protect the sharp ends and straightness of the precision-ground blade tips, I use a half of a wine-cork as a protector (you could trim the cork down further to make it more compact). This saves pockets from being punctured and perforated, too. 😉 I’ll include a photo of the cork in place on the pruner tips, here with this edit. “Safety First!” A nice alternative to a cork would be to dip the tips into a can of the liquid “tool-handle” dip coating, like the “Plasti-Dip” which Amazon sells, and let that deposit harden-up until it’s cured in a few hours (the Fiskars trimmer comes with a tip-protector like that). Best wishes trimming. -J.
Dulled quickly. These gardening scissors are a great petite size for my small hands. The other pair I had were a bit too big & I ended up needing to use 2 hands with them a lot. Not with these! They fit comfortable in my hand & are easy to control & lock/unlock with my thumb. My issues with them include- they dulled at the tips/ends after the first week with light to moderate use, which bummed me out. That shouldn’t of happened that fast! The lock/unlock button gets loose quickly & often slips on/off when you’re not wanting it to, but it’s not a deal breaker.
Surprisingly useful. I don’t usually give 5 star ratings, but these have been awesome. I bought them specifically to cut basil, because it was tough to use scissors without accidentally cutting other stems. And they do work perfectly for that – they can get in to the thick area of the basil and cut without accidentally getting more than I want. Even in a very dense cluster, if I’m careful I can usually avoid cutting more than I intend. But these have been helpful even beyond that – they were strong enough to cut off tomato branches that had started to yellow, and their size meant that I was able to cut them right at the joint.I’m quite pleased, especially for the price.
Sharp, easy to use small plant snips. I just received these snips and am happy with my purchase. They were just right for those tiny hard to get to areas for trimming, dead heading, and cleaning up the dry leaves and stems. Since it’s Fall, I anticipate a lot of use in the next few weeks. The price was especially attractive and these surely be a valuable part of my go to yard tools.
Very sharp blades; useful for any cutting task. I find that ordinary scissors are often expensive, the blades become dull very fast, and they don’t fit my hand size. This pair of shears overcomes all of those problems for me. They are wonderfully sharp and inexpensive compared to sewing and embroidery scissors. Such a good deal! I share this idea with all my friends.
pinch. Don’t really know why this happens but the handles tend to pinch my palm when cutting. Have to be careful, just an owie, no blood. I had an old pair just like this and don’t recall this happening.
Nice shears for price. These clippers work well and are easy to use. My only complaint is that occasionally they will pinch your hand because the little lock piece shifts. Not the nicest clippers ever but work well enough for the price.
Great little shears. Cheap, high-enough quality for my needs. Sharp… of course. Really works great for trimming the small plants that I have – making nice clean cuts that heal easily without stressing the plants too much. Good purchase – would buy again.
These things are perfect. The blades are sharp and the shears feel well constructed for the durable plastic they’re made from. Ghe grips are grippy but not too crazy sticky, but I imagine as long as they’re not slick, that’s all that really matters. I really love the ergonomic size and how well they fit in my hand. When buying these I thought they were more for true gardening, i.e., hefty outdoor plants but while they could absolutely be used to trim up larger plants, they are absolutely perfect for my home hydroponic aerogarden system!
Perfect size for smaller hands. I love these petite shears. They made it so easy to clip grapes and cut off my squash from their stems. They are sharp and so useful.

Super Sharp. These little snips are very well designed. I like how the lock/unlock mechanism works. These are some extremely sharp snips, make sure you wear your gloves. Super value for what you get.
Stay Sharp. We used these shears to trim our product and they work great for close work. I would recommend them for anyone needing a clipper to get into small places using the tip and get the larger sticks with the blades, as well. They are sturdy and sharp.
Great for price, work well. These r sharp, feel well made. price i paid was real cheap. work nice, would buy agin 100%. only used so far few weeks. seem trim plants fine. I like the curve. might take second get used to. about right length. can trim fast with spring back open. why I bought instead just using sisers..
Great scissors for making precision cuts. Let me say that I am probably slightly biased, because I LOVE Vivosun products. That said, these are great scissors. I recently purchased another brand of trimming scissors, and returned them because you literally can NOT prevent the sliding locking mechanism from moving during use. With that brand, the mechanism literally slides by ITSELF just by barely moving the tool around. It is a different type of locking mechanism than is used on these Vivosun scissors. It is so lightweight and slides so easily it will NOT stay in place by itself on the other brand.I think just about all of these scissors have the same basic problem, i.e. the lock mechanisms move too readily, but these Vivosun scissors are much better in that department. Not perfect, but close to it. The sliding lock on these scissors will occasionally move during use, preventing a cut from going all the way through. But it is only once in a while and pretty easy to prevent. With the other brand, the tool actually becomes close to useless due to having the lock slide into the closed position by itself very frequently. As far as the shears go, these cutters are GREAT. I had yet another brand of shears, actually Fiskars, (an excellent brand), but ultimately returned those as well, because both of the Fiskars scissors are straight, with no curved pair. Just two pairs of straight scissors. For me, a curved pair is an absolute necessity for making precision cuts. And by the way, I am talking about trimming LIVE PLANTS, not using scissors to trim harvested plants. I am talking about making precise cuts when removing leaves in strategic locations for plant health, air flow and light penetration. Having a sharp, curved, FUNCTIONING pair of scissors is essential to make precise cuts on live plants. And these Vivosun scissors fit the bill.I have four pair of scissors now in total. Two of the pairs are these awesome Vivosun curved scissors, which I use exclusively for defoliating live plants. The other two pair are a decent brand which are used exclusively for trimming harvested plants. I highly, highly recommend that everyone consider doing this. Don’t use the same scissors for trimming live plants that you use for trimming harvested plants, even if you scrape them and give them a good wipe down with alcohol. Have dedicated pairs for each task. Also, I highly recommend wearing gloves, wiping down the gloves with alcohol, and then wiping the scissors down with alcohol between each and every cut made on a live plant. It is worth the extra time it takes to prevent any disease from getting into plant tissue or spreading.I very much recommend these Vivosun scissors for trimming live plants in a precise, efficient manner. And I am sure they would be exceptional for trimming harvested plants as well. If you only have a few plants, one set of these (two pair) are probably enough (one for trimming live plants and one pair for after harvesting). But if you have several, or have lots of houseplants, it might be great to have two sets (four pair); two dedicated pairs for trimming live plants and two dedicated pairs for trimming any harvested plant material.Happy Trimming!
