Price history for Victoria Cast Iron Tortilla Press, Tortilla and Roti Maker, Made in Colombia, 8 Inches
Excellent tortilla press (8″) — heavy & durable cast iron (requires a bit of TLC) + easy to use. This is an excellent tortilla press. I had a heavy, cast aluminum one many years ago and it worked great but somehow ended up getting lost in our many moves and I never replaced it. Over the last year or so, I’ve been looking at various types of presses from different brands. The aluminum ones I have seen are nothing like my original one, so I decided to focus on the wooden and cast iron versions. I have a lot of cast iron cookware and I use it all of the time — I find it incredibly easy to use and very durable. So when this 8″ version became available, I was very interested. I chose this one over the pricer HD version in the same size, and this one is definitely sturdy enough for my use. Some reviews mention a handle that is plastic rather than cast iron, but the press I received is 100% cast iron and very well made. My favorite brand of cast iron (the iconic USA manufacturer) doesn’t make a tortilla press and I have noticed that some imported cast iron cookware is not as heavy and often has unfinished areas and large pores, but this brand is of very high quality. I already have a dutch oven made by Victoria (imported from Colombia) so I was sure this would also be top-notch. And it is. Since it is cast iron, it will need a bit of extra care to prevent rusting so if you are not familiar with seasoning cast iron, be sure to do a bit of research before ordering. The press is heavy, smooth and pre-seasoned and turns out perfect medium-sized corn tortillas (I roll flour tortillas) that are then cooked on a comal/griddle on the stove top. The lettering is very crisply rendered. There is a smaller 6 1/2″ as well as a larger 10″ version, but this 8″ model is just the right size for my family. The hinge pins and especially the cotter pins don’t seem particularly robust, but they are holding up well so far + they can easily be replaced if needed — they are inexpensive and readily available at a hardware store. I think this tortilla press is well worth the modest cost.
A Touch of Mexico in Your Home. Living in Austin, I’ve always longed for the authentic taste and feel of home-made Mexican dishes, especially tortillas. The Victoria 8 Inch Cast Iron Tortilla Press has been a game changer for my kitchen. This isn’t just a kitchen tool; it’s like a bridge to my roots.Homemade Delight: With this tortilla press, I can now effortlessly recreate the tortillas, molotes, memelas, and tlatloyos of my childhood. The taste and texture bring back so many memories of family gatherings back in Mexico.Sturdy and Authentic: The press’s heavy-duty construction and reinforced design guarantee even tortillas every time, reminiscent of those made by the skilled hands of abuelitas in small Mexican towns.Diverse Culinary Adventures: Beyond tortillas, I’ve been able to craft patacones, Rotis, empanadas, quesadillas, and Arepas. Each bite is a reminder of the rich culinary heritage of my homeland.Authenticity Matters: Knowing that the Victoria “Tortilladora” has been made with care in Colombia since 1986 adds an extra layer of authenticity. It feels like a piece of Latin America right here in Texas. To anyone looking to capture the genuine essence of Mexican and Latin American cuisine, I wholeheartedly recommend this press. It’s not just about the food; it’s about the memories, the tradition, and the love infused into each dish. ¡Buen provecho!Reviewed by Aldo
Extremely durable. I have used this for countless corn tortillas. This is a dream to use! SO much easier then trying to flatten out the masa balls any other way. I use parchment or plastic wrap over the masa so it doesn’t stick to anything. We are a gluten free family so we can only use masa.. we roll them in golf ball sizes, put them between the plastic wrap and squish them between the plates and voila, perfect tortilla every time! I would definitely recommend.
A no-brainer. If you eat tortillas on any sort of regular basis, then do yourself a favor and get one of these. They’re built like a tank and will last for generations, so it’s a good investment. We all know that nothing beats fresh and homemade… anything. To get started, I purchased a 4-pound bag of Maseca instant corn masa flour (it’s gluten free!) in my regular grocery store, and all I needed after that was a little bit of water. The bag will set you back about four dollars, and makes about 66 tortillas. It’s highly recommended to use two pieces of heavy duty plastic in between the press itself and the masa mixture as you’re forming your tortillas. I cut up a gallon-sized, ziplock freezer bag in the shape of two 9” circles, and they are perfect. I hand wash them after I’m finished, and store them with my other kitchen “wraps”. Another thing I appreciate is that I can make as few or as many tortillas as I need at the time, so there’s no waste. Any leftover masa can be stored in the freezer or refrigerator until next time.
Works great, I use it for flour tortillas. I was hand rolling flour tortillas and it was taking forever. I was not sure if this would work well for flour tortillas but I have had excellent experiences. I warm it up slightly on the stove before I use it and i put a golf ball sized dough ball between two pieces of parchment paper. It sticks well to the paper, does not shrink back up and I peel the dough off the paper directly into the skillet. Works fantastic! Saves tons of time and this thing is a tank, it will probably out last me.
Easy to use. I love this Tortilla press! It’s easy to assemble, easy to use, easy to clean, sturdy, and produces a uniform product with every press. No need to “over press” because the cast iron press does all the work! This tool can be used with corn, wheat, & yeast doughs. Great for tortillas, and flat breads such as naan or pita bread. My only regret is waiting so long to make this purchase!
This Press Makes Great Tortillas, But Things Got a Little Crumby. As someone who loves homemade tortillas, I was eager to try out the Victoria cast iron tortilla press. With its simple design and sturdy cast iron construction, it seemed like just what I needed to take my tortilla game to the next level. The Good:Creates evenly thick and perfectly round tortillasEasy to use with a simple, designMade of heavy duty cast ironCompact size for easy storageThe Not-So-GoodNeed to use wax paper or plastic to keep the dough from stickingThe handle snapped off unexpectedlyFortunately, when I contacted Victoria, they apologized and are sending me a replacement handle free of charge. Despite the malfunction, the base itself is still in excellent condition and the handle will be easy to replace once we receive it.Overall, I can’t complain too much about a product that makes such deliciously authentic homemade tortillas. Once I get the new handle installed, I’m confident this little press will be a kitchen staple for years to come. In the meantime, I’ll just have to get creative about how to push it down without snapping anything else off!
The Quintessential Kitchen Companion:. The Victoria 8 Inch Cast Iron Tortilla Press is, without a doubt, a kitchen essential for anyone who cherishes authentic homemade tortillas, rotis, and a variety of other flatbreads. Crafted with care and tradition in Colombia, this tortilla press has quickly become a beloved staple in my kitchen, offering a blend of durability, functionality, and timeless design that elevates the culinary experience.First and foremost, the build quality of the Victoria Tortilla Press is exceptional. Made from high-quality cast iron, it feels solid and sturdy, promising years of reliable service. The weight of the cast iron ensures even pressure distribution, resulting in uniformly thin and perfectly shaped tortillas every time. This level of consistency is something that simply cannot be achieved with rolling pins or store-bought options. The 8-inch size of the press is ideal for a variety of uses, from crafting traditional corn and flour tortillas to experimenting with rotis, empanadas, and mini pie shells. This versatility makes it an invaluable tool for anyone looking to explore the vast world of flatbreads and pastries with authenticity and ease. One of the aspects I appreciate most about the Victoria Cast Iron Tortilla Press is its ease of use. The lever mechanism is designed with ergonomics in mind, requiring minimal effort to achieve the perfect press. This user-friendly design ensures that making tortillas is not just a cooking task, but a delightful experience that can be shared with family and friends, regardless of their culinary skill level.Maintenance is surprisingly straightforward for such a robust kitchen tool. The pre-seasoned cast iron surface offers a natural, non-stick quality that improves with use, making cleanup a breeze. A quick wipe with a damp cloth or a rinse under warm water is all it takes to keep the press looking and performing at its best. Or just use ziplocks on both sides of the press, easy breezy clean up.
I believe it’s a product well worth the money. I purchased this press so I could press chicken breasts for homemade chicken jerky. It worked perfectly. My daughter in law has used to make tortillas (imagine that, making tortillas on a tortilla press!) Again, it worked perfectly. Nice and evenly pressed. It is a sturdy construction and so far, I can see no sign of it breaking. I believe it’s a product well worth the money.
Amazing. Got this to make empanadas easier to make. This is EXACTLY what I needed. As a Puerto Rican, I’m excited to use it to make more empanada discs, as well as tostones, tortillas. It feels very durable, and size is perfect for me with empanadas in mind, tostones and tortillas. To avoid dirtying it, as I’m unsure how to clean it properly, I put parchment paper on bottom and top when using it as a barrier then afterwards I give it a wipe with water and wipe dry.Super versatile, great tasting empanada dough came from it and relatively easy to assemble. Took me a second (I think) I got it right! Would love a “how to” assemble video with the listing

Very heavy, but does the job. The Victoria Cast Iron Tortilla Press is a popular choice among home cooks and professional chefs alike. Its sturdy construction and traditional design make it a reliable tool for creating perfect tortillas, rotis, and other flatbreads.Pros:Durable: Made from high-quality cast iron, ensuring longevity.Even Pressure: The design ensures even pressure distribution for consistent results.Easy to Clean: The non-stick surface makes cleaning a breeze.Versatile: Can be used to press a variety of doughs, including empanadas and arepas.Aesthetically Pleasing: The classic design adds a touch of rustic charm to any kitchen.Cons:Heavy: The weight can make it difficult to handle for some users.Requires Seasoning: Like all cast iron cookware, it requires initial seasoning and regular maintenance.Overall, the Victoria Cast Iron Tortilla Press is a worthwhile investment for anyone who loves making fresh tortillas at home. While it may require some initial effort, the rewards of homemade, delicious flatbreads are well worth it.
Very impressed. I was super impressed with the quality of this tortilla press when I received it and now more impressed after using it to make keto tortillas. Last time I had to roll each one with a rolling pin but this press made it so easy. They were uniform also, perfectly round and just looked prettier lol. Plus it cut down the prep time. My hubby looked at me when I first received it wondering what I could be using it for and thinking it was another gadget to take up space. After seeing it in action today he agreed that it was worth buying. The price is very reasonable too. I saw a cheap aluminum one at a local supermarket for much more money. I also will use it to make tostones (plantains). Very sturdy quality – I got the 8” one. Hope it lasts long because I will be using it often.
Perfect tortillas. I was so surprised by the quality of the press. There are a lot of bad reviews, which I don’t understand at all. It’s real cast iron and pre-seasoned. The instructions say to rinse with warm water and wipe dry before using, so that’s exactly what I did. It came with a recipe for tortillas although I did use the recipe on the corn flour that I have and they came out perfectly! It took a few tries to get the hang of pressing them down to the correct thickness, but after that I couldn’t have been more pleased with the results. I read a few reviews that stated that there was a black coating that was peeling off and that the product wouldn’t press the tortillas thin enough. I’m not sure if these buyers received a different product from the one I got, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. I have several pots and pans that are cast iron and have never had any coating peel off. Also, I struggled on the first few tortillas because I was pressing them too thin at first. I don’t give very many products a 5 star review, but this one deserved it and was well worth the money.
