  1. Flawed – Better than other New Similar ONVIF/ RTSP IP Cameras. I empathize with other reviewers who staate “Tapo is Crappo”. This new ONVIF/RTSP camera does not compare to the quality or functionality of the older PTZ cameras which had many options and were easy to view/manage in just about any IP Camera viewer app.For starters, there is no way you can use this camera without installing the Tapo app. Why must you eat up your precious phone memory by installiing a NEW app for every piece of hardware you want to access remotely? Well folks, that seems to be the Brave New World of proprietary products and self-centered corporations manufacturing the products we need. This camera has no setup where you can browse into the camera and change all the settings. Can you assign a static IP? NOPE.Can you assign a custom camera port #? NOPECan you assign preset positions? NOPECan you use an http browser to connect to the camera, adjust settings, and view streaming video? NOPE, NOPE, and NOPEThe mounting options are cheap. In the past you were given a bracket that allowed you to adjust in the vertical and hoizontal planes. This comes with the cheapest mounting bracket that would be possible for the human brain to conceive. Is horizontal adjustment possible? NOPEIs vertical adjustment possible? NOPEYou essentially stick this on any horizonal or surface the way you want it with no possibility to fine turn where the camera is pointing, via bracket. You must “hope” that the PTZ movement of the camera is able to point it where you want to view. If not, then you’re either SOL or you must purchase a camera mounting bracket to give you the movements that should have been included as standard.Given all I say above, you might be surprised to know that my opinion this camera is that it’s not a bad camera and could be consideered better than average, considering the competition.Yes, many would consider this crappo and I’d have to include myself in that crowd, but if you consider the limitations vs. price, then this camera becomes a little less crappo because its’ limations can be managed, especially when you consider that all the newer ONVIF/RTSP cameras that I’ve investigated, many at a MUCH higher price, has the same or worse defects than this camera. So, what were considering is what is the LEAST Crappy camera available?Believe or not, folks, this is probably the Least Crappy camera out there.Your system prerequisite if you want to use a non-Tapo view app to view/operat this camera is that you need to setup Port forwardings of 2020 (internal) and 554 (internal) to the IP Address for EACH C200 camera on your network. Your router must be able to make IP Reservatons for DHCP for the IP of this camera. If not, your IP will keep changing and you’ll continually lose remote access to this camera because setting a statis IP Address in camera setup is impossible. But, if you can setup and IP Reservation on your router and can port forward for EACH camera to 2020 and 554 to each camera then you’re likely okay with this camera.Once this is done, you might be able to view this camera on 3rd party IP Camera viewer app that support ONFIV/RTSP.Because TAPO is an Alexa skill, it’s pretty easy to view this camera on any Alexa Echo SHOW device. I setup a routine (Named for my cat) that will cause Alexa echo Show to view a fixed position stream of my camera. You CANNOT move the camera using Alexa echo Show, but you can view the camera stream from where it’s positioned right now.The Tapo cloud service is worthless, but if you add a 128gb micro SD card, then you can save detected motion to know what’s happening when something moves in front of the camera to trigger recoding. This works pretty well and gives you several minutes of recording time. You cannot just click and download these clips, which is idiotic. But, if you play the clip, then click “Record” you can record the playing clip, then download this recording. It’s convoluted, but better than removing the SD card, placing into PC, and copying over the clip(s).I definitely am not in LOVE with this camera, and if a REAL camera came along that would allow me to view on Alexa echo Show, browse into configure all aspects of the camera, and use on any 3rd party remote view app, then I’d jump ship in a second and buy THAT camera. But… given that ALL these type cameras SUCK, I woudl choose THIS camera because it sucks at a LOWER price. So, if your camera sucks, it’s better to pay less for a sucky camera, if you can.Right now with the state of suck in IP Cameras, I’d recommend this camera as a BUY. I don’t like it much, but it’s better than whatever else you might be able to buy at a reasonable price.Just like when voting for political candidates, sometimes you just have to go with the one that sucks less out of a field of choices that all suck.Good Luck!!

  2. Fulfills the promises, but can sometimes be too sensitive. The features this camera has, and its ability to work with me being able to monitor in real time is great. I have configured mine to send push notifications without it moving or making its alarm sound. The nightvision lights have been covered by some black electrical tape just enough to not disrupt the infrared light needed to capture in night-vision, but not give away its presence. They are very covertly positioned and tuned.Only two issues so far.1. They sometimes need to be rebooted for whatever reason, and sometimes those reboots reset whatever setting they were in. This may not be noticed if you allow it to reboot automatically, and if you’re regularly altering between configurations like home or away modes.2. The sensitivity on the person detection needs to be looked at, as I’m getting an alert every other day or so by one camera that detects a person in an empty room, and the other isn’t.

  3. Excellent as a baby monitor camera and more. Tapo makes inexpensive reliable cameras that can can be used for many different use cases. My use case is as a baby monitor camera. You can read below the pros and cons but if you are in the market for a baby monitor this is the best value/feature/operation camera among the competition. In my setup I pay for Tapo’s cloud service which is inexpensive. I understand that is a preference but my approach is availability and reliability and having the videos stored on the cloud meet both my needs.Pros- Baby crying detection. Works all time and it’s immediate- Person detected and any other detection works reliably- Immediate alerts, literally- Excellent day time video quality- Starlight is nice- Invisible infrared works better with my baby (doesn’t stare at the camera)- Camera rotation is flawless and very handy- Streaming quality- Videos can be downloaded from the cloud- Zones works- Privacy button is very handy- Accepts SD cards- 25fps recording- Wide field of view- Scheduling works as expected- Night vision is through infrared and delivers decent quality. It is not the same as at daytime but it is more than ok and gets the job done. Night vision won’t be High Definition for small objects that are very far, you can see them but details will be difficult to view ( ex. persons expression 10 meters away)- The cloud service is easy to manage, low cost and works as expectedCons- Ok audio quality recording , don’t expect a proper audio recording. All gig pitch noises are picked up clearly though but you want be able to hear clearly a full conversation.- Two way audio could be better. It worksGood to have in the future- Ability to use a new WiFi network without resetting. It can come handy when traveling- Ability to snooze multiple notifications for the same event. Perhaps even different notification groups for different users- Even wider field of view- It is 360 but not a full circle once you reach 180 from each side you have to go all the way to the other side to get 360. Full one side 360 rotation.- Had a 5 minute video limit only when viewing the camera away from home being remotely. I understand why it does that but an option to disable it would be great. When at home it has continuous view.

  4. Clear images on screen! Easy to set up. I used this camera to keep track of my cat when I’m away. I have four of them. They easily connect to the tapo app. Sometimes the back light is too bright, but for the most part, the images are clear and I can zoom in if I need to. It’s great peace of mind when I’m away. It detects motion through the curtains!

  5. Love it. The app was so easy to set up and it’s gives me SOOOOO much piece of mind with the sleeping baby. Forget $100+ baby monitors this is ALL YOU NEED to keep your family safe.

  6. Great quality camera. Fantastic camera especially for the price. This is a great value security/baby/nanny camera. The picture quality is amazing for both daytime and night vision along with volume controlled audio. The Tapo app makes it very easy and convenient to view a live feed, playback previous recordings and control the camera remotely. With just a tap in the app, users can adjust the camera angle 360 degrees horizontally and 114 degrees vertically. The motion detection is extremely precise. The moment motion is detected, a notification is sent immediately to your phone. One of my favorite features is the ability to enter and exit privacy mode from within the app. This allows the user to discontinue camera recording and turn it back on remotely which is helpful for when the camera is not needed. The only drawback I have seen with this camera is that there is a 30 day free trial to their cloud based recording platform. After this trial, users must subscribe to “Tapo Care” otherwise the camera will stop recording. Users can still use an external memory card or view the live feed without this subscription. There are monthly and yearly plans starting at $3.49/month for 1 device which I feel is reasonable. Overall, this is a great quality camera and very affordable. Definitely worth the purchase.

  7. High quality image at a great price. I purchased this so I could see what my dog is doing while I’m out and about. The image quality is superb and even in the dark you can see everything clearly. Set up was easy. The APP interface is great and provides several viewing/alert options. I didn’t use a SD card or sign up for a subscription. Highly recommend.

  8. Great Camera for the Price. I’ve been using the TP-Link Tapo Pan/Tilt Security Camera as a baby monitor, and overall, it’s a fantastic product. The picture quality is clear, both during the day and at night, and the pan/tilt function lets me see the whole room easily. It’s quick and simple to set up through the app, and I love that I can check on my baby from anywhere. The motion detection works well and sends timely notifications, which is a huge plus for peace of mind. I also use it as a pet camera, and it’s been reliable for keeping an eye on my dog during the day.The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is the slight delay in loading the live view at times, but it’s not a huge issue. For the price, it’s a fantastic option with plenty of features that work smoothly. Highly recommend for parents or pet owners looking for a solid, budget-friendly camera!

  11. Great camera. This is a great camera. The app works great – many easily adjustable parameters. Good video quality,Good sound, and an excellent motion sensor. A bargain.

  12. Works so good we have 3 of them. Quality is better than a more expensive one we have. The notifications are great, size is perfect and it was easy to connect. The picture is very very clear and it’s. Great value for the price. We now own 3 of them.

  14. Great little camera. I wanted something inexpensive to help keep an eye on my mischievous puppy. I didn’t expect much from it honestly for the price but I was impressed and surprised with the picture quality & features. It’s user friendly, great video, the app works great and was easy to setup. We have 2 Ring cameras and the video is just as clear and good as they are.

  15. Glad I picked this one. I looked at quite a few security cameras for indoor use; I had originally heard that Wyze were the best, but I was pointed towards these since they’re made by TP-Link, and so far it hasn’t disappointed! The pet detection is likely slightly better for dogs than cats, but overall it works great and I havent had any connection issues. The camera/picture quality is as advertised, which seems rare for cameras these days, the HDR is AMAZING compared to the normal mode I have to say, even if it does warm up the camera a bit. The night vision is great, it’s easily switchable between the unnoticeable 950nm IR and the definitely-noticeable 800nm, which shows as a bright red light, and it tracks anything you want it to, pretty much. As soon as I set it to auto tracking, it was following me around as I moved across its view. It does seem to have an issue noticing my cat as a cat since she’s small, but it does notice her after a bit. The point was more so to make sure she’s undisturbed by people though, and the people-tracking works great along with the audio! If I need another camera, even just for simple monitoring or the other cats, I’ll be getting another of these.

  17. Very nice upgrade. First it’s more compact than I thought and that was a pleasant surprise. The privacy button is super awesome. I have mine set to turn off when I arrive home (by connecting my phone gps signal) but you can just touch The privacy button and turn it off or on and it completely hides the lens which is nice to know no one is ‘hacking’ in or turning them on without your knowledge. Peace of mind. The upgraded features for detection are also super nice. Nice dog bark or cat meow alert and tracking bases on detection type (movement, pet, vehicle etc) also has a boundary crossing feature similar to notification zone. So if your child/pet/person goes across the “threshold” u can get an alert. Lots of possibilities. The viewing area is also an amazing upgrade. Fast tracking. I can hear it moving a bit on tracking mode when house is super quiet. But overall this is a super nice sharp camera.

  18. Top quality security camera. I love these cameras. Ordered one, then ordered two more for other areas in my house. Picture/ video quality is amazing. My daughter is replacing her cameras with these when she saw the quality of the pictures and video. She has also recommended them to her co workers.Very easy to set up. There’s a one second lag time if you activate talk. No big deal – I think that’s how they all are.

  19. Great camera, memory and. Cloud support. Performance is great, video resolution is sharp and detailed. Memory performance internal and cloud works very well. Setting up WiFi was easy and reliable. App set up easy and its functions are easy to use. Also have an outdoor version for my garage.

  20. High quality video, awesome features. I am thoroughly impressed with this camera. The quality is better than the outdoor cameras I’ve purchased for 5 tims the price. Plus the ability to pan and listen in live time is exceptional for the price. The app is super easy to use too. Highly recommended for anyone looking to add a quality phone controlled camera, and cheap enough for skeptics to try out for themselves. 🙂
