Exactly what we needed. Back in the day when all those “Clap on, clap off” commercials were driving everyone crazy, I never imagined I would buy one. Then, after 36 years of marriage, my wife decided she no longer wants the bedroom lamp on when she goes to sleep. She has always gone to bed about two hours ahead of me. The lamp stayed on because the night table with the lamp is on my side. I told her that was fine, but if she got up to turn the lamp off when she was done reading etc. it made it hard for her to get to sleep.I thought on it for a few days. Then I mentioned it to my son when he visited. He looked at me and clapped his hands. I thought he was crazy, but looked on Amazon, and sure enough, they still sell the original “clapper”. I ordered immediately.I am giving this four stars because my wife has not been able to turn it off, yet. I think it is a little too rigid on the required rythm. I mean, one time, I dropped my cell phone and it turned the lamp on. Surely my wife is clapping better than that. It works for me almost everytime I clap. Go figure.
works as designed – great for weak individuals with limited dexterity. I purchased this for my mother who has very poor dexterity due to arthritis. She is able to clap – although a bit weakly so. Nevertheless, she can now control her room light instead of waiting for us to come by and adjust her lighting for her.Some days, as we were working or running errands, she would have to patiently wait for us to turn her lamp on or off. Now she has a little more control.If there was anything that could be changed, I wish I could adjust the sensitivity of the clap sound. At her weakened state, her claps are soft and are not always detected by the device. We moved the clapper up to her night stand and secured it safely to the side by bringing up a heavy duty extension cord through the table, yet out of the way. This makes it physically close to her. So far so good.
Bought for my dad. I bought this for my dad. It’s hard for him to clap at the correct volume so he smacks his tv remote on the wooden table. Lol
great product once you have your rythm right. I installed this to keep my mom from having to get up at night to turn on or off a bedroom light. It takes a little while to get the timing/rythm of the claps right but, once you do, it works great. My 82 year old mother loves it.

They work well. Got my first one 2016. Stopped working this morning. Went right from my bed to my laptop and ordered a new one. Four hours later things are back to normal. Love Amazon.
Light Clapper. Clapper works great, but it is very sensitive to sound.
It aint perfect but it works. See Explanation. It has 3 settings. high , low and away. I don’t know what away is but the low and high mean how sensitivethe clapper is to your claps. On low , I slam my hands together Really Loud and sometimes I have to do this 2 or 3 times. I am strong so it should work once. Hence Low is no good for me.On High, once in a while there will be a loud sound like a book being slammed down on a table and the clapper will turn on or off the lamp. But this is rare. So I have it on High and am happy with it.
Still works like a charm. It’s easy to install plus it still has that clapper charm even to this day.
