  1. Bugs if you have an older Echo. I got one of these for a friend, and it was working great for a week, so I thought I’d pick up a few more.At my house, it set up easily at first, but then it stopped working.I traced part of the problem to the fact that it seems to be pairing with only a single one of my amazon echos — my Echo Show 1st gen. Unfortunately, this Echo Show is flakey and goes down every now and again. When it goes down, this led light bulb stops working. Even though I have several other echos that are supposed to be able to talk to the light bulb, they won’t.That’s not all of the trouble though. When the Echo Show 1st gen comes back on, it doesn’t seem to re-connect to the light bulb right away. Perhaps it would eventually, but it doesn’t reconnect in a couple of minutes. Maybe it won’t ever. This would seem to be a problem not just for flakey Echos, but also for power outages.Another issue is that the light bulb refuses to pair with any other Echo besides my Echo Show 1st gen — even if I reset the light bulb. If the Echo Show 1st gen is unplugged, the light bulb can’t be discovered by Alexa. After connecting the light bulb and then turning off my Echo Show 1st gen, Alexa also seems to temporarily forget the name of the light. It’s still in my list of lights on the Alexa App, but I can no longer ask Alexa to turn it on or off by name. This seems to fix itself in a little while. And of course the light won’t turn on or off from the app when I’ve turned off that one Echo Show 1st gen that it seems to rely on.So I initially decided that this light bulb should be avoided right now — but further experimentation changed my mind. (Amazon support was useless. I had to figure this all out on my own.)Edit: I finally did manage to get a different echo to connect to the bulb via bluetooth. What seemed to do it is (1) unplug the echo you don’t want it to be connected to. (2) reset the bulb by flicking it on and off five times, at which point it blinks three times to verify the reset. (3) unplugging the echo that you want it to connect to, and then plugging it back in to reset that echo. This seems to make it forget that some other echo was connected to the bulb. (4) asking that echo to “find my devices”. (5) plugging the echo that the bulb was originally connected to back in.Additional Edit: after making sure the light bulb was paired via bluetooth to a newer Echo Show 5 instead of my old Echo Show 1st gen, the LED light now works well. If the power goes out to the Echo Show 5, the light bulb stops working while it’s rebooting but then starts working again as soon as the Echo Show 5 is working again. So there won’t be a problem with power outages like when it was paired with the Echo Show 1st gen.I believe the reason many people are having problems with these bulbs is that they have older Echo devices and the bulb doesn’t work well if it becomes paired with an older Echo. So when you first set one of these bulbs up, I recommend you temporarily turn off all your oldest Echo devices so that when you discover the bulb it doesn’t pair with one of them. This is the only way I know to have control over which Echo it pairs with. If you want to know which Echo it actually did pair with, try unplugging an Echo. If it’s the one the bulb is paired with, the bulb will no longer be controllable from any Echo or the Alexa App, until you turn that Echo back on. Although turning the Echo back on may not restore operation. As I said, it does restore operation when paired with my Echo Show 5, but it does not restore operation when paired with my Echo Show 1st gen.I’m raising the review to 3 stars, since it appears now that it can be made to work reliably if you own a newer Echo device and turn older Echo devices off during pairing. I’d give it 5 stars if they actually had instructions and warnings guiding people through these perils.I appreciate that this light bulb doesn’t come with a privacy policy. Many of the other bulbs do, since they can only be set up from an App with a EULA and privacy policy and connections to who-knows-where on the internet.

  2. Alexa integration a but iffy. The following is my original review followed by updates added since the issues I had might have been with the Echo it was paired with. I’ll leave the review since it describes a process that a buyer might experience. When I first got this, setup was a bit of effort. When it didn’t work, I tried looking for help, but ultimately I found that what I was doing should have been correct. Normally, it’s crazy to do the same thing over and over again when it doesn’t work, but in this case, it did get it to work. Now it works, most of the time. There are times that Alexa can’t find it. More often than not, Alexa can get it to do what it’s supposed to, such as turning on or off or adjusting the light level, but about half the time, Alexa does it and tells me that it can’t do it. Since the problem seems to be more related to communication back to Alexa, it means that it’s not as big a problem near the light as it is trying to check it from the Alexa app, or simply wanting to give a command in another room. So checking to see if it was left on, turning it on in advance of going to a room, or trying to turn it off from another room in case it was left on are a bit of a problem.UPDATE: I gave up on the bulb since it was unreliable and ordered a replacement one. The replacement paired right away on the first try and so far is working flawlessly.UPDATE 2: After a few days, it was giving me problems again. I tried to pair it starting fresh, and this time, it paired with an Echo Show one floor below instead of an Echo Dot in the same room (both are latest generation) so it’s possible that the issue is entirely the fault of the Echo Dot. If it does give me problems again, I will give one more update. In the meantime, I will give it the benefit of the doubt and assume that it’s Amazon’s fault.

  3. Thrilled to Meh Update back to Thrilled. UPDATED 6/23. I’m here to eat crow. I have been talking these bulbs down after my initial thrill because they stopped working with Alexa. I did all the research. I did all the trouble shooting and I could not get them to work.. Well, for some reason today, I decided to tighten the bulbs. In both my lamps, and.. they connected with Alexa again. I’m not sure why they became loose. I’m not sure why it caused a problem because they still worked as lightbulbs but, hey, my Alexa connection works again and I am very satisfied with this product.—————When I initially got my Smart device , I purchase two lightbulbs. I was absolutely thrilled with them. It was easy to integrate them, and they were easy peasy (and fun) to use. Now here we are less than two months later, and Alexa no longer is able to control them. I’ve spent a good amount of time troubleshooting. I have deleted them and reinstalled. Alexa recognizes devices, but is not able to turn them on and off. The troubleshooting was a significant and great waste of my precious time. They are just like normal lightbulbs to me now that I am turning on and off the boring old fashioned way. Great sadness. Two months does not seem a reasonable amount of time for the lifespan of these bulbs… and if it is that she clearly outlined in the description. Boo. Thumbs down.

  6. So easy even I had them working. I have tried outlet plugs before. All 5 worked fine for a while. Then some stopped then started a week or so later. Now only one works. Then I bought some and they had to connected to 2.4 wifi, rather than my faster one. I never figured out. I saw these and that they were connected to Alexa I have a smart TV and have Alexa controlling it, I can even watch my Ring cameras on the tv by asking Alexa. Sooo I just screwed one of these bulbs into a lamp. The light blinked twice, my Alexa app showed the new bulb connected. I just typed in the name I wanted, I type in Lamp – I’m so creative. Then I said Alexa turn on light. It works! On, then Off. I tried the next one, in another room, blinked, I named it Lamp on the app. ITV Works fine, too! Go for it!

  7. Love them. I have 5 bulbs through out the house. One is pre-programed to turn on in the evening. Nice soft lighting. And long life span.

Lights. Great brand of Alexa compatible bulbs. I have them all over the house they are connected to my cube and echo. They were easy to set up. Helped to decrease my electric bill and I have had them for over a year now. I highly recommend.

  9. I’m spoiled by these bulbs. I’ve tried a few different bulbs to work with my Alexa but these are the best. Always use Sengled!

  10. Update: doesn’t work well with old echos. I had to return these because they did not work longer than a day with my echo dot 2, but amazon let me keep a bulb when I tried returning it, so when I got the new echo pop, I thought I would give the bulb another shot with the new device and it has been working flawlessly for days now, I expect it to continue. so while I got my money refunded, the least I can do is update my review. With my old echo dot 2, they work for an hour and then disconnect. you have to reset the bulbs and add them back to alexa twice a day. maybe the old device is just worn out, maybe its an older bluetooth standard that doesn’t work as well. idk. but the echo pop connects to it without error for days now. it does seem to disconnect the bluetooth speaker ever so often though, but idk if that is actually the bulb doing that.I now have a cat bowl light for when im away or asleep that also turns on when the motion sensor in my cat box is tripped, so I know my cat is in there

  13. Perfect. This bulb connected easily to my devices and is currently working just as needed. Will probably buy more for other light fixtures now that I know they work.

  14. Worth the money. Was super easy to integrate with my Alexa. Screwed in the 3 bulbs and has alexa discover them. Took all of 30 seconds to set up. Love how alexa can dim them and wake me up in the morning by ramping them up at a certain time. Well worth the price. I bought 3 for the price of some single ones listed.

  15. Old fashioned customer service. I purchased this bulb almost 2 years ago. It was easy to set up. If you have Alexa, you just have to screw it in, turn it on and say Alexa find new devices; and that’s it.The bulb worked perfectly but then suddenly it lost the Bluetooth signal. I tried to reinstall it many times but the signal wouldn’t hold. I emailed Sengled customer service and advised them of my problem. I emailed them a snapshot of my purchase through Amazon. She asked a couple of questions to see if I tried reinstalling it. After that she requested the model number and my mailing address. She then confirmed she mailed out a replacement later that week. It’s rare to get this level of customer service nowadays. Excellent company!

  16. Great product. These bulbs are better than any others I have purchased in the past. They connected with my Alexa device with ease. I would recommend them for sure.

  17. easy connection. easy connection, works as it should

  18. So easy. This bulb is awesome so easy to set up nice brightness love it great for the money I spent

Another customer saved this product for us. These bulbs were kind of a Hassle to install. They stayed connected for a couple of months then just stopped working. We tried trouble shooting and nothing worked. Another customer stated turn on and off your light and it puts it into pairing mode. We tried that and they are working again, after another few months of trying. They are definitely not the best quality but you get what you pay for!

  20. Inexpensive Smart Bulbs. These Smart Bulbs are great. They are easy to setup in your home and get hooked up to your WiFi and Alexa system. There is varying brightness levels in increments of 5% all the way up to 100%.I like this brand, I stumbled upon them by pure chance. I recommend them to anyone wanting to do smart white light in their home.We have one on our porch like that can be programmed in the Alexa app to turn on and off each day with Sunset and Sunrise, adjusting each day as the seasons change.
