  1. Extremely good phone – great battery too. The size is perfect, the cameras are great video stabilization is very good on all 3 lenses. The number one complaint on this phone is battery life. That may be true for others, but my experience is not so.Granted, no social media apps for me, I debloated a lot of the redundant nonsense, connect mostly to 4G abd a little WiFi, my phone runs on dark mode, I don’t disable or optimize anything to grt more battery life such as disabling 120hz for the screen, I use autobrightness and usually view videos at full brightness, I do a lot of photography, video viewing, surfing, navigating, music using bluetooth devices etc. and I easily get more than 24 hours on 1 charge, of which at least 5-6 hours of screen on time. Your mileage may vary, but if you use the phone similarly to me you’ll do fine.

  2. I would give it 5 stars if not for the fingerprint reader. Pros: – Good screen size for my needs. Not too small, not too big, it’s not uncomfortable when in my pocket. – Good camera, although I have not yet tried the night mode – Apps run fast and smooth, no issues so far. – Lots of memoryCons: – Fingerprint reader sucks. This was one of those ideas that seemed cool until you actually have to use it. Since the fingerprint reader is in the screen, there is no tactile feedback to tell you where it actually is. And assuming that you do find it, then there’s the “cover the entire sensor” error when the finger is over the whole placeholder image, or the “press harder” error that pops once in a while, and the “fingerprint does not match” about half the time when it actually reads the fingerprint. About a third of the time I just give up and enter my pin. Frankly, the fingerprint reader on my old S7 was much better. – Speakers are of poor quality for such an expensive phone. Only good for phone calls and nothing more. – No headphone jack. I wish people would stop copying Apple on whatever quirky idea they come up with. I get that the Bluetooth earbuds are the cool (relatively) new way to listen to music, but they all suffer from limited battery life. Corded earbuds last forever or until your dog chews them, whichever comes first. – Adaptive brightness mostly works, but sometimes misses. I have used it in sunlight and sometimes it is not bright enough. On occasion the brightness changes, even though the ambient light does not.Other thoughts: – If you plan to charge it wirelessly, do not get a case with a stand. The thickness added by the stand will not allow the phone to charge.

  4. Amazon Customer July 23, 2022 at 12:00 am

Numerous flaws, some fatal. This is a very long for an Amazon review but given the price of this item I think it is reasonable.1. The display has a PWM frequency of 240Hz. This is extremely low and way below the limit of human perception. Even above 50% brightness I cannot tolerate the display for more than a few minutes without getting eyestrain. At low brightness, the flickering is downright painful. I will probably return the phone because of this. Sony uses 480Hz, Apple is inconsistent but the iPhone 13 uses 600Hz. Yet Samsung still uses 240Hz PWM in 2022.2. Both the power button and volume rockers are incorrectly placed. They get in the way of your thumb’s resting position (right handed). The volume rocker should be on the upper left side, and power button on the upper right side. Apple has been doing this since the original iPhone, and it works. I do not mind having to adjust my grip to use left side volume rockers if it means being able to rest my thumb where I want.3. Android OS – this is appears subjective but really is not. The UI/UX of Android is horrible. Design from one app to another wildly varies, and a lot of things have insane defaults that slowly eat away at your patience. Examples: tapping to undim the display also registers it as a regular touch, or the swipe gestures which barely work. Ironically the best-looking Android apps are the ones that follow Apple’s design principles (not perfect but still better than Google). Samsung’s OneUI doesn’t help either, as it comes with a lot of bloatware and apps that try to one-up Google. A lot of features require a Samsung account, on top of already having to sign in with a Google account. iOS is certainly more restrictive with their walled garden, but at least you get a very consistent experience, and everything is mostly well thought out. Little customization is required to get a good experience on iOS, unlike Android. The layout of the settings app is also very strange. Everything is nested in submenus, and a lot of options are not where you’d expect.4. The cameras are bad, despite what paid reviewers/Samsung claim. This shouldn’t be surprising to anyone familiar with smartphone cameras as we’ve run into the limitations of physics long ago. However, the recent trend in smartphone photography is overprocessing images to the point of them looking like oil paintings, and Samsung is definitely an offender. I prefer photos from my old iPhone 6 Plus because they look much more natural than what the S22 puts out. Also, the software has a tendency to over-brighten every single scene beyond what it actually looks like in real life. If I wanted scene optimizer or night mode, I’d turn them on. Only the brightness in video modes is true to life.5. The speakers are hilariously bad. I’ve confirmed my suspicion and looked at GSMArena’s frequency response measurement and there is practically nothing until 200Hz, meaning the low end is missing. This is unacceptable for a phone of this price range.6. A lot of people already said the battery is not great. However, I was expecting an upgrade over my 6+ as the physical capacity is larger, but this was not the case. The 8 Gen 1 chip is extremely inefficient, and Android/OneUI is extremely bloated.7. No included charger, headphone jack, or SD card slot. Despite having a microSDXC slot, the S20 had a bigger battery while weighing less than the S22. Also, unless you have a computer with type-c or already have a type-c brick, you will not be able to charge your phone after getting it because the cable Samsung provided is type-c on both ends.I hope this review is helpful, and unfortunately there is little choice on the market for a good, well-rounded phone without a ridiculous notch and even higher price tag.Update: I returned the phone – there were just too many annoyances to put up with. I just couldn’t be bothered anymore.

  5. Another great Samsung phone. There are many good in-depth reviews posted here on practically every aspect of the new Samsung Galaxy S22 so I won’t attempt to improve on ground already covered. I’ll just tell you about some of the features that sold me on the new S22 phone. I am coming to the S22 (6.1 inch) from an S20 FE (6.4 inch), a very likeable phone but heavy and a handful to hold. In this regard, I find the smaller size of the S22 and its lighter weight to be much more comfortable in my hand and easier to slip in my pocket. As expected, the S22’s screen is vibrant, sharp, and colorful. The phone’s cameras take excellent photos. The phone’s under-the-screen fingerprint sensor is quick and responsive. I found the initial setup of the S22 to be easy using Samsung’s onboard Switch software to copy the settings and data from my older S20 FE. Checking for updates I found an update to Android 13 and UI 5 waiting for me. Awesome! My only real worry about the S22 were the many reviews reporting poorer than expected battery life. Alarmingly, I also found the S22’s DAY ONE battery life to be pretty disappointing. But before getting all upset over it, I got busy digging into the phone’s many menu options and found a number of adjustments to improve the phone’s battery life. In addition, I discovered that Samsung has incorporated a new AI battery learning feature into the S22 lineup of phones to help improve battery life based on how an individual uses their phone. Cool. The good news, after a fresh charge and after making power saving adjustments, my phone’s battery life has improved dramatically. Hooray! Currently, I’m experimenting with leaving my S22 on power saver mode to see what impact it has on its functionality vs battery life. So far, I haven’t noticed any performance downside by leaving the phone on power save but it has yielded a huge improvement in battery life. In fact, with light usage, texting and checking the news and weather, the phone’s battery monitor reports my battery at 64% after 2 DAYS of service and is predicting I still have 1 DAY and 14 HOURS left. Fantastic! Overall, the S22 checked all the boxes for the features I was looking for in a new phone; smaller size, making it easier to handle, vivid and responsive screen, improved cameras, strong flagship build quality and good looks, extremely good battery life , and it came with an immediate upgrade to Android 13. What’s not to like? The people I don’t recommend this phone to would be those who stream a lot of movies or who like to play graphics intensive games or just want a GIANT phone. Those folks would be better served by the larger and more expensive S22 + or Ultra phones that come equipped with higher capacity batteries. That’s all folks!

  7. Awful battery and sound. Samsung needs to step it up with batteries. I only use my phone to text, check email and clock in and out for work. After 8 hours I’m down to 40%. Can’t imagine how fast I would have to charge it if I used it for games or media. Sound is terrible. I’ve adjusted every setting I can find and it still isn’t as loud as my s7 edge was. Hate that the power and volume controls are all the same side. No notification light on lock screen. I use textra as texting app and haven’t been able to customize my notifications. The fixes that my s7 got don’t seem to be there on this phone. Also don’t like that I can’t customize my folders with colors. The bubbles blend into the background and make the icons hard to see. Camera is goid but I don’t buy a phone fir its camera. I may have to try a different brand in the future

  9. Good product. Good product but bad seller. I ordered a NEW Samsung galaxy s22 for my son’s BIRTHDAY. I received an open box and looks like used. After that I waited almost 2 months to get my money back. Very sad.

Solid phone but battery life could had been better. I have been using the phone for some time; it came unlocked as described. The speakers and earpiece are loud and clear enough. The screen quality and brightness are very decent, but extended periods of time with higher brightness levels (or gaming sessions), can easily heat this phone. I dont use 5G, but even with 4G/LTE, the battery life is not that impressive. Still a solid phone though.

Love ❤️ this. Works very well. Images are so sharp. Been using it for days now and no complaint, except for the fact it didn’t come with a charger, that was disappointing. Luckily, the charger for my previous phone works with it. Not cool guys, bring back phones that have their charger with them . Would have given this 5+ stars with took a star off because no charger.

  24. 10 Galaxies outta 10)))))))))). Cellphones have come a long way. This S22 is phenomenal.I never did care for the iPhone restrictions, and have alwaysliked the freedom that Android brings. I record all my own musicand other entertainment, and Android makes that easier.I have Samsung TVs, tablets, watches, phones, and everythingmeshes perfectly together. I can watch Samsung’s TV channelson my phone, and there are a lot of stations. My faves are Protennis, news, and Pickleball. All the apps work perfectly on the s22.It has been glitch free. What is the best feature of the S22, the camera of course. It is saidto be better than the iPhone, and I have seen some tests, buthonestly I cannot tell from the way these people run tests. If you aretaking pictures of food, a jigsaw puzzle, vacation landscape shots, facialphotos, the quality is excellent, and the best cellphones offer. WTS, it is noton par with a picture I can take with my Canon cameras. BUT, doingrestaurant or bar pics, food, jigsaw puzzles, faces, the quality is amazing.I would need to do a lot of work with a real camera to get the qualitythat the S22 pumps out on some of these types of photos. It is alsonice that you can take a pic and email it right there. Texting photos, don’t do it.The quality sucks when texted. There isn’t enough megabytes in the networksto text photos that look good. I also have Adobe Lightroom on the phone forvery good editing on the run. Most of the photos that you take with a Samsungneed no editing, unless you are shooting into the sun or in challenging light. The pictures are generally perfect the first time. I’ve taken some spring photosof trees and flowers lately in sunny conditions and they are perfect, BAM. Thecamera has other tricks up its sleeve, lots of them, and more than you probablywill ever use. It has PRO MODE, and I generally need it for challenging light scenes.BUT, the normal mode still always beat PRO MODE hands down. Supposedly, there is astar shoot setting for this camera, which I haven’t tried yet. Also, another UBER feature of thecamera, also not tried yet, is a 100Megapixel photo setting. My Canon cameras only offer ameasly 24 or 26 MPs, but yes, that does not equate or compare properly, in reality. There are many other features, but I will mention two others, hyperlapse, and expert RAWphotos for better processing.Video on this phone is ridiculously awesome, and better than even the great stillcamera. I have done quite a few terribly lit racquetball matches, and they simply lookprofessional in 4k. I put these videos on my 4k TV and the phone video did even a morespectacular job of making the dingy court brighten up and sparkle with light that didn’teven exist before. The players movements were spot on too. The video is top notch.I have a small plastic mount for it that holds the phone, and can be tripod’d or set on a table. The video is what beats my Canon cameras video. They will only do HD at 60fps. I have aslo-mo video I did of a small dam where water is going thru multiple chutes, and have thatas my lockscreen, and I show that off to people all the time, looks way cool. There are two versions of slo-mo video too.The slo-mo feature even has a normal speed which then switches to super slo, awesome. The last camera feature that I think a lot of people will use and like a lot, Panorama mode.I have had Panorama ability on several cell phones, and they always were hit and miss. Ihave yet to miss with the S22. The Panoramas are stunning. I did some at Mount Lassenand everyone turned out perfect. Fool proof. The tech is top notch on this feature.I’m going to stop now, and may add something later if I think of it.My Samsung Note 8 had a burned in screen and instead of fixing it for $300, I parlayedthat into a new S22 on Amazon. What a difference. I use the phone on this phone lessthan almost all the other features. I needed a phone for a trip after I cancelledthe services on the Note8, got the S22, and this is definitely the best phone out there.
