  1. My big boys are healthier and happier on less calories. Update 1/22/21: Don’t go into panic mode like I did. I reordered this cat food from the same seller and thought the wrong product was shipped. The “gold and black” bags currently shipped are the same product and ingredients with new packaging. Whew!Let me preface this by saying that I have always owned smaller female cats (not by choice, it’s just the way things worked out). My new cats are a bonded pair of Toms considered ‘big boys’. One cat is described as a ‘big boy’ at 20 lbs for weigh, while the other is at 17 lbs and they are NOT fat! They are also older cats estimated to be 10 years+ which means they are less active and any new weight they put on will stay on.In a nutshell, I wanted to be pro-active and transition to a lower calorie reasonably priced food before things got out of hand and any medical conditions could develop (obesity, diabetes etc). In the months leading up to my choice I have tried other regular dry foods and weight management foods with emphasis on kcal counts. Yes, cat foods have cat calories listed as kcals on the label. Anyway, Purina Pro Plan Focus Weight Management is a winner! Both my boys love it at 320 kcal/cup which is an improvement over their old food at 460 kcal/cup. The big PLUS is this food is actually healthier, contains probiotics, no additives/preservatives, comes in more than one size bag (am so tired of buying small bags-love 12.5 lbs!) and it comes in their favorite poultry flavor (my cats refuse to eat seafood or beef). The boys now share 3/4 cup per day in addition to their cans of Fancy Feast. It’s been a little over a month since they started using Pro Plan Focus and they are much more active in the mornings and at night. They also appear healthier and happier on less calories! Would I recommend this food? Yes!

PLEASE READ THIS FOR YOU WILL NEED THIS KNOWLEDGE: MIRALAX is also needed for her. My cat wife is so constipated that I also have to give her a 1/2 teaspoon of MiraLAX mixed in with a little of wet cat food, and she is about 16 pounds which is why it has to be a 1/2 teaspoon of MiraLax that I buy at the grocery store under the instructions of my professional Veterinarian, and the rhythm is that on the day of a good bowel movement I pass up giving her the MiraLAX, and on the very next day I give a 1/2 of a teaspoon of MiraLAX each day until another good and again and on that day I pass up the treatment only to follow the next days with the MiraLAX until the day of a good bowel movement and again I pass up the MiraLAX only on that day; however, it does seem to work better of a 1/4 of MiraLAX in the morning and a 1/4 of MiraLAX in the evening, but that means that I need more wet cat food; therefore, I just do 1/2 of a teaspoon once with a little of wet cat food, and the rest of the time she gets this dry cat food mixed in with the dry cat food for Urinary problems that occurred with her constipation that also had her throwing up all the time as well, and when I stay on the rhythm of the MiraLAX all of the problems disappeared meaning that there is no constipation and no urinary problems and no throwing up all of the time. I wish that I was wealthy enough to create a dry cat food with MiraLAX mixed in and it makes me wonder why someone like Purina has not already done this because it would solve so many problems for cat lovers and their overall health where good bowel movements are definitely required.

  4. Wish I had switched to this earlier. My 6 year old spayed indoor cat is quite lazy and refuses to eat anything but dry kibble. She gained a few pounds above her ideal weight, so 2 years ago, her vet switched her from her usual Purina Indoor Cat Chow to Hills Prescription Diet Metabolic Weight Management. She was on this very expensive prescription food for about 18 months. In this period, she gained another lb despite having a strictly metered automatic feeder schedule. I ran into difficulty getting the prescription food this fall, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and switch her food to Purina Pro Plan Weight Management. I read a lot of reviews before I decided to switch & really appreciated all of the insight from others. I was able to slowly make the switch per recommendations on the packaging. In just 3 months, I have noticed a drastic improvement in my cat’s coat condition. She didn’t have her usual silky sheen and seemed to shed a lot more. I thought it was just because she was getting older, but her coat definitely looks and feels so much better now. She seems to be more sated with this kibble, and doesn’t beg for more food like she did on the Hill’s diet. I have also noticed that she does not appear to be quite as heavy and is starting to lean out a bit. She won’t tolerate being weighed at home, so I will have to wait a few months until her next checkup to see how she is doing. Her energy level is good and she seems to be thriving. I wish that I had switched her food sooner! I got a discount by choosing auto ship and I appreciated getting an email reminder before it was time for my second order was to ship so that I could make some changes to the shipping frequency. It is so convenient to have it delivered.

  7. My cats love it. I had originally purchased this to help with my cat overcome being overweight. She did lose a pound or two since we switched it over, but really plateaued. She hasn’t gained or lost any more weight since being on it. My other cat (who is at the ideal weight for a cat) sneaks this food, lol.

  8. My 17-year-old tomcat seems to like this pricy dry food. Archy has eaten cheap Purina Cat Chow most of his life, but in his old age, I decided to upgrade his menu and spring for this high-end dry food. He loves it! H eats a cup’s worth every day, supplemented by nothing else except fresh water.

  9. Kitties love it. This is my kitties favorite. High quality, better tasting and less expensive than the prescription diets

  10. Prebiotic in food. Good food for cats . But very expensive.

  11. Cats love this. My one cat is overweight because she loves to eat. This food us no exception. Seems to be made if quality ingredients from what I can tell.

  12. Keep Your Cat Happy and Healthy with Purina Pro Plan Weight Control Dry Cat Food. Purina Pro Plan Weight Control Dry Cat Food has been a game-changer for my feline friend. Additionally, knowing that it’s crafted by Purina, a trusted name in pet nutrition, gives me peace of mind that my cat is getting the best care possible. I highly recommend this food to any cat owner looking to support their pet’s weight control journey without sacrificing flavor or quality.
