Directions | Puppies start to nibble solid foods at 3 - 4 weeks of age. Keep moistened Pro Plan available at all times. Allow your puppy to eat at will until fully weaned (6 - 8 weeks). After weaning, Pro Plan can be fed moistened or dry. For best results, develop a regular feeding schedule such as three small meals a day for younger puppies. You can gradually reduce to one feeding in the morning and one in the evening as your puppy ages. The routine should not vary. As puppies near adulthood, their calorie needs may drop, and your puppy may begin leaving some food in the bowl. Don’t misinterpret this as an indication of dislike for the food. Instead, begin offering less so your puppy doesn’t overeat and stays in ideal body condition. Nestlé Purina Research indicates that avoiding overfeeding of puppies may help their development. Maintaining ideal body condition is key to encouraging proper growth in all puppies, especially large breeds. The indicated amounts are only a guideline. If your puppy becomes overweight, a reduction of your puppy’s daily food intake may be appropriate. You may wish to consult your veterinarian about a weight control program. FEEDING FOR REPRODUCTION Pro Plan provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation. Food consumption may vary during gestation, so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female’s ideal body condition. Food intake may double or even quadruple during lactation. MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLAN Although you’ll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from your dog’s current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you’re feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. Contains a source of live (viable) naturally occurring microorganisms. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet’s health, see your veterinarian regularly. |

Working great. Every few months I have to purchase this from amazon to tide me over until my monthly Purina for Professionals order can come. I put my 9 week old Borzoi puppy on this as soon as I got him and he’s done great. Due to his size/growth and to try and reduce risk of bloat, he is now 1 year old, 82 lbs, and gets fed about 6 times a day with 1.25 cups of dry and 1/4 – 1/2 can of the wet food version. He is doing well on it and will be on puppy food until at least 14 months perhaps until 2 years, it all depends on his growth/metabolism. Adult borzoi eat less but for most, higher calorie food to allow for the smallest volume possible is ideal to help try and prevent bloat in deep chested dogs. Please note, as a veterinarian, I get asked about bloat a lot even though it’s a bit less prevalent than it was 10-20 years ago. As of right now, the ONLY predisposing factor we have confirmed is genetics- if a parent or direct sibling bloats, there is a much higher likelihood of a particular dog suffering a similar occurrence. Feeding elevated and preventing activity DO NOT reduce the risk of bloat! A recent study took dogs and fed them large meals and then crated some of the dogs and turned the others out to exercise freely. Those that were not crated had a smaller occurrence of bloat. So we clearly don’t have all the answers but it makes sense not to allow them to put an enormous amount of food and water in their stomach all at once.Since bloat is serious and can quickly turn into GDV which is deadly within hours, prompt emergency attention if there is excessive salivation, enlarged abdomen, vomiting/diarrhea etc is imperative! As far as how much to feed, the guidelines on any bag of food are a broad recommendation only! Be comfortable assessing your pet’s body condition score and remember growing puppies need increasing amounts of food weekly and eat to meet caloric requirements.

Switched from Purina one to pro plan but difference is minimal. Only higher protein for weight gain. I Switched from Purina one to pro plan but difference is minimal. Only higher protein for weight gain. I still have entice her to eat with fresh eggs and a scoop of can mixed in. I thought she’d prefer the better stuff to gain weight bc the protein is higher and supposedly the quality is too. I can’t afford human grade fresh dog food nor can i afford this stuff. So i would love to try to give more but it’s only 3.5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ +/- ⭐️ For me
Great value for a high quality dog food. My 125 LB Newfoundland has been eating this for 6 months. It was one of two foods that our breeder recommended to us. I notice our dog itched less when she ate this food than the other brand. I really like that they sell a 47 LB bag which is really needed for a giant breed dog. My only criticism would be that the kibble is a little small and I wish the bag was resealable.
Dog food. Bella loves it.
Overall Great Dog Food. It is the only food our dog will eat, it is a little more on the expensive side so it is nice that I can subscribe & save.
Picky dog’s pick. I have a poodle and this is the only thing we’d eat after trying the whole range of dog food. should I say more? 😂 was recommended by some random customer at a pet store and I wish I could have thank him!

My Rottie puppy really likes it. It is always consistent and my pup loves it.
My Pup Enjoys It. My dog is a bit of a picky eater. I had him on another food touted for being great quality and better than the big brands. It gave him terrible tummy troubles. I switched him over to Proplan and he has put on more weight where he was a bit under and his tummy troubles have gone away. Stick with what’s tested and known to be good.

Vet recommended. I have used a couple other, more expensive large/giant breed dog foods; however, the WSU Vet Hospital recommended I change from these “boutique” foods to a researched based dog food such as purina. Though this isn’t a giant breed food I cannot afford or easily find a giant breed, vet recommended food. My Danes do well with this food and have been on it for a while. The one irritating thing ordering this through Amazon is they ship with USPS, who where I live won’t deliver as it’s “too heavy”…. so I have to go to the USPS store, wait forever on my lunch break and pick it up.then. USPS marks it as delivered. I now just order through Petsmart, same price as Amazon and it comes to my door.
My dog loves it. My dog loves this dog food and I trust Purina Pro Plan for both of my dogs. It’s a high quality dog food at a reasonable price.
Price. Save at least $5.00 or more through Amazon than other online or in store purchase. This brand is recommended by my veterinarian and it helps my puppy put on weight and nutrition.
Great for a growing large breed puppy. He loves it
Huge bag of dog food. This bag weighs 38 pounds which we were not expecting, but the driver was a real champ and left it on our front porch. Our puppy weighs eighty pounds.
Awesome. This is all our beautiful dog will eat.

Great coat and solid stools. Ive fed my dogs Diamond Naturals for years and have always been pleased but my current boxer had loose stools which I’ve never seen with Diamond Naturals so I’ve been trying different brands. This has been the cure for her. Very pleased.

Great Food for My Huskies – Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy Food. I’ve been using Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Dry Puppy Food for a while now, and my Huskies absolutely love it! The Chicken and Rice Formula is perfect for keeping her energized, and they can’t get enough of it.One thing I’ve noticed is that it helps keep their stool firm. No more dealing with runny stool, which is a huge plus! It’s great to see a brand that not only keeps my dog’s digestive system happy but also supports overall health. The 34 lb. bag on Amazon is a real steal. In stores, the same size is way more expensive, so this is definitely the best value. Plus, my dogs have shiny coats and don’t have that “doggy” smell, which is a big win!The kibble size is also perfect for large breeds like my Husky – not too big, not too small. It’s a great all-around choice for anyone with a growing puppy, and I highly recommend it!
