Pros/Cons. 15% carbs dry matter basis & that’s about average for wet dog food. That means this can contains basically only 15% plant material & rest is meat, vitamins & minerals & h2o. It doesn’t have the dreaded thickener carrageenan that causes inflammation & is potentially cancerous. Most budget dog foods do use it. It DOES have wheat gluten & soy flour but with just about any gravy you’re gonna see a starch or flour. It’s almost always better to purchase a Pate type dog food over ANY gravy because to make gravy you’ll need those thickeners & with those come extra unnecessary carbs. Add warm h2o or broth & make your own gravy. Remember that wheat gluten is super concentrated protein but not animal protein & most agree animal protein is easier to digest & higher quality. Dogs are omnivorous like us so not as concerning to see it here as opposed to it being in any cat food. Cats are total carnivores & should not be eating plants aka starches grains wheat potatoes corn etc. I’m comfortable with wheat gluten in dog food fed occasionally.I purchased this gravy food on accident because I didn’t read the advertisement well. I mentioned I usually feed pate. Will I feed this to my dogs? I absolutely will. It’s mostly a meat based food with average carbs. Will I buy it again? No, there are canned foods available even from Purina without wheat gluten, soy flour & caragenon (misspelled).Everyone looks for different things when choosing a dog food. As a vet tech working with my brother a veterinarian we choose foods without grains, starches, corn, wheat gluten potatoes or vegetables. It’s not extremely easy to find foods without all of those but search for the best with the least. You’ll definitely find many with only one grain or starch like potato. Even better make sure that grain or potatoe is further down the ingredient list. The further down the less of it is in the food. Definitely stay away from carrageenan. Its a horrible thickener that fed over time may cause problems & you’ll end up with a vet bill.Wet food is absolutely always best over kibble. Kibble= carbs obesity & diabetes There are a few exceptions. Wysong Epigen for dogs is basically starch free & available on Amazon @ a reasonable price.Dehydrated food is basically the gold star right now especially moistened after homemade or raw. After that it’s almost always safe to say wet food is 2nd best.Do your research & try out dogfoodadvisor.com. A world renowned dog food review website & easy to use while shopping. My dogs absolutely love this food & especially the gravy that must taste really good since they bark & go mad crazy over the can when I pull it out. They don’t usually get gravy so a real treat! Easy to open can. I always seem to end up with a dent or two but If you’ll take 3 mins to use the automated help feature on here Amazon always makes it up to me…they go above & beyond. For example say only 2 or 3 cans are dented. They always insist on full refund or sending out a whole new case. Amazing customer service!! 4 stars based on ingredients & 5 based on how my dogs love it with no digestive issues. Btw, smells like a human stew. No fishy smell. My wife even allows it in microwave whereas I have to heat the cats food using hot water. If my review is helpful please let me know or click 👍! Good luck.

  3. DELIVERY CARRIER DAMAGED ANOTHER PACKAGE. Product is great and good buy. Always shipped promptly. Tow of my last 5 orders have been damaged in shipping. One so badly damaged they didn’t even deliver it. Can’t return canned dog food that was slimed all over the box because it wasn’t the seller’s fault. I hope Amazon gets it together about holding the delivery companies more accountable. There isn’t really any excuse for the amount of damage being done. It was boxed appropriately and had to endure extreme abuse to sustain the damage it had. Thank you to the Seller! I appreciate you!!

  4. My dog likes this. What I like about this Purina One dog food Is it a doesn’t have any grains, it has 11 % protein, and it’s not full of gravy like some other brands are. My dog likes beef flavor and the salmon is good for him also. Unfortunately it has some chicken in it, but then do most. I’m a senior, and it’s an affordable price for me! I feed him wet in the morning , and then give him a piece of raw carrot and some fresh green beans. I let him graze on the kibble the rest of the day if he gets hungry. I really am thankful that this is a reasonable price. I hope they keep it!

  5. Happy dog, happy home. Last spring, my elder pup had to have some teeth extracted. Afterward, we were told she needed to be on a mostly wet food diet for about a week. We use the dried variety of this same brand, so it seemed only natural to try the canned. For the first time ever, this dog thought she was being treated better than royalty. She got excited over her food and, to this day, still gets excited when we even touch one of the cans. We’re back to a 1/2 dried, 1/2 canned mix, but it’s really all about the canned.

Makes for a happy, healthy and trim dog. Even though my dog is a pedigree Havanese, he was born with an under-slung jaw that made it difficult for him to eat dry food especially when his baby teeth fell out leaving spaces between teeth. At seven months I started him on the Lamb and Brown Rice formula primarily due to the opportunity to control his weight. He will be a year old in two weeks and has maintained his weight a a perfect level, become muscular beyond expectations and the only drawback is rapid nail growth possibly due to the biotin in the formula. Amazon’s price is spot on with majors and I don’t have to haul the case home on the complex’s shuttle bus.

  7. My dog LOVES this dog food. After my dog turned his nose up to a new dry dog food that arrived with the Purina One, I wasn’t sure how he’d react to the new brand of canned dog food but I shouldn’t have worried, as soon as I opened the can he was sitting in front of his bowl with his eyes on me. As soon as I served it he gobbled it up! We’ve always used a major brand of dog food but he’d never reacted so excitedly to his canned food before. As it’s also less expensive than our old brand I believe we’ve discovered a winner!

Dog loves it. My dog had dental surgery and I bought this to get him through his first week of recovery. He loves it, but the serving size says you should feed a dog his size (55lbs) 3 cans a day, so it is too expensive to switch over from his dry food for long term feedings.

  9. pretty good. pretty good overall. dogs gobbled up the turkey & venison mixed with some kibbles up like they where starving!! guess they love it and i like that its a bit cheaper than their beyond wild. wish the turkey flavor didn’t have chicken in it though since we can;t give it to our third dog.. will buy again for the other two.update: the chicken version gave our 5mth old pup diarrhea both times we fed it to him.. Turkey one did not.

  10. Dog lives this food. This is the third dog I’ve feed with Purina dog foods and all have lived long healthy lives.
