Purina ONE Plus Healthy Weight High-Protein Dog Food Dry Formula – 31.1 lb. Bag

9/10 times this stuff rocks. My pupper is getting up there on the age front and with age related decreased activity and coworkers succumbing to her adorable puppy dog eyes at lunch time, she was verging on a chunky monkey. We tried a vet recommended low fat/weight loss brand and it was pricey, but she’s totally worth it. She ate it for a little while and then for about a week she wouldn’t touch it unless I hand fed it to her, and then only reluctantly, and she is the opposite of a picky eater. So I looked around, read the reviews and decided to give this a try. It’s fantastic! She loves it and is back to gobbling up the whole bowl before I even put it down. She’s also lost all the weight she needed to and is completely back to her perfect healthy weight. She’s never had any tummy troubles, and doesn’t have those crazy monster poops that happen with foods that are all filler.So, I wanted to get all that out there first, because I did get a bad bag, ONCE, out of many orders (that’s why I only put 4 stars, but I’d rather be able to put like 4.5). I didn’t notice anything wrong when I opened the bag, and she was eating it happily. I keep her food in a sealed metal canister that I clean out every time I get a new bag. About a week after filling the canister with the new bag, I opened it for breakfast and there was a lovely little larva having the time of it’s life and munching on my baby’s kibbles. Needless to say, I screamed, scared the crap out of my pup, and probably the larva, and slammed the lid back on. We had homemade noms and I put in an order for a new bag. As I said, this food is great, and I don’t hold the bug against the company cause honestly, bugs love dog food, thus why I got the sealed canister. Stuff happens, NBD. And I was too lazy to try to get a refund or anything so that’s all on me, and I’d never had a problem before, or since. Also it was a moth larva, and those suckers get into everything, so if I blame anyone, I blame the moth parents for not raising their larva right, letting it steal a poor pupper’s noms. Just rude.

Dog loves this food, has helped keep weight ideal and she is healthy and happy. Recently I went to Petco to buy another bag of this. The sales associate said Petco stores had stopped carrying it because “it has some artificial ingredients and we as a company decided not to carry anything with artificial ingredients.” Frankly, I think this is hogwash – it is an excuse for Petco to carry all over-priced “premium” brands, taking advantage of pet owners’ love for their dogs. This Purina formula food was recommended by my dog’s VET, so I would take my vet’s word over Petco’s marketing department. Not all of us can afford the so-called “premium foods.” In the past I tried Blue Buffalo and a couple of other brands – Blue Buffalo gave my dog diarrhea, and I have heard that from other owners and from the vet, that some dogs cannot tolerate it. My dog is a pit bull, she is made of iron, so it takes a lot to upset her stomach. So the “premium” brands are not for all dogs anyway. My dog has been on this Purina formula food for about a year and doing brilliantly, and I can afford it.

Excellent for Older Dogs. This is the only dry food that my dog can eat and not get diarrhea. He got quite tubby in the last year, but this – and longer walks, less people food, and fewer treats – helped my dog lose about five pounds in a healthy, slow way. Our veterinarian has been very pleased with the results so far. It’s a bit pricey, but actually a better price than our Target store, which carries the same brand. On Amazon I save about $5, which isn’t a lot but it can add up. My dog went from 50lbs to 45lbs in about two months on this food. Very happy with it and so is he.

Great! Less kcals. My dog loves this food, and has lost 2 lbs! Other types of this brand have too many kcals, ( like calories in dog food ) and that does not help an overweight dog. This has less, and we have her on a lower kcal treat. She loves those, too. This food has helped another dog we had, lose 10 lbs. We take this dog to the park about every day, and that helps, too. Make sure to give your doggies what they need, and they will be happy!

Not Enough Fat Content For Skin & Coat. My dog eats anything he is given. So, flavor or scent are not a factor. The reason I buy this is the success I had using it for previous dogs. My current dog is a complete couch potato. Works for me, but causes him to gain wait easily. Unfortunately, the reduced fat seems to adversely affect his shin & coat. He has dry skin and sheds like crazy! I have resorted to buying the same brand, for Skin and Coat, and mixing or switching with this. I am a fan of Purina One, since all of my dogs have seemed to thrive, despite it being a dry kibble, now no longer popular as a result of “fresh” and “designer” alternatives, which are much more expensive. I opt to “share” fruits and veggies every day with my dog to supplement his food and as an alternative to high calorie dog treats.

My fur babies like it more than dog food that costs twice as much. I’ve tried so many different dog foods for my “boys” but they love this one the most. I think it’s the chunks of dry turkey that’s in the food. One complaint for a bit was that they cut way back on these chunks and made it much more straight kibble. Not sure what happened. With that said, the last few times the turkey’s been plentiful and my boys are happy.

Quality Product. Purina One Healthy Weight has been so good for our dog. We switched him to this food during the pandemic. He’s went from 34lbs to 25lbs and the vet is so pleased with this! He is more active and lively now than he was 5 years ago! Also, setting up the subscribe and ship eliminates us from having to carry the large bags from the grocery store!

My dog loves it. I like this because it’s cost effective, and my dog loves it.

Dogs love it. The lower calorie dog food is exactly what I needed for my couch potatoes. Good quality food packed with nutrition, keeps my dogs fur shiny and healthy.
