9/10 times this stuff rocks. My pupper is getting up there on the age front and with age related decreased activity and coworkers succumbing to her adorable puppy dog eyes at lunch time, she was verging on a chunky monkey. We tried a vet recommended low fat/weight loss brand and it was pricey, but she’s totally worth it. She ate it for a little while and then for about a week she wouldn’t touch it unless I hand fed it to her, and then only reluctantly, and she is the opposite of a picky eater. So I looked around, read the reviews and decided to give this a try. It’s fantastic! She loves it and is back to gobbling up the whole bowl before I even put it down. She’s also lost all the weight she needed to and is completely back to her perfect healthy weight. She’s never had any tummy troubles, and doesn’t have those crazy monster poops that happen with foods that are all filler.So, I wanted to get all that out there first, because I did get a bad bag, ONCE, out of many orders (that’s why I only put 4 stars, but I’d rather be able to put like 4.5). I didn’t notice anything wrong when I opened the bag, and she was eating it happily. I keep her food in a sealed metal canister that I clean out every time I get a new bag. About a week after filling the canister with the new bag, I opened it for breakfast and there was a lovely little larva having the time of it’s life and munching on my baby’s kibbles. Needless to say, I screamed, scared the crap out of my pup, and probably the larva, and slammed the lid back on. We had homemade noms and I put in an order for a new bag. As I said, this food is great, and I don’t hold the bug against the company cause honestly, bugs love dog food, thus why I got the sealed canister. Stuff happens, NBD. And I was too lazy to try to get a refund or anything so that’s all on me, and I’d never had a problem before, or since. Also it was a moth larva, and those suckers get into everything, so if I blame anyone, I blame the moth parents for not raising their larva right, letting it steal a poor pupper’s noms. Just rude.
My pup is so much healthier. So I was kind of a bad dog mom and my dog’s weight got a little out of control. She was 6 years old, 25 pounds overweight, and starting to have some slight mobility issues. After starting this food on a vet-recommended schedule of a 3/4 cup measuring cup full twice a day, limiting treats to crunchy veggies, and a little longer walks, she has lost 20 pounds in 2 months and is feeling and moving much better. She eats this stuff eagerly and has since day one. She looks much better, and is much more playful, and her coat and skin are in good shape, too. We might add a feeding after she reaches her goal and keep up on the exercise. I am happy to see my best friend doing so much better, and would recommend this to anyone looking for a goo,d budget-friendly weight loss food.
Excellent for Older Dogs. This is the only dry food that my dog can eat and not get diarrhea. He got quite tubby in the last year, but this – and longer walks, less people food, and fewer treats – helped my dog lose about five pounds in a healthy, slow way. Our veterinarian has been very pleased with the results so far. It’s a bit pricey, but actually a better price than our Target store, which carries the same brand. On Amazon I save about $5, which isn’t a lot but it can add up. My dog went from 50lbs to 45lbs in about two months on this food. Very happy with it and so is he.
Great for picky small dogs. I have tried many dog foods over the last 5 years and could not find anything my little girl would eat.Purina ONE Plus Healthy Weight High-Protein Dog Food Dry Formula is the only one she will eat. I wish I had found this earlier.
Great! Less kcals. My dog loves this food, and has lost 2 lbs! Other types of this brand have too many kcals, ( like calories in dog food ) and that does not help an overweight dog. This has less, and we have her on a lower kcal treat. She loves those, too. This food has helped another dog we had, lose 10 lbs. We take this dog to the park about every day, and that helps, too. Make sure to give your doggies what they need, and they will be happy!
Good dog food. Transitioned from the Purina ONE puppy to this. The dog came with the Purina ONE puppy food from the rescue so we stuck with it. Vet had no problem with this brand and the price point is good. No problem with the transition and he is happy and healthy. Best part is I don’t have to haul the big bag home from the store. Sorry Amazon delivery person.
My fur babies like it more than dog food that costs twice as much. I’ve tried so many different dog foods for my “boys” but they love this one the most. I think it’s the chunks of dry turkey that’s in the food. One complaint for a bit was that they cut way back on these chunks and made it much more straight kibble. Not sure what happened. With that said, the last few times the turkey’s been plentiful and my boys are happy.
Quality Product. Purina One Healthy Weight has been so good for our dog. We switched him to this food during the pandemic. He’s went from 34lbs to 25lbs and the vet is so pleased with this! He is more active and lively now than he was 5 years ago! Also, setting up the subscribe and ship eliminates us from having to carry the large bags from the grocery store!
My dog loves it. I like this because it’s cost effective, and my dog loves it.
Food my Gidget Love’s. Feeding my four legged best friend Gidget food that is healthy for her is a top priority for me. Gidget love’s the taste and it’s healthy for her. Great quality ingredients and an excellent value for the money.
