It’s good quality cat food that passed the cat challenge. This is a much higher quality cat food than I first expected, and importantly, it does not have any of those weird newer ingredients like yucca, tomatoes and cranberries. Why, just why, would you give your cat cranberries? My cat won’t have anything to do with those trendy brands that do this, like Wellness and Instinct. And yet, I want to feed her a high quality food that is grain free. Well, here you go! She likes it!Actually, my career is in biology, and after going over the label and nutritional content I am very impressed with this food. Purina . . . who knew?Edit: Actually, after doing some research, I believe I know why companies have started using cranberries in cat food, and it is silly. Cranberries are known to have compounds that in huge qualities (much greater quantities than you could get a cat to eat) will treat and prevent urinary tract infections. Cats frequently have issues with urinary tract health. However, the reason for this is not that they lack cranberries, but that they lack WATER. Cats originated as a desert species and are naturally intended to get their water primarily from the food that they eat, but kibble–which makes up a large a portion of the diet of many domestic cats–contains no water.Cats that are fed dry food DO often want to drink water (as their owners frequently protest), but the fact is, they still don’t drink quite enough to counteract the dryness of their diet, and tend to develop urinary tract issues as a result. The answer here is obviously not to feed cranberries, but to give food that contains more WATER.If you don’ t believe me, try feeding your cat mostly canned food with just a tablespoon of kibble at night for dental health. Your cat will likely all but stop drinking extra water, but have better hydration and urinary tract health.

The cats and I love it. I just tried this cat food with my kits. I have ordered other cat food that’s been much pricier, such as Tiki and Weruva. Some of those foods made them sick (especially seafood), some foods they’ve loved and scarfed down. But they scarf down this cat food, it’s good for them, and it’s inexpensive. I give them a bit of dry cat food (Nulo) on top and they’re happy kitties.

Pretty Clean Ingredients – Low Carb – Cat Loves It. My cat’s veterinarian doctor has put my cat on a very low carb diet due to his age and diabetes. I used an online calculator to evaluate the macro nutrients of this cat food and it was very good in that regard. It’s main ingredients is short and clean. There does seem to be a lot of phosphate type ingredients along the minerals section which I learned from veterinarian experts is not good for cat kidneys so I’ll be spacing this one out to about once or twice a week so as to not overload with phosphates. My cat loves it and licks his bowl clean when he’s done (a sign of respect in the cat culinary world). I have been checking the expiration dates on cat food that I order online as I recently had some orders of 6 cases of cat food that were expiring only a month out. This particular lot doesn’t expire until September of 2025 which is 11 months out from the time of this review, so I won’t be giving my cat expired food.

My new go to Pate for cats. I switched my cats over from the Petco brand and they seem to like Purina One pate more, and don’t throw up as easily from it either for sensitive stomachs.
