It’s Cat Food, and My Cats Love It. Some reviewer of this product went into languid detail about the regulations for how much meat has to be in cat food depending on the wording on the label. He was pointing out that some wording means that only a small fraction of the food has to contain actual meat-strongly implying that we are all being ripped off. This on a product that is costing around 75 cents for two or three servings.I have seen these kinds of reviews before. Yep. I would bet dollars to donuts that guy works for a competitor of Friskies and was paid to put out that review. Who else would be totally conversant in the FDA regulations for the advertisement of cat food? I’ve seen this so many times on Amazon. My favorite was the review of the Vita-Mix. Some guy starts talking about the engineering of the blades and speed ratios and saying that the Vita Mix is a rip-off. Well it isn’t, but who would know that stuff? Someone who works for Cuisinart, or Kitchenaid is my guess. If it had lots of real meat in it, it would be the same cost as OUR food. If it had lots of meat in it and it was super cheap, then it might contain horrible quality meat. Here’s the thing. Whatever is in this Friskies meal, my cats LOVE it. They beg for it, and when I put it down, they eat like there is no tomorrow. And they are extremely healthy active beautiful kitties. What that other reviewer is NOT telling you is that cats are ANIMAL EATERS, not MEAT EATERS. I put down raw beef, or raw chicken, or raw fish, and they mostly turn their noses up and won’t eat it. Well, they do eventually finish off the fish, but only if ALL of the Friskies is already consumed.Being animal eaters means that cats mostly consume the contents of other animal’s guts. That means half digested plants, nuts, seeds, and yes, insects and small animals, too. That is what cats were evolved to eat. People who think cats love steak and muscles have been watching too many cartoons. They will literally starve to death if all they are given is meat. And these cat food companies that sell lamb and duck, etc., and overcharge are also banking on the fact that people labor under this misunderstanding. There are NO STUDIES that indicate that cats are better off with grain-free products. None. So they are trying to play off the “grain free” trend in dog food. Except that cats are not dogs, so what’s good for a dog is not necessarily good for a cat. That means that what human’s consider to be “meat” is almost inedible to cats. Nothing you can buy in the store for a human resembles what they eat in the wild. I’ve seen a healthy tabby consume an entire mocking bird, including most of the feathers. They do not eat like us.I have tried out some of these new cat foods with lots of meat in them, chicken, lamb, beef, duck, etc. Those foods are definitely unique. They are just about as expensive as MY food, and my cats won’t eat them either, even though they have lots of “actual” meat. I think they are full of actual baloney.Who are these companies? What is their track record? Purina and Friskies have been feeding our cats for decades. They have a track record. They formulate the foods according to most accepted veterinary standards for nutrition. Yes they have plants in them. So do mouse guts. Yes they have grain. So do mouse guts. There is no reason to be looney about the vegetable ingredients, unless you truly ignorant of the diet of wild feline carnivores. Finally, my kitties don’t like some Friskies flavors. They love the beef. They like the chicken, turkey, giblets, etc. They really don’t like any food that doesn’t have gravy, and they don’t much like the Friskies (or anyone elses) seafood entrees. So I give them what they like. Why not? I love them to death but they are not human children. They are animals de compagnie. If they are happy, I am happy. You can check my reviews, I don’t work for Friskies or Purina or any cat food company, I have no conflict of interests. I am just sick of dishonest people.
Great cat food. My 2 cats [one is 5 and the other is 10] enjoy this food a lot. I used to buy a more expensive meal for them then decided to try this instead. $25 every other day is very costly and I was looking to buy food that is not so expensive. I decided to take a chance and buy this food. I was hoping that they liked it because they are very picky when it comes down to it. Im glad that I made this choice. My cats loved it! I’m so glad that they do, because it is much cheaper than the brand that I was using. This is a great choice of cat food for them!
My cat seem to love this food. I have tried very expensive cat foods, and maybe because my cats were rescues, I have been unable to transition them to more expensive foods. So this is the kind of food. I’ve been feeding them for the last year. They love it and eat every bit of it with no waist. I would rather give them the liver and chicken version but usually I’m unable to get it.
Cats love it. Bought this package for our cats and they love the pate it’s mushy like ground beef would be. Have tried the shreds and they don’t seem to like them they just drink the juice and leave the shreds that’s when we switched them to the pate now no waste.
Makes cats will eat it. Well, my cats will eat it!A few years ago the wet cat foot company’s went through some kind off decline. Since then, my cat Just back away from almost every kind I buy. Tried of spending hundreds of dollars on food they will not eat I am now just looking for ones they will. This product seems to be agreeable.
Best Wet Cat Food Around. I have been feeding this friskies pate cat food to my cat for more than half of his life, some 7 years or so. He eats a mix of wet and dry food at morning and at night, and it is clear he prefers the wet food part of the diet. When the morning alarm goes off, there he is. When I arrive home from work, there he is. During his many years of feasting on Friskies Pate, I am ashamed to admit there have been a few evenings that I forgot it was all gone, so he had to get double dry food. Those were the worst days of his cat life. Also, Amazon has this available for a great price too. I used to buy it at a local grocery store, but around 2020 they started having shortages and only had some non Friskies junk (the cat could tell the difference and was visibly mad when it was fed to him), and these days they do sell it again but it’s way overpriced.I can’t comment on the flavor but the cat enjoys them all. When possible I like to get him a nice mix, like this one.Anyway, the picture is of my cat. He eats it too fast to get a pic of him eating and buries his face in the bowl. He eats this food as if he is a part of a cat community that has to fight over scraps, while in reality there are no other cats here. I do have a pet door to the back for him, and I suspect he sits out back while I’m gone during the day and converses with the other neighborhood cats about this feline fine dining that is Friskies Pate.
Good product. I like the price and quality. My cats eat it all.
Good price but dents. Ive been buying these packs frequently. Love the variety and price is decent but this is the second time I’ve received dented cans. I first time they were so bad the contents leaked out and made a mess. Not sure where the dents happen but not happy that 1/4 of the cans were dented in this last shipment.
variety of flavors. My feline friend is quite the picky eater, but the Purina Friskies Variety Pack has been a game-changer. The salmon, turkey, and grill flavors are absolute hits. The portion sizes are just right for a satisfying meal, and the texture is smooth and appealing.
Economically priced cat food and good variety of flavors. I have been ordering Purina for years – my cats love each flavor and funnily enough, so do my dogs! In fact my dogs prefer it to their own food so I used it for them whenever I have to administer any medication to them. Economically priced too.
