Short life – Only worked for 7 months. 6/7/18 Update: I changed my review back to five stars! The manufacturer emailed me about the problem and immediately sent a replacement collar for the one that was not working, along with some valuable advice. The collar is back on my dog and training is continuing. The training device is excellent. I use the vibrate button as a signal during training and sometimes the beep, and have only used the “shock” button a couple of times in emergency situations (after, of course, training my dog on what the signal means. There are lots of videos online on how to train with an e-collar and I highly recommend watching a couple before starting training). I have a young smart working dog who is always looking for a job to do. He has so much energy and drive I found it difficult to impossible to get his attention and focus before I started using the collar. The PetSpy training collar allows me to get Freddy’s attention immediately and remotely. At that point, training is easy. But to be honest, I haven’t done much training yet – I have mostly focused on getting his attention and getting control and a reliable recall. My dog has gone from totally out of control to a still energetic but fully under control dog 98% of the time. Friends and family have all remarked about the huge change in Freddy since I started using the collar. I have close to a 100% head snap when I call and a rapid recall from anywhere on my 2 acre property – even without using the remote and without being in sight. He has stopped digging up the property hunting for gophers and stops with a “no” on the few times he starts. What is interesting is Freddy is much calmer in general now that he knows what I want him to do – the consistent and quick signal from the e-collar allows him to relax because he knows I’m in charge, he doesn’t have to be. Now I’m going to start formal and advanced training and it will be easy. Thanks to the training collar.Hold off on my review below. I am asking the manufacturer for a replacement under their 1 year warranty. I’ll let you know the upshot.Thanks, SueThe collar worked great at first, although it didn’t seem to have the range reported, However, it stopped working 7 months after I purchased it. All the lights seem to be working, showing the unit was charged and ready but it no longer produced a “tone” and neither the vibrate or shock function worked at all. At this point it is worthless. I am going to try to contact the manufacturer to see if they will fix it since it wasn’t sold as a disposable item. I will let you know if they make good on their product. Very disappointed because it was a wonderful training tool while it worked!
Broken Just After 30 Days, and Now I Can’t Return Item. EDITED:You can read my original review below. But I wanted to revise my rating. I originally gave them 2 stars, but have changed it to 4. After reading my review, PetSpy sent me a completely new collar at no cost. The new one is working well, and I haven’t had any issues. The only reason I am only giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I did have the issue below, and think in the spirit of honesty, it would be wrong to say my experience was perfect.ORIGINAL:I honestly thought I had hit the jackpot with these collars. We have 2 airedale terriers, and we needed two collars that we could control with one remote. It was great! We have been training our dogs not to bark and it was going well. Until this week, when we found one of the buttons on one of the collars had been depressed into the body of the collar (see photos). I tried using tweezers to get the button back into position, but it’s like it’s permanently depressed. We purchased on May 1st, and the return period ended on May 31st. Now I’ve missed the window, and I’ve spent nearly $100 on something that has a horrible return policy. Bummer.
Expected them to work longer. For the money you spend, you’d expect them to last over a year. I was training puppies and they did very well on the collars, still do. At four years old they don’t need the signal any more, just putting them on is enough. But only two out of three options still work and both collars lost one out of three choices, not the same one. The first one still works and that’s why I’m still using them. It would be nice to have the vibrating one still, and occasionally a quick shock to prevent a run into the street would be valuable but it’s gone.
A good training aid as long as the training stays positive. The beep sound works great to teach behaviors that the dog gets rewarded for. My 7 month old German Shepherd puppy responds well when she gets a treat after responding to the beep. When she does put me on “ignore” because she is investigating something really interesting to her, I haven’t had any luck with the vibration…might just be her, and it might work well on other dogs. I have used the shock when she grabs my older Kelpie’s neck or collar because she thinks it’s a game to drag her around. I don’t use a very high setting, and she does respond by letting her go…then she stands back and barks at her. Working on giving her a beep signal and then a treat to stop. Pretty pleased with the product overall, although I would prefer a snap closure on the collar instead of the buckle.
Best collar I’ve purchased. As someone who grew up training hunting dogs, I’ve always been around some of the best dog training products, especially collars. This collar blew my mind! I have maybe used the 3rd button 2 times total on my two dogs in the past 6 months and it was to keep them out of a dangerous situation with another dog. They both respond to the tone and the vibrate with ease. It is incredibly simple to use and took me maybe 2 days to train both dogs on them. I have a standard poodle who is incredibly smart and head strong and a very sweet but very dumb pit mix and it was super easy for both of them to learn it. They especially love the freedom they have with collars and are excited when I bring them out. I cannot recommend a product more than this one! Incredible peace of mind.
3 years of use. We have 2 of these set ups. We have used both in and out of water, snow, other dogs, etc. This usage is with a male Rottweiler. We usually have the setting on 8 out of 18 levels. He’s a very good dog, but is stubborn at times and very strong. He does not like the vibrate, and comes to attention quickly. A beep usually gets his attention. It makes walking a big dog much more manageable. I am honestly very surprised that they have held up. Nothing but praise for this set up. Awesome, and thank you very much to Pet Spy.
So happy with this purchase. Great purchase for our new puppies. They are very big boys. I purchased to teach them their boundaries and keep them safe from harm. They were quick learners and I Have never used the “shock” option at all! They come to the “beep” tone. So pleased that they are USA made also. I have already recommended to family members who are wanting to add fur babies to the family but are worried about training a new pup! Great find!
Terrible Battery Life. Having purchased the PetSpy P620 Collar about a month ago, I must express my considerable dissatisfaction due to its severely limited longevity and unreliable performance.Let me start with the positives. Out of the box, setting up this collar is relatively easy. It comes with directions, different length nodes depending on your dogs fur length, a node tester, and remote and charger. The remote is nice and small, with easy to use buttons.Now the negatives. Initially, I was impressed by its design and promising features with high hopes of it being a reliable tool to ensure the training and well-being of my pup. However, the real experience was a far cry from the expectations set by the product’s advertisement.The most glaring flaw was the collar’s battery life, which dies at an alarmingly rapid rate (within 2 days), requiring frequent recharges and leaving me anxious about my pet’s safety during our outdoor training sessions or adventures. This relentless cycle of charging rendered the device essentially impractical and drastically lowered its utility. I also realize that I may have just received a faulty device, however I do have higher expectations for a $70 device, twice the amount of a collar I’ve purchased before with little to worry. Additionally, the vibration on the device is not strong enough for my dog to feel.Moreover, this constant unreliability of the collar compromises not only the convenience but also the safety and harmony within the owner-pet relationship. A device intended to train and assist should not become a source of distress and disappointment.In conclusion, the collar fails to deliver on reliability, durability, and advanced functionality. Its rapid battery depletion and questionable durability make it a product I cannot recommend. Prospective buyers should consider exploring alternative options that ensure both peace of mind and the well-being of their furry friends. I hope they can improve this, only then will it be worth spending $70, otherwise, go buy a $30 e-collar.
Good dog collar. This collar works wonderfully. It allows me to walk my dog without a leash. The collar is very easy to use and has plenty of options of adjustment depending on the size of your dog. I have ordered a couple of these collars. 10/10 recommend
Multiple modes to fit your training needs. The collar works very well. It will fit any sized dog. I like the vibrate, sound feature. Really gets the dog’s attention without the shocking.
Works well. Love all the options. Haven’t had to use the shock button at all. My dog responds well to just the beeps. Wish battery in collar lasted a little longer before needing to charge, other than that, great product.
Works Well. The best part of this product is that my dog responded really well to just the beep and we only had to shock him once on a lower level. I didn’t want to resort to this but am happy we did- he no longer goes in the yard looking for someone/thing to bark at and it’s so much more peaceful at our house
BEST DOG COLLARS EVER. We have been loyal customers of this brand for as long as we’ve had my oldest doberman who is 7 now! These collars are not only very effective but they are very easy to use! They have a clip attachment you can apply on the back of the remote so you can hook it on your back pocket, waist band, wherever! They have a pretty good range as well so if your dog takes off, you can rely on these to reach your dog within 500 yards I have personally tested. Another aspect I REALLY appreciate about this brand is that they offer you the ability to buy replacement collars and remotes separately if you ever lose or break them! Cannot tell you how many times we have had to from losing them! Control is on point, weight is light, appearance is very basic and sound quality is great as well. Cannot emphasize enough how much we love this product! There are three modes and depending on your dogs personality or drive, they learn very quickly what behaviors are not ok. One of mine I still need to use the shock option on, and one of them will listen just using the tone and vibration buttons. The shock has a range of 1-16 also. My boyfriend tried out the max on his own hand and said it does have a grip of power so proceed with caution on that!
Perfect collar. This is the second one we have purchased, only because the last one was lost or possibly thrown away by accident. It works great and definitely helps with obedience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a dependable collar.
Works very well. Was skeptical, but this collar actually works with my very strong stubborn breed. I needed this a long time ago. If it had a LED flashlight on the remote it would be perfect, but it still gets five stars for being a miracle device. Worth the $.
