When You Need a Chlorhexidine Dog Shampoo This Will Rock Your World. Amazing difference in one shampoo. We use this product regularly now and while the consistency can be a little runnier than we’d like, the shampoo itself has been a godsend – our 3 dogs have never been cleaner or more beautiful. Their skin and fur looks better/healthier now even though none of them looked bad or had uncommon issues. This product actually helps the folds on our English Bulldog’s face get clean (cleaner) and helps remove the staining. The way their fur shines and stays/feels amazing for longer periods of time after using this shampoo is remarkable. We love the scent even though some might not, it is fruity and bubblegum-y and fun without being repulsive. Have already ordered another bottle – heck I’d buy it in a 64 ounce jug if they sold it that way. Wish we’d found this shampoo years ago, and works well on a variety of coat types too – we have a Lab, English Bulldog and Bernedoodle. Bonus – if your dogs (or puppies) ever get Giardia, a chlorhexidine shampoo can help eliminate the cysts from the dog’s fur. I can’t believe more vets/groomers/pet product stores don’t recommend this stuff, happy to have found it on Amazon.
Save your doubt for other products. Plain and simple this is the best shampoo you can get for your dog for your cat if you got a goat if you got a horse I have two pitbulls one had severe skin problems the other one kept getting contact dermatitis and I couldn’t figure out what to do I cleaned the entire house I used multiple different products recommended by vets nothing was working on them after one single use my little one with the most problems had instant results Behavior change and mood my big boy used to hate taking baths not only do they look great they feel soft are super shiny smell wonderful no more contact dermatitis no more skin problems and if that wasn’t enough I’ve been using it on a rack to help clean my little boys ears and it’s even healed his ear problems I’ve tried other brands I’ve tried other products with different types of treatments only this one and only this one worked to say I’m satisfied with the results is an understatement I rarely get out five stars but you deserve it if you’re skeptical trust me spend the money see for yourself you will not be disappointed
Black Lab Hair Loss/Constant Itch- A+ Combined with Vet Care. My dog was itchy for about 3 weeks. First 2 weeks I was giving her Benadryl (vet approved) and doing oatmeal and dawn soap baths every other day. Using cortisone and topical .15% Ketoconazole I had gotten at the vet as an ear wash (directions listed topical use too so I knew it was ok). She kept getting worse when she should have improved, so I ordered this shampoo and scheduled a vet visit. Started this shampoo every other day while waiting the 5 more days for our appointment. She got a little less itchy, but still bad. Vet said her condition could have improved if I had started the shampoo before the secondary skin infection set in, but it would never clear up now without antibiotics. Treatment was a does of NexGuard (just in case it was mites/mange) injection of Cytopoint to stop the itching, and 30 days antibiotics. I took everything I had been using with us to the vet, and she said that even though she wasn’t familiar with this brand, they sold one with the same active ingredients she was going to recommend, but since I already had this one to continue with every other day baths and the topical ketoconazole on non bath days. Vet also said that given the length of time dog had been itchy, she was expecting dog to be in much worse condition than she actually was, so the baths were working, my dog was just too far gone for baths alone to heal her.Short Version- if you can start this shampoo (bathe every other day) immediately at the first signs of itch, it could prevent a secondary skin infection that sets in if dog has scratched enough to break their skin. You know infection has started if you see any pink/red/raw spots from scratching and you will most likely smell it. It’s a very distinct bitter smell I can only describe as a combo of feet, onions and black tar.
Pet Honesty. My pup likes to roll on our lawn occasionally and with the extremely dry weather in the Pacific Northwest this summer our grass is far from green. He has rolled only a few times and the dryness has irritated his skin and possibly something may have stung him also. The Pet Honesty shampoo came very quickly. The day it came we tried it out. I noticed it didn’t foam a lot but I followed the directions and went very slowly starting with the long ears, head, front legs, belly and then back legs , tail. I did his face with a washcloth. After waiting the required minutes deep rinsing began thoroughly. We use a dryer for baths. The results were great. He’s an English Cocker with beautiful long fine hair on the ears, legs, sides. His hair was silky and clean. We’ll do another bath this week and assess the skin irritation again. It was better the first time but I want it GONE!I’m glad I found it!
I def think it’s better than the Douxo S3 Pyo Shampoo. Ever since they changed the Douxo Chlorhexidine shampoo to that S3 PYO…I have been so bummed, they went from squeeze to a pump.. who the hell has time to pump shampoo for a 100 pound dog, who trying to get away from a bath! The smell wasn’t that great coconut smell, the effect on my dogs skin was not the same, not soft, but more greasy, even the texture and lather was crap!…WELL.. you gotta love Amazon and the reviewers! So thanks all! I was sold on this! I really really like this shampoo..the smell, smells a little melony, the lather, squeeze not pump, same oz for the price and the RESULTS! My dog has stayed shiny, not smelly and I feel like less itchy! Even a few days later I complimented him how much I loved this new shampoo! Hahah His coat was really still soft! And he smelled not so doggy! I 100% will buy this again..Def reccommend!
Works surprisingly well. I expected it to alleviate my dog’s itching and I’m not sure it’s sorted the problem entirely (he’s due for another check up lol) but it’s definitely reduced how much he itches.I have a dog that is sweet, but old that an ex friend dumped on me because she couldn’t deal with the dog anymore and here I am stuck with this Great Pyrenees that my kids fell in love with and I was so mad at her for dumping this gross, half dead dog on me and my family… And to make matters worse, the dog had some type of skin condition that she said was fine and under control- welp it wasn’t and whatever it was my 1yr old work dog/family pet puppy caught it.🤬I had been looking for ways to help my dog feel better cuz his skin and fur were starting to get crusty.This shampoo is REALLY GOOD!I am impressed. I FINALLY got the gross GP in the bath. He weighs over 100lbs and shakes uncontrollably whenever I try to bathe him. I FINALLY bathed him with this stuff and his crusty gross scabs just started coming off in my hands as I was washing him and nothing got that stuff off before.As a matter of fact, I gave up washing him because he was gross and freaked out every time I tried to bathe him, but he was just too smelly so I HAD To!I can’t believe how much it’s made a difference. He’s not going on his hot spots as much now which is great. It smells decent. It leaves their coat like shockingly soft & sparkly. My dogs are white/tan merle and it’s hard to get them to look not dirty. Cuz the merle color is so similar to what fur looks like when it’s dirty -Anyway- in conclusion, I’m not sure it’s THE BEST anti itch shampoo, but it is fantastic for healing their funky skin stuff!
Great gentle shampoo. This formula was gentle with a very light settle fragrance. Seems to work well. I only used 1 time so far. Made my two shepherd dogs coats soft and shiny. Will continue to use to see if it will completely stop my one dogs skin issues.
Great shampoo for itchy smelly dog. After using a shampoo from the vet for the past three years for my itchy and smelly dog, I decided to try the Pet Honesty brand that contained the same active ingredient chlorhexidine. The shampoo arrived quickly, and in a good sized bottle for the price compared to the brand from the veterinarian’s office. It smelled nice, and lathered well. It rinses clean, smells clean, and relieved my dog from the yeasty foul smell and itchy skin inflammation from her allergy condition. She actually seemed to get better relief from this brand than prescription shampoo that I previously used on her. It doesn’t leave behind perfume scent, it just results in an odorless dog. You’ll need a scented detangling or brushing spray to use during or after drying if you really want additional fragrance. I will definitely keep using this and I recommend it for washing away the doggy odor, and for helping itchy, inflamed skin and paws.
It actually works. I have two English bulldogs and if you know anything about the breed you know they come with skin and coat issues. I have tried everything from diet to allergy medicine and nothing has stopped the constant itching and hair loss. I have used this two times in a week and omg what a difference it has made! No more scratching and rolling on the floor barking! My babies are finally getting comfortable and some of their has already started to grow back. I do hate that I have to let it sit for 10 minutes as my girls get cold sitting in the shower wet but it is what it is because they are so much more comfortable after the bath.
Really helped my dog. I bought this shampoo because my vet didn’t have the shampoo I normally buy (which costs more than $40). Let me tell you, this really helped with my dogs skin irritation and foul odor just as good if not better than the one I bought at the vet’s office! It has a very pleasant smell and seems to work for several days before I need to bathe her again. I would definitely buy this again!

Best shampoo for my dogs. I bought this because my dogs had itching issues. I gave them a bath today and they didn’t roll or scratch or flip out after I bathed them. They reacted very positive to the bath. This has never happened before. The shampoo smells like candy to me. I absolutely love it! They are so soft and smell so amazing. Professional Groomer. I cannot recommend this product enough as a professional dog groomer. It is outstanding and affordable medicated shampoo and works just as well as any vet’s prescribed shampoo for half the price of local practices. My clients love the smell as well as the noticeable improvement in the dogs’ coats. Whether it’s just dry and itchy skin or a severe fungal, yeast, or bacterial skin infection, this shampoo will works it’s wonders. It has a great lather and works well on any coat.
