dog likes them. I’m switching my dog over to the Natural Balance duck and potato kibble, since she has a sensitive stomach and seems not to be able to tolerate chicken and grain (which are in SO MANY dog foods and treats these days, even premium brands). She likes the Natural Balance jerky bars, but I wanted some hard cookies too. I was happy to find that Natural Balance makes these cookies, which don’t contain any of my dog’s allergy triggers. (If your dog has allergies, you should visit the company’s website to check for the most up-to-date list of ingredients prior to purchase.)My dog is an 8-month-old Rottweiler; she’s not fully grown yet, but will be in another couple of months. My last Rottie got a little too fat from eating whole treats, so in the interest of avoiding giving too many calories, I usually break these into smaller pieces before giving them to my dog. Giving the broken pieces has the same effect as giving a whole treat (in my case), but with fewer calories.If you give whole treats, these are a suitable size for medium-to-large breed dogs. If, like me, you only give partial treats, each one can easily be broken into 2 or 3 pieces.The treats are easy to break by hand without being too crumbly. The dog likes them, as well (which is probably the most important thing, anyway).I don’t notice a strong smell, although they must have some odor because my cats try to get into the drawer where I keep these. The treats come in a resealable package. All in all, I’m pleased with the purchase and I would buy these again.
Great for dogs w/Allergies. First I need to say our Golden has had “allergy eyes” since he was young (he’s 7 now) and after being neutered and losing his older brother within a month last year, he went from his healthy weight of 95lbs to 120lbs! He has always “free-fed” (social eater, never over ate) but was pretty inactive/depressed.Although, at first I didn’t think the Natural Balance Limited Ingredient food was the highest quality (via dogfoodadvisor dot com website), but because of multiple allergy issues (what we thought were mostly seasonal type, not food related) on the advice of our Vet we switched our Golden Retriever over to the Sweet Potato & Fish formula AND reduced his portion to only 1 cup per day. He also said NO OTHER TREATS unless it was a few pieces of the same dog food. The idea was to limit his food to only the specific ingredients!So, I was thrilled to find the same limited ingredient food offered in a treat! Between Aug. 2013 – Jan 2014 I’ve ordered 4 bags. Each bag has contained high quality treats that always smell extremely fresh. In fact, that is a quality I truly respect about both the food and the treats… both have such a strong (but not bad!) scent you can tell it’s fresh and high quality. There have been one or two broken or partial biscuits but no hollow ones as some have described. The only anomonly was one bag arrived with teeny-tiny little bones (about 1/4″ x 1/2″ vs the others that are about 1″ x 2″). The total oz was the same so I shrugged it off & the next order that arrived were the standard size. Not sure what that was about and when I checked my order and the website I couldn’t find any explanation. The dog didn’t mind and just got 3 nibbles instead of one, lol.Great value!
Good for dogs with food allergies. I wanted to get something good for my dogs that wasn’t loaded with fillers and by-products. I noticed that these were a better deal on here than they were at the major pet store, and I trust Natural Balance – it is in the name. They are grain free, apparently great tasting to my dogs (I’ll take their “word” for it. I also like that it is limited ingredients, because one of my dogs has an allergy to certain ingredients, so I have to be choosy on what he eats. I do like the fact that they are thick, hard to break with your hands kind of treats.This is the first time I have actually seen my Belgian have to lay down and focus on eating the treat. He is actually enjoying it and not eating it just cause it’s there. My Chihuahua on the other hand, has a little mouth, and I do my best to break it in 2 for him. He takes both pieces and hides behind my recliner or under my bed to enjoy it without big boy snagging it.I am glad that these are made with sweet potatoes, protein, molasses, and venison. Most are made with beef, chicken…glad to see a break from the norm.
Like many other folks have said, they crumble too easily now. We’ve bought the Ducky & Potato grain free biscuits for a long time for our sweet old pup, We choose to avoid wheat based products for him because he’s a cancer survivor, and he likes these treats.Unfortunately, something in the recipe or production process must have changed sometime in 2021, because the bags we’ve received since then contain a LOT of broken biscuits and crumbs. We can get by with using the broken pieces, but the large quantity of crumbs is a waste of money since they can really only be used to sprinkle on our boy’s (already expensive) food. These biscuits are pricey, so the crumb issue is making me question whether it’s worth buying this product any more.Edited in 2023 to say that ‘Milk-Bone’ now make a grain free version of their biscuits with similar ingredients (plus cellulose, unfortunately). Since we only give our boy a biscuit about once a day as a treat, I don’t think the few extra ingredients in the Milk Bones would be an issue, so I’m going to buy a small bag of those for him to try.

Great for dogs with allergies. My Boston terrier is allergic to poultry and wheat, which eliminates almost all “healthy” treats since they’re often made of chicken and whole wheat. If I hadn’t found these fish and potato treats, he wouldn’t have treats at all. He’s also a fussy eater but he loves these. Now that he’s older he has to bite them into smaller pieces so he can chew them, but he manages.
Dog treats. These treats are great for my dog. They are great for big dogs but I break them for my smaller dogs.
Great. My dog love this product
Used these for years, but…. We have used these biscuits for about 12 years, but we may not anymore. They are so hard that our old dogs have a hard time chewing them. I can barely break one in half. I also dislike that they mostly look scorched. I don’t want to feed that to my dogs. I love the beef and rice version, but I hesitate to feed the dogs beef every day anymore than I would feed a human that much beef. Hate to do it, but I may have to look for a different brand.
Used to be good. I break one cookie into four pieces for my 20lb dog and it has worked fine for the past 18 bags but the most recent 2-3 bags has had pieces that are so hard that me as a strong male con not break one in half. Something changed and I am not looking for a new alternative. If you are the manufacturer – take notice!
VERY CRUNCHY. If you have dogs/ puppies that LOVE to chew, this is the go to snack for your dogs! It makes a loud crunch sound when they eat it and that alone is very satisfying for my dogs. It smells good too, like something that just came off the grill! So far, it’s my dogs FAVORITE snack! 😍😍😍

Our pup loves them. They are a great treat for our Doodle. He loves them and they do not bother his stomach. We’ve tried several other treats and have had issues with diarrhea. They’re fresh, crunchy and obviously great tasting since our boy goes crazy for them.
Dogs love them. I love the ingredients and they don’t seem to upset their stomachs. Great texture to get plaque off their teeth. They were fresh and delicious to them 🙂
Hard as a rock. We only use Natural Balance food and treats for our dog as we like the limited ingredients products. Of all the varieties we have tried, this venison biscuits are by far the hardest. Our dog crunches them easily and I hope they are helping keep her teeth clean. Despite the hard crunch she loves them.
My pups love these the most. I have tried lots and lots of snacks for my hounds!!! They get extremely excited for these when I whip them out. I’ve ordered several bags and will continue to do so.

Perfect for Finicky Senior Dog. My senior boy has advanced heart disease. In addition, he’s extremely finicky and has stomach issues. His internal medicine veterinarian put him on a novel protein diet. He loves these! They are the size of a regular Milkbone.
