Good laptop after some tweaking. I got this laptop a few days ago and have tested it for nearly 48h.Some things to consider• Pretty good screen for a laptop. 144hz and good looking out of the box• Laptop frame feels solid but isnt overly heavy.• The 6gb RTX 3060 runs games really well. Division 2 averaged over 120 fps at max settings at 1080p. I tested war thunder, escape from tarkov and mordhau as well and both were extremely smooth (both hit 144hz reliably at ultra 1080p). No noticable input or screen lag in mordhau so fast shooters will benefit as well.• No noticeable micro stutters when switching from• The laptop top doesn’t feel hot under pressure but I wouldn’t play this on my lap.• I added a 1tb WD Blue NVMe stick to this laptop, its easy to do and there are videos of how to do it.• The GPU runs cool for a laptop (avg 78 under pressure) but the CPU doesn’t. You can fix this by limiting the max power in power settings for the CPU or undervolting it. The cpu has initial spikes in temp but usually ends up in the mid 80s which is a little hot but expected.• Use dragon center to tune the performance. Don’t run extreme performance without cooler boost.• Buy a cooling pad and watch temps for the CPU, the CPU is the only thing that holds this beast back because it tends to hit high temps (95c max from what I saw) if left at max settings.• It has 2x USB3.2and 2x USB-C so you might need to buy an usb dongle. It has a single jack for a headset so you might need to buy a splitter depending on your headset.• One HDMI only. No displayport at all which is something to consider. The HDMI is capable of 4k 60hz but at the end of the day its HDMI. Should be compatible with g sync or g sync supported monitors.

Amazing Graphics and power for price. This is an amazing laptop! I have had it for a little over a month now (from writing this review) and I have not had any performance issues that were caused by the computer or anything involving the computer itself. (Some programs I have don’t work properly but that has nothing to do with the laptop but missing files or improperly installed files. )It is important to note, I have seen so many reviews given as one star because of a user fault. The most common issue is overheating. Here is some advice for the people who fail to research what they might need for a *GAMING LAPTOP*. GET AN EXTERNAL FAN PAD!!! The fans in the laptop are no where near strong enough to maintain proper cooling in a gaming laptop for prolonged periods of use. They are way too small and simply cannot keep the computer cool because of the power required to run all the hardware. If you simply did your research (which I hope is what your doing by reading this) you would know to get fans. They are cheap and they will assist in keeping your computer cool. Something else to note, gaming desktop PCs don’t generally have this problem (if ordered from and built by a trusted brand). I cannot guarantee that every computer will have a well built cooling system (in regards to PCs. Not laptops). In short, if you’re looking to get a gaming laptop, get external cooling fans. They are generally cheap and there are many for you to find.
My best purchase of 2021. I’m a huge fan of MSI. This notebook is probably the best purchase I made late last year. The performance isn’t bad whatsoever. Playing games like Rogue Company, Destiny 2 Rainbow Six Siege at over 100 to 200 fps makes it a better option than that of most home console. But at 1080p at high or medium settings of course. Some cons that I have to address though. 1. The battery dies fast even while playing small, less demanding games and can clock in at less than 2 hours before needing a charge again. 2. Unplugging the notebook from the power cable can cut performance in half or more. 3. Not much USB connectors so you’re limited to what you can use unless you shell out for a usb hub. It’s worth IMO. 4. Storage is murder if you want to install some if the best AAA games since it in only has 512gb out of the box plus the 16gb Ram is enough for gaming but editing needs more though. The best solution is upgrading to more storage and adding more ram once you feel you really need it. Check YouTube for any good tutorial videos once ready for upgrade. Finally 5. Temperature and noise levels. This notebook can get exceedingly hot and loud during sessions, I use a Tecknet cooler to help but it just manages to keep it a better temperature than reliying on the notebooks loud fans. Using headphones is only way bypass this annoyance, cause the “jet engine” like sound will put you off in just about an hour. Even with all these cons, I can’t recommend this laptop enough. The performance is just too good and it’s probably the best way to enter pc gaming at a decent price due to the ongoing GPU drought thanks to the chip shortage.

A Solid Laptop for a Solid Price. As someone who wanted a laptop that wasn’t too high-end (so I wouldn’t mourn over its loss) and something that wasn’t too weak, I am thoroughly satisfied with this purchase.Graduating from an ROG “ultra gamer laptop”, the outer casing is such a breath of fresh air. The thing is fully enclosed with a sleek black. The only thing that offsets the darkness is the piercing red of the shield and the keyboard. This is definitely where the “less-is-better” approach shines through – I’m not ashamed to bust this laptop out in a public area. Really grateful for the design choice here.In terms of performance, I have no qualms with it. As someone who plays Rocket League, Heroes of the Storm, and Fortnite, I can run these games on medium at 100-120fps. While it does get hot, it does arguably better than my older laptop, sitting under 80C during load. If you can get to knowing how to use the gamer profiles on Dragon Center, it’ll help you a TON. While the presets have their own fan curves, you can also set your own. While I’m not gaming on battery, I am still doing some creative work like Photoshop/Krita. Even then I could use it for a while before I have to plug it in – though I usually have it plugged in so I don’t have much experience on this end.I can’t say too much for the keyboard. This classic laptop chiclet design is a far cry from my main mechanical keyboard, but it’s nothing foreign from laptops of old which I’m fine with. Bonus points to having the enter key and backslash kind of combine to look like a reverse L enter key! How charming.A word of advice? Get a USB hub. This is constantly the issue I have with laptops – they’d probably have to increase the form factor to fit in more. All in all, this is a solid machine. I’ll update this in case anything breaks.
The good, the bad, and the ugly. First and foremost this is a standard entry level gaming laptop. You can throw a lot at it and it won’t budge, however, do be mindful that this is still a laptop. Cooling will be the primary issue as is the case with most other laptops. The good- The version I received came with a 10 core 12th gen i7, a dedicated 4050 GPU with 6GB of VRAM. This is more than sufficient for my gaming, photoshop, programming, and productions needs. I debated splurging on a laptop with a larger 17″ screen, for my purposes though 15″ is enough. The brightness and clarity are great. 144Hz is an excellent feature, but considering the nature of this machine I would prefer 120Hz. Allow me to clarify, I understand Hz has everything to do with the screen refresh rate. I also understand most games can be capped around 120FPS, by capping the two it can allow cooling headroom. The mediocre- at $1K is 512GB of SSD space the best you can really do? I immediately took my machine apart and installed an aftermarket 4TB crucial NVMe and a 4TB Samsung 980 Evo, in addition to replacing the RAM from 16GB to 64GB. I understand this sounds like overkill, and it is… to an extent. Beyond gaming I run virtualization software and edit photography shots for my side gig. Running virtualized labs exhausts a lot of resources, and due to the nature of travel associated with my work, I can’t always utilize my desktop. Audio isn’t the greatest on this machine either, the sounds are washed out due to the speakers being place on the bottom. The bad – expandability. This is 2023, disk space should be expandable by now without voiding the warranty. I am well aware I can purchase an external drive, but it blows my mind that modern day devices have the ability to be customized – e.g Disk space/RAM, etc, but the warranty must be void in order to do so. These are relatively low risk modifications. The ugly- cooling, 100%. MSI BIOS by default runs turbo, add Windows 11 to the mix and you have a deadly concoction on your hands. This toasty boi almost peaked around 92C. Yes, modern day equipment can run this hot, will it stand the test of time though? I am not one to take that risk. I managed to take 20C off of my average temps, which should hopefully increase the longevity of my laptop. What would my suggestion to the manufacturer be?- First and foremost disable turbo, it’s unnecessary. The laptop is certainly capable of performing under extreme workloads but it’s not exactly practical when the temperature is teetering around it’s throttle limit.- A thicker base for a more robust heatsink. I know this is counterintuitive to the specific design of this product since it is supposed to be thing. This could expand the life of the product though.Suggestions for the consumer- Turn off turbo in BIOS, it requires enabling advanced mode but the rewards are worth it.- Get rid of Windows 11, it’s absolute garbage in its current state. Maybe by the next iteration they will have fixed it. For now, install Windows 10 via USB or install a user friendly Linux Distro like Mint, Debian, or Ubuntu.- Purchase an aftermarket laptop stand/cooler. I don’t have any particular one to suggest since I’m still in the search for something I think will perform the job correctly.Final thoughtsThis is a solid 7.5/10 laptop. It’s not bleeding edge by today’s standards, but it will do more than just get you by especially if you are a student on a budget who enjoys games on the side. This laptop also serves as a great multipurpose device with a few component modifications. That all depends on if you are willing to risk voiding the warranty or not. As an IT professional I suggest not doing so if you are not comfortable with the thought of that.
Really well for average gamer. I recommend this computer to anyone who is your avid gamer. I was able to run games that were not easy to run on your typical pc. However, I will say that some of these games only work smoothly if you have the battery connected most of the time. For example, when I run the sims, it works smoothly when it’s fully charged, but after it gets to 50% or less, the whole game runs so much slower. Almost like the laptop isn’t a gaming laptop with good core and hz. I did research and came up with this laptop multiple times. I only really play the sims so I didn’t think to get a whole pc setup, with a well working component. Either way, besides the battery drainage, it works just as intended. I was a bit disappointed about the fact that I can’t really decorate the laptop since it’s red and black themed already. It looks awesome, but I would’ve liked to decorate to whatever mood I’m in at the time I use it. Not to mention that I use this laptop for school, so it’s kind of awkward having a whole gaming laptop with loud noises in the middle of class. It does get hot on the sides, so if you can afford it, definitely get a laptop cooling pad. Amazon has plenty.

Extremely FAST and POWERFUL! Absolutely worth it. First off, this laptop is a BEAST! I don’t normally post reviews, but I wanted others to know that it’s absolutely worth every dollar. It’s extremely fast. Like, multi tasking is so easy; even while gaming! I can run ultra/epic on literally any game that I throw at it, and the graphics are PHENOMENAL. It beats my PS5. There’s much more precision and depth. It completely blew me away and it’s pretty quiet too. In comparison it’s probably just as loud as a ps5, which isn’t very loud at all. I do use a cooling pad to help maintain the temp, but I haven’t had any spikes. It’s very consistent, which I like! The audio is phenomenal. It’s very immersive. You can easily tell if someone’s behind you in a game. Like, it’s very impressive.MSI did a great job with this set up. I’ll give it a 9 out of 10. Just because no laptop is perfect, but there’s a couple of things they could improve. I wish the quality of the cam/microphone was better. Although, it’s not really needed with a gaming laptop because you’ll most likely use a headset or separate microphone. I wish the quality of the keyboard was a little more sturdy if that makes sense. It might just be me, because I’ve used a lot of mechanical keyboards for gaming, and it just feels a little odd to me.Worth it though! You guys gotta get your hands on one 😁
Great value at a great price. Ok the good points: The internals make this a great value. The case is a nice brushed black finish. The screen is very nice. The battery life is what you expect from the power draw of the components inside. Now the bad. They are using a standard barrel connector plug for the power connector not a USB-C. It is larger and heavier than most laptops. The nice finish means scratches show up easier. The power draw of the components when using it to its full potential are battery life dismal for gaming and any other high demand tasks.Over all a really great value.
Good Laptop, Missed Opportunities. It does what is claims to. Decent CPU, dedicated GPU, good audio, expandable storage and RAM, etc.The missed opportunities come really in only one place, but two opportunities. Both issues are with the USB Type-C port. First, that the port isn’t thunderbolt, I know 11th gen CPUs support thunderbolt, missed opportunity to give users access to that technology. Secondly the Type-C port doesn’t support USB PD charging. Again a missed opportunity to give users extended functionality at what I presume to be minimal additional cost.

Decent gaming computer at a great price / battery life a bit short. I’ve ran Cyberpunk 2077 with graphic at high setting and it kept up at 30~35 FPS, and I am currently playing it with medium graphic setting without any issue. So I’m pretty satisfied, considering this is a laptop, not a desktop. The design of the laptop is a bit crude and the battery life is pretty short, but considering the price of this laptop, everything just can be forgiven. It’s a choice between spending +$1000 for pretty looking longer lasting batteried gaming laptop VS spending $600 for a bit ugly, short batteried but still a decent gaming laptop, and I chose the latter option which I’m not regretting.
Personally I love this computer. The screen is quite clean it’s nice looking basically it’s very smooth to be honest. The screen is pretty decent it’s better than most I’ve had which isn’t many but this computer is worth it to be honest if you’re looking to game and do some work. The process speed of it is quite quick also. It’s very quite when using it if it’s not going pass it’s limit. The speaker on it is quite clear as well. But I do suggest if you get this try to get a 32 GB ram for it make sure it’s the right one like this one is a ddr 5 I believe.
Excellent gaming laptop. This is by far the best gaming laptop!! 💻 We bought this for my oldest son, he earned this laptop due to being a straight “A” student! It came well packaged, it’s very fast download speed, easy setup, the performance is great! It’s bigger than we expected, but that even better! Great display quality!! Highly recommend!!
Great gaming laptop. Great laptop. I upgraded to 16GB RAM and put in a 1 TB SSD immediately when I got it. Super easy and there’s a great YouTube video out there if you need extra help. Still running great and I’ve had it for 2 years now.
