Perfect for this “uncool” mom, haha. Our teenage son always seems to somehow ‘confiscate’ and then proceed to break and/or lose every set of earbud-type earphones in our house, including mine that came with my iPod. So, he has now been relegated to only owning the least expensive kind I can find for him (even if that means pink ones, lol). So, after perusing Amazon, I bought these headphones for him because 1) they were so inexpensive, 2) the reviews were pretty good, and 3) did I mention they were so inexpensive?Well, when they arrived, I opened them up to check them out and make sure they worked and such. I was impressed and I really liked them. But when I gave them to my son, I quickly learned that, according to my son, over-the-head type “headphones” (as opposed to the in-ear or ear bud type) are so “80’s” and “uncool looking”. Was I angry at him for basically calling me “old and uncool” for liking these headphones? No way!! This was my perfect solution to keep him from “borrowing” and then losing/breaking MY headphones. Besides, I never really liked the ones that go into the ears anyhow. So now these are mine! For what it’s worth, I feel neither “old” nor “uncool” while wearing them. I promise!!*They fit great, they are snug but not TOO snug. If I was into jogging and/or some other type of strenuous exercise, I don’t think I would have any trouble keeping them in place on my ears/head (I swim for exercise so obviously I can’t wear them for that, lol).*The quality of sound is fantastic to me – although I’m not really an “audio snob”.*They are extremely adjustable on both sides although I happen to use them on the smallest setting without needing to make them any bigger.*They are lightweight, as stated in the description, but not in a ‘flimsy’ kind of way. I don’t think they are any more or less breakable than any other kind of similar headphones (yes, I did go through many sets of headphones like these during the 1980’s).Since I don’t expect to be rough with them at all, I am hoping they last me quite awhile. If not, and they do somehow break, at least I wouldn’t feel *too* bad only being out a few dollars. I would ABSOLUTELY order these again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for inexpensive, but nice, headphones. They are perfect for this “uncool” mom. :-)***UPDATE*** June, 2015: Well it’s been nearly two years and I’ve gone through about three pairs of these headphones (and I’m going to order a few more after I write this – now that they have pretty color options). Not one pair has broken yet, they just seem to get lost somehow (in our house, we joke that when things go missing it’s because unicorns come and eat them). I’m glad they have color options now and I would still absolutely recommend these inexpensive, and nice, headphones.
Has that classic look with a very, very good fit, finish, and feel, without being over stated. I had some original Sony MDR110LP from back in the 90’s-00’s that are now discontinued and over priced. Got them originally with my walkmans and I love the classic look, feel, and sound. This Koss KPH7 are very very close. The sound is a little more treble than warm, and the sony’s were nice and warm sounding, but still light and open, but this Koss is in no way tinny sounding. Both basically work like open back headphones because the drivers are so small (they dont cover the whole ear, like larger over ear headphones), so some sound is able to travel out through the foam pads. They are not loud, even with sound on my flac player turned up to 80-85%, but i rarely need to go past that. Any more than that and you get distortion. If you are used to larger over the ear studio monitors or high end open backed headphones, this will be a step down. And in general, sound quality is average, maybe even a little less than your average sony, philips, or apple in-ear phones. But I bought it because i still prefer headphones over in-ear phones and I do prefer the comfort and open sound these give compared to any in-ear phones, whether high end or consumer – and i do have multiple pairs of in-ears from consumer bose, philips, sony, apple, to high end sennheiser. For general, casual listening, outdoors or indoors, I have a use for these, and I really like them. They are light weight, comfortable, more durable than in-ear phones, and I’m okay with sacrificing some sound quality to get more airy, open-ness.The value is amazing for the price. And if you’re looking to replicate that vintage 80-90’s sounding tech of portable cd players, walkman, and hand-held television/gameboys, this completely reminds me of that analog sound, maybe not the best warm, and full analog sound, but still -these are very nicely made, the materials are better than average for on-ear heaphones. They have nice clamp pressure, which can be forced looser if needed, and the pads are very very comfy.I would recommend these for what they offer, and for their price. If you just need some very comfortable on-ear phones that you can wear all day and don’t want to look flashy with your over-sized over ear headphones, and know that sound will just be decent, for 7$ I’d pick these up while they are still being made.On-ear headphone of this style and size are limited, but this one has that classic look, with a very very good fit, finish, and feel, without being over stated -just a 90’s kid in the modern world, rockin headband style phones and comfy foam pads.

just what expected. works fine but the sponge earpads always wear out and you must have something otherwise just plastic on ears would not be comfortable
Koss headphones have been around since 1958. I used to wear Koss when I was a DJ in the 70’s. I bought them because I recognized the Koss brand from by broadcasting days in the ’70’s. But I was looking for a short cord so I could wear it walking and plugged into my phone, and foam ear pads so it would not block out sounds around me too much. I wish it had a USB plug but I have an adapter. I finally found the headphones I was looking for!
Simple. Fit large skulls. My son has an adult size head for a 10 year old. All kids headphones are too small and all adult ones are very expensive and usually wireless. He needed plain, wired headphones for school. These are perfect. And a good price.
Not good at all on iPod Touch, very tinny – NO depth to the sound. Maybe it’s an impedance mismatch but these KPH7 sound very tinny on my iPod Touch. My larger, more expensive Koss Porta Pro On Ear Headphones ($40) sound excellent on the same iPod. The KPH do an adequate job on my desktop computer – not great, but better sound than from the iPod.
This is on school list. This is on my daughter school list. Seems very high quality, hope lasting long. The price is very fair. Thanks! Hope have more color to choose, like pink, yellow, purple… 🙂
What’s to like. You used to think of Koss as being high end sound equipment. This headset does not adjust to the ear well , fits way to tight and doesn’t sound nearly as good as one similar to one I had in the past, also made by Koss. You just never know, but I would not buy this again. It’s ok for the price, but don’t expect much.
Very good travelers headphones. This late addition to my travel to Canada was very useful, my regular headphones were big and bulky. So getting these smaller headphones plus the fact that they are cheap and fast to get, is a real life saver. As for a daily driver, I wouldn’t really recommend them. I’d actually spend the money on getting good quality head phones (No offence)But for something that was very cheap, fast to get here, and if you really wanna handle some movies or music on a plane. I would recommend these 100%They are also surprisingly durable and sound good… the the price I paid for anyway.
for less than 10 dollars, these do exactly what I need them to. very simple, no buttons or controls to navigate. Just plug them in and listen to whatever. they’re neither fragile nor notably durable (mine haven’t broken, but their mettle is yet to be tested). They fit my head comfortably; not pressing too firmly against my ears nor falling off when I turn my head suddenly. If you’re looking for some cheap, simple headphones with an aux cable: you found ’em.
Fragile, but low-priced and good. This pair of headphones is easy to break but works very well. It comes with an aux jack that can bend if your device drops. But the bend is not very fixable in my experience.I’d recommend getting a pair of Logitech headphones instead, they are absolutely phenomenal.
Nice. These are nice for the price however i cant use them since they don’t fit my Iphone.
Can’t complain – the price is so low and the sound quite adequate. Good cheap headphones suits its purpose – hearing sounds. The heaphones I rec’d came quickly, but unfortunately the hard plastic packaging was damaged (but not the mailing envelope) and one of the earpieces didn’t work. Got my refund and am looking for a suitable replacement. The most inconvenient thing is that each earpiece has a wire and they merge into one microjack. The wires can easily get twisted/tied around the earpieces unless you take extra caution to prevent that.I will be looking for a headphone that requires only one wire from the jack to the headphone.
Good sound quality. To be clear these are cheap budget headphones. They are rather flimsy and I’m sure they won’t too long. But they’re comfortable, the audio quality is good, and they’re inexpensive so they’re perfect for my application. No complaints! I’ll certainly buy another pair once they wear out.
