(Almost) Excellent Purchase (so far). As is common today, the device comes with sparse (3-steps) instructions. On 3 different devices (iPad, Pixel 6 phone, and MacBook Pro) I couldn’t get the Kasa app to let me establish an account. So, after knocking my head against the wall for over an hour, I went to sleep and called TP-Link tech support the next morning. The agent was excellent. Two important missing pieces she told me are: (1) all consumer-facing TP-Link accounts associated with a particular email address use the identical username & password, and (2) despite them telling you passwords should have a mix of upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and special characters, TP-Link’s security doesn’t always play nice with special characters. Once I got rid of them and adjusted the multiple TP-Link accounts in my password keeper, I was finally able to set up the Kasa app.The next problem was adding the device to the app. The instructions say to make sure the KP303 and device on which Kasa software is installed are running on the same network. I thought this meant the network configured in my router. (I thought they were using something like a temporary Bluetooth network to have the KP303 learn what network to use.) But nothing worked. The app has a useful trouble-shooting window if this fails, but nothing on it helped. After two failures and a waste of about 1/2 hour, I noticed that a TP-named network appeared on my list of available networks (in Settings) when I plugged in the KP303. Wouldn’t it be nice if they mentioned this when they told you to make sure the two devices were on the same network? Once I connected to this network on my iPad, everything went rather smoothly. The last start-up issue I had was naming the outlets on the KP303. The Kasa software very intelligently uses a 2-part naming system for each device; e.g. “Master Bedroom” + “Right-side night light.” Again, coming from a competitor’s product, I learned this the hard way. First I named each outlet with a name like, “Master Bedroom – Right-side night light,” then discovered about the 2-level, location+name nomenclature, had to learn how to rename already named devices, and went back to simplify the second-level names. All this griping concerns start-up issues, for what seems like a very powerful, well-thought-out system. But I once spent the first six months of a programming job developing documentation standards, going through my predecessor’s work, figuring out what he had done, and documenting all his undocumented programming. So, I have no tolerance for poor documentation. Hence, 4-stars.P.S. I hope my detailed explanations above (i.e., the missing documentation) will help others trying to get Kasa and the KP303 going.
Makes My Life A Little Easier. I bought this power strip because I wasn’t able to have a lot plugged into my outlet that has a dresser covering it. I only have 2 outlets in my entire room so power strips are a must! I was excited about it being a smart power strip which I’ve never purchased before because I have a string of lights that I use every single day. This power strip makes my life a little easier because now I don’t have to worry about plugging in my lights every night and unplugging them every morning. I love walking into my room and the lights are already on and my room isn’t pitch black at night. The only thing that I don’t like is that I’ve had to restart or unplug and plug the power strip back in just to get it reconnected. There’s been many times now that I wake up and my lights are still on or come home and my lights aren’t on because it got disconnected or whatever. I’m not sure why it does that. I’m still new to the smart plugs and power strips. I also have the smart plugs but I’ve never had any issues with those. I love them. Even though I have to restart it sometimes I still love it.
I like it. The Kasa Smart Plug Power Strip is a game-changer for my home! Its versatility and convenience have made my life so much easier. Setting it up was a breeze; I just plugged it in and connected it to the Kasa app on my phone. Now, I can control all my devices from anywhere with a tap of my finger. The surge protection feature gives me peace of mind, knowing my valuable electronics are safe. I love that it has three smart outlets and two USB ports, providing enough space to power multiple devices simultaneously. The compact design and sleek look make it blend seamlessly into any room. If you want to smarten up your home, this power strip is a must-have!
Great smart outlet with a couple of flaws. I own about a dozen Kasa smart products, including outlets and the larger version of this smart surge protector, and haven’t had any problem with any of them. This 3-outlet smart strip is no exception. Setup was straight forward as usual, though remember to start setup on the app before you plug it in. Works with Alexa and other smart home systems. There are a couple of flaws though:1) The USB ports are not controllable, even as a pair. It’s not a huge deal, but it would be nice if they were controllable so you wouldn’t have to use a full plug for things which are USB powered, such as an IP camera.2) The firmware update can fail, and the only solution is to power cycle it. Since there is no power switch, you must physically unplug it, which can be a pain if you have this in an area that isn’t easy to reach.Overall, it’s an excellent product and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again, though hopefully the flaws will be addressed in a new revision.
Convenient and easy to setup. Kasa app is great and full of features that are easy to use, and power strip has made it so nice for us to give the dogs some light if we can’t make it home before the sun goes down. Only issue is I have to occasionally unplug from power and plug in due to the strip disconnecting. Still worth the money!
Works well … nearly all of the time. This smart power strip continues to do what it’s advertised to do … 99.9% of the time. That 0.1% is the problem, but I’ll get to that.It worked out of the box using the instructions provided. I downloaded the Kasa Smart app onto my phone, and after setup I was able to name and control the power strip’s three outlets (I got the version with three outlets) independently, or combine two or all of them together into a group and control them at the same time. I can also control them with Google Home. It’s advertised as also being compatible with Alexa, but I don’t have anything with Alexa, so I can’t test that firsthand. Each outlet also has a toggle button that allows the user to switch that outlet on or off manually, and each button has an LED that shows whether the outlet is currently supplying power to whatever’s plugged into it. This is a bigger deal than one might think at first. Imagine a desk lamp with a chain that can be pulled to turn it on or off, but you can’t tell by just looking at it whether that pull-chain switch is on or off. Now imagine that you plug it into this power strip and it doesn’t light up. Where’s the problem – is the light bulb burned out? Is the lamp turned off? Is the power strip’s outlet off? Well, I can eliminate the third question by just looking at this power strip and making sure that the outlet is on, so one pull of the lamp’s chain will tell me whether the light bulb is burned out or not.The thing is, occasionally the power strip will just suddenly stop responding to the network. I don’t know what causes this, but it will suddenly and silently disconnect; its power light and connection light will say that it’s powered and connected to wi-fi, but the app says it can’t contact the device. I can still manually toggle the outlets on and off with the buttons, but I can’t control it with the app, or Google Home, etc. I can unplug the device and plug it back in, resetting it, and things work again. But I never know when it’s going to glitch again, and that unreliability is what gives this device four stars instead of five for me. It doesn’t happen every day – it’s been weeks since the last time it happened, in fact – but not knowing what caused it or when it’s going to happen again adds just enough uncertainty that I can’t quite trust it. I’m not going to plug anything into it that might be disastrous if it couldn’t be controlled.Very well designed other than that shadow of unreliability.

Love it. I honestly love this extension cord because it works through Wi-Fi and I can control my devices even if I am not in the house. There is a timer I can set it up. It works with Alexa. The insulation was pretty simple. The size and the shape are good and it actually looks nice. The cord is not very long but for what I needed works pretty good. It’s easy to use easy install and it’s worth it of the money.

Easy setup. Works right out the box. Kasa app makes it very easy to get this smart power strip set up. Even if you don’t read well, you can easily understand by looking at the photos. I also like to use this because you can voice control it from Alexa and Smart things.
Great Product. I have a few devices from kasa and everything works. Picked this up for the Xmas tree lights and topper. Easy to add the device within their app and schedule on/off operations.
Easy to connect, Exactly what I needed for the Christmas Tree Lights. This worked perfectly for my Christmas tree lights and star setup. Wanted a timer and control function without having to reach for the outlet. KASA items are super easy to connect to your WIFI/Phone, took less than 2 minutes to get everything and working. Great value as well, quality build.

Outstandingly Convenient with and without Tech. Power strip works very well with Kasa app and integrates with GoogleHome, too. If WiFi disconnects, the power strip functions just as well, with only remote capability (of course) being negatively impacted. Worth the extra spend, if budget allows, and def worth it for connected/smart homes.
Perfect. Got this for my Christmas tree and topper so I could set them up on a schedule and not have to climb under the tree twice a day. It works perfectly and was ridiculously easy to set up in the app I already had for my other Kasa devices.

Works great. Exactly what I needed. Can turn it on and off from my phone, and can easily schedule on and off times as well.
