Works great with Shortcuts app; makes slight noise. Complaints first: one of the two devices out of the box creates a very slight humming/hissing electronic noise. Weird that only one does it, and not the other. It is not loud at all, but if you have sensitive hearing or you happen to sleep in the same room as the device, it may be irritating. These work great for what they were designed. The Kasa app itself is fairly rudimentary – you can put whatever device you plug in on a schedule, a timer, or an Away feature which will switch it on at a certain time, off at another time, for whatever days you want. For me, I used the Apple Shortcuts app so that I can access a couple more triggers. The Shortcuts app can “access” the Kasa app and turn your devices on and off, trigger an alarm, set a temperature, play a “kasa scene”, and change light color and brightness.I programmed mine to switch my charger off once it reaches a certain battery percentage.
Convenient and Simple. Setting up the Kasa Smart Plugs was an absolute breeze. The process was remarkably easy and straightforward, and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I had them up and running. One of the standout features was the seamless linking to my Amazon Alexa. The integration was flawless, allowing me to control the smart plugs with voice commands without any hiccups.Unlike other devices I’ve used, the Kasa Smart Plugs effortlessly pick up WiFi signals and maintain a strong, stable connection. This has eliminated the frustrating disconnections and disruptions that have plagued my previous experiences with smart plugs.Having the Kasa Smart Plugs in my home has added a layer of convenience that I didn’t realize I was missing. The ability to control devices remotely and effortlessly via voice commands has streamlined various aspects of my daily routine, especially when my body decides it doesn’t want to work properly. Whether it’s turning lights on and off or managing other appliances, the Kasa Smart Plugs have simplified these tasks in a remarkable way.I wholeheartedly recommend the Kasa Smart Plugs. They offer a level of convenience that truly makes a positive impact on day-to-day life.
Reliability and easy remote access. Due to an occasional Wi-Fi extender issue, a reset was needed to restore the signal which occurred a few times when we’re away from the house. The Kasa smart plug provided the means to do a power off/on reboot remotely using our cell phone. I installed another Kasa smart plug to control a blue tooth input adapter to stream music through the home theater system and avoid the tedious chore of plugging in/out each time. The plug network connection setup is quick and easy, and the app provides a simple way to control an electrical device remotely. I strongly recommend this item!
Pretty good, but if using for a light get a smart bulb. These are great, however I initially bought for a floor lamp because my living room doesn’t have a ceiling light, and I don’t want to trip through a dark room to switch on the light. It was super easy to setup and the app guides you through the short process. With the app you can turn on and off and setup a schedule for it. However, shortly after I bought Kasa smart bulbs (so I could use the same app) and those are better when it comes to controlling light (they dim and change color as well as on off and scheduling). So I’m going to swap it out and use this plug for an air conditioner that isn’t automatic. My only complaint (and it’s not a big one) is that it’s designed to be “small” so it doesn’t block another socket in a wall outlet (which is a plus), but has the opposite effect if used in a power strip where all the sockets are side by side. Not really the products fault, just remember that it will take up space on a power strip.
Great Procuct. I love these. I can control the lamps in the family room and even a small radio that I leave on for my bird. Also have a small camera/monitor for the family room from Kasa as well. Can control everything from my Smartphone. Highly recommend these plugs – they are the best! Easy to install and easy to set up on my phone. I have an Android – Pixel. No issues at all with the set up.
Plug seems to work ok. I’ve only had the plugs for a couple days. I currently have 4 Wyze plugs in the home but wanted to add other lamps, fans, etc to the smart family lol. I’ve heard about these plugs so wanted to give them a shot as they saved me nearly 10 dollars on four plugs vs Wyze, plus the “mini” size sounded like a better fit.Upon opening, not really “mini” but are a little smaller than my current plugs so guess I’ll give them a pass. The setup got to be a little frustrating at first. They would not see the plug so had to exit setup and unplug it, then plug back in and restart. It seen it 2 nd time around and I started the setup. It stated it was changing my wifi temporarily to connect directly to the plug. I didn’t see my wifi settings change but 🤷. Then the next screen asked me to change my wifi back to my home, which it was already on. So you have to click already connected before it would finish the setup.once connected it asked you to choose the location and name it. (As all do). All in all took about 5 mins to connect 1 plug counting the firmware update. (20 mins in total). They were able to connect to both Google home and Alexa aomewhat smoothly. They seem to be working well as of now. Conclusion is they seem to work as a smart plug should. Setup has some connection issues. App seems straight forward but haven’t really done much other than set a schedule for the lights.Comparing them to Wyze, I probably should have stuck with them. Wyze was simple to setup only a couple mins per plug with 0 issues. Connected to Google home and Alexa quick and have great range. So if you have to link already or changing over all your plugs not a bad choice with these. Just know the setup can be a little bit more than some.
Setup worked on the first attempt! Easy Alexa add too. The media could not be loaded. Setup was (compared to other smart plugs I’ve used) pretty straight forward. There were several steps, but I only had to attempt the setup once per device (I ordered 2) and it worked the first time, so that was a win! Even though the units were brand new, I did have to do a firmware update on each of them, which added a minute or so per device to the setup time.Once I had created an account with the required app, signed in via the app I had to download (kasa app) and entered my wifi password into this app (choose your security risk adventure yourself) everything worked well.I used this to put a pair of lights on one plug and on the other I connected it to a woodburning stove fan.Added both in a room, and customized the name for each item.Adding them to Alexa was easy, after one item was added to alexa, (enabled in the Kasa app) after I initially added the second device to the kasa app, that named device was automatically added to Alexa.transcript of my video review follows(note I was a good distance away from Alexa device so when I have alexa turn things on and off, I had to turn my head to speak more clearly, which has nothing to do with these plugs and their app)This is a 2 pack Smart Plugs they work with the Kasa app and they tell you to download that. In here they’ve got an on off button. I actually write that on the plug because months, years later if I move around or even if I move to a different house or something like that, it helps me to remember which plug goes with which app.And so on. But about to get these set up. I’m actually replacing some others that from a different source that didn’t make it possible to upload the Wi Fi when changed Wi Fi devices. Hopefully these will have some better options for updates. Got it all set up. App wasn’t too difficult to connect to.And had to do an update, firmware update. And then after that I was, I was able to connect it to the Alexa app. Alexa, turn off the front lights. Okay. Alexa, turn off the front lights. Okay. Alexa, turn on the front lights. Okay. I then set up the second one. It was easier than the first because the app already had my Wi Fi password. And that’s a warning. You will need to input your Wi Fi password eventually. Plus allow for a location setting. And maybe some scheduling type stuff, so consider that whether or not you want to do that. After all that, I was able to connect this to Alexa as well. The second one went faster than the first.Alexa, turn on the stove fan.Alexa, turn on the stove fan. And just getting ready to start a fire, so I got stuff in the wood burning stove, but I wanted to get the fan on the thing. Pretty cool that it works.

Excellent product, good quality, easy to setup. Easy to setup with the automated setup process. Comes with its own app for easy to use on/off controls and also works with Alexa. Easy to add more to cover anything you want to remotely control (on/off). Only wish list item is that they could be a little smaller. For most applications it is not a big deal or noticeable, but always nice to have something smaller for tight spaces and aesthetics. Will buy again.
TP-Link Kasa Smart Plugs are awesome. Kasa is a TP-Link brand, and TP-Link is my go to brand for networking equipment, so I was very pleased when I found that out. They make quality products that last a long time.I am using this on my Mean Well power supply for my LED strips. The power supply does not turn off when the LED’s are off so it still draws power. Now I am able to turn it completely off with these Kasa smart plugs using Google Home/Alexa or using the Kasa app on my phone. Setting the smart plugs up using the app was quick and easy. The plugs are quick to respond to on/off requests.I recommend these smart plugs.
Kasa is a quality smart home company. I have several Kasa products in our house and we are very happy with them. They are semi bulky but not so bad that you can’t use the other plug in the outlet. There’s a manual button to turn the outlet on if you don’t choose to use the app or just need to power on whatever is plugged in to it.The app is very user friendly. The plugs pair quick and easy to the app and the setup is very simple. There are multiple options for programming like timers and automation. In my experience they have been extremely reliable. They have options to update firmware so you get an up to date product whenever there are new versions available. The only downside about that, is that it isn’t automatic and you only know there’s a new version if you open the app. Since we use them for their automation it is rare that we open the app. But, none the less, it doesn’t affect their performance. They are a great addition to your smart home, much better than other brands on the market. They integrate very nicely to our smart home. Would recommend for anyone looking for smart plugs.

Easy setup, but does require app. In general,I prefer devices that don’t require an app. Just trying to avoid iPhone clutter. I bought this without checking first so that’s on me. Nevertheless, setup was very easy and had some nice shortcuts that made things easier. You need to connect to the device’s Wifi to connect it to the Kasa app, but then it automatically restores the original wifi connection. Nice! After that connection to Alexa was trivial and it works reliably.
I have 10 of the Kasa mini Smart plugs and have used them over the span of a decade. So reliable that I do not even think twice when a need comes up and I need to get another set.Pros- Rocksolid reliability and only takes seconds to setup- Very well priced- Low profile and able to fit two in a standard outlet- Kasa app is clean and simple to use and always improving and rarely ever glitchy- Use them as timers for our outdoor Christmas lights, garlands and wreaths each year, not directly exposed to the elements but inside a box cover (refer to picture), and it has never been an issue even in -30 degrees Celsius Canadian winters; noted that this is not designed or intended to be an outdoors plug.- Use them as timers for our fans to dry our boat when it comes back soaked running 2-3 days straight without any heating issues- Use the “away mode” where lights will randomly turn on/off within a period of time and set schedules as part of our regular routine at our investment properties and when we are on vacation.- Voice command- Super easy to rename each plug inside the app and stay organizedCons- I can’t nick-pick this device that has been this reliable to use for over a decade and the price hasn’t fluctuated much either.Wishlist- maybe same low profile with surge protection capabilityHope this helps!
Great for an automated house. Easy to setup and works great with Alexa. Turn on and off my lights and gadgets just by asking Alexa to do it for me. Had them for a while and no problems. Only issue is if my wifi goes down I have to actually turn them on myself. (How 20th Century). I like them and would recommend for anyone automating their home.
works well. these work well. they do not cover up the 2nd outlet, so i am able to plug in my xmas lights (treet) and still use the other outlet. the issue i had (minus 1 star) is the matter setup with apple home. i went through the directions, which had me install via the app, which would then add it to my apple home. the kasa app install was fine, but adding to my apple home errored out several times and caused my home app to crash. once i restarted, the outlet just appeared and has been working without issue. aside from this setup, which seems odd as i havent that issue before, works well.
Kasa KP125-M: The Best Matter Over Wi-Fi Smart Plug on Amazon. In my opinion, the Kasa KP125-M is currently the best Matter-compatible Wi-Fi smart plug available on Amazon, with Linkind as a close runner-up. What sets the Kasa apart is its versatility—most of its features can be accessed through the app alone, without requiring a Matter hub.App Compatibility and SetupWhile the product description claims that the Kasa and Tapo apps are interchangeable, I found this to be inaccurate. The Tapo app failed to connect to the smart plug, whereas the Kasa app successfully connected within seconds. The Kasa app is not only more user-friendly than AiDot (used for Linkind devices), but it is also significantly better than the Smart Life app typically used for Tuya devices. One minor inconvenience is that you must manually select the exact model of your device from a long list during setup. However, once selected, the connection process is instant and hassle-free.Features ComparisonUnlike Tuya smart plugs, which are limited to basic on/off remote control, the Kasa KP125-M offers a host of advanced features: 1. Energy Monitoring: Track the energy consumption of your devices. 2. Connection Quality Display: View the signal strength from the plug’s perspective. 3. Geofencing: Automate the plug to turn on or off based on your arrival at or departure from specific locations. 4. Complex Automation: Integrate the plug into sophisticated automation scenarios.Additionally, the Kasa app allows you to run firmware updates immediately after connection and checks for updates periodically—demonstrating that the product is actively supported.Matter CompatibilityI successfully connected the Kasa KP125-M to the Apple Home app without a Matter hub, which reinforces its compatibility with the Matter standard. Other smart plugs I tested failed to connect to the Home app without a hub.Privacy and Security ConcernsThe Kasa KP125-M is a product of TP-Link, a Chinese company currently under scrutiny for potential security risks. There are even discussions about a potential ban on TP-Link routers in the U.S. starting in 2025. Whether this impacts your purchasing decision is up to you. Personally, I consider these concerns speculative at this point, as no definitive evidence has been presented.
Easy to Use. Been using these for a couple years now. Think I got my first ones as an office White Elephant gift. Now I have the plus, lighting strips, and the smart switches. App works really well for scheduling but I typically just control everything through the Google Home App.These are easy to set up and control as well as move around and reuse in other areas. They are bulky so can be hard to get them plugged in if you don’t have a stand walk plug. All in all they work great for lamps, appliances, anything that you want to power directly and turn smart.
Perfect/Compatible Smart Home Plug Option. We absolutely love our Kasa Smart Home Plugs! We have most of our lights and lamps plugged into them and synced with Amazon Alexa for some really convenient smart home features. Setting them up is super easy, and they’ve made controlling our lights a breeze—whether it’s through voice commands or the app.Every once in a while, we’ve had some trouble with syncing between the Kasa app and Alexa, but with a little patience, I’ve always been able to get them working again. It’s a small hiccup, and the overall functionality is still worth it.If you’re looking to upgrade the smart features of your home, these plugs are a fantastic purchase. They’re affordable, reliable, and a great addition to any smart home setup!
