Get a Multi-function Gym For The Price of a Dumbell! UPDATED REVIEW. I wasn’t so sure about this thing. It was easy to assemble. I put it together in about 8-10 minutes. Yet, it seemed flimsy and I was afraid of damage to the doorframe (I live in an apartment). However, it really works as advertised. The way this thing is designed distributes the weight into the sides of the doorframe so your bodyweight is pushing in on the frame and not hanging dead weight. It is really a clever design. It installs in seconds and leaves no damage. It’s light weight and compact so there isn’t any worry about storage. The push-up function ensures good form because of the hand placement. It allows you to do deep push-ups, and gives you a wider range of motion than simply using a flat surface. You can do wide push-ups as well. It works fairly well for sit-ups too. Yet, I found myself having to stop a couple times to set the bar back even with the floor. Yet, it works better than sticking my feet under the couch (What I did before I got this). The wide pull up function works just fine. I wasn’t sure if the hand placement would be sufficient but I could feel the burn after a few reps. The only drawback is the dip function. It doesn’t really do anything for you. You really can’t get a full range of motion with the device placed on the floor. The workout guide recommends elevating the feet with a stool but it doesn’t increase the range of motion in your triceps. You need to elevate the Iron Gym in addition to your feet in order to do dips properly. However, using the device in this manner can be potentially dangerous and result in injury should the device shift position in mid-dip. I don’t recommend doing it. There are safer options to doing dips. I was able to do hanging crunches without the ab straps, but I will probably go ahead and get them just because they are only eight bucks with shipping and handling. Overall, I’m satisfied with this purchase. You get a multifuncitoning piece of exercise equipment for the price of a dumbbell. You can’t go wrong with this. It works, and you can get a great workout on this thing. I’ve incorporated it into my warm-up routine. I will still use free weights, but this is a wonderful item. I can see this as a great travel item too. If you go on vacation you can turn any motel doorframe into a gym.——————————————————————————————————————–3 month update – My weight when I first began using the Iron Gym was 145 lbs. I was working out 3 times a week with dumb bells and doing push-ups. After getting the IRON GYM I incorporated the device into my routine. As of today I have gained 17 lbs. of muscle mass putting my weight at 162 lbs.——————————————————————————————————————–7 Month Update – I have still been using IRON GYM three days a week in addition to my dumbells and jump rope. My weight is now at 171. I’ve noticed the padded material that makes contact with the doorframe is beginning to wear. I may need to start putting ducktape on the ends of the device. There is also some slight wearing of the paint above my doorframe. I’m going to have to have some touch up work done.

Just about perfect so far. Just what I needed. And the price that I paid on Amazon was actually more affordable than Walmart and a couple of dollars less than it is now. So I guess I ordered mine at the right time, a time where Amazon was feeling a little generous I guess. I’ve only had this item for like 40 mins, and I had a good feeling about it from the start. Assembly was pretty simple(took about 10-12 mins), and all parts were there except for the ab straps which I don’t really need anyway; because with this I can easily improvise. It fits nicely above the closet doorway which is about 2.5 ft wide or about 2ft. 7in., and it holds my weight very well; I’m 180. I still have yet to try it out on a wider door frame, but I’m sure that it will fit above the other doors as well. A very nice tool for fitness enthusiasts and a great way to build strength and muscle when the dumb bell set just isn’t enough anymore. A very nice and affordable gift for someone who likes to workout a lot. I’ve been wanting a chin up bar for a long time, and now I finally have one and I love it. It’s so easy to use, another plus. Iron Gym is my new best friend. Highly recommended. Money well spent, what more can I say?***UPDATE***After trying this product on 3 different doorways, it works on all 3 and each are different widths. However, I did notice how it will leave small indentations in the side molding of the door frame and sometimes black scuff marks on the paint. The foam grips and padding seem like they might last for a couple of months, but I do intend to improvise when they wear out. I’m about to place a thin piece of padding in between the frame of the door to prevent more serious damage, because I do believe with heavy usage the Iron Gym will do further and more noticeable damage to the door frame. Thinking about my weight, the natural effects of wear and tear and my passion for working out; I’m going to have to take certain measures to ensure that I do not cause serious structural damage to the door frame. This will probably do damage even quicker with heavier people, so keep an eye on the condition of your door frame after every workout. Other than that, it’s still a great product that I intend to use every day.
Fits great on my doorways. Sturdy materials to support a large person. There are so many reviews of the Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar that I don’t know what else I can say, other than the reports of this product’s great quality are not exaggerated. After having read several reviews, good and bad, I knew that I needed to establish that my door frames were the right width for the workout bar so I measured the door frame width and the thickness of the molding on the upper part of the door. The door frame was about 32″ wide and the molding just under 1/2″ thick – which seemed to be right for this product based on the reviews of others, so I ordered it.The Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar arrived a day earlier than estimated in great condition. There were no signs it had been tampered with or previously opened. It came with the useless “Free Mail in Ab Strap” offer. But since the shipping and handling is $8 and you can get ab straps at Wal-Mart for just as cheap, there was no incentive there.Assembly was very easy. The bolts fit into place with no problems. Previous reviews that mentioned the little wrench that was included being of poor quality were correct. Having read those reviews, I didn’t expect much out of it. I hand tightened the bolts in place then used the included wrench to tighten gently without over-stressing the tool. But, still, by the time I was done, it was beginning to warp and wear out. It’s a one use only implement, I’m afraid. I finished up tightening using a wrench of my own.Once assembled, I placed it in the doorway to a back room in the house. It held in place just fine and fit square on top of the door frame and flush against the wall on the door hinge side. The pull up bar’s padded ends fit square against the door frame with no overhang – just the right size.I was nervous when actually putting my weight on it. I weigh just over 220 lb. I feared the crackling sound of wood moving and breaking and drywall disintegrating. I slowly started putting my weight on the workout bar. No crackles, snaps or pops. It held me and allowed me to do 3/4 of a pullup (I’m a work in progress), a complete chin up and several negative motions. I also just hung from it several times. There was a slight blemishing of the paint on the wall just above the frame – but I can only blame my weight and the materials used in my home’s construction. It’s not the fault of the workout bar. It’s sturdy materials did their job – there was no bending of the bar that I could notice as I tested it out. Time will tell what kind of padding I might need to supplement the placement of the bar.All in all, this is a great piece of equipment. People need to measure their door frame’s width and thickness before purchasing the workout bar and assess the quality of their location’s construction.P.S. I did not find the metal clip/door frame wedge included in the package to be necessary.
Very few flaws—well built. I purchased this for my twelve year old daughter, who wanted to strengthen her arms. Therefore, I never planned on doing any “heavy-duty” workouts with it or such, so I can’t properly rate it in regards to range of motion as I have no experience in that department, but it seems to be sturdy enough for dips, pushups, etc from what I can tell. In regards to the set-up, the instructions were a bit confusing, but there are many Youtube videos online easily guiding you through the process, so that was no problem.Everything was very well packaged and nothing was damaged-everything was in bags, that were indicated. Now in regards to the sturdiness. I’ll be honest, at first, I was a bit worried that it would fall. We hung it on my daughter’s doorframe, so it would be a pull-up bar. After pulling on it quite a few times to test the durability, we tried it. I believe the weight limit is something around 250lbs or so. I feel as if this bar would be sturdy enough, but I am not positive.Last two things—the only big flaw I noticed was that since we hung ours on the doorframe, we must be really careful to not push up when when doing pull-ups as that would cause it to fall from the doorframe and for the person to injure themselves. Lastly, I read some reviews mentioning that the individual’s doorframe began to bend and the bar caused problems in the doorframe. Since I haven’t had it very long, and since the primary user of the bar is only around 80 lbs, I haven’t seen any issues in the doorframe, but only time will tell.Overall, I recommend this bar for recreational purposes, and just to get a good workout in at home. It serves our purpose and is very helpful.
Measure your door first to ensure it’s wide enough. The Iron Gym Pull Up Bar is an outstanding addition to my home workout routine! This versatile and sturdy piece of equipment has exceeded my expectations in every aspect.Installation was a breeze, and it securely fits onto my doorframe without the need for any screws or permanent fixtures. The design is solid and reliable, supporting my body weight during pull-ups and other exercises with ease.I appreciate the multiple grip positions that the pull-up bar offers, allowing me to target different muscle groups and add variety to my workouts. The foam padding on the handles provides a comfortable grip, even during intense exercise sessions. What sets this pull-up bar apart is its ability to cater to users of various fitness levels. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned fitness enthusiast, this bar accommodates your needs and offers a challenge that can be tailored to your strength. Moreover, the Iron Gym Pull Up Bar is incredibly space-efficient. It can be easily removed from the doorframe when not in use, making it ideal for those with limited workout space.
The Iron Gym doorway pull up bar has the BEST design. The Iron Gym doorway pull up bar has been around for a long long long time. There are a lot of other brands styled like the Iron Gym, but I’m telling you, this has the best design. And, here’s why:- When you put it together, the curved bars are molded to for a tighter fitment. Most OTHER brands will use rubber spacers or grommets which will wear out and eventually split in half.- The bolt heads have a square shape that slot with square holes so they are seated. This allows you to assemble the Iron Gym pull bar tightly with NO wobble.- The Iron Gym works with doorway up to 33″ wide, while other brands average 32″ long. The bars have foam grips for comfort and tack, and eventually these will wear out, but I typically use athletic tape over them anyways. No docked points here.I’ve tried a lot of other brands over the years, just to try something new. But after they break from the reasons I listed above, I eventually go back to the Iron Gym. Do yourself a favor, buy once – buy the Iron Gym.

Great purchase. I got this for doing dead hangs. Am addicted to them after accidentally trying at the gym. I missed a piece during assembly, which is why I gave 4 stars. Could definitely be user error and didn’t matter much (the small rubber piece that cushions two other pieces in the middle). It sits on the door frame easily. I’m petite and weigh less than 100 lbs so it seems sturdy to me, but others may be more qualified to comment who are really challenging the bar. I hang from it and LOVE it. Recommend.
solved my problem. I had never needed a pull-up bar; there was a built-in one in our old house. I had dark thoughts about how much drilling and bolting I’d have to do to install one in our new place. This bar solved everything elegantly. I’ve used it daily for 3 months. I can easily and snugly mount it on the door and put it away each day. It’s plenty strong enough, and luckily so is the door frame. I was much reassured after receiving the bar in a badly packed state.

No complaints. The only complaint I can even fathom is how you can’t close your door without taking it down, which is pretty obvious lol. It’s awesome, perfect height, easy assembly, even comes with a little metal tool specifically designed to help securely assemble and disassemble your setup.Every time I walk in or out of my room I’ll grab on and do a couple and go on my way.High quality material, easy installation, great exercise.
Easy and effective. Super easy to put together and thankful for that because instructions are very elementary lol common sense is needed to put together. Fits right on any door frame, literally seconds to put up ANYWHERE, and zero hardware for use so easy on your home. Multi functioning is great for at home. Wish I found this sooner. Great buy! Highly recommend!
MY HOLY GRAIL. Super easy to assemble and this has transformed my at-home workout routine immensely. The fact that you can do not only pull-ups, but full-er range pushups, can be used for situps, and even dips, is crazy. all that value for an amazing price. It’s really all I need
Great bar for upper body workout. Good bar for working out and doing other exercises. Excellent thought on the idea on making it fit in a doorway and using it on the floor. No nails, bolts or other needs that will damage the door jam. The bar is all you need for a upper workout. The only thing I don’t like about it is that when finished it will leave black marks behind on the molding around the door.
Simple and Awesome. The pandemic taught me how to get a good workout at home, and even now that we’re out of it the habit remains. This pull up bar is surprisingly durable and supports my weight without a problem (230lb), and it allows me to get some back work in whenever I want. I use only the parallel grips, as the regular grip is a little too narrow for my shoulder width, but that’s what I prefer anyhow and I have no concerns about them breaking.I will say, it may be beneficial to put a tennis ball or something protective on each end of the bar that presses against the door frame, and it is starting to leave a visible indentation. But, that is also variable depending on the weight of the person using the bar and how hard it presses into the frame.
Great bar for any level fitness. I have worked out for over 50 years, always had a pull up bar. I needed a new one and decided on this one. I am happy with it. I do pull ups and dead hangs everyday. I was skeptical at fist of the pressure type door mounted bar … I was surprised at the ease of assembly, and it works !! I had two grandkids on it and it held up. I love the size and the versatility – multiple hand grips – works great and fair price.
Sturdy, Strong, and Consistent. I bought this product 3 years ago. I’ve used it almost every day since, it’s worked great and has come along with me on my body building journey ever since. The build quality is great, the grips have remained comfortable, and everything about the bar is great. However, the metal holder for the bar hasn’t been able to stand the test of time very well. It’s gotten a lot of bend on it and just this morning I had it finally bend too far on me.Is it possible to get JUST the metal bit? I’ve loved this bar forever and I don’t need a new one, but I do need a new holder.Overall, 9.5/10. After 3 years of everyday use, the metal piece will eventually give out. The bar itself, 10/10.
Easy set up and works great. I purchased this for my son and he loves it. Both my son and daughter use it and have mini competitions. It was easy to set up and it is quite sturdy. I would highly recommend this product.
Sturdy bar. Bar is great for someone who can’t always go to the gym. Had no issue with safety so far. Simple to use even if you’re new to working out. Sits sturdy at a proper height on the door frame granted that you use the accessory provided with it. Only issue is if your hands do start ache from the material so I’d recommend some sort of workout gloves. Overall great product I’ve had it a couple of years.
Works Great & very Convenient. When my pull-up bar first arrived, I was very skeptical of it being sturdy enough to hold my weight without jacking up my wall or doorframe. After using it for over 6 months, it’s actually turned out great! It’s also super convenient to be able to take it down/put it up in seconds whenever I want to use it or put it away.
Sturdy! Used for muscles & to hang dog hammock. I originally bought this as a convenient way to hang our dog hammock for trimming doggo’s claws. Totally worked! Now my sons have taken it over. Stays in place nicely & doesn’t accidentally fall off like others we’ve had. Totally works! It’s sturdy & good quality. I’d recommend it for anyone.
Works well. This is my second Iron Gym, first one I had for a long time until the pads disintegrated beyond duct taping. Taking a star off for the listing pics of the old version with the padded door frame stops and not the new plastic ones. Also the day my new one arrived the price dropped almost 60% so keep an eye on pricing. The padding on the curved part seems flimsy. It squishes and moves under my hands while doing pushups so I don’t think it will last. The padding in the wide pushup position feels sturdier.Pullups feel solid. I’m 195lbs and this thing doesn’t flinch. I don’t use the metal safety spike, the bar holds steady without it.
Great product. High quality, east to install and sturdy
Does the job. Very sturdy. Easy to build. I called the help number when I had a small trouble during assembly, turned out to be the owner. Very respectful guy, 10/10 recommend everyone to support his business.Supports my weight which is give or take 160 lbs, fits perfectly in my small doorframe. Is very durable and doesn’t shake when user correctly. Just make sure your doorframe has enough space. Otherwise solid product
