  1. Outstanding bang for your buck. My Instant Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven ReviewI ordered this air fryer on 09/11/2022 and received it on 09/16/2022. I had been reading a lot of good things about air fryers and had been toying with the idea of getting one for myself. I thought the 6 quart model would be just about the right size.It arrived well packaged in an outer box and was undamaged. I’ve read stories where people have received what they suspected were used and returned models, but that does not appear to be the case with me.Following the break in procedures in the included manual, I ran a foodless test cook at 400° for 20 minutes. I immediately detected the oft talked about burning plastic odor. It was noticeable, it was not nearly as over powering as some of the one star ratings made it sound. After the first test cook I allowed it cool for about 10 minutes and ran a second and then a third foodless test cook all at 400°. While I have no proof to back up my theory, I suspect the odor is nothing more then production oils burning off. The odor seemed to subside with each consecutive test cook. After a day or so it was completely gone. I should mention that taking the little “feet” off the plate in the basket did not have any effect either good or bad with respect to the odor as far as I could tell. But like I said, by the next day the odor was gone. This morning I tried my first actual test cook of a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Buttered each side of the bread and preheated the air fryer. When it was ready I set the timer for 6 minutes at 400° with a flip at the 3 minute mark. Sandwich came out nice and toasty, though I would have preferred the cheese to be a little more gooey.Next I tried some home made French fries. I think I made a few mistakes. First, I used the Julian feature on my mandolin to slice the potatoes. The fries came out extremely thin and small. The next mistake was I placed them in the basket and sprayed a little EVOO on them, thinking it would help them crisp. Because they were so small and thin, some burned, the others just came out soggy from the EVOO. I’m chalking that up to inexperience. So I decided to tackle chicken wings. I dusted them with a flour, salt, pepper and paprika mix and cooked them at 380° for 20 minutes. While they did come out somewhat crispy, they were not the golden color I was looking for. I think my mistake here was in not brushing them with olive oil to help crisp up the skin. Another case of inexperience. I’m not going to give up though because I do dearly love me some fried chicken. My next foray into air fryer cooking was boneless pork chops. I seasoned these with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder on both sides. Unless I’m following a recipe I don’t measure things, I just add till it “looks right”. Just for the heck of it I decided to use the Broil feature instead of Air Fry. I set the timer for 17 minutes and the temp at 400°. I flipped the chops at 8 ½ minutes. These came out perfect. A nice “bark” on the outside and juicy on the inside.I was so pleased with the way the pork chops came out, the next day I decided to take a run at bacon. I cooked two different batches. The first was using the air fryer setting. Time was six minutes, temp was 360°. When it was done the bacon still seemed to be not as crunchy as I would like, so I added 2 more minutes. This time they were nice and crunchy. My second batch was on Broil. You can’t change the temp which is preset at 400° so I reduced the cooking time down to five minutes. Personally I liked the Broil results better then the air fryer setting. So did my wife. As a side note, I was surprised at how little bacon grease remained in the pan after cooking. In the interest of full disclosure, after I opened the package of bacon, I cut the slab in half so they fit better in the basket. I was able to get six half slices into the pan without overlapping. Also after cooking I peeked inside the air fryer and did not see any evidence of bacon grease splatter anywhere.Since I already had a third of a breakfast done, I decided to go full Monty. I found three Yukon Gold potatoes in the kitchen so I peeled and diced them up. I tossed them with just a smidge of olive oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper and paprika. I tossed them in the fryer, selected broil and set the timer for 12 minutes. Remember, the temp for broiler is preset to 400° and can’t be changed. At least not as far as I could figure out. When they were done I taste tested a few and they were delicious so I called it good. While eating I came across a few of the bigger chunks that probably could have gone another minute or so, but that’s not a big deal. Then I cooked up some scrambled eggs for my wife and a couple sunnyside up for me, old school on the stove and breakfast was served. Over all I would have to say I was delighted with the results.I have not tackled the Dehydrate feature yet. I’m not sure how I feel about running my air fryer for several hours. I did take a stab at banana chips. To keep them from turning black some videos recommend dunking in salt water while another suggested using lemon juice. Since the one video didn’t mention how much salt to use, I went with the lemon juice. They did not “chip” and tasted like lemon. I think I’ll stick to slicing my bananas into my Raisin Bran.Tonight I’m testing out my air fryers ability to make the “perfect” baked potato. I placed two normal sized russet potatoes in the basket after stabbing them repeatedly with a fork and giving each one a loving massage with olive oil. I set it to air fry. Time set for 50 minutes at a temp of 400°. They were still a tad hard so I added another five minutes and that finished them off nicely. Dining Tip: Plain Greek yogurt makes an acceptable substitute for sour cream on a baked potato. If there is one thing I’m not happy with regarding this air fryer is its alert beeps. Usually half way through whatever cooking time you set, it will beep to remind you to shake or flip whatever you’re cooking. It will also beep to let you know the cooking cycle is done. The problem for me is the beep is so quiet I never hear it. I sit at my desk, right around the corner from the kitchen and still can’t hear it.The air fryer itself is so quiet I can barely hear it when it’s running. Thankfully I have Alexa to set those timers for me. OK, well I better end this review now or I’ll wind up writing a cook book. So in closing I have to say I am 100% happy and satisfied with my purchase.I did come across one other feature I’m not a big fan of. And that’s the timer. It only counts down in full miutes until you are down to the last minute, when it converts to a seconds count down. So when you’re cooking and the timer shows six minutes, you don’t know if that means six minutes and 55 seconds, or six minutes and 2 seconds. That 53 seconds can make a big difference in an air fryer. But I monitor my cooking anyway, so it’s not a deal breaker for me.

  2. My new best friend. Okay I’ll say right off, maybe I should get more friends! But as a man who is a self-styled amateur chef, I have been pining for one of these types of cookers for a couple of years now. I always find a way to squeeze in one more item on the countertop.I choose this model based on reviews, features and brand name. I use my Instant Pot pressure cooker on a semi-regular basis and it is also a great cooking appliance, so I trust the brand name, and it doesn’t disappoint.I first took the air fryer into the garage and ran it through a couple of cycles before using it in the kitchen. There was clearly some smell as noted elsewhere, likely from manufacturing. By the time I used it “for real” on the 3rd run, barely any smell. And by the next time…no discernable smell at all.My complaints are small, but let me get those out of the way. I wished it preheated up to temp faster. It’s advertised in such a way that you think in 60 seconds, you’re cooking. In my experience, it’s 5+ minutes to get it to 400. Faster than an oven for sure, but not quite the blink of an eye I was hoping for. Second – the beeper is not loud enough. It beeps to tell you it’s now at cooking temp, to rotate food or when food is done. For some reason, it seems louder to tell you food is done than it does to tell you the preheating is finished and to add food. You’ve got to be very close, so you can hear (or see) when it’s up to proper temp. Since most foods are specifically timed, if you don’t get your food in shortly after it heats up, it will start counting down whether there is food in it or not. Neither of these takes away from the overall 5 stars.I’ve had it for about 4 weeks and have tried a variety of items. I used the roast feature for skinless salmon. Amazing taste and quick. I found that 10 minutes was perfect for my fish. Others might find mine slightly overcooked, so experiment. It took about 3 tries for my fresh sweet potato fries to come out perfectly. I finally got it right at 20 minutes at 400 in the basket using the air fry function. Evenly cooked and delish.I did homemade coconut shrimp. I can’t remember the exact time – it seems like 12 minutes at 380 but I’m going by memory. There are recipes out there to cross-check my memory. Again – used the air fry function.Baked potatoes were the best I’ve ever made at home. If you like potato skin, check this out. I rubbed them in olive oil, then lightly sprinkled sea salt, black pepper, and a blend of spices that is mostly garlic powder on the outside. These were large potatoes but I guessed and I guessed right – 400 degrees on bake setting for 50 minutes. Perfectly done inside and a nice crispy and tasty skin. You’ll have to take a stab at it based on potato size. HUGE potatoes could be up to 60 minutes. Small taters – might be as low as 25 or 30 minutes.Other items I’ve done are quick prep items. Some frozen and breaded shrimp were perfectly done at 8 minutes at 400. Frozen tater tots same temp at 8-10 minutes. I sprayed a light coating of olive oil and salt on the tator tots. Crispy and delish.Everything so far has been easy and delicious. I have not used all functions – only bake, air fry, and broil so far.If you’re on the fence and you like to cook, take the leap!3/5/23 update: still really enjoying my air fryer. I find that it makes fish taste amazing. The dinner shown in the photo is flounder and sides. The flounder was cooked about 7 minutes using the broil function. Rubbed a bit of avocado oil, then used some fresh thyme and lemon pepper seasoning and a touch of garlic spice blend. Squeezed some lemon over the top, and broiled perfectly. I still use it, still enjoy it and continue to recommend it!

This multi-functional device is a game-changer, offering a wide range of cooking options including air frying, roasting, and baking. The 10-quart capacity is perfect for large families or entertaining guests. It’s spacious enough to accommodate a whole chicken for rotisserie cooking or a generous batch of fries for air frying. The appliance is well-built, sturdy, and easy to use. Whether I’m in the mood for crispy fries, juicy rotisserie chicken, or freshly baked cookies, the Vortex Plus delivers exceptional results every time. The convection cooking technology ensures even and efficient heat distribution, resulting in perfectly cooked meals with a crispy exterior and tender interior.Cleaning this appliance is a breeze too. 4. The product was delivered with good packaging and was not damaged from anywhere. Once product was delivered I got an online demo from Mr Devendra. The demo was good wherein he not only gave the details of the product and how to use it but also assisted me with my queries. The product is very easy to use if one knows the timer and temp settings. I have mainly the user the air fryer mode and the food was cooked in the same way when fried on a pan but the major difference being that very less oil was used in air fryer. Overall a very good product and would recommend to those who liked fried or roasted items and are worried about health issues due to the excess oil used in them. This air fryer requires very less oil and gets the job done

  5. I didn’t want to but now I LOVE this thing. I bought this as a present for my wife who had been wanting one for some time. Although I wasn’t thrilled with the idea of getting yet another gimmicky kitchen appliance I nevertheless did a lot of research and concluded that this was the best on the market. The fact that it was made by Instapot was a plus since I have been extremely impressed with their pressure cooker. The first time we tried out this air fryer we were impressed by how easy and intuitive it was to use. It uses exactly the same user interface as the instapot pressure cookers so it will feel very familiar if you already have one of those. If you don’t have one all I can say is that a lot of thought and effort went into making the interface easy to use and understand. It is absolutely top notch. The second thing we noticed upon our first culinary creation is that it is FAST and it turns out excellent quality food- a lot better than I had imagined. It heats up very quickly, cooks the food very quickly and evenly and it is easy to access the food during the cooking cycle to rotate it if you need to. We discovered that you really do not need to add ANY oil to most foods so the food is healthier and tastes less greasy and more flavorful. The final big discovery that I made was that this thing is really easy to clean! I did not expect that at all. The bottom screen/grate easily pops out and the non-stick interior literally wipes clean with almost no effort at all. The grate is also non stick and cleans up just as easily. After making a full sized 6.5lb chicken in it, frying up a stack of corn tortillas to perfection without using any oil at all, making breaded, fried zucchini sticks (to die for!), roasting my own cashews and using it for a host of other things I have to admit that this appliance has become one of my all time favorites!A few additional observations: it puts out a surprisingly minimal amount of heat so you can set it on almost any surface and not have to worry about it getting too hot. Even the air venting out the back is relatively cool. You can pick the thing up while it is running even if it has been being used for half an hour straight. This keeps your kitchen cooler and allows you to easily move it so you can cook stuff outside on the doorstep on those super hot days.Second, the top is perfectly flat. This may seem trivial at first but my counter space is severely limited so if it is going to sit on the counter it is nice to be able to put stuff on top of it when it isn’t being used. Finally, this air fryer uses WAY less energy than an oven or even a toaster oven so it is good for your wallet and the planet. The only thing that was less than perfect about this unit was that it took three full runs of no food and one run of sacrificial zucchini coins before it finally got rid of the smell. The manual does say to run it through one or two cycles to get rid of the smell so I can’t really complain about it. Just be aware that you have to do those initial cleaning runs. All in all this air fryer is an absolute gem and I LOVE it! If you have been thinking of getting one you should definitely consider this one. I highly recommend it! I hope you found this review helpful!

Fryers make it easy to whip up frozen foods, and they can do so in a way that is slightly healthier than deep-frying. The results are much better than oven-frying, and your kitchen stays cool. Some mistakes i made that you should avoid i.e.1. Not opening up the machine and mixing yourfood at least once when you are cooking2. Overcrowding the air fryer. The more icrowded the less crispier the results3. Not using even a litt/le cooking spray at all.4. Cooking straight out of the fridge withoutletting it thaw.5. Not knowing that you can cook many otherrecipes than just those that involve frying.

Why did I wait so long to get an air fryer. I simply Love the Instant Pot 10QT Air Fryer with 7-in-1 Functions; it’s easy to use, takes so much LESS TIME to cook than my traditional oven, and so far, I’ve been happy with the food results. I use it to cook frozen foods and to reheat leftovers mostly, and I’m thrilled with it. Highly recommend for these purposes.I used the broil feature to make cinnamon toast, and it turned out wonderful. Just had to use the light and watch it so it didn’t burn, which I had to do in a traditional oven also. The only negative about that was the blower blew loose cinnamon powder all around the inside of the Air Fryer, which I had to wipe down well after it cooled. It wasn’t hard to clean up, just unexpected, since a traditional oven doesn’t blow the food around. I haven’t cooked anything other than that, so I can’t rate the rotisserie feature.I’m glad there’s no digital clock to have to reset when the power gets disrupted; I have enough other clocks in the kitchen. The cooking timer is easy to see so you can tell how much time is left while it’s cooking, and it tells you when to turn the food for even cooking. The only thing I wish could be improved is the loudness of the beep. It has very low beep when it’s ready to add food, turn food and when done, and I have to be in the room to hear it. Compared to my microwave beep and my traditional oven beep (both of which I can hear from the next room), the Instant Pot Air Fryer beep is far too low and needs to be louder. As far as the counter real estate that it takes up, that is no problem for me. I measured my counter area before purchase, and I tried putting a cardboard box roughly the same size as the appliance on my counter as a test before purchasing so that I could get a good idea how much room it would take up. It’s considerably taller than a toaster oven that I once had, but I have enough clearance with the overhead cabinets and the actual Air Fryer works well on my counter.Overall, I’m happy with this purchase and would buy again.

  9. This is a good little combo oven – use it for everything that the regular size oven cooked!

  10. I love it. This air fryer is awesome. Ease of use, touch button with multi-functional led controls. Set it and forget it!It is very roomy, big enough to cook several things at once. One drawback is that the top row gets done faster than the bottom row. The machine is very nice looking on the countertop. Easy clean up. It also has a rotisserie. I haven’t tried the rotisserie yet.I do love this machine. I would buy it again for a gift to myself or a friend. Price point is about average.
