  1. Easy to set-up and start using. Packaging: compactly packed, easy to assemble and set upProduct: while only time will tell if the product materials are truly of good quality, upon acquisition there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the plastic parts, the metal rod and the lights. So far my only complaint is that the power cord is too short. It’s ~45 inches, and for me to put it where I had intended, I’ll need to get a cord extender.Instructions: the user manual was actually pretty easy to follow (minor typos, no big deal) – probably the most confusing line of instruction would be that you should “split the sponge to take one seedling out and move it to other pot” so you only have one seedling (once germinated) per pod. I’ll have to wait and see how this works out.The manual mentions that there are refill pods and baskets available for purchase, but doesn’t actually include a link. I think it’d be really helpful for the system to come with some recommendations for what plants ARE good for hydrophonic systems. I’ve obviously Googled a lot and tried to do my research, but it’d be a nice touch from the manufacturer to include such tips. So excited to see what happens next though with the little pods I popped seeds into!Update:It’s probably been 1.5-2 months, and I’ve raised the lamp for the first time. Herbs and lettuces and kales are growing super well in this! Sometimes the fan is louder than usual, but aside from that, no sign of structure problems. The only thing to note: once your plants are beyond the seedling stage, they can suck up quite a bit of water. The baskets are too shallow, in my opinion, and even if you’re at 3.5L, the baskets won’t touch water – which means if you have any seeds germinating, they’re actually going dry. Something to look out for! I’ve never changed the water, but you do have to be vigilant about refilling it constantly. Once the roots grow, it’s less of a concern, but water consumption is high!Update 2:Changed water for the first time. Roots get entangled with each other, which makes for a pretty awkward operation. There’s visible fungi/mold growing on some of the substrate pods, and it seemed to kill off one of my stalks of basil (though the others are doing fine). Waiting to see if this issue might continue. I wish there were more information on how to deal with such situations.

Herb Superb. Seriously?!? Can it get any simpler than the iDOO 12 pod indoor hydroponic herb garden?!? I had the whole thing up, planted and running in maybe an hour…My arugula sprouted in 1½ days and I woke up this morning (day 3) and the four different basils are just beginning to sprout. So…I just ordered my second iDOO from Amazon. Excellent product. Insanely easy. Very cool (literally and figuratively) using only a 23W LED panel. I highly recommend this hydroponic garden!Update 4/7/21: It’s been 6 weeks since I began my adventures in hydroponics with the iDOO 12 pod indoor… and I’ve been extremely pleased with the results and I added two current pictures. I began by planting all 24 pods (I have 2 units) – the blank spots in the pictures are plants I’ve already transplanted. All of those transplants were successful but for one. I had Thai basil next to lemon basil. They had both grown so fast and so bushy that I had to transplant them; however, their respective root balls had grown so incredibly tangled that I was unable to tease them apart (at least without likely causing serious damage.) I finally decided to pick a spot midway between then and used scissors to cut straight across. End result- lemon basil thriving but the Thai basil is lingering on life support (that, in and of itself, is a good sign since today is day 3.)Additional thought: an earlier reviewer mentioned how fast basil sucks up the water. My experience is the same. I started with sweet, Thai, lemon, purple and cinnamon basil varieties and I was having to add 1 liter (between 2 units) every other day. The burn rate I experienced was just over 5 weeks to use all of the part A & B nutrients supplied in the kit so for a single unit, figure about 11 weeks. I’ve started the second unit’s nutrients as of this posting. I’ve looked all over Amazon for more iDOO parts A & B nutrients and all I can find is a kit with the nutrient + sponges + baskets + covers (the latter two being non-consumables, so kind of an underhanded way to inflate the price if you ask me.) I’m intending on buying an “off-brand” variety of hydroponic nutrients from the many offered on Amazon and I’ll update with my results. I figure if iDOO doesn’t want to make $ selling individual consumables (if I’m not changing out a plant, I don’t even need additional sponges but a plant’s gotta eat, right?) then I’ll go with an alternate source. (iDOO, you listening?)Other than non-support wrt the nutrient solutions ( I expect this will be of little consequence due to all the alternate sources on Amazon) I still rate this product 5 stars. The project has been fun and I’m amazed at how quickly some plants grew on a day-by-day basis! I’ve had no problems with the lights or pump on either unit. The timers have both been creeping forward (~20 minutes in 6 weeks being the worse between them.)It’s been fun, basically automated with minimal user support-what’s not to love? After all that, I forgot to add the biggest plus-an absolutely incredible constant variety of fresh herbs. I’ll never go back to dried herbs because I’ve discovered that fresh tastes so much better! One word of caution: don’t eat an entire sage leaf-WOW a little goes a long way. I like sampling all the basil varieties by eating a leaf off the plant to contrast and compare against each other so I thought I’d try that with the sage. I won’t do that again.

  3. Does what I need beautifully. I love growing things, but I have always had trouble starting seeds. I decided I wanted to try one of these systems, and this one had pretty good reviews and a good price point. The assembly was fairly easy, and it fits on my “plant table”. I have used tap water. My first project was starting seeds for transplanting into containers on my deck. I started out with some herbs, tomatoes, and peppers. Everything came up quickly, and transplanted well. My bf was wanting to experiment with lemon seeds. I started a few in the system and transplanted them once they were a good size. I did leave one in the system for a while, and had to take it out when it got too tall. It is 3x bigger than all the other seedlings. Now I am shifting over to seed-to-harvest with some herbs, spinach, and lettuce. The system has worked consistently, the light is bright enough for plants outside the system. The fan is very quiet. I am ready to invest in an additional bigger system, once I have everything growing out on the deck, and it will probably be an iDOO.

  4. A wonderful introduction to hydroponic gardening. Let me preface this brief review by saying that I am new to hydroponics but NOT new to gardening or plants in general.I had been on the fence about trying hydroponics for a while. As an avid gardener I always that these systems were a) part hype, and b) almost a way of “cheating” on the normal growing process. As the normal planting season started to wind down I found myself wanting to find a way to keep on sprouting, so I decided it was time to start playing with hydroponics.I researched hydroponic garden systems for quite a while before deciding to try iDoo. My search started with the better-known brand, but as I learned more I found that the features I was most interested in were available at a much more reasonable price point. I decided that this system had everything I needed to start playing with hydroponic gardening.I couldn’t be more thrilled with my decision! Long story short, in less than a month I went from owning one unit to my current setup of FOUR machines. I will never give up on my love for traditional gardening (or for succulents and other types of plants) but I am incredibly happy that I continue to grow some of my favorite things all year round now!A few of my favorite features:1. Germination and growth really does happen at at accelerated rate – even in comparison to proper greenhouse conditions. I have used my iDoo machines successfully grow herbs and veggies from seed – and I have also transferred other seedlings into the sponges with great results as well (although this method requires more skill and effort.)2. The water reservoir (in the 6.5 L model) is larger and deeper than those of most systems at a comparable price point.3. Most off-brand pods and accessories are compatible with this system – which means you can shop around and save money on replacement parts if you are so inclined.4. The app, although basic, is useful if you need to modify your light schedule for any reason whatsoever.Cons – albeit minor ones:1. It is hard to modify the lighting schedule for the non-smart version of this garden.2. It is much easier to see the water level, and visualize your plants’ roots system (with the help of a flashlight or by lifting the tray) in the white model.3. I wish these kits had included the trellis, which I had to purchase separately, or any kind of external supports to use for plants that grow rapidly – which will be most! I have seen these kinds of accessories included in much cheaper kits, and they would be a very useful addition to iDoo’s systems without costing the manufacturer much at all!If you are seriously considering this system – just buy it! It is built well, works as expected, and easy enough to be used by gardeners of every skill level.(Side note: if you plan to grow basil, tomatoes or any other kind of root-happy plant – buy the 6.5 L version!)

  5. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I live in a very hot climate where we’ve been receiving excessive heat warnings… My outdoor garden has taken a hit, but this hydroponic system allowed me to continue my love of gardening indoors. It’s also allowed me to “play” with different kinds of seeds and propagating plants from outdoors. I even started a couple of apple tree seedlings from the seeds that rooted in an apple core, and several other seedlings from seeds in the produce I actually bought at the grocery store. So this system has expanded my gardening potential exponentially! The only downfall is when it came to transplanting, some of the root systems get so tangled up that it becomes difficult to even remove them from the plastic cages. I gave up trying to separate them from the sponge, and just planted my seedlings (sponge and all) and they’re doing just fine!

  6. Idoo hydroponics system is great. This hydroponic system by idoo is great. I planted lettuce seeds July 23 and I only harvest the outside leaves. Here it is sept 7 and my lettuce is still going strong. Timer turns on/off the lights and the pump circulates the water, and the little fan on top does just fine. Very pleased with having fresh lettuce whenever I want. Works well, seems quite sturdy and doesn’t have any leaking issues. Very nice set up

  7. Updated review. When I received the product it was missing stuff with it. As soon as I opened it and found that out I should have returned it. But I kept it as I wanted to try it out. I contacted idoo and told them what parts were missing and I was receiving like a interrogation from them like I was stupid and how could they forget to put stuff in the box. Took over a week to finally resolve and when they shipped the replacement parts it was the wrong stuff. I just powered thru and dealt with it. Grew some veggies the last few months and it’s been nice. A few days ago the light stopped working and I was like oh great. Now I have to deal with idoodoo again. So I emailed them a few days ago and suprised suprise no response. Do you’re sell a favor and don’t buy anything this company has to sell. If you do buy that extra warranty and if it dies deal with the warranty company not idoo.Edit: they replied and wouldn’t fix and didn’t have anything to send me… Then they offered me 70% of what I paid even though it’s still under warranty. I just accepted it and wanted to move away from doing business with them.Edit: they just replied and said they would be giving me a full refund and send me parts to try to fix the problem. I really do appreciate them going the full route to get this resolved.

  8. Improved Grown System. This is my second IDOO hydroponic growth system and it is much improved. My first system worked beautifully but I though that it stopped working and brought this one. It holds more seeds, has a fan and easier to operate. They both yield delicious micro greens and herbs. I will grown mini tomatoes next.

  9. Incredible. I was super hesitant about this product and I waited to write a review until I was a few weeks into my growing process. To say i’m impressed is an understatement. It’s been almost 30 days now since I planted the first lettuce seeds and as you can see in the picture they have sprouted beautifully. This was easy to assemble, instructions were clear, and the product itself is super lightweight. The light itself is pretty bright when it’s on but that’s not an issue for us. If you keep the water tank full the water filter is very quiet. Please note only the left side of the picture was planted first. The smaller herbs were planted at a later date hence why they’re so far behind.Overall 10/10 for growing indoor herbs and greens!

Very successful. It’s made growing plants so much easier! It’s also very easy to set up and usually a week into sowing the seeds, you will find some kind of growth. I’ve had it for about a year and I’ve already had so many plants grow. It may be difficult to grow smaller seeds and some types I’ve noticed won’t grow at all (like dandelion seeds and it’s harder to grow watermelon but not impossible!). The last picture is a little overgrown because I like to grow them at least to those sizes before I transfer my plants so they have a better chance of survival. Also I recommend the distilled water, because tap or spring might cause calcium to build up in the water space below and it’s hard to scrub off when you clean. Other than that I’m pretty satisfied with the product, and it’s well worth it. ✨

  12. Good for a beginner. I got this to see if I could grow lettuce. Let me tell you I can! I put 2 seeds in each pod and all of them sprouted. I have had much success with this. The only thing I would like to see is a light inside the water container so you can see how much water is left. There is a viewing window but since it’s dark in there it is sometimes hard to tell the level. Other than that everything else is great! Long arm to extend the lights up pretty high to account for some taller plants. Really great for starting seeds to transplant outside seasonally.

  13. Works great. I like the new upgrades . Ease of using and the price

Unscrew to clean the motor is tedious. I bought this recently and I am a beginner.Assembly is very easy. Price is very reasonable if u r beginner. It has different modes of lights. Comes with one time kit as well. Cord is not long and attaching it to extension cord, I am not sure how safe it would be. I kept it on rolling cart for easy access. The only thing I am dreading is to clean the motor. The manual says once a month. For that you have to unscrew the motor. This is a lazy thing for me. I wish it had some click and stick thing to take the motor parts out for cleaning.Let’s see how it goes, I will update time to time. I am really looking forward to using it though.
