It works very well. I purchased the Hooyman Bush Machete. Only had it for a few, I’m a scrawny old granny, at first thought it looked too big for me to handle, but it did great, well balanced. Sharpens easily, long lasting edge.Best handle, comfortable and grips great even when wet. I only use the sheath for a little while carrying it through the yard as to not scare my nosy neighbor whom have wild imagination. I haven’t tried to use sheath on belt or for long periods of time, but, it looks and feels sturdy enough to use for those purposes. WEAR EYE PROTECTION!!I used machete mostly to chop up corn stocks for mulch (worked perfectly), sticks for bundling (pick-up), whacked grapevines out of the trees. Cut some small firewood, Chopped comfrey and nettle for fertilizer tea. There was no struggle using and work was done quickly.Worked great, easiest if the wood is green. Also very helpful for releasing stress by chopping the SH out of overgrowth. : D even .

Great machete. People have asked why did you buy a machete, my response is because I can and why not. So when I was looking for something good with a sturdy grip, this was rated well and it did not disappoint. The weight and the grip is great. Makes it easy tdo use. Many different applications for this great tool. Let your imagination run wild.
Machete. It’s comfortable to use but is a little light to cut larger branches

Does not come sharpened. I grew up in S.A. and machetes were common usage there. I remember being around 9 years old and hacking coconuts off trees in our back yard and then hacking the fibrous shell off them. That was back in the 80’s when parents didn’t GAF so it was fun to be a kid, always on that fine edge between liberatingly dangerous or deadly. HahahaI decided to go old school and buy a machete because all the “modern” US yard tools are inept. Why do I need 4 different kinds of scissors and clippers just to clean out an 8 foot garden? When this came I immediately went out and started swinging, only for this to connect with a small shrub and bounce right off. I realized then it wasn’t sharpened. I don’t know where to sharpen things. I mean, is there a phone number I can call for a machete sharpener? There’s no place in town to take it in. So I’m a bit frustrated that my new toy is just sitting on a shelf until I can find time and energy to research where to take it.
Nice weight, nice shape and size, gets the job done, however…. I love the heavy weight, shape and size of this machete. However, two things to complain about as to why I won’t purchase it again. The black finish rubs off on objects I use this machete to chop – it stains things black. Secondly, the handle is made from a cheap material and with continuous heavy duty use it didn’t last a year before breaking apart entirely. I’m happy that it’s full tang, heavy, and perfect in every other way. You should really make one that is either unfinished or doesn’t stain at all.
